Hello! I've got a system running in a Fractal Design R6 and up until Xmas I was running with stock fans. Was planning on an upgrade so I spoke about this to family and gf. Long story short, got two sets of fans for Xmas... 3 x Corsair ML 120 RGBs (parents) 3 x Noctua NF-F12 iPPC 2000 PWM (GF kept hearing me talk about Noctua so she got the right brand but idk about the model. IPPCs run loud). Adding the 3 x Fractal Design 140mm stock AND a Noctua Chromax 140mm I got for a different project that fell through... I am trying to achieve a good balance between cooling and noise (I hate loud PCs). Specs: Ryzen 2700x with Noctua NH D15 EVGA 2080 TI XC 16GB Trident Z RAM OC to 3466Mhz Corsair H850i PSU So here's the thing: what is the best combo to use for maximum cooling but keeping it quiet? I really like the RGB on the ML120s but it's not a deal breaker. Stock is running pretty hot (83C GPU under load, CPU ~65C under load). What can I do guys? I appreciate the help

I have the below specs i7 4790 Vega 64 @1550mhz core and 1100mhz memory. 16GB Ram ddr3 1600mhz Powered by thermaltake smart se 730watt LG Ultrawide 2560x1080 @80hz. Rig is running on normal temps, no throttling, all drivers are updated. New OS, power options are set to high performance, no viruses, no malwares. Im having issue running games smoothly, i get huge FPS drops, and low FPS. Eg. Total war warhammer 2, its hard to play the game on high smoothly i get fps drops to 40s specially when battle contains many units. Watch dogs 2, i get 50s fps regardless of quality as it will have minor change in FPS. Far cry 5 fps drops to 50s on high, company of heroes in 50s amd sometimes 40s, mass affect andromeda similar issue. BO4, get fps dips to 50s, BF 5 is unplayble at all even on medium. Are games becoming badly optimized? I know i have a good righ that shouldnt have issue in running modern games at stable 70 - 80 FPS.

DX12 and Vulkan are no essential in every game, im surprised that big titles like BO4, assassins creed... Etc are still not supporting atleast DX12! amd im sure that they dont want to waste their time and money into optimizing games because they are greedy. I have vega 64 and i7 4790 and when using DX12 i get around 20% increase in performance and steady FPS, same goes to Vulkan In 2019 all developers should have DX12 enabled in their games and AMD should do something to encourage them as their cards work better on them.

Hey guys, so as the title hints - I want to install a Linux distribution on a flash drive for various reasons and I'm looking for the optimal way of doing it. However, I want some feedback on this quite popular project (does it work ok, ia it too laggy, glitchy and what kind of a flash drive should I aim for). Which distro would run the best on a thumb drive? I've used Ubuntu and Mint before but I don't mind trying others. So far I believe I would need a usb 3.0 instead of a 2.0, not only to boot faster but also to run faster and hopefully not get a lot of stuttering. Also I believe a 64gb one would be recommended if I want to install some things and increase its usebility. Am I missing something? Any special notes to take? Any other recommendations? If you got any other tips on this, please share. Thanks in advance!

I have a med-high end gaming PC, i7 4790 RX Vega 64 Asus B85M-G 16GB DDR3 1600MHZ 2560X1080 @75hz LG Ultrawide monitor. I can run mostly all AAA heavy games at the highest available resolution at an acceptable playable capped at 75FPS (monitor limit), such as Shadow of the tomb raider Shadow of war BF1 BF5 Mass Effect Andromeda BO4 TW: Warhammer 2 Ashes of singularity Destiny 2 Frostpunk . . Etc. Now coming to Ubitsoft games, they have the worst optimization for a big company, small developers have better optimized games than them. Its like ubisoft dont care about PC gaming society and their main concern is console society, therefore not spending more time on optimization or coding DX12 or Vulkan into their games. They have pretty good games like Wildlands, assassin's creed odyssey, watch dogs 2 and other titles but they all run poorly, take wildlands vs shadow of war for example, i can run max settings on SoW no sweat, wildlands it sturggles in cities... Ubisoft and other developers and games (BO4 and their bad servers) are just milking PC games for money for little efforts, if they keep it this way consoles will have the upper hand once PS5 is released and other 60FPS capable consoles.

X570 & B550 Discussion on Optimization / Compatibility with Ryzen 4000 There have already been a few forum posts here and there about this topic, I decided to make a forum post that can hopefully be the centerpiece for the discussion in goal to aid others in likely an upcoming popular question. To make this post a little more personalized however, I've taken up plans to build a PC for myself later this year. I originally planned the build with a R5 3600, now that 4000 series news is confirmed to be soon, I'm going to make the smarter move by not pulling a "bought a 20 series GPU before 30 series drop" and get 4000 depending on it's price or get higher end 3000 for cheaper. My situation arises here: It's still too early to tell most likely but I assume one of the two newer chipsets will be more optimized for Ryzen 4000 as a whole. B550 would have been my likely choice for the 3600, but if I get 4000 series, do any of you think it may be best to go with the X570? If so, should it much rather be a high-end X570 then a lower end?

Hello everyone! I've been looking in to optimization of OS ( WIN 10 ) for games lately and came across alot .. and i mean alot of different solutions. Debloating OS of services that run in background Installing debloated drivers for Graphics card Setting up settings in drivers for games Setting Graphic card to run in msi mode Making sure that your PC runs in Ultra or High performance power plan Disabling unused drivers List goes on and on.. So why am i here? I wan to sorta make a quintessence of these techniques and maybe Anthony (@Anjyoun ) could make a cool video about this subject. If im not the first one to ask.. my bad, i looked it to forum and didn't find such topic.

I'm looking forwards to building a new PC Q4 of this year. One thing that has always bothered me. Has been my struggle with getting early access or poorly optimized games to run well. Therefor i have this question. Is there any hardware i should consider, that can help my frame rate in such games? we are talking games with memory leaks and all sorts of flaws. I am not purely looking for a better frame rate in these games. But here is a list of games i believe to be badly optimized from my experience: VRChat DayZ PUBG Arma 2 Arma 3 ARK: Survival Evolved The Forrest Dirt rally in VR Many early access indie games...

Hello all, I built a system back in March since I was home all the time and had the extra time to do so. Anyways, the reason I'm posting this is because I feel like I could do a better job at optimizing the airflow through my case. I have a Fractal Designs Define S2. Yes I know it doesn't have an open mesh front and that is why I'm trying to make what I have work a little better if possible. Attached to this post is a crude drawing to give you a visual representation of the case and how it's laid out. Any suggestions on improving the layout will be greatly appreciated. The 3 fans not attached to the radiator are Corsair 120LL's

Hey Guys, I am a newbie when it comes to building a PC but I think I have enough knowledge to build one BUT, with no confidence if does any good! My budget is +/- 1200 Euro. If you have any advice or optimization tips, Ill gladly take them. The site where I plan to buy the parts is called 'mindfactory', its a well known german website that is very good in terms of customerservice. Here is what I came up with: Mainboard: MSI Z370-A PRO CPU: Intel Core i7 8700K GPU: 8GB MSI GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING or 8GB Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Windforce 3X OC Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16 (Retail) RAM: 16GB G.Skill RipJaws V DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16 Dual Kit Case: Corsair Carbide 270R or Sharkoon TG5 LED Powersupply: 650 Watt Corsair Vengeance Modular 80+ Bronze CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock PRO 4 I do plan to Overclock in the future! I already own Microsoft 10 and peripherals such as a Mechanical Keyboard and a Gaming Mouse. I will buy the BenQ Zowie XL2411P Monitor later on! Thank you for the read! EDIT: I already have 1TB hard disk will buy a SSD later on.

Upon looking at Linus' video on workflow, I was wondering if there's an updated 2018 version for information on building a max system for Adobe video plus 3D rendering. I am having trouble on finding out the cap on what Adobe products can do, particularly in a Mac environment. Everyone I have spoken to who uses the higher core Macs, 10 core and up, aren't seeing a significant improvement in editing/comp workflow for their 4K or even 8K video. I'm trying to pinpoint why the extra cores that they spent a ton of money on are not being used at all. There is very little information online about it - and certainly nothing from Adobe on optimization caps in Mac. Also having trouble finding info about the current GPU utilization on the new Macs. Linus' video on codecs looks like it answers that question for the most part, but is the answer the same in 2018 as it was in 2015? I don't see much issue with Windows 10 PCs in scale for CPU or GPU - it looks like the issue is more on the intermediate codec you are using to edit (as the below video shows). My agency is currently looking at an upgrade for a render server or just a render machine and we have more and more work in 4K, Multicam 4K, and Cinema 4D renders with the idea to expand to Autodesk. We work in Mac predominantly, but are also looking at custom-built PC systems. So, any info along these lines would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to understand if Adobe is keeping up with hardware and, if not, how current their software is in the world of video. I understand Cinema 4D is another world, but we often use Lite (included with Adobe) and the full version, so folks using Adobe may have some insight there as well. My thanks, Susan

Hey guys, gta 5 offline started lagging as I started to play it. I didn't notice this at all on gta 5 online. Is this even normal for a 2k built pc? I have an i7 8700k and gtx 1070 armor OC. I maxed out all settings on it and I have it running at 144hz. Why is it stuttering on me? I find it unacceptable for such an expensive computer. What do I do?

Hi guys,I currently have a Corsair Air 240 case with a Micro ATX motherboard and was wondering if my current fan setup is optimal for sufficient airflow throughout the case. The case has a dual chamber design meaning that the power supply, HDD, SDD, and cables are placed in the back of the case thus leaving a lot of space in the front for airflow. At the time being, I have 2 (120mm) intake fans on the front and 2 (120mm) exhaust fans on the top (none on the back as it only fits 80mm fans and they're notorious for being loud). My concern is that the top intake fan (fan no. 1) will take in cool air but the moment the cool air goes inside the case, the top exhaust fan (fan no. 3) will immediately take it out preventing the cool air from properly circulating the case. Any suggestions on whether my theory is true? Also, another concern I have is that the front intake fans are covered by a metal mesh (pretty standard with most cases nowadays to prevent/reduce dust intake). Although the mesh isn't super thick to the point that it completely blocks the airflow, it does show some sign of impedance. I tested it by placing my hand inside the case with the mesh and without the mesh and the airflow seemed much greater without the mesh attached. Should I be using an airflow optimised fan or should I be using a static pressure fan because I know they're great at going through tight spaces?Drawing of the Fan Placement (Please Look)https://imgur.com/a/BWu6eLink to the case:https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Cases...My buildCase: Corsair Air 240Motherboard: ASRock AB350M PRO4CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1400GPU: Zotac GeForce GTX 1060 6GB AMP! Source: http://www.anandtech.com/show/10183/intels-tick-tock-seemingly-dead-becomes-process-architecture-optimization Well, we have been hearing a lot about Moore's law being dead and stuff recently. I guess this is just another confirmation for that. Intel seems to be officially calling the tick-tock cycle dead as well, and are now moving onto a process architecture optimization cycle, or as I like to call it tick-tock-tack (Sorry if it sounds lame but it makes sense). We all know that instead of bringing Cannonlake this year Intel will be bringing Kaby Lake instead. It was pretty obvious Kaby Lake probably wouldn't be a brand new architecture. Now this is just more confirmation that Kaby Lake will only be some optimizations and not anything new. People have been suggesting a new graphics architecture, which sounds pretty likely to me, and perhaps a few small tweaks to the CPU itself. One thing I am wondering-other silicon chip manufacturers like TSMC seem to still be somewhat following Moore's law. While Intel has postponed 10nm to 2017 and 7nm to at least 2019 and most likely 2020, TSMC has instead said it will begin 10nm this year and have 7nm in 2018. Intel has always had the superior manufacture process at each node, but this probably won't hold true when comparing TSMC 7nm vs Intel 10nm. If Intel is moving to a 3 year cycle while companies like TSMC are not, could this mean Intel will start to fall behind when it comes to manufacturing process? Only time will tell, I guess.

I don't know if there has been another post about the last maintenance on the 4th of April (I think). I just wanted to say you guys did a great job. The Activity Streams are once again loading quickly. The new GUI above the forum body is cool too. A Big Thank You (original): I am not sure who did the work. Thanks guys.

Preface: I don't edit, I'm just curious. I saw Dimitri's video the other day showing how his Macbook Pro using Final Cut seriously outperformed even his FAR more powerful desktop (using Premiere). I always knew there was a lot of optimizations going on, but I never realized quite how much. Anyway, this video got me wondering....where does that optimization come from -- Is it on a software or a hardware level? i.e. I want to know what kind of performance someone running a Hackintosh'd system gets and what specific hardware they're using. The video: As I said, I have no knowlege of rendering, so I don't know how comparable Final Cut is to Premiere -- I can only go by what Dimitri has said in the video. @Aereldor just in case I get some interesting answers.

Heyo dudes! This video's gaining like 300k views a month, and it's driving me insane. Obviously any/all of his subscribers came from this one huge video. So this kid is getting close to a million views on a seemingly boring video. It's driving me crazy trying to figure out why it has so many views. I keep thinking it's bots or he's buying views, but YouTube is too advanced to let that kind of stuff happen now. Try to figure it out, you YouTube experts and SEO geniuses. Thanks in advance, -Jordan HERE'S A LINK TO THE VIDEO:

GTA:V PC page file optimization advice Hey guys, when I just started playing the game I got a few crashes. I red an article about pagefile settings on my samsung SSD, and no crashes so far, but my ram usually sits at 95% usage, CPU usage under 25 and GPU usage is fine, and the GRAM is fine [max 2.8gb used] I'm here to ask you guys if my settings are correct Pagefile settings: http://i.imgur.com/Rp1TUai.png My game is on drive C Computer specs: Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate x64 (Latest windows updates) Samsung 840 PRO 512gb SSD Intel i7 5820k @ 4.0ghz (6 cores/12 threads & water cooled) Gigabyte g1 gtx 970 windforce (Latest drivers) 8gb ram 2133mhz DDR4 (adata) [2x4gb @ duel channel] ASUS X99-A (SOCKET 2011-v3) -- Game settings: I don't think there is a big issue, according to Process Hacker the most GRAM (video ram) used was 2.8gb Shadows, water, and reflections are lowered to "Normal" since in most games they take more resources than they're worth. -- I'm here asking you guys what are the best page-file settings for my 8gb of ram -- both initial and max; I hear GTA:5 loves windows page file even if you have a monster amount of ram. P.S: Temps are not the issue whatsoever. Thanks in advanced!
