Okay so I tried GTA V the other day and noticed that the CPU temperature maxed out around 85-86 C and I thought: Enough of this, time to replace that stock cooler. I've purchased Noctua fans before and have been really impressed. Currently I'm looking at three CPU coolers wondering which would give me best performance and least amount of problems: NH-D15S -> http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=112&lng=en NH-U12S -> http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=63&lng=en NH-U9S -> http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=105&lng=en My first post here, so I guess I should post my specs as well: INTEL CORE I7 4770 3.4GHZ 8MB S-1150 ASUS Z87M-PLUS Z87 S-1150 M-ATX CORSAIR 16GB DDR3 VENGEANCE PRO RED 2400MHZ (2X8GB) GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 660 OC 2GB PCI-E DVI/HDMI/DP CORSAIR GRAPHITE 600TM BLACK SAMSUNG 840 EVO 250GB SATA SSD TLC SATA-600 2.0TB 7200RPM 64MB - SEAGATE BARRACUDA CORSAIR CX 600W M BRONZE ATX12V 2.3 MODULAR PSU Because of the M-ATX mobo I want to get a CPU cooler that wont interfer with the PCI-E slot or the RAM slots. And after checking compability on Noctuas website for the three coolers they all seem to be no problem for my Z87M-PLUS. Now the question is: Which of the three should I purchase? I'll take all the advice/opinions I can get! I should perhaps mention that I'm not planning on overclocking my system at all, ain't nobody got time for that. Thanks!

Hey guys, I got a Xeon E3-1245v3 in my homeserver which runs 24/7, the server is for virtualization where I run several vms like one as tv server, nas and download vm and a gameserver vm. It currently got the standard Silverstone fans installed and an old Scythe Samurai ZZ as CPU cooler. My room temp is currently between 25 and 28°C, so the three Western Digital Red HDDs run at 38°C idle, the CPU is at 51°C idle which isn't that bad, considering the CPU never runs at max most of the time. BUT my server is pretty noticeable when it comes to noise, so I want to put some sound insulation mats in there, but that would also raise temperatures so I also have to get some new fans and a new CPU cooler. I'm not sure if I should get the Noctua NF-S12B redux-1200 or the Noiseblocker NB-eLoop S-Series B12-2 fans, I know the eLoop fans are pretty much silent at 1000rpm, since I've got one on the CPU block of my main PC, but the Noctua are way cheaper and have a higher air throughput, but I have no idea how much noise they produce, could someone enlighten me? About the CPU cooler, I'm not really sure which one I should take, it has to be a tower cooler, since it can make use of the airflow in directly blow out the air through the back or the sides, depends on how I mount it, but the max height for CPU coolers in this case is 138mm, so I can only use a tower cooler with a 92mm fan. An alternative would be an AIO cooler, but I also don't know which one and I also had to use 92mm fans on it, since there is not enough space for a 240mm rad AND the fans together, or I would have to mount the fans on the outside to pull the air out, but that wouldn't look really nice and the server stands in my livingroom and I can't hide it, so it has to look nice. Hope someone can atleast tell me which fans are quiet but still have enough throughput to cool all the components. Edit: Alright, since noone was going to help me I now ordered some Noctua NF-S12A FLX and I hopefully won't regret it.

Hi guys, I'm building a new PC from scratch, I'm almost done, I've decided on most of the parts. Here are the specs: Intel Core i7 4790K Asus Z97 Deluxe/USB 3.1 Corsair H110 280mm AIO Liquid Cooling push/pull with noctua nf a14 Corsair Vengance 16GB 2x8 RAM Corsair 760T Black Evga 980Ti Hybrid And I know is simple and it even wont make a difference, but I don't know if the stock fan on the 980 ti hybrid is good or if I should order another nf-a14.. Because I don't live in the US.. and I want to ship it all together.. Just that silly question, thanks. I didn't know if I should post it here or in the video cards section..

I'm starting a budget build and one thing I'm researching is cooling. I've heard things like, "positive pressure", "negative pressure", "heat dissipation", etc. So guys, explain like I'm 5. What is the ideal scenario when air is coming in/out of your case? I'll go into specifics of parts and cases that I'm thinking of if it is requested.

So im on hunt for new fans for my system as its getting a little bit to hot in the case. The case is a Corsair Carbide Air 540 and my cpu cooler is a Corsair H55 liquid cooler, cooling my 4690k. The plan was accually to get some fans which would look good in my case with a orange/black motherboard and a pure black gtx 780ti from msi, but i will still need some god damn completely silent fans which will always be able to move some air (at least more than the stock case fans from Corsair) I have no certain budget (keep in mind that my motherboard is orange/black) Im looking for 3x 120mm fans optimized for airflow and 1x 120mm optimized for static pressure, while being silent NOT QUIET but silent. The companies i want fans chosen from is EK-WB, BeQuiet!, Noctua and Corsair, but im open for options Thanks

Hi folks. I need some help. I have some spare cash so going to get some new fans for my case. I need two 140mm (airflow type fans) and two 120mm (static pressure type). Was looking at the noctua redux fans because I like the way they look actually but I realised I don't understand how their models work. Can someone help me with the model names that would be best for my requirements? Thanks.

Im looking to buy some New fans for my pc. I have a budget of €20 per fan. The case im using is a air 540 And im looking for some fans in either black or some kind of orange. the fans must be ultra quiet or near silent :-)

So I'm looking into replacing the stock case and radiator fans for Noctua IndustrialPPC PWM fans. All my exhaust fans are going to be on radiators and I know those need to be pressure optimized. But the intake fans won't have much resistance to worry about what with the mesh panels of the Corsair Air 540. Will cooling or the positive air pressure in the case be negatively impacted by using pressure optimized fans as intakes as opposed to airflow fans?

I keep going back and fourth with these two fans. Can some help me out. I have a pair of Noctua Industrial NF-A14 for my Radiator. I need some case fans. Which would be better get some more Noctua 2000RPM fans or get BeQuiet Silent Wings 2 Fans(both 120mm and 140mm)? RPM is set below 1000RPM, Their going to be quiet no matter what.

So im going to buy some bequiet silent wings 2, and im gonna buy 2 sets of noctua na-src7 low noise adapters. My Question is, what does those low noise adapters do? I have had contact with noctua, but I could not get down to what those low noise adapters does, is it 5V, 7V or 12V adapters or what do they do? Help is appreciated?

Hi, i know i could probably look about and find results. But this seems easier. I'm looking for new case fans for my nzxt h440, and i know noctua are good and probably are worth the money, but are there any decent replacements. Especially that can pull and push air through the tiny air vents in my case. I am currently using the 4 stock nzxt fans and two antec truequiet 120mm fans in the top from an old build. I'm looking for, two maybe three 140mm fans for the top and rear exhaust, and another three 120mm fans for the front. Looking at these as other options: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-silverstone-air-penetrator-fluid-dynamic-bearing-fan-red-led-1500rpm-for-cases-coolers-rads http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-ek-vardar-f3-120-1850rpm-high-static-pressure-fan http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-phanteks-ph-f120mp-500-1800-rpm-black-white-premium-high-static-pressure-radiator-pwm-fan http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-thermaltake-riing-12-white-high-static-pressure-led-radiator-fan-1500-rpm-246-db-a-hydraulic-b

First of all, I apologize if this is in the wrong section but seeing as how one of the core questions relates to large air coolers I figured this was the place to start To get to the main point and avoid some of the background, feel free to scroll down to just past the specs Ok so I'm gathering information on a new build, have been for some time and I just want to go over a couple things and maybe get some reassurances before finally committing. This will be my third build so far and it has been a long time (maybe 6 years) since my last. I never have made the step into liquid cooling. Seeing as how this is a special circumstance and I won't be able to do this again for a long time again, I don't want to make any mistakes. Because of my hesitance, I am not comfortable enough to try to create my own custom water loop. I am ok with that and am fairly adamant on that subject. I am however slightly more open to maybe getting an effective AiO setup, maybe like a Nepton 280l. I am not completely sold on this though and don't know if I want to put the life of my computer in the hands of something that when it finally craps out (whether that be the next day or 4 years later), it could take any number of components with it. On the other side of the coin, I would be perfectly happy with an all air cooling solution. A good air cooler definitely holds its own with fewer drawbacks and can even run much quieter. The two main coolers I have been considering are the Noctua Dh15 and the Cryorig R1 (Ultimate preferred of course, Universal if I have to). Now of course the problems I face here are compatibility issues with ram clearance, partial obstruction of a PCIe slot, and sometimes even the case. To give a bit of information to help clear things up: Case - HAF X MOBO - Asus Maximus VII Hero GPU - GTX 980ti RAM - Up for debate depending on the cooler CPU - I7 4790k Ok finally the actual questions. I might end up overclocking slightly at some point in the future but probably not much higher than maybe 4.5 which is already close to the 4790k's turbo speed anyway. I want a cooler that can handle anything I throw at it without a sweat even if I wake up one morning and decide I'm suddenly the world's best OCer, or if I just want to increase the longevity with the lowest temps possible. Should I give in and get an AiO liquid cooler which will fit in my case, won't obstruct anything on the mobo, and arguably looks much nicer in a rig but with the known risks of liquid coolers and possibly a bit noisier...OR Should I go for a high end air cooler such as the noctua or the cryorig which run quieter, just as efficient, but with a much larger profile (and in the noctua's case, much uglier in my opinion). Given my current specs, what kind of obstructions might I be looking at in my case with the Noctua dh15 or the Cryorig R1 Ultimate? Is it worth converting to an AiO setup for the increased convenience/aesthetics? In the end I know it comes down to personal choice and I shouldn't pick something I might regret later even if it is supposedly more efficient, but any sort of information I can get to help me narrow down my choice is deeply appreciated. Thank you

So I'm getting 2 Corsair SP120s to replace the stock fans on my H100i Which ones should I choose for the best ceiling rad exhaust fan? (I plan to connect them to an NZXT touchscreen fan controller & MSI Z97-G45 mobo for software temps too if possible) AF120 Performance AF120 Quiet SP120 PWM Performance SP120 PWM Quiet SP120 Performance SP120 Quiet Here's the Amazon link for the specs of each choice: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00C249QNE (Also: Does PWM matter?) My fan knowledge is still a bit limited so any help is greatly appreciated. Edit: All fans for Enthoo Luxe build: -2 front intakes (Noctua NF-S12A x2) -2 rad ceiling exhausts (Corsair SP120 x2) -1 front low rpm ceiling exhaust (Luxe Stock 140 x1) moved forward to make room for the H100i Rad -1 rear exhaust (Luxe Stock 140 x1) I realise that seems like a lot of negative pressure, but I'll be keeping the extra front ceiling fan at the lowest rpm if I do end up keeping it up there. May even test it out on the bottom behind the HDD cage as a low rpm intake. So 2/2.5 intakes 3/3.5 exhausts.

Hi there, I recently (15 minutes ago) installed new fans in my NZXT H440 case. These were; 2 Noctua F-A14 FLX at the front of the case and 1 nf-p14s-1200 at the back replacing the stock NZXT fans that come in the case. However, I have noticed they are a bit noisy, I think it is due to them being connected to the fan hub, meaning they're running at full speed. So my question is this, are there any fan controllers you would recommend allowing me to control the fan speed? I have looked at the NZXT Grid+ and it seems decent enough. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hey Guys, So I am planning on building an HTPC and I was wondering what your opinion is for my build: Case: Silverstone Grandia GD09 (Really prefer silverstone and must have atleast one 5.25" bay) CPU: Intel i3 4160 CPU Fan: Nocuta NH-L9i Mobo: Asus Brand (maybe H97 plus but not too sure) RAM: 8gb of Corsair Memory (either 1333, 1600, 1866) PSU: 400-450W 80 Plus or 80 Plus Bronze from Corsair, Thermaltake or Seasonic SSD: 120gb Samsung 850 Evo (might be overkill, so I was wondering what recommendations you guys have) HDD: 2TB Seagate or Western Digital (most likely Seagate) Optical Drive: Samsung Blu-ray reader (full size internal) Keyboard: Really tough but I'm thinking of going logitech (most likely K400; want something that can recharge less or have incredible battery life without recharge; also not sure about trackpad vs mouse). Mouse: I might need a basic wireless mouse for my parents as they will not prefer to use the trackpad, however, if trackpad isn't worth it, then I guess I'll go with a basic wireless keyboard and mouse. No GPU as I rarely will be playing games. If I do need to play a few games, then I can easily install one afterwards. Mostly going to be used for bit streaming HD audio from Blu-ray movies, streaming videos from online, youtube, Web browsing, Linus Tech Tips. People were telling me that I can get away with a Celeron or the pentium G3258, but I'm planning on going with the i3 and see how this goes. I'm open to any other suggestions. Thanks in Advance 4321Rocket

Hi, I just get my 2 new NF-A14 PWM, I plug them in my system and test their rpm at different % with Fan Xpert +. I realize that both of the fan are making noise from the bearing or the motor (not the blade) It is very strange because my default fan in my Antec 900 where making less noise at sub 900 rpm than my new noctua the desine of the blade and the frame is good because I managed to isolate the specific sound with my shotgun mic that fill my quiet room and it is exactly at the center when I move around the blade you can hear the wind splashing in the mic but this is not the sound who annoy me because you can only hear wind when it splash into your hear/mic for the entire test the mic was at the center of the fan to escape the wind turbulence and just hear the motor or bearing noise except at the end when I said "when I pass over the blade. at under 400 rpm I have a tick tick tick and when I go above that the tick is gone, but after that I get a whoombling noise that the mic have difficulty to hear, but when I increase the rpm the mic hear it a similar whombling that is pretty close. the whoombling periodic... approximately at every 1-2 second I want to know it's a normal noise which all nf-a14 pwm make or I just get 2 bad fan from a bad batch? the recording is at this link: https://soundcloud.com/kevenbastien123/noctua-nf-a14-pwm-noise EDIT: I managed to get the whoombling in the microphone check the 5s recording at this link https://soundcloud.com/kevenbastien123/noctua-nf-a14-pwm-whoombling

I was wondering if my PC has okay to good cable management. Originally, it had god awful cable management, but I improved it as I frequently upgraded hardware. Here's a single picture: http://i.imgur.com/19NciB2.jpg(It's not the highest quality and not great lighting either, so be wary). More can be found here: http://www.overclock.net/lists/display/view/id/5978927 What do you guys think? Is it okay compared to many PCs or is it sub-par? I have many fans in my system so it is difficult to manage the cables and extensions at the top. Edit: I uncluttered much of the fan cables at the top. I cut off the annoying H80i GT pump fan-lead cable (it was unused. I do not use Corsair Link). I then elaborately routed the rad fan splitter (I use my own Noctua one) through my case and basically cleanly routed it to it's header (using only a mile of fan extensions). This got rid of much of the clutter at the top.

My case is an nzxt h440 with all stock fans i have a 2 x 120 mm corsair h100i rad on top with 2 stock fans Should i upgrade will it be beneficial any fan suggestion
