Hello! I'm building a pc for my fiance and I'm having quite a few issues with installing windows10 onto an ssd on her pc and am looking for help. Her computer's specs are as followed: -ryzen 7 1700 -asus prime x370-pro -16 GB (2x16) Corsair vengence DDR4 memory -MSI Aero ITX Radeon 560 4Gb -Seagate Barracuda 500 Gb SSD -Corsair TX750W power supply Problem: Windows10 installer keeps on restarting/crashing whenever I try to install windows10. The video details better what is happening (I'm really sorry for it uploading sideways, idk why youtube decided my video needed to be uploaded sideways...), but no matter how I try to install windows, it will always reach the point where the windows logo appears above the loading icon, and then restart. If it doesn't restart, then it will just crash, crash meaning that my usb keyboard and mouse will turn off, and my monitor won't recieve signal coming from my pc even though the pc stays on with nothing else wild happening. I'm really stuck and would appreciate any help that I could be given, Thank you! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl7YcsY38qw

Couple of times now I've tried to download windows 10 iso with the media downloader. The first time my internet went bad the second time the same thing and so on... When I got back on track there will be no means to resume the download from where it stopped. It will always start from the beginning. Is there any suggestions or solutions to the problem. It will be highly appreciated.

Hi everyone. I would like to know if it's possible to download a Windows 10 ISO that is not updated to the (broken, annoying, FUBAR... sorry I'll stop) spring creators update, 1803? Rant about Micro$oft and Windows 10 incoming - skip the spoiler if you don't want to read yet another person whining and moaning about it Rant over - I just needed to vent a little as this 1803 has caused me so many issues. And no, sadly I can't just rollback the update because good ol' Micro$oft managed to corrupt the restore point, so I'm stuck with it. Back on topic - I've searched around but I can only find the Media Creation Tool on the MS site which if I remember correctly downloads all the latest updates, or some rando site that definitely isn't going to give me lots of free malware and viruses. Anyone know if it's possible??

I wonder what operating system does linus use for his studio server, and what protocol he uses to share disks. I know he uses ZFS filesystem and CentOS on one of his racks, but I see Windows UI on monitor (the one in server room) Also I tried ftp to setup network disk, but there was security, permission issues and.. I just couldn't use it as "drive." I can't save or open documents right away niether saving directly. What kind of protocol can perform what i want? Smb? (I don't think it's smb though.. I saw linus directly accessing files at home with smartphone. I believe smb is for local sharing...) Sorry if this topic is already answered. Btw this is my first post at this forum. Hello!

Hello to everyone In October start my second year of College so I thought it would be good to organize my computer. I've got Windows 10 preinstalled on my PC and I would like to install Windows 7 (and access it through dual boot). Windows 10 is for College and 7 is for everything else. Now I've been able to install Windows 7 and I been able to configure it and it works normal. But I have a question about license key. Can I use my Windows 10 license key or I need to have Windows 7 license key. Sorry If this sound n00b but really I don't know how dual boot works. If someone can share some light on this topic I would greatly appreciate it Thanks Have a nice day.

Windows 10 decided to update when I turned on my PC. For some reason it said it failed to update and will undo changes. After it restarted I get the black screen with the windows logo and a loading wheel of dots. But after that it's just a black screen. I can move the mouse and the cursor is the blue loading wheel. I can't get into my PC. Help. Edit: I booted in recovery mode/repsir mode or whatever. Used start up repair and got this message. (Image 2)

Howdy folks, I really want to play with ChromeOS, but I really do not want to purchase a chromebook, box, or bit (ok I kind of want the chromebit but that's not the point). I would like to be able to boot it from an extra hard drive in my computer or on an external drive on my laptop. I just can't seem to find anyway to get a copy of it. I know about the Cloudready version, but what I want is a full (real) version of ChromeOS that I can keep updated and do all the fancy android app functions it will have. Does anyone really have any ideas how I could do this? I don't really want to spend a ton of money, hence why I don't want to buy a chrome device. Also I am a computer science student, so I'm definitely not afraid to do some high level stuff. I'm totally prepared to get my hands dirty. Thanks guys! P.S. first every post, hope I followed all the rules

Hi Folks, I have a new college laptop and it continually tries and fails to update to the latest windows 10 update. The thing is there's hardly anything installed on it. The only things I installed to it was Microsoft Office, VLC, Winrar, f.lux and Ccleaner. The update says it requires 8gb to update it. The laptop has a 30gb hdd and it's only got about 500mbs of free space with only the few programs I added. The constant notification about the update is driving me mad. 1) How can I update or 2) Stop the constant notification telling me I can't update due to storage space requirements?

If you have seen my other post I am thinking of Building a server but, I am unsure of what operating system to use. I would use the server to run mainly a plex media server and then a place to back up all the pc in my house (if you know any software that does this please let me know thanks) the problem is that Im still a student and so broke and windows server is extremely expensive. I was wondering how does Ubuntu work with plex is it just as good as windows 10? Also I was wondering is there any os that could run VM machine and plex even maybe plex in a VM machine?

What Happened This afternoon my laptop froze randomly, waited for a minute, didn't respond so I'm like stuff it, pressed power button for 7 seconds to turn it off. Turned it back on, won't turn on anymore, It was stuck in a reboot loop with the generic windows message "Your pc ran into a problem and needs restarting....." So I'm like my bad luck, I'll clean install windows again, so I plug in my bootable USB with windows installation, won't boot, stuck on black screen. That's weird, this usb is 3 years old so I'm like maybe just stopped working. Went to make a new bootable drive but Microsoft's website needs the product key for that. I got another bootable USB to restore product keys from systems that can't boot from Lazesoft, tried booting from this USB, doesn't work. screen stays black. however the same USB works on my desktop PC What I've Tried - Tried a lot to enter/trigger advanced startup options through various methods - Thought of running safemode through bootable USB's windows installation but didn't boot - last option to clean reinstall windows but again the installation USB didn't boot - tried booting another USB with another software, didn't boot, screen stays blank/black Specs: CPU: Intel i7 7700hq GPU: nVidia 960m M.2: 250gb HDD: 1TB Ram: 8GB OS: Windows 8.1 Pro also has a optical drive if it helps anyone PS: had a windows update early morning, besides that it was normal everyday university work and general PC use.

Hello , so i ordered all my parts so while those are on their way i'm trying to get everything ready but im a bit confused as to weather or not i have to buy windows 10 or a key. I was told on another post that i don't need to buy windows 10. going directly to Microsoft it says it costs $120 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/d/windows-10-home/d76qx4bznwk4/1NT3?ocid=AID695938_SEM_VxmSJQAAAWAVhmnf%3a20180502163129%3as but i also found this link which allows me to downalod a windows 10 disk image https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO but would i still need a key with that? Sorry if this is a redundant question , its my first pc build and i appreciate all the help iv been getting on these forms. Can anyone can help clarify as to what i should do?

So I was spec'ing out Workstations for my company and its the need of building an editor/animator rig that needs to run Unity3D editor, After Effects, 3Ds Max. Unfortunately corporate has us forced to go through only Dell. This led me to build a workstation with a Xeon CPU and a Quadro card, however now dell has two versions of windows 10 pro, both are what's called "Windows 10 Pro for Workstations" however one only supports 4 cores and you need to spend an additional $105 to support more than 4 cores. Now I find this weird and feel like its a way for Dell to charge even more (No way to get an i9 or Thread Ripper outside of an Alienware machine). Does anyone know anything about this special version of Windows 10 Pro Workstation that one only supports 4 cores and one supports more?

Would it be possible to load the three big Operating systems (i.e. Windows 10, Mac OS, and Linux) onto a single system by putting each operating system on its own M.2 Drive? This is more of a question of is it possible and how rather than a question about whether or not its a 'good idea' as that typically involves the consideration of price.

Currently looking for the best way to obtain a copy of Windows for a PC I'm building. I'm located in Ireland, but the Irish Microsoft store is out of USB drives directly from the store and the person I'm building doesn't want to chance it with a downloaded file. UK store has drives, but I've concerns about region locking. Any advice?

Hello, Firstly may I say that I am an extremely happy Windows 7 user and after the travesty of interface design that is called Windows 10, I will never be 'upgrading'. Now that's out of the way I would like to get to my question, considering that newer generations of CPUs do not support Windows 7, I would like to know the 'ultimate' Windows 7 machine build. Criteria- CPU must be supported and must work without any community made/ 3rd party patches. It has to be a no-compromises machine i.e. DDR4, overclocked, pro mobo etc etc... I ask this in light of pursuit to build the best possible, fully supported Windows 7 rig, a new passion of my having had the misfortune the other day, of using Windows 10. Help a brother out. Louis

Hello. New to the forum here, and I'm looking to do a system upgrade in the near future and wanted to clear some things up. My concerns mostly revolve around Storage and a CPU/MOBO upgrade. My current system has a 500GB SSD and a 2TB hard drive, Windows 7 on an X79 platform. I am looking to add a 1TB SSD to the mix, and probably upgrade to Ryzen 2. From what I understand, Ryzen only works with Windows 10, so I'm assuming I'll need to upgrade to that. Will I be good just installing Windows 10 on the new SSD I'm getting, adding my current drives to the system and having access to all the data on the current drives? Will there be issues using the drives that were used in a Windows 7 environment in my new system if I go that route? Thanks much

Would running two solid state drives in RAID0 improve OS performance? Or, is there just too much risk with that, and running them in RAID1 be better for its redundancy?

Linus if your reading this, I want to give you a challenge... The challenge is to create an operating system called "Tech Tips OS" optimized for high performance gaming In is a series of 4 episodes on YouTube. (updating between episodes allowed) You don't have to do that challenge, but at least reply to this discussion and tell me if you'll do it or not. All the best!

Hey. While updating I think I might have accidentally turned off my mid 2012 i7 MacBook Pro. A folder sign appears and there is a question mark on it. I google it to try and find a solution, and found that I have to go into recovery mode and select the boot drive. I did that and rebooted. Next thing I see is another folder with a question mark. I found more solutions online but all they said was to replace the hard drive data cable and this clearly isn't the case because I can see the hard drive in disk utilities. I did some more research and found that I can reinstall OS X from the recovery without losing data. Everything was fine until I got to the step where it asks me where to install the new operating system. I selected the only drive I had, the "Macintosh HD" hard drive and it said "You can't upgrade this version of OS X because a newer version is installed." What does this mean and how can I fix it without an external drive, without another Mac, and most importantly, without erasing any of my data. I'm pretty stressed out and don't know what to do. I also have some stuff that might be useful like a 16GB flash drive. I thought maybe I can install OS X on there and boot into it. Then I would transfer my files to another PC. Then I will format the mac's hard drive and install OS X to there again. And lastly, I will bring my files back from my PC to the Mac. Oh and sorry for the duplicate post, It's just that I need to fix this ASAP because this is my dad's computer and I've messed it up. Thanks.

So I have every component to my build other than my SSD. I won’t be able to get one for a couple of weeks and I just wanna get my rig up and running. If I put windows on my HHD would it be easy to switch it to my SSD once I get it. If it is complicated and not worth the hassle that’s fine too.
