What's safer? To sign up with Google or to use your email and password with a password manager. I understand the privacy trade-off, but which is the better option solely in terms of security (since Google will find a way to track me down anyway). Is it better to have all of your eggs in 1 basket with Google, or use a password manager and put all of your eggs in that basket instead... Bonus Questions! #1: Why does Imgur let you sign-up with Yahoo? Who uses Yahoo? #2: If you sign-up to Twitter with Google, then sign-up to another site with Twitter, who gets your data? Will it make the world implode? #3: What's the longest chain or cross-logins you can think of? I can't get past Google -> Twitter -> Imgur #4: Should I have just made this a poll...?

My android phone randomly stopped accepting the correct password
Guest posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Hello, My phone has randomly stopped accepting the correct password after I locked it after I took a couple of pictures. I know it's the correct password because I have been using the same password for my lock screen from the past 4 years and I have never forgotten it. I can't use the fingerprint or face unlock because it shows the message "Password required for additional security" It's like system has corrupted or forgotten the screen lock data. Thanks very much for any help -

This has been concerning me big time. For the last week I have been getting daily account recovery codes from facebook. I use randomized passwords for everything and 2-factor authentication, so it appears that no one has been able to actually access my accounts, and I used the setting to sign myself out of everything just to be safe. In the emails there's always an option for if I wasn't the one that requested the code, yet this is still happening. I remember facebook used to show locations of where attempted logins came from, but it looks like they don't do that anymore. This has been weirding me out for a while. Normally these kinds of things happen a couple times and then they stop, but this person or program has been relentless with trying to get in. Does anybody have some advice or a similar experience to share?

So, I've just built my new PC a few days ago, I tried logging in with my Microsoft account and it says "wrong password", I was pretty sure it was correct but fine I've changed it, everything worked. A few days later my PC says Microsoft account error, please login again, I tried and again "wrong password", I've changed the password thinking ok maybe I'm so dumb that I can't remember it and saved it wrong, so I've changed my password again, logged in on the site and on the pc, everything was fine and now....wrong password again. I've asked to chat with someone at Microsoft but of course, they left me there waiting for hours. Does anyone know anything about this problem? Any proven solutions? I looked online but found nothing working or nothing similar to my issue.

My laptop has been having problems for the past 5 days. First it started with the sound output. Apparently I tried doing an update on the Realtek speaker driver, the update got denied. Sadly while doing the update it somewhat uninstalled the original driver so the laptop couldn't detect ant sound outputs nor microphone. I eventually recovered the previous update and installed it, the sound was back. However after the update, the pc messaged that Microsoft store stopped working. I opened it and it was working so I was like wtf. Few minutes later windows gave me the error screen .-. The computer restarted and after I typed the Bios password, the Asus logo popped up, then the screen just stayed on but black. It's been like that ever since. Now I took off the Bios administrative password and Factory Reset the computer (I went through a lot trust me) and now apparently the bios password is back and it's not the one I used to have. Alt + r doesn't work, tried taking off the CMOS battery (still didn't work) and now I'm here because I gave up. So if anyone knows how to fix this situation, PLEASE I'm stressed and tired. PS: The picture shows when I press Alt + r

Microsoft is adding password monitoring to its edge browser. Along with other features Microsoft is adding a feature to it edge browser that will search the dark web for compromised accounts. Similar to services available though third party web sites. video outlines the feature in more detail starting at 30:57

Source The german based infosec team named Team SIK has released a devestating report which points out big security flaws in mainstream password manager apps for android. Acording to their own site the vendors have updated their apps to mitigate against these exploits. They decided which apps to test by choosing the most popular ones based on download count from the google play store. this is very worrying to say the least.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Yoga 510-14ISK running Windows 10 build 14393. A few months after i bought this laptop my username and password box wouldn't show up every time i locked or started the pc for the first time. I already did a fresh install of Windows and replaced the drive with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD, Windows is set to boot in 'normal' mode (so safe mode is disabled). Is this a known bug for this build or am i doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to wipe data off a mac and restore to factory settings. When I booted to recovery and selected Re-install, to reinstall os Sierra, it did the job, but it was still password protected from the previous user. If I go to disk utility and wipe the drive, and then reinstall, will that work? or will that prevent me from using the computer?

I recently purchased a PasswordResetKey and I was so excited to use it but I am having some trouble. When I plug it I went to my BIOS and enable boot from external device but it didn't work. When I go to the menu to choose it as a boot drive it's not registered on there! I am doing on this on a hard drive with Windows Vista OS. I don't use this hard drive but I've always wanted to get some old pictures off it so I put it in my Sony Vaio Laptop. The main error I was getting was something to do with bootmgr. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

So there are 3 accounts on this pc, 2 administrators and 1 standard. The only one I know is the standard account, one admin password is forgotten long ago and another was password changed yesterday by my brother. I want to ask is there any way that I could change password on any of these 2 admin accounts or make this standard account an administrator account without knowing the password. I tried downloading a couple of password recovery tools, but they require admin password to run. Also tried enabling built-in administrator through cmd, but I need to run cmd as an administrator, otherwise I get access denied. PLEASE HELP!

Hey guys, In android, one great and the least used security feature is screen pinning, which pins an app to the screen and the user can't navigate from that app to other windows, without re-authenticating using a password or pattern. I want this feature in windows, so is their a screen pinning software in windows. If yes please mention it below Thank you

Recently, my dad helped upgrade my grandmother to a new iPhone. My sister doesn't have money for a new phone, so we were going to let her have the old iPhone 5. The problem is that my grandmother doesn't remember her Apple ID password, and the email was registered with a domain that no longer exists. Is there any way to factory reset the phone without the account password and without being able to send a "forgot password" email to the one registered with the account?

Article feom Engadget: https://www.engadget.com/2016/11/02/lastpass-is-now-free-across-all-your-devices/ Original Post from LastPass blog: https://blog.lastpass.com/2016/11/get-lastpass-everywhere-multi-device-access-is-now-free.html/ This makes me happy. Say what you want about handling your passwords to a third party but having something to take all the memorizing of 16 character alphanumeric password and conveniently fills it out in the form is a life saver.

hey, this is 100% legitimate before anyone ask questions. My close friend committed suicide a week ago. his parents asked me if i could remove the password on his asus ROG gaming laptop for him. being that i've done this in the past with offline NT before, i said sure. well that was before windows 10. i tried using that and it seemed to work but still asks for a password, then i remember about windows 10 and having a hotmail account linked to it. (i use local) so its asking for the hotmail account password. i'm not looking to know what his password is, im just trying to remove it so his parents can see if they there was any information on his computer. is there a way that i can remove the password? i know you could always reset the microsoft password online but it will send a conformation to his phone and they don't know the password to his iphone either and i know trying to break into that is not going to happen. am i SOL or what can i do.

Hi guys I have a shared Seagate external hard drive that will sometimes be out of my possession but I only want to give access to its files to family members only. I've had a look around on the drive options and software and can find no password set up option. Only windows general access tick boxes. I have seen some say encrypt the drive with bit locker but I don't not have it. Any advice and suggestions appreciated. Orion.

Here is the situation, I stay logged into youtube and gmail. Today I tried to access gmail and instead of the loading screen, I was confronted with a login screen. Pish-posh I thought, I'll just login with my email and password. Too easy right? Much wrong, all the wrong. All your wrong are belong to. Anyway I typed my credentials in like it ain't no thing but a chicken wing and got a big fat Incorrect password error. Must be a type-o right? Capslock? Keyboard language? A short time later.... Nope, I did not make an error when typing the password, not the first or the tenth time. I am locked out of my google account and all I can come up with is either google dropped the ball or someone has hi-jacked my account. TLDR: I'm sad because google has kicked me out of my account and I don't know why. Any words of wisdom? PS Luke for WAN over James Nothing personal

Hey everyone I'm dog sitting at my friends house and he has a windows 10 computer with a picture password, he at first explained rather poorly how to unlock it and I failed to many times. I now know how to do it properly but the option to input a picture password is now gone and for some reason he doesn't know his typed pw and didn't make a pw recovery disk. So my question is, how do I regain the option to do the picture password?
