Hi everybody, a simple question: will opening up a laptop (hp pavilion x360 14-ba000nl) to insert an additional storage device void the warranty? And is there any way they can find out if I did?

hp Is i7-2620M and i5-2410M interchangeable
Ryan Omahen posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
i currently have a hp pavilion dm4-2070us with an intel i5-2410M, and i am wondering if it is possible to uprade it to an intel i7-2620M processor. i know they are both PPGA988 , but i want to make sure it will be 100% compatible. doeas anyone know of any reason why this would not work? UPDATE : what about the i7-2640 cpu? its also same socket. and the intel site says it is also compatible with hm65 express chipset Also before anyone says just go buy a new laptop, i have a nice desktop i just built and just need the laptop every once in a while, so i am not in the market for a new one. Thank You. links to both on intel website: https://ark.intel.com/products/52224/Intel-Core-i5-2410M-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-2_90-GHz https://ark.intel.com/products/52231/Intel-Core-i7-2620M-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_40-GHz https://ark.intel.com/products/53464/Intel-Core-i7-2640M-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz -
Hello. I have an HP Pavilion 11 that hasn't powered on since I opened it up to see the battery's power (I couldn't look it up on Google because I don't have internet at my house). All it does is charge and light up the power button for about 5 seconds. That's all I have. It runs 64-bit Windows 10 Home, and has a Pentium N 3000 Series (Pentium N3540 I think). Any thoughts on what I could do to fix it?

Can someone please help me? I found this computer and it looked promising. But it only has an dedicated AMD Radeon R5 330 (2 GB) graphics card in it, which is nice but it is just not powerful enough for what I want to do with it. I looked up the specs and the power supply is only 180W (Which is most likely maxed out). Does anyone know how I would go about changing the power supply and how to go about doing this. Please can you also supply me with the most value for money power supply available for its replacement. You would also make my day by suggesting a new graphics card. All Suggestion welcome... Thank you!!!

Hi, a friend of mine recently bought a new laptop (HP Pavilion 15-ab120ng). Everytime after rebooting the wifi works for a few minutes but then stops. It looses connection to the network and only deactivating and reactivating the wifi adapter helps. After that it works flawlessly until the next reboot. Has anyone come across similar problems on his laptop? What could help solve the problem?

Hello. In this thread I will be updating my FRAPS framerate benchmark scores for various games on my laptop. I will just be updating this first post for each new game, not making a new post for each game. If there is a certain game you would like me to benchmark please let me know and I will see what I can do. So first off here are the specs of my laptop. Also another thing worth mentioning I am using a entirely external setup. I am using a Dell 1440 x 900 Monitor set to 75Hz via the VGA port on my laptop and a USB keyboard/mouse. Processor 1.9GHz up to 2.8GHz AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M Accelerated Processor with 4MB L2 Cache RAM 6GB DDR3 SDRAM (2 DIMM) Video Graphics AMD Radeon HD 7640G Discrete-Class graphics and up to 3060MB total graphics memory I have no overclock running at all as when I fresh installed Windows 10 on my new SSD I had no way of doing so. So without further delay let's begin. First up we have: Assassin's Creed (2007) at Resolution 1440 x 900 75Hz Assassins Creed Dx10 Highest Quality. Multisampling 3/3 - Graphc Quality 4/4 - Level of Detail 4/4 - Shadows 2/3 Frames: 13765 - Time: 7.35 Minutes - Avg: 31.183 - Min: 17 - Max: 48 _______________________________________________________________________ Assassins Creed Dx10 Mid Quality. Multisampling 3/3 - Graphic Quality 2/4 - Level of Detail 2/4 - Shadows 1/3 Frames: 22330 - Time: 7.43 Minutes - Avg: 50.088 - Min: 23 - Max: 88 _______________________________________________________________________ Assassins Creed Dx9 Highest Quality Multisampling 3/3 - Graphc Quality 4/4 - Level of Detail 4/4 - Shadows 2/3 Frames: 20495 - Time: 10 Minutes - Avg: 33.980 - Min: 17 - Max: 67 _______________________________________________________________________ Assassins Creed Dx9 Mid Quality Multisampling 3/3 - Graphic Quality 2/4 - Level of Detail 2/4 - Shadows 1/3 Frames: 29202 - Time: 10 Minutes - Avg: 48.635 - Min: 25 - Max: 86

Hi I have a HP Pavilion G6-2223SL wich harddrive is broken. I bought a new one and installed it. I needed to install Windows and since I had only Windows 7 I installed that. Now my problem is following: I have no access to internet neither with lan nor with WiFi. So I can't neither install any driver. On the offical hp support site there is no driver for windows 7. I also tried to install drivers through the software suite, but without success. Could anyone help me find drivers? Netzwerk = Network Gerät = Device Unbekannt = Unknown Thank you in advance

So I'm picking out monitors and I found the Pavilion 27xi (302,90€, about $336,54USD). I really like the look and size, however, it's a relatively old monitor and some stores in my country are not replenishing stock anymore, leaving the stores with the increased price tags. I also looked at the LG 29UM67-P 29" widescreen (339,90€, around $377,65USD) and at the Asus MX279H 27" (309,90€, around $344,31USD). So question is, are there any other monitors of the same look and size and if not, which of these is the better option? Apologising in advance for any faults in my english.

Hello everybody, I am in dire need of some help. I normally play an Xbox 360/One and I have been wanting to get back to my PC gaming but my store bought rig is graphically under powered so I need some help on what to buy and what to do. It is a Best Buy HP Pavilion Elite HPE-510y with a discrete AMD Radeon HD6750. I want to do a graphics card upgrade, and purchase an SSD for a boot drive to make Windows 7 load up much faster. I understand that the graphics card upgrade may also mean a new power supply as well and if it is needed I am willing to get a new PSU as well. So please help me and tell me what to do. Gaming Capability: Reaching 60fps at medium settings on Battlefield 4 would be awesome. If that won't work then I can handle 30fps on medium settings. EDIT: Sorry forgot to include a budget. If I have to buy a new PSU then my budget for a GPU, SSD, and PSU would be: $200-$350 If I don't have to buy a new PSU then my budget for a GPU, and SSD would be: $200-$300 Prices are flexible so feel free if there is a good deal that is a bit over to include it. Thank you! Specs:

Hi guys, I'm in college at the moment and I don't have a lot of money to spend on a nice rig, so I upgraded from a Lenovo T420 Core i5 to a HP Pavilion DV7 Core i7 (2nd Gen). The thing is, I use this for edting film (i'm in cinema studies) and to game, and I'd like to max out this laptop. These are the specs: CPU: i7-2670QM @2.20GHz GPU: AMD Radeon 6700M Series (2Gbs) SSD: ADATA SP900 128Gbs SSHD: Seagate 500Gbs (5400rpm) RAM: 8Gbs DDR3 1333MHz I was wondering, can this laptop take 16Gbs of RAM? And if so, what speed should I get? And since I need a lot of space for the back-ups but also for gaming, should I replace the 500Gb SSHD for a 1Tb SSHD + 2Tb WD MyPassport, or should I just buy a 4~6Tb WD (Green or Caviar or Red) and set it up in an external case? Thank you.

Okey, so I have a laptop that is overheating, also it makes Fan Error message on start up but that one I know how to fix. The processor is i7 and it goes up to 90 C, sometimes it also goes that hot that laptop just shutdown. Here is picture of disassembled motherboard, fan and heatsink. So I want to experiment with Coollaboratory products. What can you suggest to use. Here down are variants but you can suggest whatever you think should be the best. (Have changed thermal paste once but that did not actually helped.) Liquid Copper, Liquid Pro or Liquid Ultra? I guess that i should use copper one because heatsink pads that touches processor are made from copper. Also there is some Coollaboratory metalpads. What are these and what they are for or better or worse than liquid products? There is 3 processors on motherboard and I want to know can I use product on every chip or should just on CPU ? Chips are marked with red. I did peel off that yellow thing from around the GPU, what it is made from and should i put a new one or is it actually needed ? Link for Coollaboratory products: http://www.coollaboratory.com/shop/ Thanks for any help. Edit: added picture

Hey so a friend of mine came to me asking me to "hack" Microsoft Office so it would work for her. She gave me her laptop (HP Pavilion with Windows 8) and upon further investigation, I found that Office had expired on her computer. It seems weird because the computer is new as of 4 months ago and from what she told me, there was only a trial of Microsoft Office preloaded on the computer. This seemed weird because I thought every pc that you buy pre-build would have the full version of Office on it. Now I was just wondering if she may have missed a paper in the box with the activation code in it or if there was even an activation code to begin with. If you have had this same experience or have any insight, please feel free to let me know. Thanks

Hey so I have a friends HP Pavilion notebook on my hands and as soon as I opened it up at home I found that there is an odd noise coming from it. I'm fairly certain that it isn't an issue with the fan as I didn't hear any peculiarities coming from that region. The noise is something similar (in my opinion) to a bad connection causing electric signals to jump from wire to wire (obviously this isn't what is happening [i hope]). It seems that I hear this noise when I'm around old computers which is odd because this computer is new as of 4 months ago. If anyone has any guess as to what this sound may be, please let me know. Thanks

Hi, I'm trying to help someone who just got a new graphics card for their computer but it's not being recognized by anything. He has an HP Pavilion p7-1414 desktop (link below) and he just got a PNY Geforce 210 at Best Buy (link below). The guy at Best Buy said the PSU was big enough and that it had the right PCI slot so it should work fine with the HP desktop. But when he put in the driver disk it said no compatible hardware found. Also in device manager only the integrated graphics would show. The card is seated correctly, the fan is spinning, and it doesn't need and external power cable, so I don't think the problem is with power. I had a feeling that in the bios the PCI lanes might not be set to auto detect, so I asked him to go look around in the bios for something to do with PCI. He couldn't find anything there so I thought he could reset the bios to default and he did that but it still wasn't being detected. He also tried to reset it with the jumper but still nothing. This probably means that the default isn't set to auto but besides that I have nothing else to try. The problem is still trying to get the card recognized. Any help will be appreciated. A couple things that I missed, hes running Windows 8 64 bit, when he first got the card he tried to plug it into the monitor but it wouldn't work. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement battery for my Pavilion G6? Preferably somewhere in Delta, Surrey, or Langley in British Columbia. For you international folks: if you have a link to a reputable site, please share! Thanks guys! Image attached for reference.
