Please have mercy one me! I already posted this in troubleshooting a couple of days ago, and received almost no responses, probably because I commented on my post to add more information later. I am reposting it here now so hopefully I can get this worked out, as my problem is a motherboard issue. I recently bought This motherboard, two of these processors, a gtx 550 ti, 4 sticks of 4gb ddr2 fb-dimm 667mhz memory, and the stock Dell 1000w PSU for the Precision T7400 (I will add an ssd later.) I am going to use this frankenstein Dell as a minecraft server with some friends, and therefore don't need things such as a power button. For cooling I am using two lga 775 stock intel cpu coolers, modified and ziptied onto the mobo, then attached to the dell fan headers with adapters. However, whenever I jump the power switch pin on the motherboard (with the ground pin diagonally down from it) I hear a click from the PSU, then fans in the power supply, cpu coolers, and gpu all spin for approximately 5 seconds without posting. I then hear a second click from the power supply (I'm pretty sure this is just the power supply switching and off on bc it doesn't have an external switch on it.) I have done some research on this, and found this great write-up on reddit about the front panel connectors on dell btx boards, including the T7400. It is really helpful, but it only really focuses on switching cases between dell btx boards. It seems to me like I might have to buy the front panel and front panel cable to get this board to boot. I am willing to do this if I have to, but I would much prefer that I could figure out some other solution that didn't cost an extra $22. So my friend has gone through a lot of computers over the years and his current machine isn't even good enough to run csgo. To fix this we started to create the Frankenstein computer which is a mix of all his old computers to create a new working one that can run games without spending anymore money. About an hour into our work we were able to get a machine to post, but now it's stuck in a constant bios loop and doesn't show any signs of the hard drive being plugged in even though it is brand new with a working sata(I tried all the sata connections already). It also won't let us flash the bios with the latest version. Nor I or my friend could find a solution to our problem. if anyone has any suggestions I am all ears. solutions I have tried -resetting the bios to factory settings -reseating the ram/removing each stick and try different combos -booting into a usb drive -different hard drives -talking dirty to the components i forgot to clear the cmos and the cpu did not have a proper cooler but it never exceeded 75c. mobo: i forgot, but is an asus prebuilt mobo from 2013-2014 cpu: amd a6 6400k gpu: gtx 760 ram: some 4gb stick of ddr3 1600mhz thanks for your help.

Hi, so my main rig is nothing special (i5 3470, GTX 780, 16GB DDR3) but I need a second PC to have at my grandparent's house, and, to cut a long story short, I really want to use a cheap 771 Xeon, because honestly they provide the best value for money, and because of that glitch on Wish where you could get a 550ti for free (basically) I don't know what Xeon to get, or how much DDR2 I'll need for it not to bottleneck the rest of the system, and for reference, I have a few decent 775 boards and some 771-775 adapters, also can you O/C 771 Xeons on 775 boards? And finally, I have a 500w psu, will that be enough? Thanks, David
-
Hi so I looked on delidded's website, and I couldn't find the Intel D975XBX2 listed anywhere, but because it's a good O/C board I want to put a LGA 771 Xeon on it, the fairly low power E5450. The chipset that board uses seems to work ok with Xeons on 771, and the power out/ bios supports it, so I'd like to see if it supports the X5450. Thanks!

OK, I saw the video that showed Linus updating a old phone so I have a nice in perfect condition Samsung Note 3 which I put away. I found some nice deals on new battery for it but was stuck on what software to add to it? I found that you can add android pie to it but is that good? what would be a good software to use on it so that it's safe? I don't remember the software OS Linus used in the video and I can't find that video so was hoping someone would see this and help me bring life back to my old phone I really liked it.

Hi, I wanted to upgrade my old PC. Since this is my first time upgrading any PC, wanted to make sure if it is even worth it. My PC current specs are: OS: windows XP SP 1 RAM: 1GB DDR2 CPU: intel(R) CELERON (R) D 2.80GHz motherboard ASUS P5GZ-MX revision 1.00 CPU socket type socket 775. It is for my dad. He normally uses computer for simple browsing and word processing. I'm thinking of upgrading it to core 2 duo with 2GB RAM. Can I upgrade it further without upgrading motherboard. Is purchasing external graphics card (if it supports any) worth it? I also need suggestion for any Linux distro that will run well on this upgraded config while still being easy for someone who is switching from windows.

Hey, I just found a local seller offering a bunch of components for 90$ (after conversion). Im interested if I could flip this PC and for how much. Components offered: AMD Phenom X4 955 GA-890XA-UD3 16GB 1333Mhz 6 heatpipe 140mm Cooler Zalman Z11 Plus w/ 3 fans I think with a Gtx 960, some SSD, HDD and a 450w psu it could work quite nicely. Thanks!

Main point: What would make for a good cpu/mobo pairing for a gtx780? quality, but not looking for frills the situation: I built myself my first system with a 4670k and gtx780 back around when the 780ti launched. Later I upgraded to a gtx1080 during the gtx20xx launch price drops. Since I still have my 780 I was thinking of using it in a build for my mom and little brother. My mom's old PC is a relic and is crashing nonstop, I'd rather throw something more modern together than mess with it she would just use the new PC for web browsing, my brother for homework and gaming(maybe, hard to gauge his interest). secondary talking points: should I even bother? would it be better to just do a basic web browsing machine with an apu? and forget about it being a gaming machine (poor 780 sits in the box forever) should I just put the 780 back in my current system, give that to them, and build a newer PC around my 1080?

Hello!, i'm looking for opinions/suggestions on what could be the best CPU for this motherboard: Asus M4A78 (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A78/). Currently i'm running it with an AMD Phenom II x3 710 (2.6 Hz); i'll attach a capture of it with Cpu-z. Any help would be appreciated since i don't know really how to discriminate the information i've found on Google. I've read that some people recommend not going for a high TDP cpu, that the 95w mark is the good spot to avoid problems with motherboards of this age (Mine is up to 125W from what i've read in the Asus Site), so i'm all over the place about this.

Hello everyone, I'm Tom from Poland, and i am going to tell you the story of my "new" rig. Sorry for spelling mistakes. (If you can, please correct me) I wanted to play some simple games, but my laptop (AMD based HP 255 G2) is on its last legs, and it can't play YT without crashing. The sollution was simple. Buy some old stuff and MAKE IT GREAT AGAIN! I found a guy who was selling an old HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor (2 core AMD Athlon). No RAM, no HDD, just the MB, CPU, PSU, case and ODD. He gave me a 512MB 667 MHz Apacer RAM stick and said if I want the computer it's mine for 40PLN that is about 10 USD (i will use USD from now). https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VrNDeyDGg-jBWlwmt4l808BJds9Kh1Nx/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KidMsDhLyWU0KtcTrg7cvTyMMsN9NGUZ/view?usp=sharing I bougt a monitor with it - a 17inch HP1702 (1280x1024) for 5 USD. After i brought it home it was cleaned so it would be ready for some upgrades. Starting specs: AMD Athlon 4450B @ 2,3GHz Dual Core 512MB 667MHz Apacer RAM No HDD No GPU (Could run on the onboard one) - It was nice (up to 256 MB) AT-2701FX - 100Mbs fiber networking - DELL? IDK https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f0Kg_LumvGXdGstovqs63aDsaq1k1zSn/view?usp=sharing First problem I don't have any 3,5 inch HDDs but i have some 2,5. By some i mean 4. 1. 80GB Something in perfect condition - Boot in my free Pentium 4 machine 2. 500GB HGST from my laptop - replaced with a Sandisk SSD Plus 120GB 3. Identical 500GB HGST from my mobile drive - sweet coincidance 4. 680 GB Toshiba from my clients notebook - On its last legs - My mobile boot drive, and pendrive. Because dc5850 has a RAID controler I have made my first RAID0 Array with the two HGST Drives for fun and the POWEEEER... or just for fun https://drive.google.com/file/d/19Z0JvEqorjot2lwQv4c5z5fN1GgaGURP/view?usp=sharing Seccond problem: Because i'm some kind of a hamster i have everything DDR1, DDR2, DDR3. Found this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wewGSELQiGICCHyxn1awqsPUNiswvFg8/view?usp=sharing 1GB 800MHz stick. It's a waste of speed but 1,5GB is better than 0,5GB(?) My mashine was almost ready. I knew that i can browse the web and watch movies on it, but i wanted more. I wanted to play Euro truck Simulator 2, South Park, and some other games on it. i needed a GPU. A guy was selling a Asus EAH4570 (512MB) for 8USD. So i bouth it and because is was old and the OEM fan was shot i ziptied an slightly newer one i got from a friend with some other pieces. Some case-cutting, and disassebly later the card was in! (I had to cut the frame of the case so VGA was usable) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cwEL6gnJ6g3-l3qcWfhH0JXfTzEM-Gj-/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xnY3OOTUU-B0k3Pp0rPYIVoqREryLPYF/view?usp=sharing Upgrade complete! no... no... One more thing. Later i thought i will need more RAM baseuse i told my fiance that i will make our wedding invitations. One week later BINGO! A company was selling a mix of DDR2 sticks for 1,5 USD/stick/1GB. I needed 3 GB so with the discount i paid less than 4USD for 3 sticks of kingstone 1GB 800MHz RAM. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1s41Nl2Zt8yOZjbcKeyD9E2CKqGIZVPxL/view?usp=sharing But how can you make graphics on a square 17 inch display? I'm not stupid. So i bought another screen. This time it's a Samsung 193P 19inch Dual Hinge Pivot Monster! for 8 USD. But the DVI cable was too expensive for my taste - 2,5USD https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_NQhGBI6pTpiV5tSnZmLpX3NWvTbS_q9/view?usp=sharing And finally, last week I bough a Kingstone SA400 240GB SSD for 15USD brand new at work https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SAwq5caG7IqLfzegLRHzq_CNm3Oas0Mb/view?usp=sharing Let's calculate: Case, MB, CPU: 10USD Monitor 1: 5USD Monitor 2: 8USD DVI Cable: 1,5USD Ram Upgrade: 4USD GPU: 8USD SSD: 15 USD ---------------- TOTAL: 51,5USD. The saddest thing is that i paid 14USD for a new keyboard and mouse Full album: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14Twqiu1JL09xmgF9nJ1IspuJqZ3CXZvz?usp=sharing Hope you like it!

Hi guys. So, I have a dedicated server for "The Forest" set up on my main PC, and I don't really want to leave it running 24/7 (especially when im not home as it's watercooled, if it leaks when i'm not here, i'd be furious) Sod's law and all.... My question is, Is there anyway i can transfer the server and all the saves from the individual players to a new machine? I have some old Dell office PC's laying around that I could probably convert into a server. Would it still need to be the same OS? (WIN 10) Or could i run something like linux? As It was getting to a point where I was just playing with people, but now they may want access to it while i'm unavailable, so keeping it live constantly would be ideal. Also, does the PC need to be "decent" I mean, it's a Dell office pc, ddr2 integrated GPU, ram capacity can be upgraded. Hdd, Core 2duo I believe in one of them. New to this server malarkey so if anything is a noobish basic question please forgive me. Thanks

Does anyone has any idea of how this processors perform or even look like? I'm just curious tbh I've watched a few videos online (5 or 6 at best), but wasn't able to find more data.

So I've been trying to figure out how to get the most out of OBS with the current specs of my PC, I only record for Youtube and I have no need to stream any time soon, I mainly record console gameplay through a capture card or things like minecraft which arent the most intensive games. My specs are: Phenom II X6 1090T Radeon HD 5750 16GB DDR3 (supposedly at 669.6MHz) At the moment I'm running x264 at veryfast with CBR 2500Kbps, and tbh I have no idea what that means
-
Hello, I was wondering what a good upgrade from a core 2 duo E8400 and 4gb of ddr2 ram is for streaming. I can stream with it right now but I want better quality for a small budget. Any suggestions?

I am installing windows 10 onto a old desktop that I had lying around, but it won't install. I put my USB install drive in, change the boot order to be the USB drive first, and then when I go to start up, I got a black screen with a line that makes me thing of direct coding. As in, there is the underscore line for typing, but I can't type anything. Please help. I want to give this desktop to my friend, who doesn't have a computer at all. Thanks if you can help By the way, it is using a 64 bit CPU, so that should not be a problem.

I have an old tower pc that was bought prebuilt in 2008. I used it for 5 years until its graphics card broke and I got a new computer. It has 2 500GB HDDs that were each connected directly to the motherboard by SATA connections. As far as I can tell, there is no RAID card in the machine. I am ignorant of whether or not the motherboard could have RAID capabilities of its own. I do not remember seeing two separate volumes on the old machine, but I also wouldn't have known enough at the time to look for a second 500GB HDD. Finally, I also do not remember the total capacity I had on the machine. I removed the 2 500GB HDDs from an old tower computer of mine and connected them to my new pc. These drives show up as "unallocated" in disk management. How can I know for sure if these drives were in a RAID array previously, and how would this impact my current ability to read them?

Hi, I didn't know where to post this question 'cause there is no specific section for this, so if this is the wrong one, move it please. I live in Chile and prices are around 40% higher compared to Amazon US. I was planning on building a Ryzen system, but the price is ridiculous (R5 1600 + 4GB DDR4 2400 MHz + B350 MoBo + Rx 580 8GB for $820). It's just too much, and it's not even the entire tower, plus it has only 4 GB of ram and it's 2400mhz, not 3000mhz. So... the best option for me atm is to buy used parts, but still they're too expensive or not in stock, so I need another option, which I think it's to just build an older PC capable of doing what i want. I don't really care about an upgrade path since I've never upgraded a PC, I always buy all the parts again (getting a new PC part is rare to me 'cause of the $$$$). What I want: - Play PUBG 1080p in low-mid if possible with max viewdistance (kind of a competitive environment, not a flashy pretty one) - Play Overwatch and CSGO in mid-high which I think is very possible if I can play PUBG What I need: - To code in IntelliJ and test my programs using NodeJS and Tomcat servers (running React, Jenkins, SonarQube, Spring in the background) - To emulate android with 3-4 instances of BlueStacks What would be nice: - To stream Overwatch and CSGO (I don't mind playing CSGO in lower res or details) - To use Linux in a VM relatively smoothly, to code there while still in Windows My current PC is this: i5 3470 (I think it's not 100% in good state, 'cause it crashes when I do intensive work in MathLab, it even crashes sometimes while playing Smite. I think it's one of the cores... when I run them at full load, the system freezes completely and needs to be restarted) 8GB RAM @ 1333mhz Radeon HD 7770 1 GHz Asus P8P67-M PRO MoBo Sentey 600w PSU (I think it's BRP 600) (This could also be the problem, not the CPU) Sentey Case with 2 side fans, PSU on the bottom, dust filter on the bottom, grid on top... I could use this case. I don't think I can use any of the parts I have besides the case. Maybe the RAM if the new build is old enough. Thanks. ---------- Btw, 1 USD = 660 CLP I use this website to view parts: https://www.solotodo.com/ So you can have an idea of the prices.

1. Budget & Location $200-$350 USD/USA 2. Aim I would like to identify what the most cost effective upgrade path would be to enjoy current gen titles. I mostly play classic titles on my PC. I love to tickle my nostalgia bone with CS: Source, Star Craft 2 & Battlefield 3. But I would love to play newer titles such as Fortnite and Pub G etc. I also work from home, and do some light media editing on my home rig, as well as audio recording via Pro Tools (I have external DSP hardware). 3. Monitors My current setup is two monitors, one throw away dell, and a new(er) 32" LG, 5ms gtg, 1080 60hz hdmi. 4. Peripherals I think I am all set on peripherals. My mouse is okay, and my keyboard could use replacing. 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm upgrading because, I would like to run my old games on ultra, most of these were release over 8 years ago.. and I would like to enter into the modern era of PC gaming (even if it's medium settings at high FPS). Hello, I am having an issue trying to get the 2 CPUs in my computer to run at the same time. Both of the sockets work and both CPUs work. They will run individually in either socket and I can boot into windows with no issues. Whenever I set the jumpers to run both CPUs at once, my motherboard only posts a FF code. Everything is plugged in. It will not post beyond that point. EVGA did not respond when I messaged for help. Anyone got any clues? Specs: EVGA Classified SR-2, x2 Xeon X5690, GTX 1080ti, x4 Kingston Hyper-X 8GB DDR3 1333MHz, 1050W Gamemax PSU. Here's what I have done so far: - I have tried switching between all 3 BIOS'. I have tried 3 different BIOS versions too (A54, A56, & A58). They are the only versions available on EVGA's website. - I have tried clearing the CMOS. - I have tried running without the CMOS battery at all. - I have tried moving all of the jumpers on my motherboard in different combinations. - I have tried looking through the BIOS and manual. Everything looks fine. - I have tried running with just one stick of RAM per CPU in different slots. - I have checked my CPU stepping versions and they are both the same and compatible with the motherboard (I bought them as a pair and they had previously been running together). - I have tried all the solutions that EVGA suggested for the FF postcode. - I have tried turning it off and on again. - I have tried swearing at it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi, I have a Dell dimension 2350 that I recently cleaned up and I thought I might try and make it usable again. It has: 256mb of RAM in 1 slot out of 2 40gb of storage 845gl chipset board pci wifi card in slot 2 of 3 200-250w psu I have made an amazon list of parts that I was hoping to use to upgrade it but I don't know if they'll work and which graphics card to get: Amazon List P.S. I am getting a new gaming computer soon anyway, this is just a small side project that I need help with.

Why I'm looking at building a new rig and wanted to upgrade my home server. My existing home server was mostly experimenting with different environments and setups and trying to debug problems with my business servers. Recently though I had to convert it into full time business as well leaving me without any real home server. Thankfully my existing rig had enough storage to hold everything. What I have to work with fx 8350 asus sabertooth 990fx r2 mobo 32gb ddr3 an overkill gpu for a server I'll probably replace with something cheap 12x 4tb drives (some are just extras from my last bulk order, I keep on hand in case of drive failure, etc) 3x 256gb ssd's lsi 9211-8i megaraid sas 2008 falcon, currently flashed to "IT" firmware I believe 2 evga pcoip thin clients a very capable case about $300 What I'm aiming for I'm thinking of an unraid solution, running a plex server with 4 of the threads, an actual file server / network drive for what plex doesn't cover with 1 or 2 threads, and then a thread each for the pcoip clients and a virtual system for each of them I'm not sure if I want to configure an expandable btrfs array and just do provisioning within that for everything, or if I want to just dedicate drives as needed Extra thoughts / considerations I'll be using the plex for simplified streaming, mostly for everyone else in the house, I tend to watch from the tower with my nice monitor or directly on phone, but everyone else wants to have something of an actual interface and chromecast / dlna ability and simpler remote access. The non-plex I'll be setting up for mostly office documents synced across devices. The pcoip systems are for mostly browsing maybe some retro gaming. I am also likely to put my entire steam library on the network drive just so I don't need redundant copies on every other system in the house, depending on how well that kind of thing can work out. For example every machine has bro-force right now but if they could all run at the same time from a shared drive without much hassle then why not right? This might be more important on something like GTA taking up all that space, or a single player experience like skyrim with everyone's profiles of mods under a manager. I hope I'm explaining the thought process well enough. If I'd be much better suited getting some used server hardware instead of re-purposing the old rig I can do that and I'd probably be willing to spend up to $600 for that, otherwise if I need something extra to make the old system work I've got cash set aside for that express purpose. I might know what I'm doing around business servers and I'm handy with google, but any tips or advice is appreciated and I certainly want some input regarding this idea as is because it's not like it's a straight forward install.
