So I am considering buying a new router since the one I got from my ISP can only do wifi and have a little switch connected for wired. The problem is that my pc when connected to the switch can't find devices connected to the router via wifi. So I wanted to get a router that has wifi and a few lan ports instead of having the router and switch seperate. From the ISP I got this: https://eyenetworks.no/en/air-4920-product-information/ and the switch looks exactly like this just smaller (could not find the exact same) https://eu.dlink.com/uk/en/products/dgs-1008d-8-port-10-100-1000mbps-gigabit-switch So I am not really sure what price point I would be looking at. I could maybe throw 50 dollars on a router and be more happy with it than what I have now or maybe I would need to spend a lot more? I have only ever had the standard routers I got from my ISP. I had considered wanting to use my quest 2 headset with oculus airlink but I am not sure if any router would do or if I had to buy something more expensive like a "Asus rt-ax86u" for example? I play games on pc that is always wired, my ps5 use wifi and is in the same room as the router, and then I use my smart tv that is upstairs that is in the room right above the router. So it isn't a huge house or anything. I hope that someone will be able to give som suggestions or information. Cause I am not sure what exactly I am looking for or what price point I need to look at to get what I just explained?

This issue just started up recently where my steam vr will just completely lose my right controller but if i go to the oculus home it's perfectly fine. My second issues is that after about 30 mins of any vr game no matter what my steam vr just crashes or my oculus link just quits. I have been using a link cable for all my pc vr and i have 3 vive trackers 3.0. I have tried reinstalling my oculus and my steam vr and tried it without my trackers on and with air link/virtual desktop with the problem still happening just not as often when using virtual desktop and airlink. Just incase anyone asks i have tried a index and a quest 2 and the problem still happens. I even did a fresh install of windows with the problem still happening. I recently picked up playing ATS in VR. Setup was a breeze and everything is easy to adjust. However I have not touched graphics settings. And I seem to have an issue where when I'm still the image is crisp as can be, but when I start to move my head or drive forward it makes everything look like a watering mess. I have zero lag at all it's just the image quality being super watering with occasional screen tearing. I waited to adjust the graphics quality until I talked with someone more experienced in beta VR. And yes I definitely am aware that ATS was not made for VR and everything I'm using isn't exactly stable. However I'm seeing people play this in VR with no issues like mine. I wouldn't think it was a graphical limitation as I'm running an i5 12600k and an RTX 3060 KO and 32Gbs of RAM. I am using it over wifi but my PC is hardlined and I'm no more than 5-10ft from my oculus and even when I'm in the other room playing something like Blade and Sorcery from my PC it runs fine so I'm not thinking it's wifi but I thought the info may be necessary. Thank you!

so, me not being a fan of me-Facebook, i dont exactly trust the oculus app and what it might be doing on my system (im sure i could go through and block whatever network access it has, but anyways). i already plan to install OculusKiller to free up system resources, but i also wanna know how much i can delete from the Oculus folder, in a similar way i did when i had Virtual Desktop running, where all i had left after was C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support, so at least SteamVR could work properly with my quest. basically, i wanna delete as much as possible so that all thats left is whatever is required to allow steamvr to connect to my quest over a link cable. anyone have any suggestions or anything like that to share?

I've had my quest 2 for a while now without this issue. Only recently, I came back from an overseas trip which lasted about 2 weeks, my quest 2, connected via a link cable, suddenly has a ton of screen tearing after launching link. Almost looks as if there is a second monitor over the main display that is delayed or extra smooth. I've tried restarting the oculus service, restarting the headset, re plugging in and out my wire, and uncapping my bandwidth limit. Specs: 6700xt 5700G 32gb 3200

Hello, I'm another one having the problems with quest 2 and laptops. after connecting and setting up the oculus/meta software together with a link cable, everything worked. my quest 2 showed up as connected with no problems. but if you try to activate air-link or something similar, then it gets stuck on the loading screen. after some searching the solution was simple: Disable the internal graphics card via the device manager. and it worked. i got into steam vr and it was running pretty smoth. until i opened vrchat for testing. in there i only got a stable 12 fps. not more not less. i changed every graphic settings i could think of (steam vr, vr chat, oculus ) but my framerate was stuck at 12FPS no matter how high or low i set the resolution. the cable is working properly (2.1Gbits in Oculus cable testing). maybe its the backround (laptop screen, windows) that is taking all the power from the GPU but its just a guess. anybody an idea of what could it be ? Hello - I have been putting together my previous built parts for my mother to play VR with - they are a 4930k and an (almost new, was refurbished) RX580. We tested them last night in VR - they worked great, pretty much 120fps (at 120hz) all the time, crystal clear visuals. Today I took apart that test bench and put them into a new case with a new cooler - while setting it back up, windows forced an update. Hooray. SteamVR, in its behind the scenes performance ranking, is deciding and forcing that SteamVR should target 58% of the native res of the headset - what? It looks awful, the frames are awful, and I cant seem to fix it! This was not the case last night, and temps are still perfectly fine! The best I've gotten it to target today is like 74% resolution with some fiddling. The headset is an Quest 2, the Windows 11 build is a fresh NTLite custom build preset someone put together with some of the junk taken out (before the update I suppose, not sure how much was put back), and the Windows 11 also had the TPM-2.0 req taken out by rufus. I've tried updating drivers, I've tried SteamVR beta, and a bunch of other stuff and I'm not sure what else to do - the only other VR capable GPU i have on hand is in my rig, and I aint taking it out. I've tried the Quest 2 with AirLink and with USB - nada. We tried AirLink only last night, and it worked beautifully. I've used these parts for VR on Win 10 over a year ago, and they worked fine then too. Maybe next step is to go back to Win10? Or reset it with a new NTLite Win11 and turn off auto update? I am not sure. I cant afford to currently and mom does not want to put any more money into this computer - I wanted to get a card from amazon and see if it fixes the problem, but shes not into that. BTW the case is a Corsair 4000D Airflow, nice case, and the cooler is a black noctua U9S in case you were curious. U9S works alright, not the best for this toasty chip but temps are alright. Thanks! EDIT - yes i've tried forcing high % resolution, its still grainy and awful. Bitrate doesnt appear to be the issue, its SteamVR

My Oculus Quest 2 does not want to link to my pc, everytime I plug it in to link to my pc and I click link the three loading dots show up for a second then I end up back in the menu. On the Oculus software on my pc it shows that the headset is connected and active and that there are no issues even though I cannot connect to my pc, it works perfectly fine in standalone mode. This issue started in September and for one day it was working with my pc, but later on the game started to constantly close so I decided to not to play, the next day linking the headset to my pc wouldn't work. The same issue I experienced there is still occuring today and I have tried every single thing that every video on youtube says and that every website says, I have had an active support ticket with Meta since September and I am yet to solve this issue, I have even gotten a replacement headset from Meta recently and the issue is still occuring, I have factory reset it multiple times , switched accounts, repaired the Oculus software on my pc, deleted and reinstalled Oculus software on my computer, updated all drivers on my computer and Quest, and as mentioned earlier even gotten a replacement headset and yet the same issue occurs . To note I am using a 3rd party link cable, but I have tested these and even bought a second link cable just to check if the cable was the issue but unfortunately it was not. My pc meets all the requirements of PC VR gaming and is VR ready accoring to Nvidia experience but still doesn't work when I try link my Quest to it, I cannot try link the quest to another device as I do not have any other devices to try link to. I just really want to be able to experience the PCVR world, but unfortunately the advice from Meta Support is not working. Thanks for taking the time to read.

troubleshooting Oculus and Steam VR not cooperating HELP
RoboticDuckiePrime posted a topic in PC Gaming
Anytime I try to launch a steam game while using airlink, the game never loads, I just stay at the AL dashboard. Even if it renders in a window it's never in the headset. I've tried reinstalling games, steam, steam vr, and oculus software, checked if it was up to date, added launch options like "-vrmode oculus". All to no avail. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. it's driving me insane. I;d like to know what the kink in the system is if possible. -
Summary Oculus Founder Palmer Luckey created a VR headset that executes the player if their in-game avatar dies. Quotes My thoughts As if the metaverse didn't have enough reasons not to play it. For those of you who haven't noticed yet, Palmer Luckey's quote comes from popular Japanese manga and anime series Sword Art Online. What he may have missed is that the creator of the in-universe NerveGear, Akihiko Kayaba (I think that's how you spell it.) Captured ten thousand players at the launch of the game before disabling the log out button and activating the game's deadly mechanics. The entire situation was involuntary for the players. But Bill gates was just caught trying to vaccinate people via mosquitoes, so who's to say your new oculus headset can't kill you. Either way, I ain't buying an Oculus headset anytime soon. I don't use social media, but I needed a facebook account to sign into a something a while ago so I made one. I never posted on it and since Facebook thinks that its a bot if you don't post, it got banned. I went to appeal, it got denied. I can't make another facebook account, and even if i did, i wouldn't use it for anything other than my oculus and it would probably get banned and that might make me lose my oculus account. How do i get around this?

I have had this weird issue for about a year that is only present when i use my quest 2 with the link. During gameplay my headset will cycle the screen/ sleep cycle; screen goes black, see the loading dots, then the game will load up again. The cycle lasts around 10 secs, and will occur intermittently. To my knowledge it is has nothing to do with tracking being lost, as i will be stationary when the cycle happens. I am led to believe that this an issue with the oculus software or the fact that oculus is the openxr default program. I have used Virtual Desktop through steam and do not have any similar bug happening. I would like to continue to use the oculus link software as it appears to be a little better performance and latency. Any direction or tips would be helpful.

Hello, First time posting so I hope I get this right. I have had the hardest time connecting my oculus quest 2 to my PC since I got it, some days it would work great, others it wouldn't work at all, and recently it stopped working entirely. I tried lots of different things but in the end I unplugged every USB device from my PC, Tested, and it worked fine. I then proceeded to plug everything back in one at a time till it stopped working again. I have narrowed it down to my Scarlett Focusrite solo being the issue, as long as thats plugged in, regardless of which USB port its plugged into, the oculus will not connect to my PC via oculus link. So here is my question. is this a USB bandwidth issue? a power issue? or an audio issue? I'd like to elaborate on that last one if I may in the past when the oculus would SOMETIMES connect, it was often without desktop audio, I would go into my audio settings and disable and re-enable the oculus audio and that would sometimes work. I also notice that the little green bar in the sound settings would be half green, suggesting there was some constant audio coming through that channel. My specs are as follows MOBO: MSI A320m pro-m2 vs GPU: GTX1070 CPU: Ryzen 2600 Ram: 16GB 2400hz PSU: (I think) Corsair 600watt bronze something something something, If it turns out thats super important I will pull the side off and look. I do have an inexpensive USB3 card plugged in but not in use as well. any insight on what might be going on is welcome. Thank You

I'm currently sourcing parts for a PC build which I plan to use for VR. I'll be using an Oculus Quest 2 and connecting it through Virtual Desktop and AirLink. The only card I can find in my budget is the Radeon RX6600-XT. Will this be an alright choice for the Quest 2?

I dunno if Peripherals is the correct subforum to post this under, but I searched and saw other VR posts here, so if this is the wrong place, let me know. The company one of my family members work for has bought 5 Oculus Quest 2's that they want to use for community events and online meetups, I suppose. However, it appears that they have no clue how to actually get them set up and didn't know about the facebook account requirement before purchasing them. They thought they'd just be able to make one account and share it across all the headsets, but it seems they wouldn't be able to play online with each other if they do that. I've been told there's a more business oriented version of the headsets you can buy, but that doesn't really help because they've already purchased 5 regular consumer model quest 2's. I guess what I'm really asking is what the best way to go about setting up these headsets would be. Do they just have to make 5 facebook accounts to tie to each of the headsets so they can play together? Is there any risk of those accounts getting banned and bricking the headset since there's no actual person tied to them? Any help or info would be appreciated, thanks.

The title pretty much explains it. I try to run the installer and it it'll show up on my taskbar for about a second until it closes by itself. I have already contacted the Oculus Support Team but I want this sorted out as soon as possible. Here's a list of things I have already tried: Restarted computer Ran it as administrator Ran the Windows troubleshooter Tried to install it on a different drive I have 800+ Gb free on C drive Tried to run it on a different drive Killed all other background apps Disabled Windows Defender Disabled Windows Firewall So I Googled it and another forum told me to take a look at the .log file. I checked it out and the error was: [Error] [12/26/2021 8:44:30 PM] DeviceIoControl() failed with 0 bytes returned. [0] [Warning] [12/26/2021 8:44:30 PM] Exception when enumerating drives: System.Exception: Exception of type 'System.Exception' was thrown. at Daybreak.Win32.Kernel.IsInternal(DriveInfo driveInfo) at Dawn.InstallLocations.Scan(Int64 requiredSpace) Any idea what this means? Any help would be appreciated. This has been frustrating me all day. Thanks.

Hi Everyone, Wanting to get some advice for a router specifically for Oculus Air Link. I currently have a nighthawk X6S AC4000 router, but it's in the room next to my PC, and can't be moved. Latency and general stability of oculus air link is a bit rubbish. Was looking at maybe getting a dedicated router and use it as a Wi-Fi 6 AP. Unsure whether anyone's had experience of this setup, and/or can recommend a good router for it. Looking at the TP-LINK AX1500, seems to be one of the cheapest WiFi 6 capable ones. Thanks!

I use an Oculus quest 2 to play PC VR games using Oculus Link. It works great! I have had basically no issues with it running on my PC. I think i will use it to play PC VR games for a long time. Eventually, however, I will want to upgrade. What headset do i choose? The Vive headsets don't seem to out preform the Quest 2 in any way. And even if they do, I don't know which specific model does so. I've heard the Vive pro does well, but it's extremely over priced. And the Valve Index is too far out of my price range ATM. I'm willing to save up for any of these headsets, but I just want to narrow down which one I should buy. Any advice would be helpful!

so pretty much i like to animate and play Vr, so i downloaded blender and oculus link on my RTX 2060 and Everything worked great! Then about 3 months ago an issue arrised my oculus link would crash upon opening heres vid (https://youtu.be/7xyRfXlVB4E). and then i did some digging and figured out my GPU would spike to 100% then go back to normal and that would crash link. (in the vid when it does the freeze frame thing is when the GPU spikes). i dont know what is happening and would love really any input!

Hi! I've been thinking about getting an Oculus Quest 2 for a bit now, but I'm a little worried its a bad idea. It mainly stems from the fact that the Oculus Quest 3 is rumored to be announced early next year. I don't want to buy a VR system only for a better (and possibly cheaper) version to come out a month later, so if you guys could answer a few questions for me that would be great. [Forewarning: Most of these will be about speculation] 1) Is there any credible info that the next model will be a more expensive/'Pro' model? 2) Will the Oculus Quest 2 become obselete soon? (i.e. no more updates, games won't work, etc) 3) Are there any other VR headsets around the same price range which might be better? If you've got any more information that might be helpful feel free to add it. Thanks!
