How much faster is this over a 170? Because my research shows no real improvement except the m.2 and some pre installed bios. What do these extra PCI lanes even do for gaming? I will be buying a kaby lake cpu. My ram will likely be 2133mhz. no m.2, just ssd and hdds. For aesthetics, my PC case is black metallic with green LED fans. I do like LEDs. It doesn't have to be green. Main purpose is for gaming. Also my biggest concern is the boot time speed (which isn't a problem ever since win 8 and 10). But boot speed was the biggest factor in choosing my current motherboard Also if you recommend ryzen and the x370 instead, please tell me why. Hi friends from LTT I'm new to the "pc" world, I was mostly a console "peasant" (insert pc master race joke) because I didn't want to take the risk of buying/making my own pc, thanks to all the information that Linus and the team gave me through the YouTube channels, I decided to start my project, obviously with nice components and all that good stuff (including RGB). Should I wait for i5 8600k or should I buy i5 7600k now. In my country I can get i5 7600k for 230$. I5 8th gen is expected to be around 300$ and motherboard would cost 30-50$ extra than the previous. I am building the PC for gaming. Show which processor would be a better choice.

need to tell what type of motherboard is in this prebuilt system im going to upgrade so i dont accidently buy wrong case. its small form factor so it wont fit any normal sized graphics card (like the 1050 im getting for it and it also needs a new power supply for it too)

I know this will probably be really obvious and will make me look like an idiot BUT I REALLY NEED HELP: could I upgrade an Intel Pentium G4560 "Kaby Lake" CPU, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3.5GHz on an ASUS H110M-A/M.2 Motherboard to an Intel i5-7400 3.0GHz? I am asking this because when I input these specs on pcpartpicker.com it says - Some Intel H110 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaby Lake-S CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions. So finally my question is could I do this and would it be difficult. I've upgraded PC's before many times but I never assembled one from scratch before until now. It was easier than I thought, but it does require you to know hundreds of tiny nuggets of domain knowledge. I want to share this advice so that first-time builders can save a few hours of frustration and do-overs. Some of these are less frequently mentioned tips from Youtube reviewers Use a template. I spent way too much time debating on borderline choices which parts I was going to use. Find a well-regarded build list that was completed already (from this site, Youtube or another site) and use that as a base. Revise the amount of storage, RAM and a few other parts based on your needs. But at least you'll know the parts are compatible and that they fit well in the case. Watch a full-length build video of a Youtuber that is using the same motherboard as you are (I like Paul's Hardware and Hardware Canucks). Watch a full-length one (~30 minutes) step by step - not a fast forwarded video and see what they're doing. If you give into a low attention span and don't do this, you may end up having to spend much more time later on having to learn each step individually. Stay organized from the start. Have a method of being able to separate different kind of screws (i.e. power supply mounting screws, case screws, case fan screws, drive cage screws, drive mount screws, etc. Use cups and sticky-notes if you need to. Otherwise, you'll start losing screws or spending an eternity looking for them. In this case, it's better to have freakish levels of OCD than to be disorganized. Save your packaging. The manuals for the power supply and the motherboard can be especially helpful to knowing where the small pins go. Save your packaging and receipts in case you need to make a return. Go for an easy-to-build-in case over one that is not easier to build in. If it's your first time, you want to make it as smooth of a building experience as possible just so that you can eliminate as much chance of something going wrong as possible. For example, I kind of regret going Micro ATX for my first build and perhaps I would've gone for a standard sized ATX due to more building room and only slightly larger size. Get the cabling right before mounting the power supply. Especially if you can't easily access the PS while it is installed in the caseIf you have a modular PS, you want to make sure you have all the cables attached to it you will need and not the ones you won't. Disassemble the case from the start. Before building, it's best that you take off any panels, filters, stock case fans, shrouds and drive cages you can (while of course leaving the frame and the place where the motherboard goes in tact). You want ample room for building. If certain parts are closed or obstructed, your vision will be blocked and you may have to move your arm around laboriously. If you wait too long to disassemble the case, it may be too late and much harder to disassemble it. Install the IO Shield before the motherboard. The rectangle plate with port holes. It is installed from the inside using a little force from your hands (not a screwdriver). Install this before you install your motherboard because the motherboard itself may prevent you from reaching the IO shield area. Know how many fans your motherboard supports. If you're adding more case fans than the motherboard has slots for, you need a fan splitter. Mount your motherboard before screwing it in. The standoffs are the pieces with little screws and a hole for a screw to go inside them. Put the standoffs in the according holes first and add those on before screwing the screws into the standoffs. Otherwise the motherboard isn't aligned right and the IO panels are not aligned correctly. See well. You will need good lighting. A flashlight of some kind is recommended. Smartphone flashlight isn't ideal but can get the job done. If you use reading glasses, wear them. Locate the connectors. Do a test run of connecting the cables from the power supply/fans/case to the motherboard before you even install it, or at least visualize it in your head. It may sound like a waste of time to do a test run, but it's better to get the geography of the motherboard figured out while the motherboard is on the table than when it is inside the case. For example, you'll know which holes to put the cables through if you know where they are located before you build. Conjoin the 24 pin connectors. It took me more time than I'd like to admit to figure this out, but the 2 cables (the larger and smaller one) may not fit at all if they're installed individually. However, when they're connected together, they go in with ease. With the 8 pin connectors, if they don't attach together, you may have to hold them side by side your self. Don't install the video card too early. Video cards are fairly large parts. The video card may block your view of the motherboard and limit your space to work in it. You won't have the freedom to move your hands around in the case as you please. At least install the small USB/LED/Fan/Power connectors before putting in the video card. Don't do too much at once. It's best to get some things resolved before working on others. If you're trying to install bits and pieces of the power supply cabling, fans, case cables and storage drives all at once, it can get very messy. If there's a common theme here, it's that taking some extra time to prepare yourself well at the start can save you hours of headache.

Hello, i'm rather new to PC builds and such. I've done extensive research on how to actually build PC's (LinusTechTips and Youtube). For about five years, I've been running with a PC that i got from TigerDirect and it is time for an upgrade, though it runs well and such, my CPU gets up to 70% when watching a youtube video in 1080P, let alone the wondrous 4K video Linus and his team puts out. Current Rig * No Name Motherboard, Single Channel Ram * Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40GHz * MSI Computer Corp. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Gaming OC 2GB GDDR5 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card N750TI TF 2GD5/OC (Copied that from amazon after noticing that the label on the side of the card says MSI. Found it pretty easy since i no some of it) * 1TB Hard Drive (Very Little Space Left) * 500W Power Supply * Windows 8.1 Operating System I know that my graphics card is decent, though i would like to get a stronger one with my next rig, and is is possible to combine the one i have currently, with a new, more powerful graphics card? But what i would truley like help with is picking parts for my next build. I'm hoping to get this case and most likley will (Link). But i'm also looking at this case (Link). Most likley going to go with the first case though since it has 4 USB 3.0 Ports and i need two of those ports for my keyboard, another for my mouse and the last one for my headset. If at any and all possible can i receive some assistance in building my new rig? I would like it to be able to handle 4K and VR if needed(Not Necessary Though). Currently i have a lot of games on my steam account that i cannot play since my processor cannot handle it. Take 'The Witcher 3' as an example, as even on the lowest settings, the game can only run at max 20-30FPS. It would be extraordinarily wonderful if i could receive some help from all you wonderful people in coming up with and building my new rig. Please do keep in mind though that i don't want to build a 10-15K computer, and would like to keep it arguably affordable to the average man. But most of all, i would like all the parts to work well with one another, as i know that just putting all the highest tier parts together, won't allow you to come out with a computer that works well. I need help with my computer I went to so many places where I live and most didn't want to even look or touch it because of the custom water cooling loop, I the computer posted before I installed the loop, i made sure it posted and was able to log into Windows but after I did the 48 hour loop test when I plugged everything up I was not able to get the computer to post or even show any signs of turning on, I live in the US northern BY idk if anyone from the forums lives nearby or w.e but I would love some help from someone that knows what they are doing. Hey everyone, I like tech (obviously) and I was looking to build my own desktop PC. What do you think about this build? Btw this is NOT a gaming PC, it is more geared towards multitasking and gaming only comes second, this is why I choose the graphics that you'll see down bellow.
