OK so I deceided I could have a much better server from this old PC (free) vs buying a NAS for $1000 (maybe) Heres my hardware: Gigabyte G1.Sniper B6 https://www.gigabyte.com/id/Motherboard/G1Sniper-B6-rev-10/sp#sp 6GB RAM DDR3 (standard non ECC) i7 4790 (4 core) with Intel HD graphics 4600 GeForce GT 730 I plan to run Unraid Server objectives: small business media storage for video / photo editing purposes and all PC back up Do I have any incompatibility for unraid? I cant find the mobo on the unraid compatibility list: https://wiki.unraid.net/Hardware_Compatibility#Motherboard Mobo details: 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16) * For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot. (The PCIEX16 slot conforms to PCI Express 3.0 standard.) 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4) * The M.2 socket shares bandwidth with the PCIEX4 slot. When the M.2 socket is populated, the PCIEX4 slot will operate at up to x2 mode. 2 x PCI Express x1 slots (The PCIEX4 and PCI Express x1 slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.) 2 x PCI slots 4 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors 2 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors 1 x M.2 Socket 3 connector * Support for M.2 PCIe SSDs only. * The M.2 socket shares bandwidth with the PCIEX4 slot. When the M.2 socket is populated, the PCIEX4 slot will operate at up to x2 mode. With the aboveconnections available what is the best way to set up the HDD's on this system. Ideally I'd like to run with 4x 8TB HDD's Can I toss the GPU away and run the HDD's via the main PCIEX16? Or do I just utilise the 4 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors? Any thoughts on this old ass GPU? Keep it / Replace it? Onboard graphic is enough? Is the board with DDR3 going to be too slow? This is my first server build / use, so I'm a total noob with server operations so any and old advice is much appreciated

Budget (including currency): as little as possible, but I'd go up to 500€ each Country: Germany Games, it will be used for: low-level gaming, like minecraft, and web browsing Here is the idea: I have two DEEPCOOL Genome II WH-BL Cases from my bro, who jsut upgraded to a better PC. I also have a nephew who is about to become old enough for his own PC and a friend who could use a new PC. The parts I have laying around are from my old PC and my brother's old PC. What I will buy is obviously one 1TB SSD for each PC and another power supply. Now the question: What parts would you guys suggest to get and how would you arrange the following parts to get two decently performing PCs?

Hello everyone! Some days ago I recieved a PC from a colleague and he said that it suddently stopped working and he asked me to try to fix it. The PC turns on, but there is no output display , although the display works fine. The fan spins very fast but then slows down. First I thought it was the RAM, but if it were the RAM the motherboard would have beeped, right? (And I tried turning it on with no RAM and still no beeps or lights) So I thought it was the PSU, so I tested it in another computer and it booted normally, so the PSU isn't the problem. Therefore it could only be the mobo or the CPU. I changed the CMOS battery (and cleared the CMOS and the RTC RAM), still nothing. I removed everyting from the case and just connected the CPU, the fan, the PSU and the RAM and still nothing. I tried to look out for a bent CPU pin, a burnt capacitor or something like that, and once more nothing. He says that he can buy a new motherboard or CPU but he doesn't have the budget for both (and I wouldn't like to tell him to buy something that is already working). Any suggestions of what could be the issue? Here are the PC specs (also this is a prebuild PC): Processor: Intel Core i3-4170 3.7 GHz Dual-Core Processor RAM: Kingston 4 GB DDR3 (1x4GB) ROM: SSD Crucial MX500 1TB (he bought recently) Graphics: Graphics HD Intel® 4400, 2GB Motherboard: ASUS H81M-P Power Supply: Gold (300 W)

Hi. I have a old PC that does have Windows 10 on it. But his Hardware doesn't support Windows 10. For Example the Monitor won't do the right Resolution because GPU drivers doesn't support Windows 10. So i decided to install Windows 7. Because his Hardware supports Win7. I tried so much things to install W7. But it didn't worked. So my question is: Can i install Windows 7 With a bootable USB created with USB Tool by Microsoft after i use the "Remove files and clean the drive" option on Windows 10. And will it install Windows 10 again after i do it? I dont want to use the other setting (Just remove my files) because i tried it already and he installed Windows 10 again. Please dont say another option like just boot from usb because it doesnt work because of non-installed drivers.

Hi everyone, I have my Desktop PC since 2011, an Acer Predator G3600 my parents bought me, the specs right now are: -Intel® Core™ i7-2600 quad-core 3.4Ghz -Nvidia GTX 1050 TI 4GB -500W Power Supply -512 SSD + 2TB HDD -6GB DDR3 RAM (3x2GB) Everything except the SSD,HDD and GPU are the stock ones. This machine had been giving me some problems for the last year, but nothing that was a "game breaker", sometimes it was slow and sometimes windows was throwing errors with the updater(I was running Windows 7), but the HDD inside had eight years so I figured it was that... About 6 months ago I bought the 512 ssd(is a Crucial MX500) to replace my old OS HDD, after switching the ssd as boot drive my pc didn't turn off anymore. Windows would turn off correctly but the motherboard would stay powered(no disk activity). It was a fresh install of Win7 so I thought maybe it was a driver or something, so I cloned my old drive on the SSD but it didn't change anything. I tried to update to Win10 but it kept failing so I got a windows 10 license, from another pc that I converted in a linux machine, and installed that(fresh install) but the system still didn't shut down completely. I had 2 computer businesses "check" it and neither could find why the pc didn't shut down properly. If windows is on a HDD it turns off correctly even with the SSD plugged in as a secondary drive, but if windows is on the SSD it won't turn off. In the end I gave up and after windows would turn off I just used the power button to shut it down completely. at least it was running much better than with the old HDD. Last week I powered it on and after a while(10-15min of Minecraft) it completely froze: no mouse or keyboard response, screen perfectly still and even trying caplocks or numpad didn't turn on or off the light on the keyboard. Shut it down by pressing power button and rebooted I played Minecraft for 1-1.5 hours without any problem. but since then at random it freezes completely, sometimes I'm playing but it also happened with nothing running and just being on desktop, sometimes after 1 hour sometime right after boot. No event in the windows log except that it rebooted after a "incorrect" power off. Did a memory test(no problem found), a clean Win10 install, and a complete avast and AVG scan but it still does it. Any idea what might be the cause and how to solve? PS: Italian here, hope my English isn't too confusing... Honestly I thought of getting a new desktop and retire this one since it's 9years old, but a new desktop with -Intel® Core™ i7-8700x six-core 3.2Ghz -Nvidia GTX 1050 TI 4GB -500W Power Supply -1TB HDD -8GB DDR4 RAM https://www.amazon.it/HP-Pavilion-595-p0002nl-Desktop-Naturale/dp/B07DG4BNLT/ which I think isn't really that much better than mine is around 1200$ here... and I didn't want to spend more than a month a half of salary for a new PC that isn't even a real upgrade...

So I recently was given an old pc that actually runs decently. But in my opinion the 10 or so frames per second are not working for me. I recently swiched its old graphics card out with a 4gb rtx 550. The specs for the pc are as follows: CPU 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 920 Motherboard chipset Intel X58 Memory 6GB 1,066MHz DDR3 SDRAM Graphics AMD Radeon RX 550 4GB GDDR5-128-bit Hard drive 1T 7,200rpm Optical drive Blu-ray drive Networking Gigibit Ethernet Operating system Windows 10 Home (64-bit) If you can find the bottleneck in the system that would be amazing. (The reason the parts are so bad is because they were given to me from my neighbors.)

I get a lot of errors and even more BSODs for about 2 months now. It's an old PC, I'll list it below. My problem is this: IT CRASHES EVERY DAY MULTIPLE TIMES. It is getting unusable at this rate, my family and I have both sensitive data in there and many good reasons to use it daily. I've tried taking almost everything (except for the motherboard) apart and piecing it all back together, manually checking for any driver that needs updating, run Windows Defender and a lot of tests and repairs (like Memtest 64, C: drive repairs, etc) several times, tweaked the startup/boot settings anjd even taken it to a PC technician who somehow damaged my motherboard, killed my sound and practically stole 100$ from me for a couple of new memory sticks. I need help bcause I can't find anyone reliable around my parts to help with diagnosing my PC. The specs for it are the following: ASRock Extreme4 motherboard, AMD FX-4100m CPU, Asus Radeon HD6450 GPU, 2x Kingston HyperX Blu 1333MHz Dual Channel kit + 2x Kingston 1333MHz Dual Channel kit RAM, Mtech 450W PSU (I know...). Thank you if you read this and please help, I'm getting desperate.

I posted this problem of mine a while back, but nobody answered (I'm forever alone) regarding a CPU upgrade. 1- I'm considering a Core 2 Quad, as dual cores have no place in this world now (except if they have hyperthreading) 2- to be Exact, I'm interested in a Core 2 Quad Q6600 and Q9400, as the Q9650 (12M L2, 3.0GHz, quad core) is I think overpriced. 3- Now my problem is that the C2Q Q6600 isn't listed as compatible in the HP technical guide (I have the stock HP motherboard; HP 3032h , but uses the same socket (LGA 775) as the C2D. (The E8400 I have rn). Technical guide lists other C2Q's like: Q8200, Q9400, Q9550 and Q9650. Will the Q6600 work? 4- If I decide to buy Q9400, which one is better? Q6600 or Q9400? I can't seem to figure out Thanks.

Hi, I am in need of some help with a build I am planning. I want to build a fairly powerful gaming/work PC (I do not mind if it's second hand I just want it to work and maybe even look good) I do not have the money quite yet (around $180 NZD). So I am planning to sell old computers which I got from my School for free (long Story): - Lenovo Thinkcentre M57 Intel® Pentium® Dual Core 1.8Ghz Processor 2 GB RAM No hard drive CD RW/DVD ROM 32 bit Intel® Pentium® Dual Core 1.8Ghz Processor 4 GB RAM No hard drive CD RW/DVD ROM 32 bit - 100% working HP mini 5102 with a sticker on. Intel Atom N450 / 1.66 GHz 2GB DDR2 RAM 10.1" anti-glare LED screen Intel HD graphics 2 megapixel integrated webcam 180GB HDD Bluetooth 2.1 Broadcom 4322AGN, Intel WiFi Link 1000 Gigabit Ethernet SD card reader VGA Microphone input Headphone output LAN 3 x USB 2.0 Windows 7 pro I am Tring to decide what to do with them: 1. Salvage them for parts for my PC and sell the rest. 2. Sell them all together ( 2 Lenovo PC and the hp mini in one listing) 3. Sell Individual parts 4. Upgrade them 5. Sell them in individual listings Also Could you please Tell be whether you think it is safe/worth it to buy a fully built second-hand PC without inspection? Can You please Help And shed Some Light On this situation.

Greetings, My grandfather recently gave me his old HP computer after he bought a new one (from Best Buy, eek! Don't blame him). My goal is to upgrade it enough so that it can play light titles, such as Minecraft, TF2, Source games, maybe even a few next-tier (regarding horsepower required) games to run. What do I need to upgrade first, if anything, to be able to run at least Minecraft? Below are the PC specs and current gaming observations. Specs: CPU: Intel Pentium E5200 @2.5GHz GPU*: Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 5450 RAM: 6GB across 4 DDR2 DIMMs: 2x Samsung 2GB @ 400 MHz; 2x Hyundai 1GB @ 400MHz Motherboard: Pegatron Benicia 1.01 (Should be using G33 chipset although I'm not sure) HDD: Seagate 750GB OS: Originally Windows Vista, but now runs 10 Home *I provided the GPU; originally it was running off of integrated graphics Here is a link to HP's website regarding the motherboard included and upgradability: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01324212 Gaming: I only tried Minecraft and Half-Life Deathmatch Source. Both run fine with the dedicated GPU (they crashed without it). However, Minecraft cannot run stable framerates. It runs around 60fps just fine, but stutters a lot. It is less noticeable on the other title. Conclusion: This PC is intended for the use by younger person who can get by with old parts to play a few lightweight titles like Minecraft, and of course have it for other use. What should I upgrade first to eliminate this stuttering? What can I do to make this thing sellable? Thanks for your help! *I don't want to upgrade the entire thing, and I'd like to keep the motherboard

We upgraded an old pc by putting in a gtx 1050. When we started the pc, it makes a couple of beeping sounds and doesn't react when we push "esc" or any other button. Every time we click on a button, it makes a ticking noice.
