Hey! I am going to build a gaming pc for $500. Its gonna be for gaming, after light-medium, web browsing, benchmarks, youtube videos. I need a monitor 1080p monitor below $150 (below $100 may work too but I dont see any good quality monitors below $100). It has to have AMAZING bang for buck but not go above my budget. I have been looking for weeks but cant find one so I turned to the forum cause I know they will help me out. If you guys can help I will start a thread for budget gaming monitors and help more people there! any information on the monitor will be greatly appreciated Thanks, Sribeast21

I'd like to make just a simple deathmatch fps game that I can play at school with my friends with a few different guns or power ups but I don't know which engine I should start on, Unity or Unreal engine. I have plenty of time to learn a language (like c# or c++) If I need too

So I've finished building my new gaming and media PC and soon I'll have enough money again to buy a proper set of headphones that I've been in dire need of for a long time. I read through the FAQ and theorized that I probably don't need to upgrade my onboard audio chip, and if I do it'll probably be a desktop amplifier like the FiiO E17 or something like that. I would consider myself a budding audio appreciator and although I'm not in love with the sound quality of my ASRock Extreme4, it is an improvement over my previous setup. And besides, upgrading my sound source may not improve the quality in ways that I want, so I'm focusing instead on a set closed-back headphones for both gaming, movies and music. But I have a question: Set of audiophile headphones and a separate lapel microphone? or Professional wireless gaming headset? I generally use descreet in-earphones (Ultimate Ears 700's) when out and about, but I would like to try a set of headphones and see how it fares. For home use I will definitley be taking advantage of the headphones (or my M-Audio AV40 speakers) because of the additional noise isolation, comfort (I find in-earphones to make my ears itchy after only an hour of use), immersion, and arguably improved audio quality. I have a budget of around £250, but the headsets and headphones that I've been looking at are more expensive so I may need to adjust by saving up for another few weeks. I do believe in buying an extremely high quality set of headphones, because unlike other hardware (like graphics cards), they can last for decades and perform beautifully all throughout that time. I still have decent headphones lying around that my mother used to listen to her Black Sabbath and Genesis records on in her youth. They're huge and uncomfortable, but the sound and build quality is still there. In other words, I'm willing to put forward the extra money because I consider it a solid investment. The problem is, I'm not sure which route to take. The headphone option with a separate mic makes more sense because it will have higher quality sound, but I prefer the idea of a wireless gaming headset that also performs well with music and movies. The headsets I'm looking at are the Astro A40/50's, Steelseries H Wireless, Turtle Beach Ear Force XP510, Logitech G930, Sennheiser PC363D, Beyerdynamic MMX300, and maybe a coupe of other variations of the same themes. The headphones I'm looking at are the Sony MDR 7506, PSB M4U1, Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro/Premium, V-Moda Crossfade M100's, Audio-Technica ATH-M50, AKG K550/551, and whatever else in that bracket. What do you folks suggest? There is convenience in a wireless gaming headset like the Astro A50's because they function on all consoles, which will be essential for me. But then there is great convenience in having a 'better' sounding set of headphones that can used for everything including going to the shops to buy some chocolate. Thoughts? Sorry for the long post. I tend to get carried away. Awesome site you have here, by the way.

Hi,I want to get people's opinion on my plans for a PC upgrade. I want to be more futureproof as my CPU cant handle new games like Arma 3 in multiplayer and I want Battlefield 4 to be maxed out. Im going to buy a new CPU, Mobo, CPU Cooler, and Case. If you think my current Corsair H60 with a Noctua NF-F12 will workout the way I need it let me know after you read the specs. If you think I should get an Intel 4670k instead of an AMD FX-8350 let me know why. I feel they are very similiar and I will be saving money on the AMD FX-8350 which is a plus. I also noticed higher threads have increased perforamnce in ARMA games. I am also thinking about getting a second 7870 for crossfire and thats not a priority right now as i want to figure out my other parts first. I am also all about saving as much money as I can, I feel the high end cooler and mobo( I prefer ASUS) will be needed for me to mess around in overclocking. I want the new case because its roomy and has a window and i like the way it looks. I am only 17 so i am going to pick out the parts i want now and save money for it by Black Friday and buy it then. My Current PC: CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2Ghz Quad Core Black Edition CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler with a single Noctua NF-F12 Motherboard: Asus M4A79XTD EVO Memory: Kingston Black Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk Storage: OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive(5 years old, to be reused) Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card Sound Card: Asus Xonar DG 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card Case: Antec Three Hundred ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply(5 years old, to be reused) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer Planned Upgrade: CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor(BRAND NEW) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler with 2 Noctua NF-F12's(BRAND NEW) Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard(BRAND NEW) Memory: Kingston Black Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory(reused) Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk(reused) Storage: OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD(reused) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive(5 years old, reused) Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card(reused) Sound Card: Asus Xonar DG 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card(reused) Case: NZXT Phantom 530 White(BRAND NEW) Power Supply: OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply(5 years old, reused) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer(reused) Final Questions: AMD FX-8350 or Intel 4670K according to my needs? If you think Intel please suggest a Mobo, too. Is my choice of Mobo too much? I want to learn some overclocking and mess around Is it dangerous to keep using this PSU? my friend told me its fine and just keep using it until it dies. Will my Corsair H60 suffice for the 8350 or 4670k? i do feel like i need the H100i though.

Hello, I wonder if this is worth it to buy a blue led version for my blue and black system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctfjxy17LnY My current keyboard is a Logitech G105 MW3... it's green and it doesn't stuck with my theme... I got it with a G9X, and, for calm down myself, I said, the blue is intel and the green is for Nvidia... The keyboard that I want is a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate (Cherry MX Blue) who makes a lot of noise, I like that! There's a last blue led AZERTY layout on amazon, what would you take instead of a green g105 if you had a same system as mine? the blue one costs about 160€ and the green 140€

Hello Community, i want to build my own PC and i am asking myself which CPU fan i should buy. Which one is the best, the EKL Alpenföhn Brocken or EKL Alpenföhn Brocken 2 or the EKL Alpenföhn Brocken Eco? The below pictures are just examples and not explicitly what I'm asking about. Which would you prefer in any particular situation, where you had to have one, or the other directly influencing/affecting you (i.e. video game companies, the government, etc.)? Both or neither is not an option unfortunately. Malevolence (Evil) OR Incompetence (Stupid) Chart for reference: Where "Greed" is "Malevolence (Evil)". I personally would prefer incompetence. I can out-do incompetence. To a degree. Malevolence is harder to deal with since benevolence doesn't have a default (straightforward, understood) advantage. I don't know. What about you?

Hey, I have one GTX 660 in my system and have been contemplating whether i should buy another GTX 660 and put them in SLI or if i should buy a new card like the GTX 780. What would preform better? and what are the pros of having a single card? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also i have a 600W PSU, Would that be enough to power both cards if i choose to go SLI?

i was wondering which one would you get if you had the choice and why??

Hey, I was wondering if I should get a GTX 780 DirectCU II or just buy 2 GTX 760's DirectCU II and run them in sli. My machine will be a gaming rig. Thanks.
-
I found a great deal, MSI Lighting was in the same price as the ASUS Direct CU 2. So not considering the price, what do I should get. Please do not say that EVGA or Gigabyte is better, there are only deals for the ones y mentioned.I'm from Europe don't tell me about deals in Canada or USA. Thanks. I've also considered the 7970 or X280, but I think 770 is better. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello all! So I'm working on a project to add VESA mounts to my monitors (Using some acrylic), and I'm looking for stands. I saw the review of the Ergotech (I think was the brand) monitor stand that Linus posted. It looks nice, but it's 200 dollars! Besides seeing the stands, would three, one monitor arms work just as well? I can get three stands, that have all of the same benefits, from something like this, http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=109&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082808&p_id=6421&seq=1&format=2 All for like 75 dollars. What would the benefits be of getting one stand with three (and is there a cheaper option?), vs, getting three stands with one arm (Any suggestions on a best buy?) Thanks all

Simpy put this thread has been made in order to get an idea of the results various different people have been getting with their i5 4690K's and i7 4790K's, anywhere from the worst chip to the best chip on LTT. I personally am getting my own in a few weeks and will be sharing my results on here. This format would be appreciated: CPU: i5 or i7 Highest Overlock: Highest Stable Overclock: (Minimum 12 hours) Vendor: (Place where you bought it from) All in all this should help give everyone an idea on the average highest OC achieved in general Whether the chips live up to the hype And lastly what store produces/sells the best chips around. Thanks.

If you're wondering on the low price of bf4, gamestop is having a sale for the digital version of bf4 and it's $25 USD. I also have some codes that give me $15 off. So, is it worth it to wait for hardline, and is it much of a difference? I never got to play the beta since I built my first rig a few days after it ended . Thanks.

I recently finished my new pc build and I am loving how well it preforms. However I am still using my old 60hz 1080p monitor so I am not receiving full advantage of this £1600 ($2500) build. I have watched many reviews of high refresh rate 1440p monitors and I'm unsure of how much of a difference this has over 60hz and whether its worth the price difference between a this and a 4K monitor for the same price. I have also been watching a few affordable 4k monitor reviews, yes I am aware that it needs a lot higher specs to run on high+ settings, however for the price of the Samsung U28D590D would this be better to buy as I would see more of a difference than a 1440p and then in time buy a second / third GPU (R9 290x) or this the benefits of higher refresh rates better than the crisper images and benefits of 4K? Any help will be good as I want to find out what is the best for gaming and the price I'm looking to spend less than £600 on a monitor Thanks:)
