So I bought some Trident Z series 32 GB (4X8GB) pack model number F4-3200C16Q-32GTZKW, I was thinking I would need this much because I want to try to create content on Youtube or Twitch and have enough to give it a shot. Anyways, I was originally going to build a Kabylake computer that I was ramping up to do but with Ryzen leaks everywhere I stopped. In hopes that Ryzen would be competitive and drop prices. Well at this point I'm almost sold on Ryzen theirs just one problem... I don't even think the memory I bought will even work, This is my first time building a desktop and I'm unsure what to do at this point. Also If rumors are to believed I won't even be able to run all four sticks at 3200 Mhz anyways and I have no clue how to "Underclock" if that is even a thing and I'm nearing the end of my return policy with new egg... Assistance please. Thank you.

Hey there guys, I'm currently planning a new Z270 build, looking at spending around $4000 AUD for it. The issue I'm having, or more struggling to understand, is with the topic of PCIe lanes. I'm looking at building a system mainly for heavy CAD use and the occasional video gaming (3 x 1080p monitors). So my first choice of CPU is the 7700k, along with a Asus Maximus IX Hero motherboard and quite possibly the Nvidia 1080 ti graphics card (when it comes out). My problem is, I want to run my OS off an M.2 ssd mounted on the motherboard (Samsung 960 EVO), and then I was thinking of using another M.2 (the motherboard has 2 slots) for storage of my most used games and programs, just to get the maximum speed possible. I am struggling to understand whether this is even possible, or even worth it, from a perspective of PCIe lanes, and if so, how do you calculate this? I'm really curious as to how this is worked out, along with even if I can cram all this hardware onto this chip set, can I attach for example a PCI wireless card on top of all this? Basically I'm just looking for advice, can I stick with the build I'm looking at, or will I have to go for an AMD AM4 / Intel X99 chipset to achieve this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone, I am a new builder trying to build a desktop that I can use for recording and gaming. (Probably have heard this a million times.) But I would love some criticism on the build I am looking at. I chose the parts based on reviews, budget, and many hours of research. I am basically looking for objective views on what I have, any incompatibility issues I may have missed, and any recomendations that may work better without breaking the bank. So I've decided to upgrade my graphics card from the awful gt710 I currently have. My specs are: core i5-4460 gt710 Gigabyte h81m-s 450W psu 1TB HDD I'm looking for a decent performance, no more than 1080p resolution. I'm even fine with running games at 720p at medium settings, but I'd like that to happen after newer games come out. What I mean is, I'd like a card that has the potential to play games that comes out even a year or two later at least at 720p with medium settings. The games I would like to play are the big graphics demanding ones like the Witcher 3, Battlefield 1, Far Cry 4, Doom, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Resident evil 7, etc. I don't know if I've given the necessary info, if I'm doing this right or not, and it's my first time ever posting on a forum so please be kind. ^ω^ Also, the budget can be varied, it'd help better if you could recommend one from each price range. (Also, I prefer nvidia.) 15000 INR(Indian rupees) or below. 20000 INR or below. 25009 INR or below.

Hey guys, Sorry if I'm doing this all wrong, but I'm a bit desperate. I've just installed my new Asus Z170-A motherboard and a i5 6600K ind my Phanteks Eclipse P400S case. But for some reason, Windows won't boot on my SSD. It keeps booting to the Windows Boot Manager (I think it's called that). I've tried changing the boot priority in the BIOS, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Hi, I want to build a PC soon and I have a budget of $500. I live in the US. I wane to use this PC for gaming (CS:GO) and record it and upload it to YouTUBE. I currently am receiving a nice motherboard (I'll add a picture), CPU Cooler(Zalman and don't know what kind), i5-3750k, 420-watt power supply, and DDR3 4x4gb of ram. So I currently need the following: GPU, Monitor, Keyboard, wifi USB, SATA Storage,and case at the minimum budget, and I guess I'll need windows 10 too. The things I am receiving are from a nice friend that has a new PC so yay! <---Mother Board with some Zalman cooler thing. Hello everyone, My PSU came with some cables, and I have no idea if I am connecting them wrong, because as soon as I turn on my computer, it turns back off... and it may be my imagination, but it gives off a smell.. (not good). Relevant Hardware: -Corsair RM 650x -Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti (6GB) This is the cable (I have 2 of the same) https://postimg.org/image/5pee3g4nr/ https://postimg.org/image/g0qqw3wd3/ I had already booted my computer, and everything works flawlessly. I figured I would connect the ends both 6+2 PCI-E connectors respectively (they say PCI-E) to my GPU, and the end that says Type 4 to my PSU. Now, in regards to the 6+2 PCI-E ends, is there a particular way to connect them? Something like the main end to the right and the cable that branches off it. This is the configuration I used when I explained what's happening to my computer when it shuts off above. I really need some detailed help to know how to connect properly my GPU... Hey guys! I'll first mention if I'm in the wrong section please point me to the right one, thanks! so im trying to build a pc that's capable of 4K gaming(or 1080p at all max settings) I'm starting from scratch so everything has to be bought include peripherals ( I have a preference for clicky sounding keyboards and curved or high pixel density flat monitors doesn't matter if multimonitor or just a single setup if that helps) and I've saved about 2000$ so that's my budget , I'm solely relying on your advice because I'm fairly new to this only know as much as Linus's videos have taught me so far so take it a little easy ? Well, I few days back I bought a new system with MSI Godlike Gaming Carbon edition and Intel 6800K. I was thinking if anyone can help me overclock it. Using the MSI Command Centre, I overclocked it to 3.9(ish) GHz, with Multipliers set to 40x, Core voltage 1.27V, Base Clock 100 MHz. Can any of you just tell me the procedures of overclocking the 6800K on this motherboard? or may be give me some links to learn it from. Because Tom's Hardware is not for Noobs like me.

I'm pretty new with building PCs I just wanted to know if it's better to have 2 intakes (front and rear) with 1 exhaust (top) or front and side intake with rear exhaust? or if anybody has a better fan setup suggestions; maybe 2 exhaust and 1 intake? idk. I'd be happy to try it out. Thanks

I am looking for a new camera besides my phone (s7 edge : does decent enough) for taking photos of architectural models scaling from a few feet in size to the size of a go pro. I also will be taking photos of motorcycles and possibly interiors of buildings, for these I am use I can make do with any camera though. Usually the objects are within a 10" x 10" box however getting images of perspective are getting difficult with just a phone. I usually take images in a dark room with controlled light so low light situations or I use outdoor lighting through a window and set back drops. I am looking for recommendations. I am looking for an intermediate camera as I am not a complete novice when it comes to photography and am looking progress. Recently I have also been wanting to get into video as well so I have been trying to find something that can mix well between the two but I know there is no true compromise and I would be better served with a stand alone. That said I am curious of everyones thoughts on the Panasonic GH5 that is coming out in March. I am considering this as an option mainly for the video functions being able to do 4k at 60 would be fun to play around with however the iso only going as low as 200 worries me a bit for stills as I am not very well versed in cameras yet. I would definitely be interested in getting two separate cameras such as a Panasonic g7 for video and then another camera for photos. Before someone asks for budget I am just looking for others thoughts at the moment to get an idea of what options I have to work but I am looking at intermediate cameras nothing pro level. I also am not a fan boy of any brand btw. Any recommendations of thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hello guys, hope you all have a great start for 2017. I've been saving up money for some time now and I'm finally ready to build myself a good pc. I've been playing with computers since i was 10 years old, my first pc was a 386, and I always had a low>mid type of computer. All the games I've played worked well on medium quality with an avrage of 30-40fps, so I'm used with avrage performance. I've watched a lot a youtube videos (mainly from linus) and read all sorts of articles about how you should build a pc. I have a basic level of knowledge, but beeing my first time i'm still a bit nervous and unsure. That's why I came here for help. My purpose is to obtain a performant desktop pc, that I could use years from now. I'm looking for a smart build, without spending ridiculous ammount of money. The computer will be used for video games (the desired quality level is High, I don't aim for Ultra settings for all the games) and Adobe programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier, After Effects) because I'm a designer. I did some research for parts that would stay in my ~1700$ budget. Here are the specs: Case: NZXT S340 Razer Special Edition Procesor: i7 6700k - 40ghz Skylake Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 G1 - 6gb, DDR5, 192bit Motherboard: Asus Z170a RAM: Hyperx Predator black 16GB-DDR4-3000mhz-cl15 SSD: Intel 540S 240GB HDD: WD 1TB 7200rpm Powersource: Crosair VS650 Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 Now, I have some problems regarding the powersource, I'm not 100% sure about it. I did calculate the required power on the coolmaster website and various other, and it came up to 600w. A 650w powersource will do just fine? And the other one, I just saw the new Z2xx Asus boards and the new Kaby Lake processors. I read that the processors do not represent that big of a uppgrade in contrast with the 6700k, but i'm not that sure about the motherboard. If you have any advice or any opinion, do tell. HI, I am planning to build an 1100 USD Ryzen build and conflict in many places. A) CPU 1600x + air cooler or 1600 with stock 1600x has higher speed while 1600 provides the stock cooler, saving the price for an aftermarket air cooler B) if air cooler which one? Budget ~40USD looked at cryoH7 and 212Evo opinions? Mobo will be a B350, not sure what but something affordable 16gb DDR4 RAM 2400 (8x2) 480 GB PNY SSD >> 6gb sata + 2tb seagate HDD Case: NZXT s340 C) GPU 1060 6gb or 1070 1060 has been what I've been looking at, because of the affordability to performance, while the 1070 would boost my FPS, and would make my build ~ 1100USD , right around my budget. PSU: EVGA 500w B1 >> is this enough?

So I have my system together and am trying to overclock the Ryzen 1700 on the stock cooler (NZXT customer support is horrible and they havent sent me a AM4 bracket). I have looked at tutorials online but it seems that on my Gigabyte B350 Gaming 3 that I cannot fully tweek the CPU. When it comes to voltages, I only have three options: Dynamic Vcore(DVID), Dynamic VCORE SOC (DVID), and DRAM Voltage. I see people editing on things on the same Gigabyte board. Everything I have seen online shows settings being edited that I do not see. Odds are, Im gonna need alot of help so thanks in advance!

My name is Jon and I have always loved gaming. I am a huge console gamer and want to get into PC gaming. I took my comptia class in school but never took the test to get my cert. I understand how computers work and I've worked on them a little but I want to learn it all. I want to learn all I can and I want to get into the IT field. I'm a noob if I'm being honest. I'm about to build my first gaming pc but before i do I want to understand why one part is better than another. Basically I want your opinion, where is the best place for me to start learning. Hey, I'm looking into buying my first camera. I have used good cameras before and know a fair bit about them. I'm on a budget and was looking as the Sony DSCH400 bridge camera. I then saw that it was 0.7 fps which sounds terrible to a PC gamer like me. Is this really as bad as it sounds or is it OK...? If not, could someone suggest another good budget camera? Hey guys, I'm a bit new here. I hoped to get your advice on a couple of things I'm an aspiring 3D animator/renderer/general art person and I like doing my rendering at home, no fussing about with external render farms. Currently, I have a laptop, great for portability, not much so for hardcore rendering. I want to be able to make deadlines with overnight rendering and the like. I use CPU render engines mostly (arnold/vray), but would like to get into gpu (or at least gpu assisted cpu-) rendering. The time has come to finally invest in a solid piece of equipment but I have no clue where to start. I have a budget of around 2500 euros, which google says is about 2700 dollars of the US kind The things I know I want out of this machine are: - NO rgb gamer stuff nonsense (I'm sorry RGB lovers) - Must be/stay silent (I also do some audio stuff and I constantly struggle with that as my laptops exhausts are never ever silent) - Must have proper read-write speeds - Must actually render stuff - Must have a lot of I/O (preferably usb3.0) For the silent bit, I don't want to invest in a water cooling system, I'm simply too inexperienced with pc building to put the time and effort into such a system I'd like to have at least a gtx 1080ti in there, to stay future proof, and a solid high clockspeed/ lots of cores processor. I'm a bit stuck on the motherboard/case/SSD/HDD (maybe optane?) part, what are some viable options? I don't need a gamer-y case, just something that has nice cable management support and room for io, and preferably some filters for dust (or any other way to keep it out)\ Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone! As you can see from the title i am a first time builder. Some Info: im building this PC mainly for 3D work/ animation in Autodesk Maya, Illustrator, and After Effects. From time to time i will be using this PC to play a few games at 1440p 60 fps at medium to medium low settings. Some of these games include Outlast II and a few AAA titles. My budget for this PC was at $2,160 USD. i will also be buying these parts from the US. What i really want to know is: Are all the Parts Compatible? and Is there anything i should change to make this run better?
