I'm planning on building my on gaming PC (or paying someone else to build it), and I am a complete newb at PC parts in general. like, I know the basics and I watched a few Linus Tech Tips videos (I'm basically a pro), but I ultimately don't really know what I'm doing. I'm planning on running high-end games with at least moderate settings and medium-end games at high settings (mainly I just want to run Team Fortress 2 and Minecraft and all that). I got some advice from a person in a Discord server who half knew what he was doing, but I've come here seeking advice from the genius minds of the Linus Tech Tips fanbase. Here is a link to my cart on pcpartpickers.com. I am Australian, so if you converted prices to AUD that'd be swell. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/simpcyan/saved/y9wxHx Many thanks!

Budget (including currency): $3k MAX Country: United States [South] Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Streaming (YT), Editing (Davinci Resolve), Games [Minecraft, Scrap Mechanic], Programing, AI Training Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Probably Need at least one more monitor, but I have keyboard mouse and mic. Preferred Peripherals are RAZER. I do not want it to be better than a MSI GS65 Stealth -> 9th Gen Intel i7-9750/NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1660Ti [Current System will be converted to a Linux testing station] This is my first PC build so almost anything could help. Currently looking at: Intel I5 - 12600k NIVIDA GPU [not sure on the model yet not necessarily stuck to NIVIDA] 16Gb RAM min NVME SSD [prefer 1 TB] I have no clue when it comes to cases. What works well what doesn't where to buy lol. RGB is nice. I want to have this build done by May Next year as i am about to graduate and my Uni provides all students with an emergency copy of windows like if you totally deleted off the PC you just built.

Hi everyone, I've been saving up for a while and am finally able to purchase my first pc. I am probably planning to build it myself as the prebuilts I can find so far are way too expensive for what they are. Budget (including currency): Since this is my first PC the budget would be a max of 1500 AUD including monitor maybe - slightly flexible. Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: It will be used for both gaming and digital art. I mainly play apex, league, gta, dead by daylight, genshin impact, valorant and I couple others I can't remember off the top of my head. I'll also be using this pc for schoolwork and/or digital art. Other details Currently I'm playing on a crappy hp laptop that I can't even remember the specs of ahah. I'll also need monitor suggestions as well as I'm not sure what to buy - but I'll probably be playing 1080p. I know the gpu market right now is crazy but I did see a new 1650 going for 360 AUD and was wondering if I should get it before it goes for this build. Thanks in advance!

So, going into the new year, I got my local game shop owner to agree to giving me shelf space for some 3D printed hobby accessories! I've had a few designs in mind for a while, so this is going to be really awesome! I'm trying to comb through to find the right printer, but I'm drowning in buzz-wordy Christmas ads. I'm looking for a decent printer that can work on a 8" cubic volume. One of my main products will be non-randomized dice, so I'm looking for a material with a bit of density, or the ability to pause mid-print and add a small weight. I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give, hope everyone's x-mas is going well!

this is a dumb question but my budget is under $1000 and i found 3050 laptops with in my budget, but i found a Zephyrus G14 within my budget with a 1650 which i have hear is an extremely good laptop. so my dilemma is should i get a laptop with up to date specs, or get a well reviewed supposedly reliable laptop that out dated. keep in mind this is gonna be my man PC for the next 4 years cause of college (mechanical engineering), hence why I'm being super picky and double checking everything. Thanks for your time, and happy new year

Noob here, I have an old Toshiba encore write 2 (windows tablet) that I've been thinking of switching to Linux for awhile now to give it a bit of a refresh. My biggest reason for this is that Id like to use it for sketching and every time windows gets another update it gets seems to get alot slower which is not good from an art perspective. This would be my first time trying Linux on a device from scratch and my biggest concern would be support for the digitizer ( it uses Wacom active es with the Toshiba trupen). Would it be possible to switch it from windows and retain full functionality? Any advice is welcome

I recently assembled a new pc and I have my old pc lying around. I saw the video about turning old computers into home servers, but I was wondering is it worth it? What can I use it for? I am a PhD student in physics, therefore I know very little about programming and it has always been focused on the data process of my measurements (mainly statistics and plotting). I do run some simulations and this could be for me the only reason why I might benefit from a PC running overnight. Yet since I do this very rarely I don't think it is worth having a machine running 24/7 for this reason. What are the uses of a home server? And, more importantly, how easy would it be to make it run? The specs of my old pc are: i7 6700 16 gb ddr4 Kingston HyperX Fury HX421C14FB/8 @2133MHz asus h170PRO 500gb ssd (some samsung 2.5 inches one) 3Tb hard drive (WD Red) Also what are the benefits of crushing my head into learning how to use a linux based os rather than the already installed and so well known win 10? Thanks to whoever will reply! Sorry for any typos or bad english, as this is not my native language.

I wanted suggestions on where i can cut corners and where i can spend a little extra. i am planning on using the stock coller with ryzen cpu and the igpu due to the gpu shortage and plan on adding a rtx 360 down the road, i already have a mouse and keyboard but do not have a monitor so add that to the price too. also i think there is a issue with b550 motherboard where you have to update bios to support ryzen 5600g, as mentioned this is my first build so i dont know how to do that so help me with that too PS: Sorry for bad English I am lazy and it i not my first language

Does anyone have experience using a China ver phone (specifically Xiaomi) as their daily in the States or Europe? I recently saw a really good deal on a Redmi 10x but I know that phone has never gotten a global version. Would it be as simple as choosing English, removing bloatware and installing the playstore or is it more complicated than that? Would I have to flash GAPPS or would just installing google apps like maps & gmail be ok ? Preferably I'd like to not root the phone but I do have experience with rooted phones ( although I've only ever rooted android emulators which probably doesn't count tho). Basically if anyone has experience using a China rom as their daily driver I'd like to know what I'd need to expect ?

I have a noob question regarding my NAS. I pulled an old computer out of my local transfer station that had three 1.5 TB WD Greens in it, so I decided to set up this computer with TrueNAS and use it as a NAS. In a shocker to absolutely nobody one of the old 1.5TB WD greens has begun to fail after being used for only a few months. As I was aware that using older hard drives not designed for this use case which I literally found amongst the trash were likely to do this I set up all three drives in a raid 5 so I can lose a drive and not have to worry too much. As this drive is failing I want to preemptively purchase another one and install it in its place but I cannot find any new hard drives that are 1.5 TB. Could I purchase a 2 TB hard drive and just throw it in and then rebuild the array or will that cause a problem because it's a higher capacity than the drive it's replacing? I would assume this is not a problem but I want to double check before I do anything and potentially screw something up.

I'm setting up a linux file share server on my laptop and I can't leap over the last hurdle...https://imgur.com/gallery/pVpKmS2 I've set up the server and I can't seem to upload any files to it, all I get is this icon and when I click it it brings me to the site of the server, listing ip and other connections. How can I set this up to for windows to treat it just like an ordinary server If you need any more info I will gladly provide it. This is a static ip server meant to share files between a few friends Thanks in advance for the help!

Budget (including currency): ~800€ Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Most of the time LoL, Minecraft, programming and Adobe CC Other details: Atm I have a dual monitor setup with a ThinkPad T420, that can barely handle it. I got a laptop 2 years ago, but it has only one output. My monitors are Samsung 27" 60hz. I searched the pieces myself: (German website for hardware listing) https://geizhals.de/?cat=WL-2068708 I like the size of the case, but I'm not sure if I want the i-version of it.... I searched for an iGPU because GPUs are too expensive, as we see in the latest vid. The motherboard should fit to it :). I plan on getting a 3070 when the price is back to normal, then also upgrading the CPU. Edit: I also think the RAM is kind of ugly.... What do you think & what would you change? Greetings, Andreas

Hello All! New to posting and PC building/replacing parts so please bear with me and this is a multi-part question! I purchased an Ibuypower Element version 2 and just recently upgraded my RAM. I would like to see better performance while gaming and to establish a better internet connection. I am currently running off Wi-Fi even though I know ethernet is the best. As of right now, it is very difficult to do at the moment. Please let me know if I am missing any of the specs! Thank you all very taking the time to read this and your support! Is 8512 good points for cinebench r23? I read from google that above 1000 is good for gaming, but 8512 seems like alot for me. So is that a good score? I have the AMD Ryzen 5 4600G.

I plan on building a new pc once the prices for GPU's go back to "normal" prices. I plan on using AIO's to cool my CPU & GPU. Could I use two systems? One AIO for the CPU & a second AIO for the GPU? I can fit 2 360 waterblocks in my case so I do have the space for it. Would it be possible and are there things I need to look out for? The picture is the case I'll be using, a Raijintek NYX Pro in yellow.
