Hello everyone! As you can see from the title i am a first time builder. Some Info: im building this PC mainly for 3D work/ animation in Autodesk Maya, Illustrator, and After Effects. From time to time i will be using this PC to play a few games at 1440p 60 fps at medium to medium low settings. Some of these games include Outlast II and a few AAA titles. My budget for this PC was at $2,160 USD. i will also be buying these parts from the US. What i really want to know is: Are all the Parts Compatible? and Is there anything i should change to make this run better? Hello LTT community! I'm a 3D Animation & CGI student about to start his final year (if nothing goes wrong). The final year will involve the creation of a 30sec to 2min rendered movie (Using Renderman, Mental Ray or Unreal Engine 4, etc...) I'll be using programs such as Autodesk Maya, Blender and the Adobe product lineup (Mainly Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Audition) Even though I have access to pretty powerful school 3D computers, I want to get a new build in order to work home at 3 am with a cup of coffee beside me... So tl;dr, I plan to build a 3D centric productivity desktop (gaming too since I still game, hue). Here's a PCPartPicker to give an idea of my planned build: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/XqwxCy *Sidenote: Purchased items are the optional stuff I'm considering* My aimed budget is around $2k CAD for the computer parts (CPU, Cooler, Mobo, RAM, PSU, Storage, GPU and case), but I can be a little liberal. The spoiler below is an opinion/argument of my own for each component (then again, I'm a noob...so maybe I should just shut my mouth, but whatever). So here are (possibly) some questions that I'm expecting from the pros: So yeah, I guess that's it. Feel free to ask me anything and I'm open to any suggestions! Thank you for your time! P.S.: Here, have an Ene GIF. OwO ============================================== UPDATE - REVISION 1.0 (12:20 AM - 2017-04-06) Thank you all for the feedbacks! Here's an updated parts list from your opinions: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/YtxnFd In summary: In the end, we saved $15.07! (Woot Woo!) So yeah, that's the first revision. Again, feedbacks would be nice. Thanks! P.S.: Another Ene GIF , lul.

Im wondering if I connect a 4-pin fan hub to my power supply ( since my MB only support 1 CPU_FAN and 2 CHA_fan(s) ) If fans connected to this hub would run at 100% all the time.

I was unboxing everything I just bought. When I opened the processor's box, I grabbed the cooler and put it on my leg, but I didn't realized there was thermal compound in it... This is what happened:

Hey guys I was wondering if you could suggest me some modems for just simple home networking. The ISP provided modem is just not cutting it, and im willing to upgrade to about US$200. Due to my house's layout, Ethernet cable isn't possible so range should be about a 8m radius. The network will be used on about half a dozen devices and will be primarily streaming media (ie, not too much gaming). Thanks in advance

does anyone know how to add texts to images through coding? it could be php, java, etc. im a noob in training something like this website http://www.online-image-editor.com/

Hello everybody, I am working on a new ELO system for csgo and I don't know how to code for it on arduino. WARNING: I AM A NOOB WITH ARDUINO!!! I am looking for a way to use the serial monitor to give me an answer based on my inputs EXAMPLE: if i have the equasion Y=MX+B, I want it (the arduino) to ask me what M, X, and B are then, once i input the answer, solve. This ELO equasion takes into account rounds won/lost KDR (more in that later) and round impact.

So im new to pc building and im wondering how can i achieve a positive or neutral air flow in my Phantex Enthoo Evolv. I want to put as many RGB led fans as possible. The case supports 2x 140mm in the front, 2x 140mm in the top, 1x 140mm at the back, 3x 120mm in the front, 3x 120mm in the top, 1x 120mm in the back. Im planing on putting a 120mm radiator at the back. So what combination of fans would get me positive or neutral airflow and use as many fans as possible.

I need a Laptop that is small and well portable, purpose would be writing code and watching tv-series and light gaming but it has to be ultra portable and also have to have a long battery life, my budget is around $1000 and I can also get a little higher, I was thinking about razer blade stealth, help me with it and also with light video editing, not rendering just editing

Welcome to my thread! Please post any of your recommendations and such below. You can even send me a PCPartPicker perma-link with your recommended changes. Isn't technology awesome? Anyway, let's get this potato rolling. _____________________________________________________________ >> SALVAGEABLE PARTS << an M.2 wireless network card (802.11b/g/n) simple but not too shabby. a SATA powered DVD drive from the AIO if I ever needed one. A 500GB BARRACUDA HDD @ 7200RPM 4GB of SO-DIMM RAM @ ?MHz A few SATA cables, maybe. Zip ties (of course) A shotty PWM blower fan from the AIO Meet "AIO", my previous family desktop. (lmfao) Click HERE to view the specs/other salvageable parts if I missed any.. Make sure you have a brown bag, though. _____________________________________________________________ PCPartPicker perma-link So, this is my current parts list, I've researched all of these parts a TON and eventually found my sweet spot... http://pcpartpicker.com/list/YWzJtJ PLEASE SHARE ALL OF YOUR OPINIONS ON PARTS YOU RECOMMENDED..!!! _____________________________________________________________ 1. Budget & Location Ahh, the budget. The numbers that determine the potential of your PC. I live in the US, so USD is going to be the currency. My budget is $900 USD NOTE: I am NOT willing to go over this amount - maybe by a few tens to increase the performance significantly. _____________________________________________________________ 2. My aim G-A-M-I-N-G what's that spell? You already know. I will be using this rig for moderate to heavy gaming as well as everyday use. Games I'm planning to run: GTA: V Battlefield 1 Rise of the Tomb Raider And other AAA titles Everyday tasks, Benchmarking and such: Basic 5-10 tabs in Google Chrome Streaming on YouTube Browsing Facebook, Reddit etc. Planning to do some Benchmarking, maybe. _____________________________________________________________ 3. Monitor(s) A flat-screen panel I have now shall be sufficient, beggars can't be choosers! I will always run one panel. If I ever do get a monitor in the future, it should be at least 1920x1080p - 2560×1440 (I'm not so big on 4k yet...) _____________________________________________________________ 4. Peripherals Peripherals aren't a must. I have a fairly nice TV (@60Hz) that I can use via HDMI - As of mice and keyboards, they are not a must either. But if you can fit it into my budget, that'd be pretty sweet. (I have some keyboards and mice from the AIO) _____________________________________________________________ 5. Why are you upgrading? I am a first time builder, I have been a loyal subscriber to Linustechtips.com for about a year, watching every video. learning, expanding my knowledge. I've searched article after article, streamed hundreds of gigabytes worth of benchmarks on YouTube.. and it all led to me doing this - building my very own PC. _____________________________________________________________ Contact info? SOLVED! The He-400i was determined to be the best solution! Thanks to all that participated, have a nice day! TL;DR (a really brief summary) at the bottom. Hello all, This isn't my first attempt at getting help on this forum, my last one didn't end in quite the way I wanted, likely due to the unintentional narrowing of the subject by myself. I hope this go will be more of a success. I have noticed the recommended gear post, but that seems limited, and my curiosity leads me to ask; if anyone can give a recommendation of a headphone more suiting to my taste, or assist in my comprehension of headphones to the point where I can make a better educated decision on a pair more suiting to myself. So, I am looking to replace my current daily headset the Sennheiser Game One (this is one of the most awkward names for a product to put into context). There are a couple of reasons, first off, I have come to dislike their sound, after listening to my warmer (that means more bass heavy and reduced treble right?) V-Moda LP2's I have come to realize the odd flatness of the sound which the Sennheiser gives (but much clearer sounds in the mids which makes it a colder sound right?), however their relative cheapness and status of gaming should have warned me about questionable sound. Secondly, the mic on the headset has started to fail which makes communication frustrating. I have an interest in the audiophile community, but I lack experience and only know basic jargon. What do I look for in a headset? From my annoyingly limited perspective I seem to prefer warmer sounding headphones. The extra bass makes most of the games and music which I listen to far more intense, however when I want to really enjoy my music or look for meaning in it I find the lack of clarity when I dig deeper frustrating. As far as I understand, this is a limitation of headphone tech in general, but for my purposes my daily headphones will need to be warmer, possibly more in the middle, and further down the line I may invest in a more analytical pair of cans. I've been saving my pennies and have come up with a budget of $500, that will need to cover shipping, AMP and/or DAC, the headphones and a mic (some nice cheap ones on Amazon seem to fit the bill). Current motherboard is an Asus Z-170 ProGaming. The soundcard appears to be this: SupremeFX 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC, if that makes sense to anyone. It also claims to be able to drive 300 ohm headphones but I am not quite sure of the legitimacy of such a claim, however it would be mighty convenient not to need an AMP, more money to the headphones. A concise list of preferences: $500 covering everything Warmer sounding headphones AMP and/or DAC if required (I doubt I'll need a DAC) Cheap, preferably nice-sounding mic (not the focus) New, will consider used high-end (I am concerned about legitimacy, especially from sites I don't know well.) Over-ear Open-back (I'll be using them in a mostly quiet basement, and noise interference or leakage won't be an issue.) Headphones I have looked at (a pair that I have seriously considered is marked with an "SC") : Sennheiser HD650 (SC) Sennheiser HD700 (SC) Sennheiser HD598 Sennheiser HD600 HiFiMan He-400i HiFiMan He-560 (if one appears really cheap used) (SC) Beats (more out of curiosity than anything else, I have fond memories of going from old Apple earbuds to a pair of Solos in the mid 2000's.) Philips Fidelio L2 (thanks kokakolia) I plan on expanding my search but I don't know where to really start with other audio companies. I also have a lack of knowledge when it comes to AMP's, electrical engineering makes no sense to me, and figuring out what AMP (if at all) I need looks absurdly complicated from a couple of guides I have read, though I may have dived into the deep end, not even the bucket analogies helped! TL;DR (a really brief summary): Looking for a pair of headphones for ~$500 including shipping and if need an AMP, this must also include a mic. I seem to prefer a warmer sound. Electrical engineering makes no sense to me. I hope I didn't go overboard with the info, and thanks for any help. Edits: #1 Bolded TL;DR section #2 Added Philips Fidelio L2 to list #3 Marked as solved #4 Fixed a capitalization error in edits list

1. Budget & Location As I live in Germany the currency would be € for me. But as I have a complete list of parts I want to use, if you want to suggest a different one you can compare both prices in your currency I guess. My Budget would be around 500€-800€ so ~ 530-860$US. 2. Aim I want to use the system for Web browsing/streaming videos (like watching netflix) and some home office but mainly for playing CIV6 (while watching sth.)/League/Skyrim/Assassins Creed/Dishonored/MMORPGS so a variety of titels with different "needs". There is no real ranking as to which game is played the most, I just have "phases" where I play league 24/7 and then suddenly Dishonored/Assassins Creed for days... 3. Monitors I got 2 Monitors which is enough for me, the main one is 1920x1080, the second one is a 1680x1050. The second one is quite old and has some problems so I might upgrade to a second 1920x1080 in the future. 4. Peripherals/Windows I have a Windows 7/10 copy for this pc which I will try to reuse, otherwhise I will have to buy Win10. All other Peripherals are already there and do not need to get bought. 5. Why are you upgrading? The PC i currently am using is from 2012 (Alienware Aurora, I was young/unexperienced and bought it because of the name) is getting older and older. Last year the graphic card (was an AMD) which could still run blackflag in medium settings died on me and I replaced it with a MSI GTX970. But since a few months I have daily Bluescreens which feature different Motherboad problemcodes, also the I7-920 @2GHz start to get to its limits. So before I go to a shop and let them diagonose my PC I might as well build a new one because any fix to the motherboad won't fix the CPU problems - Atleast I think so. After reading through some reviews + the different videos from LTT himself I created this composition: ~165€ Asus Z170-A/Pro (I am afraid of overclocking but I think about someday buying a second gtx...and the price difference to the H170 is not that big + the internet told me that the pro has a better onboardsoundchip) ~215€ I5-6500 (or the I5-6600K for 40€ more if I do end up thinking about overclocking eventually?) ~33€ Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo ( Video PC Viewers Choice) ~94€ Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 (2x8) ( Video PC Viewers Choice) ~94€ Corsair RM550x (randomly picked because its in the pc of my gf) ~82€ Phanteks Eclipse P400 S Midi Tower (Video PC Viewers Choice featured the windowed version, I don't need/want the window) ~1x18€ Corsair Air Series SP120 "High Performance Edition" ( inspired Video PC Viewers Choice) (The Eclipse comes with 2 Fans, so I would buy one, if the other two are ineffective/loud I would buy 2 more) What I will take from my old Pc: MSI GTX 970 1TB Harddrive 1 year old 250gb SSD Monitors/Peripherals So this already puts me at a cost of 708€/745€ (depending on CPU) and really at the end of my "budget", tho I do not mind expending it a bit more if I get more value out of any parts that would be replaced/changed. I would be quiet happy to hear your opinions on this composition...

So this question really extends to all PC parts, but is mostly about GPUs. I basically want to know how someone can just know any graphics card. Like if I asked someone here how good the GTX 960 is, they would already know how good it is, what games it will be capable of running, what it's compatible with, etc. How? Honestly, how can you know so many parts? Is it just from years of experience? And how can I get to a point where I can be this knowledgeable about PC parts?

Hi guys, Wanting to ask suggestions, I got the SHP9500 + boompro right now, i love em for gaming and music, i also have auditioned m50x in the past. I want to try some closed back headphones again. My budget is around US$150. I got a good deal for DT770 Pro 80 ohms for around $140 more or less in my country. Is there any better option? My preferences: nice highs (not as sharp as SHP9500), clear mids, nice soundstage & no over whelming bass. I would only plug it into my PC.

Hey guys it's me again ... Today i have some general questions about servers today. Let me jump right in: -What are servers? ( like what do they do , what are the specialties of these) -I know you can and sometimes need to hook up a server to a monitor, but how do you have like these enormous server rooms where i just see them stacked up without a single monitor? just fyi: I am still 17 years old and studying IT. I want to become a programmer in the future but currently(and prob. in the future) i still have to learn these things. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to these things so keep it fancy in chat

Greetings, first time user and poster here. Just received a computer at work, and was hoping to be able to play some old school games in my free time on it. I checked out Can You Run It and the old games like C&C, Baldurs Gate 1 &2, etc were shown to be unable to run due to the graphics card. what confused me about this is it actually showed everything in Blue, but still said it wouldn't work. Has anyone played these on an Intel 530 and it work fine? And what games will run on here with ease? I'd love to buy some of the old school RPG's off of Amazon for this, but don't want to blow the money if it won't work. Attached is a couple of photos to show just what I'm talking about. Thank You.

So I'm going to build a gaming PC (link here to see it) and I have an odd request. Could someone make a short video that has an i5 6400, where they just open pages? It doesn't have to be anything special, I just want to see how long it takes to load a few webpages like YouTube and Newegg or whatever. This is important because my laptop that I have to use takes about 15 seconds to open a browser, and 10 seconds to load up YouTube.... yeah. I know it's good for gaming, but I just need a video, idc how long, to see how it will load pages. Thanks in advance lol.

I just bought a house and I am looking to put in some surround sound speakers in both my living room and master bed room as well as a blu ray player. I would like to be able to have some way to have both sets of speakers hooked up to one box that I could choose which set of speaker are active. Also would like to know if I can hook up one blu ray player to both tvs. I know that you would only be able to use the blu ray on one tv at a time and same goes for the speakers. Is what Im asking even possible? Again, I have very little knowledge in this and anything helps. Also, if you have any advice on brands feel free to add that too. Thanks in advance.
