Dear LTT community, I hope our collected knowledge can help me fix this problem that is driving me crazy currently. Hardware: I built an ITX setup in January this year and for some reason, my BIOS keeps resetting after every shutdown (not only on A/C loss!). You could think, that this is quite easy - the CMOS battery must be dead. But that does not seem to be the case as the time and date is always correct, even after unplugging the PC from power for several hours. The CMOS battery seems to be fine. Upon powering the PC up, it shows the message "Please enter setup to recover bios settings", indicating that some test failed. In the bios, all settings are back to default and I have to adjust the settings manually or load from a profile, which I created earlier (the profile also seems to survive shutdowns/power losses). This is quite annoying as I use the PC while travelling as a mobile gaming setup and it's impractical to reconfigure the BIOS on every boot. As long as the PC is running, I face no issues at all, it's perfect. But when shutting it down for a few minutes, the problems occur (reboots and shutdown and instant boot are no problem). Things I already tried: Resetting BIOS by flashing the latest BIOS Updating BIOS to latest version Reinstalling Windows with all drivers from ASUS website Running full memtestx86 (all four tests pass 100% with no errors) Running Heavyload 100% sustained CPU+GPU+RAM+SSD load for 60 minutes, temps never higher than 75 °C, no errors Checking CMOS battery status in HWINFO Turning XMP/DOCP on and off Using BIOS with default settings I had an Asrock x570 TB3/iTX before the Asus board, which faced similar issues (but that seemed to be intentional, as described in many Reddit and forum threads) so I switched to the Asus board. On the Asrock one, the BIOS also lost track of the time, indicating that it is a different issue. I am unsure how to fix this or proceed now. Has anyone else faced similar issues? I am thinking that the CPU might be broken, but currently I am not desperate enough to buy another CPU just for debugging reasons. Taking my ITX build apart is always a lot of work and I just want the system to work. Best regards and thanks to all of you for your efforts! Moritz

Hey guys, just wanted to ask if a ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 4070 OC Edition 12GB for around 700$ is a good price? Iam currently running a GTX 1060, and i really need an upgrade... Or are there better alternatives for an (some what) futureproof upgrade ? Thanks in advance!

Hey guys! The reason I bring this. Is because I have a Zotac Trinity RTX 3090 paired with a Ryzen 9 5900X and I’ve had it for about a year and a bit now, and I’ve only just started noticing recently that every single update that Nvidia releases for GeForce cards seem to slow them right down, especially the most recent one ( 546.17 ) I play games like Euro Truck Simulator 2, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and GTAV And the performance is just completely unacceptable for a card of this tier, The reason I was able to confirm the performance loss is because I downgraded temporary way to a driver from 2021 ( 471.41 ) and the performance on the older driver was so much better so it makes me now wonder if Nvidia are deliberately doing this to try and persuade people to buy their new 40 Series cards Someone please advise Many thanks Marcus

Hello , I have recently started having issues with my gtx 1660. Everytime i stay in a game continously for 10+ minutes it gives wierd artifacts and sound glitches on the entire screen and it either crashes completely restarting the system , freezes OR the screen comes back on like nothing even happened. Even my game doesn't disconnect from server when that third scenario happens. I ran DDU in safe mode twice uninstalling gpu and audio drivers. While i did this i unchecked the "auto windows update driver" checkbox at the very bottom. So after i did all that reinstalling and uninstalling gpu drivers and restarted , the computer seemed to work fine , i ran a cinebench benchmark for the entire 10 minutes and it scored 3000 something score so i know there is nothing wrong with the card performance. The issues started to happen again once i restarted my pc the next day and i ran cinebench again which crashed the pc , i have wiped drivers and reinstalled again in safe mode and currently running cinebench gpu test without any issues. Tried reseating card, tried different 6+2 connector. Nothing works , only thing i haven't done yet is try a fresh install of windows and different dvi cable. Any help would be appreciated.

So I backed up and then modded the bios of my (reference) 980 Ti. Removed power limit, and removed boost, added fan stop below 64°C. (This part is not the important thing, but it is just for you to know where my doubts are coming from) Why does this (and almost every) GPU draws as much as 410 watts during a MSI kombustor test (donut 5200MB in case it is relevant) while reporting 100% GPU usage, and, while gaming it still gets 100% usage, but power consumption won't get past 220 watts, even at a higher GPU clock than kombustor test. If some of you want the bios, I can upload it. Thank you in advance.

Friend gave me his old Galax GeForce GTX 960 and I have now made it my life mission to get it working on my ancient Dell Precision T3500 just for the funny. It fits-ish and I have to push it up a bit to fit the DisplayPort cable in, however it only spins to life every second boot and has no display output? Even when I use the old GPU, Windows won't boot if the new GPU is installed. PC Specs: Intel Xeon 3500 Series CPU 10GB of DDR3 RAM (it used to have 12GB but one of the slots exploded ) Windows 7 Professional 64bit WD Black 1TB 7200RPM HDD (SATA 3GBPS) If you have any advice, please let me know

Hello Community, I wanted to share a recent experience and seek your thoughts. I've encountered a potentially serious issue with my RTX 4090. My CableMod 12 Pin Angled Adapter, correctly installed with the latch firmly clicked in, unexpectedly burned out. This has raised significant safety concerns for me. Has anyone else had a similar experience with this adapter or the RTX 4090? Any insights or advice on how to address this issue would be greatly appreciated. I'm also curious if this is a known problem within the community. Thanks in advance for your input!

A few months ago, my former boss gave me a Nvidia Jetson Nano. It runs a custom version of Ubuntu with Nvidia drivers ontop of it. But as I find A.I. very stupid and useless, I'd like to find a way to install Windows or something that will support OBS Studio so I use it for IRL Live streaming. Does anyone know of a normal version of Linux I can run on this thing that will let me do just that or let me run some custom form of Windows on this and put it to better use than none-sense A.i. projects? Also, could I get something like a USB microphone and some kind of camera working on it for Live streaming? Thanks.

Hi, My current build is: Intel i5 13400F Gigabyte M760H-DS3H Mobo Corssair Vigilance 5200Mhz DDR5 16GB RAM Cooler Master 650Watts Bronze SMPS GPU Nvidia Gigabyte 1050ti I wanted to upgrade my GPU and my budget is between 20k to 25K! I did some research and based on benchmark I shortlisted 1. Intel Arc 770 2. Intel Arc 750 3. Nvidia 2060 Super I used 2060 super from Gigabyte and somehow it got burned, so I'm a little skeptical about it. On the other hand, Intel Arc series is a new name and I don't know anything about their performance! Can you please help me decide whether I should go with 2060 super or Intel Arc 770?

Planing on getting a new GPU. Was really debating between the 4080 and 7900xtx. The 7900xtx looked like a no brainer, cheaper, more ram for the future, faster(except for RT) and the new amd frame gen looked promising. Then I started looking at the market (I am from the Philippines), then I noticed how wild the prices are. The cheapest 7900xtx is $1,155.00 which is constantly going in and out of stock. The readily available ones go for $1,234.00. While the 4080 cheapest one is $1,287.00 and the avg price is around $1,322.00. I really wanted to try the 7900xtx but I don't feel like paying close to 25% more it's msrp. Feels like I am getting ripped off. Well I am getting ripped off either way lol. Now I'm leaning towards the 4080 because hey at least I'll only be paying 10% more than the msrp and with a gap that small i guess the little extra for RT(cyberpunk) would be ok? Also I'd like to do some live streaming here and then and the nvenc is nice, does amd have something similar to nvenc for live streaming? It just don't taste right paying way waaaay above msrp. Hell I am even considering the the 4090 now with these crazy prices. What would you guys do? Get the slightly better product but way out of the msrp. Get the 4080 because it's closer to msrp. Or fuck it, save up some more and just get the 4090? Will the 4080s 16g ram be enough in the future? Will my EVGA 850w p2 be able to handle the 4090 and will the connectors be enough or compatible? Also if your from the Philippines and know of a good deal pls let me know. Using avg prices and launch msrp 7900xtx is 23% above msrp 4080 10% above msrp 4090 15% above msrp (They run for around $1,834.00 here) Edit my bad I used the msrp for the XT instead of the XTX

Hi all I hope you had a nice day today, I wanted to ask your opinion on an upgrade that I was considering recently. As for a little background, I had this build (link) for over a year and it's been a pretty decent experience with it. As you might recall, however, by the time I built this PC, the GPU prices were EXTREMELY high and therefore I went with a 3060, which costed me about 380-400€. But, since the new RTX40 series made their place in the market, I am wondering how effective it'd be for me to upgrade my RTX3060 which honestly is not used that much anyway... I'm definitely going to sell my GPU if I decide to upgrade, which I'm thinking I can sell it for about 250-300€ range, so that gives me an additional boost to afford maybe something like the RTX4060? And lastly, I'd be doing this change most likely after Christmas, but before that I wanted to hear your ideas about the upgrade, as this is my first ever build. Thank you very much!

First of all…English is not my first language and I’m very sorry if I happen to make any spelling mistakes. As I mentioned in the title I have issues with the Nvidia GPU drivers. Me and a friend built a new PC and installed Windows 11 on a M.2 SSD. Everything fine so far. We installed all the windows 11 updates that you are apparently required to install on a clean install of windows. After that we tried to install the Nvidia Drivers for the RTX 3060ti. Unfortunately, while installing the driver the system restarts and the screen starts flickering black. Windows tries to boot but can’t… …and there we are for the 5th time, stuck in the windows 11 recovery mode. Not sure what the cause might be. I guess the GPU? Since it happens only after installing the latest Nvidia driver( tried with and without Nvidia Experience) The systems specs: CPU: Ryzen 5700x GPU: KFA 2 RTX 3060ti EX RAM: 16GB DDR4-3600 PSU: Bequiet Straight Power 11 650 watt SSD: 2TB Adata XPG Gaming S70 Blade PCIE 4.0 MB: MSI B550 Tomahawk Max Wifi

Hello everyone, I've built my pc around 5 years ago and it's been serving me well, but around July I started having weird freezes while gaming (mostly gtav and valheim) in which first the game freezes, then rapidly the whole system locks up except for the mouse cursor, but I can't click anything, any input from kb or mouse is ignored and it requires a hard shutdown. It could go days without happening, or it could happen multiple times within an hour. There's no bsod, and the event viewer shows no errors or warnings before the shutdown. Temps aren't exceeding 60-70C, voltages seem fine, it happens regardless with cpu/gpu/ram either stock or oc/optimized. Reinstalled windows, issue still happening. So I'm like f it, I wanted to upgrade the pc anyway. I just got all the parts last week and been gaming on it fine for a couple days, and surprise! same issue on new machine, which seemed to run ok before I installed a riser cable though, I'll have to test again without it but it could as well be a coincidence. While I'll get around to try that, I'll ask you if there's anything else I should test. Specs time: Machine 1: OS : win 10 home. Cpu : i7 8700k. Cpu cooler : corsair h110i. Nvcp settings: max framerate 141fps, low latency on, vsync on (AFAIK, suggested gsync settings which worked fine for me for years). Latest BIOS on both machines. Since I'm having the same issue on 2 different machines, I feel like it's more likely a software issue rather than a hardware one. Troubleshooting attempts made on pc1: reverted to older iCUE version which I ran for almost 2 years with no issues, tried several gpu drivers (with DDU wiping), nuked down nahimic service, disabled fast startup, disabled hw acceleration for all apps running on 2nd screen (like discord and chrome), reinstalled windows, tried running the pc without any monitoring softwares, checked disk for errors, verified game files, ran the pc overclocked and stock. pc2: all of the above, plus reinstalled windows without any asus softwares. Considering I'm not really bothered to fix pc1 right now, next steps I'll try on pc2 are: install gpu back into mobo directly, try some known good video drivers (528.49 according to some posts on reddit should be considered stable and consistent by the community), nuke down iCUE (that will suck because I use it for macros). Anything else I should try? TIA

The situation is as follows, the video card arrived on July 25th, I bought it through Mercado Livre (an online marketplace in Brazil). After a month, I noticed that it was experiencing an issue. When I was using a social network or a website (YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, etc.), in some corner of the screen, randomly, the image would distort with small black squares (as shown in the attached image). It happened very quickly, almost imperceptibly at times. I performed some tests like checking if the card was properly seated, testing all the DisplayPort inputs, as well as just the HDMI input, and testing the cables, but the problem persisted. This issue doesn't occur with another video card. The problem is intermittent, meaning it doesn't happen all the time, but recently, it's been happening quite often. The black squares don't stay on the screen continuously; they appear and disappear rapidly, sometimes taking around 2 or 3 seconds at most. Testing it today (September 21st), it stayed on the screen for about 8 seconds. If it helps, it occurs more often when I'm watching TikTok videos, scrolling through Twitter posts, watching YouTube shorts, or even when I scroll rapidly up or down with the mouse on YouTube, for example. I received a response about this from Galax: "Other users with the same model of graphics card are experiencing the same issue; it is an error in the Nvidia driver, not a problem with the card, and we are not responsible for the drivers but rather an error in the driver update. Our suggestion is to use older drivers until the issue is resolved by Nvidia. Thank you for your preference. Sincerely, GALAX BRAZIL" I wanted to know if someone has ever experienced this issue and if it's indeed the driver. I also installed version 536.40 here and noticed that the problem occurred once. If someone has a solution, please let me know, or if I really need to insist with them regarding the warranty.

I am upgrading/building a pc, everything has been decided except the GPU, my choice is between 3 GPUs; Zotac RTX 4060 Ti Amp 16GB or Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB or Gigabyte Radeon RX 6750 XT GAMING OC 12G. I want to know which GPU is best and how they would be ranked in order of performance and efficiency/value.

I spoke to the Gigabyte customer care regarding the issue and upon checking the GPU they informed me that the card could be burned due to PSU. In any case since the card is burned the warranty cannot be claimed! My concern is if I buy a new card and it gets burned too? Please help me with this situation, should I buy a Gold certified PSU? Or should I buy a 1000VA UPS? Also, which GPU should I buy considering my budget is INR 25,000/- I use Amazon.in to and local market in my area to buy PC components. (Picture of burned GPU attached!)

Problem: For the last two or three graphics driver updates (via GeForce Experience), the screen goes black (as usual) but then I can hear something changes with the fans and then after waiting a while I get a BSOD (see attached image). I have no idea what causes it. It is only when I update my drivers that it does this. The only other weird behaviour that I see with my PC is sometimes after I close Path of Exile my computer often lags a lot and is super slow. That may resolve itself eventually but usually I shut the computer down then. Any idea what could be the issue? Should I be worrying about my hardware? Should I reinstall windows?
