Hello I have a Dell PowerEdge R620. I booted Ubuntu server off a usb and installed it on one of the hard drives. However upon reboot I am getting no bootable device found. Not sure where to go from here or what setting I am overlooking. Thanks for the help in advance

Went afk for a while and came back to a "operating system not found, try removing devices that do not contain a os" screen, re-started my pc removing the external HDD and it booted just fine. Skip to me running the disk scans and checking checking the health of SSD and hdd, SSD was at 69% health and hdd showed as "good" so I went ahead and did a cmd check disk schedule for repairing any corrupted files. As I restarted the pc, it went ahead with the C drive scan but got stuck at 16% for 5mins and then displayed a blue screen which I have attached below, Restarting again now doesn't boot up the windows anymore but displays the bios with SSD nowhere to be found. I had a situation similar to this ~3 yrs back, where it was a faulty psu that bricked my ssd, I replaced both and everything was fine, I have been seeing usual readings in my intel xtu which displays -3.7Ghz or +22Ghz sometimes, thought it was a faulty error and uninstalled xtu entirely. What are my options now ? Thanks for any feedback.

hay all need suggestion/help i finally managed to scrape enough money to finish my server (bought 2 8tb hdd's). I am building my server in an old HAF case with an i5 or i7 (cant remember exactly which) 16gb ram and my new hdd's plus a 100gb ssd boot drive. I want to have a storage server a plex server and if possible a minecraft/feed the beast server(heavily modded but for local play only) it has to automatically use the 2nd hdd has a redundent backup and if possible backup to pcloud servers. i need access to it from anywhere in the world/country but if its uploaded to pcloud that might not be a problem. as its mostly going to be photos and videos I need to be able to see thumbnails of at least the photos. About the plex side of things its mostly old cartoon DVD's i have copied or intend to copy as well as a few old DVD's I have if the server can rip the DVD's that would be extremely helpful. the files are for long term storage and are accessed rarely. also I want to create dvd/Blu-ray copy of certain folders for an extra level of backup redundancy (though I could probably do that on my main pc) I have 0 firmilularity with the different os's for nas's but am starting to understand Linux, all be it, still a noob (run steam deck desktop as my daily driver) anyway any advice suggestions would be appreciated. kurzon p.s. eventually I want to create an offsite family based backup as I'm setting up a nas for my retiring parents and something that would be cool is to have a had auto backed up there just in case. p.s.s. never trust Microsoft with your data they screwed me over so trying to do this without need of internet or subscription(where possible) p.s.s.s. I'm just looking into docker containers if that affects anything

I couldn't see a topic with the key details of my scenario in mind, so I apologise if this is re-treading old ground. I've made a new computer (Intel i5 12600K, RX 6600XT ((got it during silicon shortage, FOMO got me good)), and components which seem fairly reasonably complimentary ((Z690 DDR4 board, 32GB of G.Skill memory, etc.)), first fully independent build, too). I made it *successfully*, too, booted to Windows (10) without issues as I followed the Last Guide I'll Ever Need. A problem happened when I installed extra hard drives afterwards; wasn't the drives that seemed to be the issue (I've spent days of troubleshooting to narrow the issue down, that's not my main concern at this point), but it seems like I might have had static discharge on the motherboard, and it no longer boots into Windows, and doesn't seem to be reparable in a way I am capable of under my current circumstances. I'm not prepared to wait for a month whilst seeing if I can claim my warranty, so I bought a new motherboard, and a question just occurred to me. My question is this: is it possible that I can take the OS drive, the one I intended to use and still want to use, which again is brand new and freshly OS-ed, and just *slap it in* without much concern? I imagine getting a fresh drive, or clearing that OS drive and starting again might be a cleaner process, but this would be *super* convenient for me if I could just shove it in without worry. The SSD, if this has any bearing on this problem, is a Samsung 970 EVO Plus, NVMe and 1TB SSD. If the answer is "WHOA THERE DON'T DO THAT YOU'LL FRY YOUR LOCAL POWER GRID" or something less hyperbolic, how would I clear my OS drive to either repurpose it, or reinstall the OS onto it cleanly? The installation process would be fine, I have the materials for it, but clearing the drive I'm not familiar with. Thanks, in advance, and make sure to ground yourself like a smart person, rather than juggling hard drives like a clown with two motherboards.

I have a desktop using a Intel Core i5-3470, with 8GB DDR3 RAM, a 128GB SSD I want to use as a boot drive, and 2 500GB HDD that I want to store my Plex Library and Minecraft server on, I have tried this and googled all over the place and nothing gets me a coherent tutorial on how to do this, I can't seem to get Plex to recognize any folders on the HDDs when Linux Mint Vera is installed on the SSD, currently the computer is running windows 10 just as a proof of concept, but I am running into issues and want Linux Mint instead of Windows. Can anyone link me to a tutorial for beginners or directly help me out, I am willing to hop into a call to figure this out.

Hi guys. just 2 hours ago ive tried a netsh winsock reset due to me following a guide on an article for a problem I had ingame. After I did the netsh winsock reset, I rebooted my PC and now im in some trouble. When I hover over my taskbar, I get a blue pinwheel and I can only access things if I spam it for a while. Whenever I press the windows button the screen goes black for 0.5/s,all my icons on desktop disappear for a millisecond and nothing really happens. Ive tried getting to settings by win+I which worked however when I tried to troubleshoot my network it comes up without problem and when I try see my available networks the button goes grey after ive pressed it and eventually crashed the settings tab and I can't see any networks when I press the network button on the taskbar either. Is my pc ok? Is there a fix? Has anyone experienced this? Any answers help, thanks.

I have several drives, and reinstalled windows onto another one 256GB ssd 1TB ssd I used to have windows on the 256 one, but reinstalled it onto the 1TB one. Ever since, it kept loading up with dual windows, although I only have it installed on the 1TB one (the 256GB drive is EMPTY, and wanted to remove it eventually) Today I removed the 256 drive and windows couldn't load, did not recognize the windows folder from C:. I put the 256GB drive back and I'm typing this thread now, looking for solution without cleaning off windows and reinstall everything. Have you ever met with this issue?

Hello everyone, I was able to get a couple of old servers that were being thrown out at my work. One is a PowerEdge R210 And I am not sure of the other one but its manufacturer is Dedicated Computing, LLC. The issue I'm having with these is they are pretty old (but work) and they were not wiped before being thrown out. I am not able to download anything or even update the system. One of which is currently running windows 7. Is there a way for me to basically completely wipe these servers so I can have full access to them? The original administrator is still on these servers and obviously I do not have the password to get in. Do I need to install a new OS? or is there something else I need to do? Please keep in mind that I am not very tech savvy with this kind of stuff so instructions on what to do would be very helpful for me. If more information is needed please let me know and I will do my best to provide it. Thank you

Hey all, I'm fresh into server/NAS setups, and my knowledge is minimal on the entire process. I have my old PC (Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB ram, GTX 1060) running TrueNas Core with a small scrap SSD. This holds a small SMB share (holds non-important data currently due to limited space and need), an always-running home assistant VM and occasionally a Linux VM running a Minecraft server. My next forte is into setting up a better NAS setup (installing usable storage, using it for semi-significant files), and a plex (or alternative) for hosting my old DVD / Blu-Ray collection. That said, I'd like to make the move now to something more flexible, allowing me to create VMs with GPU passthrough, etc. in the future, as I've learned that TrueNAS core doesn't support passthrough at all, and Scale requires a host GPU when one is installed despite being fully functional headless. TL;DR: I need a more all-in-one OS for my home-server, any recommendations are appreciated!

I am looking to create an OS that will run on Replit.com, a cloud-based coding website for those of you who don’t know, and am looking for advice and assistance. I barely know python and want to learn to code it in a different language because I know that python is not very efficient for things like this, and also would like to learn more languages to be a more advanced programmer. If you need more info, just ask.

i cant for the love of god remember the term or the software used to make a hard drive a preinstalled os for deployment to any system. It's not rufus it's when you get example a dell, hp or what ever computer and it boots up just asking for your login details.

Okay so, I now need a new SSD for my Mac Mini (A1347) 2014 We are going to purchase one but before doing so I just need a few guiding steps Heres what I am concerned about - Internet recovery mode, disk utility only has OS X Base system drive - Does this mean I would have to get a USB bootable stick and install the OS (Monterey) through internet recovery on install new OS, shutdown, then do the SSD Replacement, then boot off the stick? - I feel if I don't install the OS beforehand on this old one with a USB stick, then I don't know if I can enter Internet recovery mode/disk utility/ or anything at that matter on the new SSD - wouldn't it just be a blank SSD? Hence why I have once again come back to LTT, everyone here is amazing the forum and help is beyond Few things to add I will be doing the replacement of the SSD for the Mac Mini Before doing so I want to make sure I am doing it the proper way... Install OS Monterey on USB boot stick through internet recovery mode? - Will it be possible to move that OS from the USB to the new SSD later??? or Just go ahead with installing a new SSD? Thank you

Let me run you down of what happened… I have a Mac Mini, it had high sierra It wasn’t a while I had used it, So I decided to update, to Monterey OS Ran Smoothly on new OS Woke up /Mac/startup Error… I tried running Internet recovery mode but didn’t have much time that day I couldn’t do anything with it Today I came back to the problem This is where I am Started Mac Mini on Internet recovery mode through Power - CMD OPT R It started me off on a different look, the Monterey OS, but I still can’t install the OS because I have no disk? Where did it go ? I don’t care about files or documents anymore I need to Re install Operating System The only “Two” disks are Apple Disk image Media macOS Base System When I try to install it asks for what Drive to install but I can’t click anything. Frustrating, Lost all my documents and files because of this OS upgrade, “Cannot” reinstall, I think someone can help me I have posted this on Apple Community as well, I just would like some help thank you I do not want to buy External Hard drive, this is my last resort to doing anything.

I tried: windows 7 -slow windows10 -still slow and has a compatibility problem with gpu driver. Ubuntu - better but still not much faster, same problem with gpu driver.. i dont know much about linux and the driver instalation in ubuntu was a nightmare. Is there anything not outdated i could use on this netbook?..where all drivers will work. Only software i need is internet browser and hw accelerated movie player basically.

Country: United States Other details Hello! I purchased a Dell R210 server recently and I am trying to get it set up. I am looking for some help with that. I purchased 2 HDDS, an 8TB and 12TB, everything else was included with the server. https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/supportedos/poweredge-r210 Straight from Dell, these are the only OS' that will run on this machine, I'm wondering which one to use, preferably a free one if there is one. My end goal is to set up a jellyfin media server, not really trusting in plex as of now. Thank you for any and all help! --Matt

Hello, I recently bought a new NVME (250GB) to function as a boot device, so i can boot faster. I want to move the OS but not the programs or the files in my HDD since they are about 600GB, and obviously won't fit in my new drive. Is there a way of taking just the OS and leave everything else behind? or maybe, can I install a new clean Windows in the new drive and make it recognize my installed programs in the HDD?

Budget (including currency): $2,300 give or take Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CoD MW2, heavily modded Ark, Halo, and Elder Scrolls Online mainly, have several other games but those are the main ones Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/user/demonicvampiregirl/saved/fcCyFT this is the current WIP for the build I am planning. I have a few questions on specific parts of the build but otherwise, it is done. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/demonicvampiregirl/saved/CxPCzy this is my PC I am currently using. I am not keeping anything from it besides the speakers, mouse, keyboard, monitors and headset listed. I'm going to give it to a family member that needs a better PC. Do note with that PC that the cooler is a place holder, the one mine has comes from the company it was built from, that is the closest I can find as an example. I'm hoping to buy within the next month or two hopefully. 2560 x 1440 resolution is the aim. As for refresh rate, whatever works for whatever game. I try to match the game monitor I have but if I can't, I just lower it as needed. My main questions are about the CPU, cooler/cooling in general, and OS. I'm not looking to change anything else on the build and the RAM being bumped from 32 to 64 is all depending on the other changes, so no need to worry about any other parts of the build. I've had many people tell me I don't need that much storage but between 3 CoD games being nearly 300-400GB combined with Ark being nearly 500GB without mods, I'm going to want extra storage for other games as well. So I'm going to stick with 4TB+ on storage. Anyway, I'm wanting to potentially stream from this PC when I get my internet upgraded, my problem is should I get the i5-13600KF or the i7-13700KF? As this will be done with one PC rather than two, I am a bit concerned on it impacting my performance. I know one is roughly 100 cheaper than the other but it will still fit within budget if I change it to the i7. The other questions I had about these cores was how hot will they get if I am gaming and streaming from the same one? My room is on the hotter end of the house and I do try to keep it under 75F if at all possible, humidity around 45 or below. I also remember seeing that getting a Thermal Grizzly contact frame will help, is this still recommended for those cores? As for the cooling and cooling in general, I have been looking at the Noctua NH-D12, Phanteks Glacier One 360MPH (if they come out with a 420 version, I'll consider it as well), and a Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420 A-RGB coolers. I've thought multiple times about going all air cooling this round, but that all depends on how hot I can expect the core to get with streaming. I do recall someone mentioning on reddit that they had found out that their MSI board was oversupplying their CPU with 100 watts and when he changed that, it dropped the temps down and was no longer thermal throttling on cinebench. I know that when I am gaming and/or streaming, I should not expect to see anything close to what cinebench displays as that is meant to test your PCs. I'm just honestly curious on if air cooling is an option or if I should just stick with AIO cooling. I also intend to set the PC over close to the AC, mainly so the heat no longer vents directly onto my legs as with where my current PC is. It will be about 2-3 feet from it at that point. The other issue I had was with the OS, I saw where Windows 10 was discontinued and I do not want an OEM version of the system. So that leaves me with Windows 11, I've been hearing multiple things about how it doesn't result in performance loss on a clean install, then I keep seeing that it does affect performance and something with the drivers either way. I'm so confused on this part anymore. What do I need to watch out for if I cannot find a Windows 10 copy and need to use Windows 11? Sorry if this got long, I'm trying to figure out things and I've got a lot of questions. I always try to give as much information as well. I'll probably have more after, I'm always looking into things when it comes to hardware.

Budget (including currency): N/A CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: NAS media server Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey everyone! So I'm looking to build/setup a NAS media server for my personal home use, and I just wanted to fish for some opinions on the best configurations and setups. So far I've decided on using RAID10, for larger drive capacity and redundancy. I know that's not a true backup along the "3, 2, 1" route, but it's not going to be important data, just media files, and I'm going to maintain a directory list so I can just reacquire the data in the event a catastrophic loss occurs. But I'm getting hung up on what I should use when it comes to OS, type of enclosure, etc. . I've heard a lot of good things about TrueNAS, and Unraid, so I'm going to do a deeper dive on those after posting this. I want it to be always on, so NAS enclosures are attractive in that way. But I also want a high degree of customizability, and also a much higher number of drive bays than most NAS enclosures support. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Right now my OS is on a 120GB Kingston SSD and I have a 1TB Seagate HDD for my games and large files, I plan on getting an additional SSD, still choosing between a 500GB PNY CS3030 NVME or Samsung 870/860 SATA, but once I get one, would it make a noticeable performance difference if I have the OS on the newer drive? Or is it fine to leave it as is?
