Hi guys, I did one review on Lumia 830 recently. Would love some comments from people on how can I improve (e.g the way I present the review, editing, shooting). Hopefully I can get something constructive. I know Windows Phone is not something popular here and I'm not reviewing the OS itself per say but more on the hardware and how it performs. I think if we want to talk about Windows Phone itself, Linus has covered pretty much all the bases already and while I'm fan on WP (else, Microsoft Devices Malaysia won't give me this review unit  ) but whatever cons mentioned by Linus in his video is pretty much spot on.

Hey fellows, I have two old Nokia mobile phones what I have used years ago. I have a security code on both devices and I can't recall what they are. Is there any way to go bypass that security code without losing saved data inside the phone? I mean my mp3-files and photos etc. I have Nokia 3120 and Nokia 5800 Express Music. Thanks.

I have put off upgrading my portable tech for a long time now so I guess I should be asking this, What do I replace my SA2315/55 GoGear Phillips 1GB MP3 player and my Nokia 1100. Don't worry I don't need help, I have a badass PC to make up for these short-commings. The mp3 player has been great over the years I have had it but recently it has been playing up (ha! get it?) and probably needs replacing, but there are several things about it that I like that I am not sure other products have: It runs on AAA batteries (being able to replace the battery while I am on the go has been invaluable, I can take multiple batteries on bush walks or to work etc) The battery actually lasts for a while (As it has a non-colour display it is very energy efficient and lasts for at least 5 days, so while two batteries take 36 hours to charge I can still use a third, as I listen to this thing ALOT) It uses a 3.5mm jack (using nice headphones is possible) The phone was a hand me down from my parents years ago. It calls. Its texts. That is about it. The best things about it are: Battery life. (1.5 Weeks on average. Most devices nowadays only last a single day before you need to charge it. I understand this is commonplace and I don't mind getting used to this) Rugged as f#&k. (The only thing capable of taking out a Nokia... is another Nokia) Nothing else really. Needs: Ideally i'd like to be able to check emails, have high capacity up-gradable storage options for music, A 3.5mm audio jack for my headphones Replaceable battery or power-bank compatability I would like to keep the cost down but will save more if the device is worth it. So in conclusion: Is there a single device on the market that encompasses all or most of the good things about my old tech with the addition of some new features? Thanks for the help in advance, Tim

The HTC One M8 and Lumia 830 will both be coming to AT&T on November 7th, 2014. If you recall, the HTC One M8 for Windows was already available since August 19th but was exclusive to Verizon. It looks like that exclusivity is now over. When you purchase the Lumia 830 through AT&T you also get a FitBit Flex for free, which costs $99 on its own. It's good to see more Windows Phone coming to more carriers, something Microsoft needs to work on getting Windows Phones to wireless carriers much faster, especially carriers outside of the US. It will be hard for Windows Phones to be successful if its difficult for people to purchase them in the first place. Seriously, this thing looks like a broken door knob Just a Heads up: Any or All of the images might get taken down soon/early so.. if so, You haven't seen me first of all :This could possibly be an elaborate fake, but couple of sources are citing this as the real prototype image of the phone that has been leaked..Microsoft has yet to comment, Now read the rest of it.. Nope it's not the Lumia 1020 But this model Being called Lumia 1052 ,This prooves that Microsoft is still developing the Lumia line of the previous Nokia brand phones, The new alleged prototype of the phone was leaked by a chineese auction site. This Brand is boasting almost a whole aluminium body (except for some plastic lining at the bottom) The phone is running Windows Phone 8.1 with shown specs of 2GB of RAM and what appears to be a 5-inch 1080p display. The camera bump is the obvious addition here, dominating the rear of this device with its aluminum body. Peek into the system specs Seriously can someone translate the rest for me? Currently there's no news info on how powerful the camera is in this leaked prototype. While the camera is large, the device is fitted with an LED flash rather than the xenon flash found on the Lumia 1020, and the lens appears to lack a mechanical shutter Fishy text font Rumor is that this mysterious device could also be the canceled "Nokia McLaren" handset that was supposed to showcase Microsoft’s Kinect-like Windows Phone gestures. On-screen Windows Phone buttons, instead of dedicated physical buttons, this one is allegedly carrying that function if you don't know what that was, the McLaren version was supposed to support floating off-screen gestures that don’t require owners to physically touch the display. kinda like virtual 3d gestures that you can do to activate actions corresponding to it, just like a kinect from Xbox. So, to recap: Screen size : 5" Screen resolution : Full HD (1920x1080) panel unknown CPU : 4 cores (unknown) Camera : Unknown internal memory : 32gigs Operating System : Windows 8.1 Ram memory : 2 gigs Rest is just some fishy rumors Post your thoughts on this down below, if it's apparently the real thing, it's too thick & the design is just another recycled idea i think, Post your thoughts & rants & praises on it down beloooooooee.. There aren’t many surprises in the tech world at the moment, but the Nokia N1 Tablet’s arrival was completely unexpected. Since selling its phone division to Microsoft, Nokia’s new CEO had mumbled some things about not making mobile devices anymore, and many of us wrote the poor company off, relegating it to the dreary world of navigation and network infrastructure. We were judging Nokia based on its performance over the past few years. You know, rolling over for Microsoft and becoming a characterless corporate stooge. On this present day we have few major mobile platforms like Android, iOS, WP and BB. But do any of you guys actually remember Symbian? A platform that served us for years and has been abandoned my Nokia (also there is the fact that Microsoft bought and killed it.). "Symbian OS still provides the base for many tens of millions of users worldwide (e.g. numbers from "Statcounter - Global Stats"). A lot of these people have trusted Nokia as their phone provider for over 20 years. Android, Symbian's biggest competitor in mobile OS, already has open source projects and allows development and distribution all over the world, and I would like to see Symbian opened up on a similar basis, for ongoing work by professional and hobbyist programmers." "SO PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION & KEEP SYMBIAN ALIVE BEFORE IT GETS FORGOTTEN FOR DEVELOPMENT FOR MILLIONS OF SYMBIAN USERS ALL OVER THE WORLD." http://www.change.org/p/bill-gates-release-symbian-source-code-make-it-open-source-release-latest-update-builds-save-the-environment I presonally developed few stuff for this platform and if Symbian goes open-source, it would be really awesome. A platform this good should never be fogotten.

After selling their smartphone business to Microsoft, Nokia have released teasers of their new tabet, the N1. Article from BGR http://bgr.com/2014/11/18/nokia-n1-release-date-specs-android-5-0-lollipop-tablet/ Also on BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-30096603 The thing that got me interested was the USB type 3 port on the bottom. I wonder what cable they will provide with the tablet. That combined with the insane spec list makes this a very good tablet (I wonder if you could install windows on it...)

Letting it go.. With Microsoft taking over Nokia's mobile division , CEO of Nokia Enterprise Rajeev Suri announced that it will Not (possibly never) go back to mobile handset manufacturing division in the future & is setting out the strategy for its three remaining businesses. The decision was announced at an analyst meeting recently in London, Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri detailed where the company's focus will be for the next few years for its Networks unit Rajeev Suri was appointed CEO & President and Chief Executive Officer effective from May 1, 2014 , He Plans for a EUR 5 billion program to optimize its capital structure, including the Nokia Board's proposal to the Annual General Meeting 2014 for the dividend and for an authorization for the Board to repurchase shares Nokia's strategy is to develop its three businesses in order to realize its vision of being a technology leader in a connected world and, in turn, create long-term shareholder value For Technologies, licensing will remain a priority, with Nokia working on upping royalty payments as existing licensing deals expire. And, having struck patent licensing deals with many of the big handset manufacturers, Suri revealed that it would be moving on to opening discussions with mid and low-tier device companies, as well as non-phone related hardware businesses, including those making set-top boxes and digital cameras. It will also be looking to milk the parts of its patent portfolio it has not historically thought to monetise. Despite a declining number of players in the networking space, Suri predicts no easing of competition, with smaller players becoming more aggressive and IT companies increasing looking to enter the market. Through its Networks business (formerly Nokia Solutions and Networks, or NSN), Nokia will invest in the innovative products and services needed by telecoms operators to manage the increase in wireless data traffic which is more than doubling every year. Future investment will focus on further building on our strong position in mobile broadband and related services, and strengthening our leadership position in next-generation network technologies. The CEO quoted that the company has a strong financial position and the capacity to continue to make the investments necessary to remain an innovation leader in the three segments in which it competes. Nokia's continuing businesses invested more than EUR 2.5 billion in research and development in 2013. Quite sad news , since there had been rumors that suggested that they might be back on track with the mobile division, apparently not Leave you thoughts & rants down beloooooooooowwww.... "Nokia" too mainstream? According to a new blog post by Microsoft on a Nokia blog, the software giant revealed its upcoming smartphones will now be known as Microsoft Lumia , The new Microsoft branding will appear on future phones from the company, with a plain black version of the company's four-squared logo also set to make an appearance Our global and local websites are going through a transition as we speak and in the coming days our social channels will get a new name too, they will be called Microsoft Lumia said the spokesman for microsoft phone marketing .. Nokia Microsoft will continue to honor customer warranties and provide world-class care services as before Microsoft Microsoft's SVP of Marketing for Phones "Tuula Rytilä" pictured below The new nomenclature will not affect the support of current Nokia devices Although the Nokia name will no longer be used for smartphones, low-end phones the company calls out the Nokia 130 will still be sold under the banner.. Microsoft will continue to sell Nokia branded, entry-level category of phones, such as the Nokia 130. We have licensed the Nokia brand for such devices said Rytila Bonus: So what do you guys think? Just a small reminder that HERE is owned by Nokia not M$. This is the part of Nokia that was NOT bought by Microsoft. Nokia HERE Maps offers some features that even Google Maps doesn’t, which means the free software should be at least worth considering if you’re a frequent traveler. Take for example its ability to store offline maps. Unlike Google Maps, which simply caches some data, Nokia HERE gives you the ability to save entire regions, like a state, for offline turn-by-turn directions. You can even search for points-of-interest when you don’t have a connection, which means you’ll still be able to look up the location of a new restaurant while you’re riding the subway. There are also other features, like 3D renders of famous buildings, cloud storage for saved favorites – provided you’ve created an account – and more. Features list: Offline navigation: Interactive maps and turn-by-turn voice guidance are still available even without an internet connection. Maps to download and to use offline for nearly 100 countries. Public transport maps and directions for over 800 cities in over 40 countries, also when you’re offline. Live traffic info for more than 40 countries. Plan your journey on beta.here.com, then find your way there using your mobile. Personalise your map by creating Collections of your favourite places. Share your location with family and friends in real time as you go via Glympse. It’s private, secure and safe. source : http://360.here.com/2014/10/21/here-for-all-android/

I am personally excited for the One Plus One because of the Cyanogen Mod deal going on and the hyped up specs it has with it. It probably will be a all day phone with a 3000maH battery and will be very solid in the later years.

So, I was making and installing my own keyboard theme for the N9, and I wondered, how many of the people here have heard of it (N9), or used it. Personally, I think it has the best OS that's out there, and it's also damn flexible, for example, I heard that someone was hacking android for it, and i decided to try it myself. It took me roughly about three hours, but after doing it, I was a proud android user. But, everything comes at a cost, and my interest to modify the os (installing my keyboard) I managed to brick my device. No worries though, as it was just a quick re-flashing of the os, and everything was good again. So, if you own a N9, I'd like to know, what modifications have you done for it? Edit: check bold

So since, I have now a bit of cash I was wondering which would be best. I need a portable device primarely for college and everywhere outside my house. And I need something very good. So my sister has a samsung chromebook but the screen broke. Since she neede a new one asap, she bought one. But I fixed it yesterday and now I can buy her old chromebook for 100$. That's option 1. But i'm a real windows and apple fanboy. So I thought at first about and iPad, but it's way to expensive for a tablet (64gb with lte) so then I hought about the microsoft surface 2rt 32gb. Great choice imo. But I really like the amazing resolution of the ipad 2048x1536. so I'm not sure. tthe chromebook for a 100$ is a great prize I think. Now I forgot my phone in my jeans and it got washed. So I also need a new phone (on september 2014). So I'm hesitating between the nokia lumia 1020 and the iPhone 6 (I don't like anymore android but ios is a bit faster and lighter). I take a lot of pictures but I love the quick video editting you can perform on the iphone 5s, and I hope that the iPhone 6 will still have it. Eitherway, thank you for your help!

So I'm looking for a new phone and im on a budget. I've got it down to these two phones. I love listening to music and want to know which one will provide the best sound when listening to music using a good pair of headphones. I've looked around and can't seem to find anything on the sound chips for either phone. Thanks, Cody

The new Nokia Lumia 1020 is a Windows based phone that was just announced and it packs a ridiculous 41 megapixel camera. Ball bearings around the camera supposedly give the camera fantastic optical stabilization, and the camera is also supposed to take very good low light photos because it has one of the biggest, if not the biggest, sensors ever put on a phone. You can also manually adjust exposure times to make the exposure time very long or short, if you so desire. Source: http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/nokia-lumia-1020/4505-6452_7-35822762.html
