  1. Hello everyone! So, to introduce my dilemma I believe it's most important to state that I'm using a prebuilt, more specifically, an Alienware Aurora R12 Desktop. As a fair warning, I know nothing about this motherboard except for the fact that it is overclock capable and came from the factory with this setting activated. I have ditched using Dells software, exclusively using it for only fan control (because no other third-party fan control program works). Okay on to the issue at hand, enough precursing. I have been using Intel XTU and learning little by little as I go... The one constant issue I'm facing is that no matter what overclock settings I enter (even factory default), I am consistently getting Current/EDP Limit Throttling almost 100% of the time on load. I understand that my system does run hotter than most (due to the questionable case design) but I have optimized fan control to keep temperatures at a max of 80C-85C even in modern AAA titles like Remnant II. My CPU is able to hit turbo consistently as is, but I imagine there is a lot of performance left on the table here as it has a Max Turbo of 5.00GHz but never been able to get it there or past 4.80GHz... I can only imagine the EDP Limit Throttling is to blame for this. I will attach as much info of my PC Specs and from XTU as possible to aid, please reach out if you need any more information. I would really appreciate if anyone could offer their experience and expertise in order to help me correct what I'm doing wrong here... As well as offer any helpful tips that I can learn along the way! Thank you for taking the time to read this and offering any advice! *As a final note, I have tried using Throttlestop but I'm afraid I'm not educated enough on the topic of overclocking to understand what I'm really doing. I really messed up the CPU behavior at one point and reverted back to XTU out of sheer fear. *The Screenshots of XTU were taken while running COD: Warzone in the background just FYI!~ PC Specs: > Prebuilt Alienware Aurora R12 Intel > Operating System Windows 11 Home 64-bit > CPU Intel Core i7-11700KF @ 3.60GHz (Turbo 2.0 Max 5.00GHz) Skylake Technology > RAM 32.0GB 3200MT > Motherboard Alienware 0P0JWX (U3E1) > Graphics DELL AW2518HF (1920x1080@240Hz) DELL P2319H (1920x1080@60Hz) 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 > Storage 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM008-2FR102 (SATA (SSD)) 476GB NVMe Micron 2300 NVMe 512GB (RAID (SSD))
  2. Hello, I am a huge Minecrafter, basically I play everything as long as it's in Minecraft, from Murder Mystery to Bedwars, and I am also a speedrunner, which involves running several instances of the game. Recently, I upgraded my system to the Ryzen 9 5950X, as most top Minecraft speedrunners use either the 5900X or the 5950X. The speedrunning experience isn't bad at all, but when I play 1.8 for games like Bedwars, the performance is unsteady and honestly quite bad. It's very playable but I'd expect more out of such a beefy CPU. I noticed the core Minecraft was running on wasn't running at its full potential. The core clock is often pretty low and unstable. So basically I'd like to fix that by forcing that core to run at full speed, over 4.5GHz, constantly. But I have no idea how to do that, I tried to do an all core manual overclock in Ryzen master and in my BIOS, both of which were unstable above 4 GHz. Here are my PC specs: Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2 (extremely beefy VRMs) AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 4x8GB 3000MHz G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4 Asus Dual GeForce RTX 2060S 8GB As a cooler I'm using the Cooler Master ML360R RGB which I know isn't great, I might end up replacing it with a beefy air cooler such as the Dark Rock Pro 4, I'll see. But for now I just want a stable about 1000/500 (because I use OptiFine) FPS, so I can use motion blur and have it be butter smooth, and I know it's possible with my current configuration, it's not like my rig lacks power! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. So I own a EVGA RTX 2070 SUPER BLACK and was looking to upgrade the bios to run a little more of a memory clock mostly just for fun. I only recommend this to people willing to risk your entire graphics card!!! In a few days or weeks I believe the knowledge with these bios mod tools will have grown. I would like to help out all the RTX 2000 series owners that are willing to risk graphics cards for knowledge and fun. So I have a EVGA RTX 2070 SUPER BLACK Card all I was messing with was going from the SUPER BLACK bios to the EVGA RTX 2070 SUPER FTW3 Ultra+ bios. ( For me this is a learning stop gap at some point I will move to a unlocked bios to see what my lil 2070super can do, but this was easy I will have to find a unlocked bios) (ADD-ON 2080 looks to be possible through a bios I just have to go back a couple of bios revisions then update my 2070 super to make it think it is a 2080) (link to article) https://thinkcomputers.org/can-you-flash-your-2060-2070-super-to-a-2070-2080/ "The Tool itself, will attempt to flash everything and progress to flash everything that is valid as a ROM File." (In theory you could try and flash a 1060 6G bios to a 4070ti) that is from what I understand I am just going from 2070 S to faster 2070 S I matched 2070S to another EVGA card I am going to match the brand when going to 2080 specs seeing if I can re enable through bios flash. This tool works with GTX 1000 series to RTX 4000 series. "Bellow 2000 series, please match the 8pin amount and i/o display out. Those card could not auto adapt. It is ok with 3000-4000 series"] (Credit Veii for entire post) A more consumable version of this software is coming due by end of August. (can not wait looks sweet) Link to original Tech Power Up post https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/omg-vflash-fully-patched-nvflash-from-x-to-ada-lovelace-v5-780.312601 I also will link the Tech Power UP place where I received my EVGA 2080 bios that I will install after this post was made https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/207705/evga-rtx2080-8192-181012 Enjoy the File attached below Use only if you acknowledge the risk OMGVflash.zip
  4. I got an X79 motherboard and two Xeon E5-2670v2s,I'm planning to overclock the CPU via overclocking the FSB since the multiplier is locked. I kinda worry if overclocking the FSB to 110MHz will cause damages to other hardwares like my GPU(an RTX3060) and my hard drives(sata and usb).
  5. I've been away from any real overclocking for a long time now, so I'm looking for feedback from people that are more up to date, or for some good resources to look through for myself. Basically, I've got a 5800X3D, 64GB DDR4-4000(18), and an Asus Crosshair VIII Hero. I can run the Asus auto-tune option in the UEFI and it gets me a 20%(ish) OC of 4.1GHz on all cores. I'm pretty sure I could tweak that a bit and get it higher, since even running the 3dmark stress-test doesn't push the package over 60c, but I'm wondering if using PBO would benefit me more than pushing the all-core OC. I tend to have other programs open while gaming (Discord, Firefox, etc.) and I also run a few VMs at the same time when I'm not gaming (that's why I bought the 64GB RAM), so the all-core probably helps a bit with background tasks and the VMs. I'm wondering if switching to PBO would give me much of a boost for gaming compared to the 4.1 the preferred core should be running at now (that's my understanding from what I've read so far, like I said, I haven't done much tinkering in a few years). Thanks for any help.
  6. Hi everyone! I've just finished building my first ever PC, and it runs very poorly and i encounter stutters and FPS drops in every game i play. Part list: GPU: Asus GeForce DUAL-RTX3060-O12G-V2 CPU: Intel Core i5-12400 RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3600MHz 32GB (2 x 16GB) PSU: Asus ROG-STRIX-750G, 80 PLUS Gold - ATX power supply, 750 W Storage: Samsung SSD 980 PRO with Heatsink 1TB MB: Gigabyte B660 DS3H AX DDR4 LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard When I run 3DMARK timespy without overclocking I get a score of 7561, and with overclocking I get 8113 score This is the result WITHOUT OVERCLOCKING (7561 score) : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-12400 Processor,Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. B660 DS3H AX DDR4 (3dmark.com) This is the result with WITH OVERCLOCKING (8113 score) : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-12400 Processor,Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. B660 DS3H AX DDR4 (3dmark.com) This are my overclocking settings I've tried: Updating all drivers for GPU and CPU Reinstalling all drivers for GPU and CPU Reinstalled the GPU in the case Reinstalled my computer I'm not a really techy person, and this is my first build ever, Is there anything anyone can think of which would make my PC perform this bad? My CPU usually sits at around 50-70% and GPU is always at 95-99% in games
  7. I plan to use mini-box's openups to power a minipc and a few other electronics related to building a laptop. While i've read all documentation several times, I was wondering if anyone has experience pushing it past the 6amp nominal load rating to the 10amp peak rating. Im not unfamiliar to cooling mods and was under the assumption I would be making a custom heat sink for it, along with one for my 7940hs as its stock cooler is limited to only 90w(ships @ 65w), 120-150w being the goal for this gen and next gens peak apu.
  8. Hi I'm a noob when coming to overclocking. I recently got a 5800x and I was told to do the ryzenmaster all core OC. It pushed core clocks up to 4.95ghz all core but lowered wattage. It was running at 150w staying at 4.8 and 4.7ghz all core. Now it runs at 120 to 130 watts. I feel like that's wrong due to the fact overclocking should increase wattage not lower it.
  9. Hi, I have a Ryzen 5900x on a ROG Strix B550-F Gaming which can power RAM up to 5000mhz. Currently I am using a Corsair Ballistix 3600mhz cl16 kit which was the recommended when I bought them ages ago. I have found a very affordable Corsair Vengeance 4600mhz cl18 kit which is 400mhz under the motherboards limit. Would I see noticable gains in upgrading? I 3D model, render and game. Workstation + gaming. Thanks!
  10. I have an lga775 motherboard that i have upgraded from a q6600 to a q9650. I have been experimenting with the platform and learned that FSB overcklocking is the easiest way to increase performance on these systems. Started with SetFSB because it's very easy to use. When i set the FSB from the stock 333mhz to 400mhz the system seems to run perfectly stable but i noticed a weird issue. Some games seemed to run sped up. I confirmed my suspicions by comparing the windows stopwatch to my phones and it indeed ran 20% too fast (333mhz > 20% > 400mhz for your information). So my question is, any way to recalibrate the clock after changing fsb speed from software? Or can i OC in the bios only? CPU: Q9650 MB: ms-7502 (OEM board, but a modded bios with limited multiplier editing does exist)
  11. So as the title says, I'm just after realising my RAM is running at default 2133mhz instead of 3200mhz so I went to go enable xmp and can't find it anywhere. I've updated the bios, checked they are all able to have it and can't find any info anywhere that helps so I thought I'd try here with the professionals. Anyone got any advice where to go from here?
  12. Hi all here is the Issue I have been experiencing with my computer's RAM sticks. I have discovered that the Aura lights on my RAM sticks are causing the RAM to become faulty and unstable, particularly when I attempt to overclock them. Upon closer observation, I noticed that the lights on the RAM would go out of sync or even momentarily turn off and back on during heavy load situations. After conducting thorough research and troubleshooting, I have determined that the lights on the RAM sticks are drawing power from the RAM itself. This power draw is making the voltages unstable, resulting in various problems such as system crashes, stalls, and even the RAM turning itself off unexpectedly. It seems that when the lights require additional voltage to operate, there is not enough power left to adequately support the RAM during intense workloads. This instability caused by the voltage draw from the Aura lights is a significant concern for me as an enthusiast who enjoys overclocking my system for optimal performance. It not only disrupts the stability of my computer but slows my production time down due to voltage for lights and ram coming from the ram slots to power the ram and the lights. Perhaps there is a better company practice in a way to mitigate the power draw on own pins to adjust the voltages to ensure proper functioning of both the lights and the RAM, even during heavy load scenarios. The only way I can stop this is turn Aura off when I want to use my system for heavy work loads. Anyone else had this same problem? 13. Alright, before I go and daily these settings, could anyone tell me if they're safe? PBO is configured with Auto Scalar & Default Limits Asus Core Performance Boost is enabled. Curve Optimiser set to -15 on almost all cores and -10 on two of them (this is what I found to be stable, -30 wouldn't even boot). Core, SOC Voltages are set to Auto, reading as 1.353V and 1.080V in CMOS respectively. In single-threaded workloads, VID reads between 1.2V and 1.26V Clocks range between 4.69Ghz (nice) and 4.95Ghz in single-threaded workloads, steady at 4.6Ghz all-core in Cinebench Max temperatures are around 87⁰C (it's a bit toasty but I think this is all my NH-D15 can do at over 210W all-core) DOCP at 3600Mhz, Auto Voltage reading at 1.352V System Specs: AMD Ryzen 5950X (PBO Enabled, Core Enhancements Enabled) Noctua NH-D15 chromax Corsair Vengence LPX 3600Mhz/C16 (DOCP Enabled) Asus Crosshair Dark Hero VIII X570 Samsung 980 Pro 1TB x2 LG Optical Drive Hotplug 2.5 inch SATA Bay Samsung 870 Evo 2TB Nvidia RTX 3090 Founders LSi 9211-8i HBA 5x Seagate IronWolf Pro 6TB Corsair HXi 1000W PSU
  14. My i5 11400H has clocked upto 13,000 Mhz\1 Insane... The CPU turbo's officially to 4.5 yet I have captured it at 13Ghz! It has been captured in CPUID HARDWARE MONITOR. Anyone else got any screenshots of their crazy clocks?
  15. Can't overclock, tried alot of things, Nothing seems to get it to work. Using an AMD Radeon HD 8790m with a i7-4800MQ. Any fixes or is it just completely locked forever? I couldn't even get it to undervolt! (Note, I'm using Dells GPU drivers because the official drivers bluescreen.) It seems important that you the reader should know that im using the adrenalin drivers.
  16. I have searched the inter-webs for any information on overclocking these data center cards. But It seems that only the M series and the K series have been overclocked by enthusiasts. Has anyone had any experience with the pascal generation though? I can get the card to run as a normal graphics card passing through an IGPU, but MSI afterburner can't change the frequency. I assume the bios is locked in some way. I'll take a sketchy bios, regedits, or something insane like soldering the card, anything at all that could help! thanks y'all
  17. I had an extremely hot chip that would hit 105C at 300w power and was a little unstable. I asked for help previously and their solution was undervolting the chip. I attempted to do this and brung the chip from 1.5V to 1.3V. It brung the power down too to about 215W. The issue I am having now is that the chip goes really fast (5.8 ghz) for about 2 seconds and then goes to 1.5GHZ! What did I do wrong and how can I fix it.
  18. I'm currently working with some very obscure and interesting hardware at the moment, long story short this is an ES of a 11980hk on a m-atx board. I'm currently attempting to OC this chip to its limits, but I've hit a bit of a snag in the process and could use a few extra heads to figure it out I'm hitting current limits in windows under all core workloads and the chip is refusing to draw more than 110w, XTU and Throttlestop ICC limits aren't changing anything, package temps under P95 SFFTS don't pass 75c I've been messing around in the bios but I can't seem to find anything referring to current draw and possibly raising it. The bios on this bad boy is definitely dated, but fully functional when it comes to overclocking. Any help is appreciated Board and CPU I'm using for reference: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805120525780.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.1.54d023e7R6aaQY&algo_pvid=41b6dc3d-7188-4963-9720-0b72da700757&algo_exp_id=41b6dc3d-7188-4963-9720-0b72da700757-0&pdp_ext_f={"sku_id"%3A"12000032569592621"}&pdp_npi=3%40dis!USD!388.4!190.32!!!!!%4021021b4716796295270385129d0701!12000032569592621!sea!US!2019284271&curPageLogUid=izXaVx6zvPbc Edit: posting screen of XTU setting under P95 load
  19. Help! My PC keeps crashing. I've had games crash from overclocking/instability before. However, I've never had crashes like this. Yesterday I was a few hours into playing the new expansion in Destiny 2 and my entire PC instantly turned off as if I pulled the power cord out of the socket. Since then, it's been happening more frequently. Today it crashed only about 20 minutes in. Usually, it runs perfectly at 4k getting anywhere from 130 to 165 fps in 4k max settings. My only guess is that I may be overloading my power supply? Any ideas would be appreciated PC Specs: -GPU: Powercolor RedDevil rx 7900xt (overclocked to 2750 MHz memory, +15% power limit, 2.8 - 3.2 GHz GPU, adjusted fan curve and temps 58 to 80 C) -CPU: r7 5800x3d (not overclocked) -16 Gb ddr4 3600 MHz -Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 Gaming -CPU Cooler: Arctic liquid freezer 240 AIO -Case: Hyte Y40 -PSU: Corsair RM850x (the PSU is about 5 years old) -Storage: Mvme, and SATA SSD
  20. I have a 4770K lying around and am planning on playing around with overclocking it. I'm looking for some cheap coolers that can handle this (surely coolers that can manage an overclocked 4770K have gotten cheaper, right?), and these ones peaked my interest: Cooler Master Hyper H411R Silverstone Krypton K02 Cooler Master Hyper H412R be quiet! Pure Rock Slim 2 Antec A40PRO Antec C40 #4 seems to be the best option here, with #3 being a close second. I'm going to be running the system on an open-air testbench as well. Do you reckon those coolers will be up to the task?
  21. Hi guys! First post here, and i'm here to get some help. I'd like to overclock my cpu but never did that and I don't know if i'm doing in the best way possible (doubt it). I have a: i9 9900kf noctua nh-d14 Asus Z390-plus gaming 32Gb of ddr4 ram (I think they are hyper x fury at 3000mhz but i'm not sure) zotac rtx 3060 At the moment I arrived at 5ghz stable with an avarage temperature of 85/86 degrees on xtu benchmark. I have a core offset voltage of -0.030v, 50x Pcore ratio and a 43x on Pcache ratio. if there is any way to improve this I'd love to do it. thanks in advance to anyone who will try to help me (also sorry if i don't speak very good english but it's not my primary language).
  22. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: MSI RTX 2080 Gaming x Trio Mobo: Asus Rog strix B450-F Gaming RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200Mhz CL16 Hello! So I started to overclock a Bit, starting with my RAM. Its 3200mhz CL16 rated. Putting it on 1.36V I was able to oc it to 3600mhz at 16-18-18-18-36 stable. Well I Had an Error in Prime95 after 2 hours so something isn't 100% right but Im Not Sure exactly If its the RAM. Then I Took a Look at my CPU. I noticed when I leave it all on Auto and have Things precision Boost Overdrive or the Core Performance Boost active I boosts the 3600 to about 4.05 GHz with it fluxuation around which I think is normal with These Options right? In idle it then jumps around Like normal to save Power etc. The Thing is on Auto is pushed the CPU vcore to 1.4 under load, peeking at about 1.45V-1.47V. That is too mich right? Maybe should I deactivate Things Like LLC or there is another setting with 4 different Levels on Auto I could Set to for example "Level 1". And on top of that another question. If I overclock my CPU for example on 4.1 GHz. Now its Always stable on this frequency. How much worse is the Power consumption then roughly because lets say I leave my PC for a couple of hours is it a Lot of Power loss having the pc doing nothing but still at example 4.1Ghz (is there maybe an Option to sett an oc but in idle the CPU still clocks down?) Thank so much If you read all this. I have lots of questions but lets Not make this too long. Glizzymane
  23. I wanted to overclock my cpu but accidentally messed with my gpu overclocking and now my pc won’t give me any visual output. My friend gave me this pc about two years ago and when I gave it to me the gpu was already overclocked. It actually works really well for only being a Radeon rx580 but the cpu was seriously bottlenecking it (ryzen 3 1200) as well as the ram which is only 8gb. I decided to overclock the cpu until I upgrade the system to am5 later but I didn’t realize that Mai afterburner is actually for GPUs and not CPUs (I am very retarded) anyway I was increasing the load without any crashes slowly until eventually I decided it was fine and went to run war thunder (yeah i was too lazy to install a benchmark as well). Anyway it crashed and when I tried to reboot it crashed again. Now when I try to boot it the pc turns on and the fans spin up and everything but there is no visual output. I tried taking out the gpu to run on integrated graphics but that isn’t getting anything either. Is it so over for me boys? Did I Brick the pc?

  25. So i was over a friends house and we love PCs, we reassemble our computers every other week, and this happended: i personally have the 1600 ( which is a silicon lottery winner goes up to 4,2Ghz overclocked) and for fun we attempted to overclock my friend's cpu the 2600. So based on the stock voltages (1.2 core, 1.3 SoC reported by HWMonitor) i tried to overclock to 4Ghz ( stock 3.4 boost 3.9 ) with a small voltage alteration ( 1.18 core 1.2 Soc) and i didnt even power cycle , just turned on and did nothing until we force shutdown the system after 5 minutes ( not even got to the bios just black screen ). Then we cleared the CMOS with the standard procedure and the bios came up and asked if we wanted to reset the settings. I clicked yes and it restarted, but no display after that. We mounted his CPU onto my PC and it did the same. We mounted my CPU onto his and it worked. Needless to say we tried different GPUs or removing the GPU entirely for the boot sequence, as well as CMOS reset and we also attempted a boot sequence with 1 RAM stick. Nothing changed, no display, no boot and we assumed the CPU was dead. My assumption was that the mobo overvolted the cpu with the stock clocks just after the bios reseted. I might be wrong, but i believe the small bump i did in clocks with the SLIGHT undervolt could not kill a cpu. Something else happended and i have no idea :(( Does anyone know what happened and why?
