  1. Any ideas if this is possible, they sent me the wrong cooler (CCL computers) and so now I either have to get a replacement, will take like a week. Get a mounting bracket, nm-i115x about £15, or try and find a way to work around it. It is a Maximus VIII Ranger Motherboard and a Fractal design Core 2300. Any help greatly appreciated.
  2. Sorry if this is old toast, but does anyone know when the ltt noctua fans will release. I know they are on predorder and I have mine ordered, but I am curious when they will go out to ship. If in fact old toast a link would be appreciated.
  3. Hi all, I had a question about the fan configuration for my first PC build. This is an extreme 1440p gaming build that I have been planning for almost a year and so I'm pretty excited. Also, I live in Australia, hence the more expensive prices on most components. This is the build I have planned: PCPartPicker part list: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/7FNwBm CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($519.00 @ PCCaseGear) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($129.00 @ PCCaseGear) Motherboard: Asus Z170-DELUXE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($499.00 @ PCCaseGear) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($179.00 @ PCCaseGear) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($145.00 @ PCCaseGear) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB HYBRID Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($1249.00 @ PCCaseGear) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB HYBRID Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($1249.00 @ PCCaseGear) Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe ATX Full Tower Case ($209.00 @ PCCaseGear) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 1300W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($349.00 @ PCCaseGear) Optical Drive: LG BH16NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($89.00 @ PCCaseGear) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) ($149.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM 107.4 CFM 140mm Fan ($39.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM 107.4 CFM 140mm Fan ($39.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM 107.4 CFM 140mm Fan ($39.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM 107.4 CFM 140mm Fan ($39.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM 71.7 CFM 120mm Fan ($35.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM 71.7 CFM 120mm Fan ($35.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM 71.7 CFM 120mm Fan ($35.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM 71.7 CFM 120mm Fan ($35.00) Monitor: Acer XB270HU bprz 144Hz 27.0" Monitor ($1049.00) Other: Phanteks Multi Coloured led strip (2m) ($25.00) Other: CableMod E-Series G2 & P2 Cable Kit White ($115.00) Total: $6284.00 AUD. I had a few quick questions about what fans to choose for each position: 1. What are the best fans for intake and what are the best for exhaust? (airflow vs static pressure)? Based on a video by JayzTwoCents (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXAFYNE7Cl0), I'm thinking of having airflow optimised fans on exhaust and static pressure optimised for intake and on radiators. 2. Are the Noctua NF-A14 airflow optimised (flow acceleration as they call it)? 3. And are the Noctua NF-F12 static pressure optimised (focused flow as they call it)? I am planning on going for balanced or slightly positive net air pressure in the case and the following are potential configurations I'm thinking about: A.) Top: Three 140mm fans in exhaust Bottom: Two 120mm fans for intake Front: Two 120mm fans on the 980 Ti Hybrid radiators for intake Rear: One 140mm fan for exhaust B.) Top: Three 140mm fans for intake Bottom: Two 120mm fans for exhaust Front: Two 120mm fans on the 980 Ti Hybrid radiators in exhaust Rear: One 140mm fan for intake C.) Top: Two 120mm fans on the 980 Ti Hybrid radiators in exhaust. This might be hard/ impossible as I have a massive Noctua NH-D15 cooler in the way. Does anyone know if this can be done? Bottom: Two 120mm fans for intake. Front: Two 140mm fans for intake. Rear: One 140mm fan for exhaust. Could you guys provide feedback on these configurations and which one you think is better/ the best. If there are any other configurations that you can think of, I would love to hear about them. I apologise for the long post and appreciate your responses EDIT: Is there any reason not to have the fans on the GPU radiators as intake?
  4. Good morning, TL:DR Bullshit story below Christmas is coming soon again, fireplaces and heaters will be on at max again. I wont be outside that much, because you know, it's cold. And will spend a lot of free time playing games that will warm my GPU and CPU to the core. And my poor poor laptop will be having to dissipate all that heat. Christmas is a timing of giving, and I would like to give my laptop a nice present this year. So i'm buying it a cooling pad! Now my laptop is not the only one who should be happy about that, I've decided to give something back to Linus media group as well. I will be decorating my cooler in orange and black, by using some brand spanking new LTT fans Only thing, I'm missing the right cooler to do this, please help me make this early Christmas miracle come true! End of BS story Right, I want a laptop cooler that uses at least 2x 120/140mm fans. The fans have to be removable or non existent so I can put LTT Noctua-fans in. This means the cooling pad needs to have standard 4 or 3 pin connectors. Also I want the fans to be somewhat visible, it's a shame to hide them under a very dense grill. I would also like to have a fan controller on it, but it's not mandatory. And it has to be affordable on some level, not looking to spend over a $100 on the pad, I still have to pay for the LTT fans as well. Only problem is I'm not able to find a cooler that ticks all the checkboxes I just listed. does anybody know a cooler that I could use for this project? Or will I have to use a CNC machine to make this myself? My laptop is a 15.6 inch laptop but I will probably need a 17 inch compatible cooling pad for it. I've added an inspiration picture below.
  5. Hi all, I plan on building my first gaming PC in mid November. I have all the components decided except the motherboard and the case fans (and fan configuration). This is dream build that I have been researching and saving up for, for a very long time (almost a year). I live in Australia and plan on buying all my components from a retailer here called PC Case Gear, except the monitor (from Scorptec). The main usage will be gaming at 1440p ultra settings and media/ web browsing. The budget is 6350 AUD. Size of the system is not an issue (the colour theme is black/ white). Great gaming and thermal performance are the most important criteria. I would like the noise level to be low, but I'm not too fussed as I will be using headphones. This is the build I've got in mind: PCPartPicker part list: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/qbcLZL CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($519.00 @ PCCaseGear) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($129.00 @ PCCaseGear) Motherboard: Asus Z170-DELUXE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($499.00 @ PCCaseGear) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($179.00 @ PCCaseGear) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($145.00 @ PCCaseGear) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB HYBRID Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($1249.00 @ PCCaseGear) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB HYBRID Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($1249.00 @ PCCaseGear) Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe ATX Full Tower Case ($209.00 @ PCCaseGear) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 1300W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($349.00 @ PCCaseGear) Optical Drive: LG BH16NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($89.00 @ PCCaseGear) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) ($149.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000 PWM 158.5 CFM 140mm Fan ($39.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000 PWM 158.5 CFM 140mm Fan ($39.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000 PWM 158.5 CFM 140mm Fan ($39.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000 PWM 158.5 CFM 140mm Fan ($39.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-3000 PWM 109.9 CFM 120mm Fan ($35.00 @ PCCaseGear) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-3000 PWM 109.9 CFM 120mm Fan ($35.00 @ PCCaseGear) Monitor: Acer XB270HU bprz 144Hz 27.0" Monitor ($1049.00) Other: Phanteks Multi Coloured led strip (2m) ($25.00) Other: CableMod E-Series G2 & P2 Cable Kit White ($115.00) Total: $6284.00 AUD These are my main concerns/ considerations around the motherboard choice: 1. In terms of budget for the motherboard, I am happy to spend as much as about 500 AUD (around 360 USD). 2. I am new to overclocking, but definitely plan on overclocking my CPU and GPU for the performance boost. 3. It needs to be able to house both the NH-D15 cooler and the two EVGA 980 Ti Hybrid GPUs. 4. Will I be able to power all 6 case fans (4 x 140mm - 3 exhaust on top and 1 exhaust in the rear of the case; 2 x 120mm - intake on the bottom; 2 * 120mm GPU radiators intake?/ exhaust? in the front) off the motherboard? In order to do this, will I need to be buy any fan splitters (unless they are included with the motherboard) or will I need to connect some of them directly to the power supply (assuming this is possible)? Being able to control the RPM of only some of fans using software/ the motherboard is okay with me. 5. In terms of colour, I am not too fussed. Something that is majority white (ideal)/ grey/ black will do. Accents of other colors don't bother me. 6. Good on-board audio would be nice. 7. Are there any other features I need to look out for? I believe USB 3.1 or USB 3.0 headers would be nice. At the moment I am thinking the Asus Z170-DELUXE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard makes sense. I hope I haven't missed providing any information, but with these considerations in mind, could you guys recommend the best motherboard I should get? Thanks!
  6. I was thinking about replacing the 3 FN V2 120mm fans in my H440 with noctua NF-f12's for to increase intake airflow in the front of my H440. My question is how much difference in temps would this make over the stock FN V2 fans specifically in regards to cooling down my 980 Ti's in SLI. I'm currently getting temps around 83-85 Celsius which isn't terrible but I would like to knock it down 5-10 degrees if possible. The middle intake fan is directly in line with the 1st GPU that needs to be cooled and with nothing in the way that would obstruct airflow so I feel if I could get a better fan blowing cold air directly onto it the temps would improve. Would the noctua NF-f12's would be the best choice? *I know the acx 2.0 coolers do a worse job then the reference in SLI but I already went ahead with this setup * current cooling setup is 3 intake fans with stock fans in front / H100i GTX setup as exhaust on top / 140mm Corsair SP Exhausting out the back * cooling was perfect before with gpu temps never going above 70 degrees celsius. I want to know if replacing the stock intake fans would specifically help gpu temps in SLI * rest of case is cool with the cpu (i7-6700k) never going above 65 degrees overclocked to 4.7GHz *Because of its restrictive intake airflow in the front panel most people seem to suggest that air flow fans would not work as well as SP fans that work well in restrictive airflow situations. Has anyone tried to improve intake by replacing the stock fans and what results did you get?
  7. Hey there so I just bought a corsair h60 and two noctua fans these here http://tinyurl.com/omsmqon that spin at 1300 rpm I have this as my pc http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pMTNCJ this is my first water cooler should I put both noctua fans on there or is one enough? I am also trying to generate the least amount of noise possible but still have great performance and if using both fans what config should I do it in? http://tinyurl.com/nqvgwdy Thanks in advanced!
  8. Hello community of Linustechtips ! I am an newcomer and for my first topic i would like to deploy my recent problem with my Corsair H100i GTX AIO cooler ! It is not malfunction ! it is not bad or anything its just an problem i ran into customising my AIO cooler ! One day i was finishing work and i went to my local pc retailer who sells various components and i bought myself some 2x Static Pressure Noctua fans to replace the stock Corsair SP120 fans i was so happy i did all cable management perfectly and stuff so as i took off the stock sp fans i put them aside and inserted the mighty Noctuas to cool down my AIO Radiator ! This was a week ago , as i suddenly came home from work today I started my pc and wanted to play some video games like Gta V , but as I saw something VERY unusual on my windows notification area it sayd , the driver has malfunctioned , now as i found the problem came from my h100i , i reinstalled the drivers and it works BUT ! Here is the BUT , as the program controls the pump , it does not control non corsair fans ! , and i was playing gta v today and my Noctua fans stopped , I had no idea what to think if its good or bad ! as soon as they stopped they restarted ! i have no idea why they are stopping and starting ! im worried for my cpu ! i have an z97x chipset and on my motherboard near the cpu i have 2 fan headers ! one for the CPU and other called CPU OPT , i do have a cross fan cable that divides the fan headers into 2 so i can plug into my CPU OPT but will it work at 100pourcent all time or is there any program to modifiy the rpm? So the person who could save me is to help me how could i control my noctua fans on the AIO cooler ! i idle at 24 degrees and i max on gta v at 39 45 degrees
  9. Hi! I'm looking at the possibility of replacing all my fans on my case for Noctua ones due their impressive 300 rpm minimum rotation (the ones I use now start at ~600 rpm). My case is a BitFenix Ghost that has a front panel, non removable drive cages in front of the front fans and filtered front, bottom and top intakes/exhausts. I did a bit of research and I suppose that the best fan arrangement would be: NF-S12 for the back exhaust. NF-F12 for the CM 212 Evo (or possibly a round 14cm fan like the NF-P14r?) I would be putting it in a pull configuration as the RAM is too tall and it would not fit or be reeeallly tight like it's now. (The RAM heatsink is a tiny little bit bent!) What would be better for the intakes? Two 12cm or One 14cm? Probably NF-P12 x2, as they don't have a Pressure optimized dessign for the 14cm form factor... What do you think? I got it right? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  10. So i have 4 Noctua NF-F12's but my pc is a all white build... i HATE!!! the colour of the Noctua fans... i keep hearing Linus saying that they are "the best fan" soo i decided to buy some.. BUT! can i respray them using spray paint to make it a different colour!?!? will that change the performance or will it ruin it??? please tell me and if someone has done this please tell me if it changed anything Thanks.
  11. So about a year ago noctua said they would release different colored corner mounts for their fans. Are they released yet? or if not do you know any info of when they could be released? Very little info to be found on google but then again i dont know how to use google optimatly. I really need 16 red corner mounts for my 140mm linus fans to finish a pc mod by easter ------ Also do noctua have a facebook page? i was hoping they did but i couldnt find that either.
  12. I'm going for a quieter solution than the stock non-rubber (Corsair SP 120) x (3xCorsair SP 140). So recently I've been looking at the industrial NF-F12 and NF-F14 online and debating if the switch would be worth it. I have to keep in mind that I won't be able to use the rubber mount system for the front 280 radiator. To maintain positive air pressure it's either going to be a 2x SP 140 intake to a single SP 120 + SP 140 exhaust or a 3x SP 140 intake to a single SP 120 exhaust. (This solution is also including the blower style 3x gpu sli configuration.) Background info: I'm using the NZXT s340
  13. Hi, I have been planning to get Noctua's NH-D15 cooler to replace my bad, noisy, old and ineffective AIO water cooler I have had for a long time. I am planning to overclock the CPU as well so that is also why I'm getting a new cooler. But I am little worried if it will fit. I have seen people say it fits (in the case itself) but because I have to get it to a tight space, that may not be applicable in my case. So, my components that i'm worried that they will not fit are: Case: NZXT Phantom 410 MoBo: Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Ram: G.Skill RipjawsX 1866MHz 16Gb (2x 8Gb) GPU: Gigabyte Gaming G1 980 Ti I have checked that with the fans on the D15, I should have 5mm left on the case to put the side panel back on, and I could put the 2 fans on both pull so that the ram has more space. But will it be in my GPU's way? I have x16 spot only in my MoBo on the top slot so I have to keep the GPU there. So the question is will the D15 fit in my case with 2 fans on both pull or should I only use 1 or maybe even get the D15S and use that with 1 or 2 fans. Thank you!
  14. In this video there was a concern from Linus about the airflow optimization lack in the redux line. The video was uploaded in 2014, June, but have they upgarded the fans? Thanks.
  15. Hi! I am looking for a good and quiet cpu cooler for my i5 4670K. I am thinking about the Noctua NH-D15 but I want to know if its worth it, or should I go for another cooler and if yes, which one. I am currently using some cheap allinone liquid cooler but it is too loud for my liking. Thanks in advance.
  16. I recently decided to replace my CoolerMaster Cosmos II case with a Corsair Obsidian 900D. For water cooling in the Cosmos, I originally had a Swiftech H240x AIO at the top of the case with 2 Noctua 140mm fans pulling air through them. Separately, I had an external Koolance 360mm rad/pump/res combo unit sitting on my desk with lines running into the case, cooling my 2 Titan X cards (equipped with EK's full-cover blocks). Cooling performance was good, but noisy. Having that Koolance rig on my desk especially added to the cacophony. What I really wanted to do was package everything up inside the case and call it a day. As large as the Cosmos II is, it really isn't large enough to accomplish what I wanted: more and larger rads! Enter the beast from Corsair, a case that's been on the market for a few years and everyone knows about (except me, apparently, when I bought the Comos II... duh). The word "large" doesn't begin to describe it properly. "Cavernous" is probably better. Anyway, I picked up 2 480mm x 60mm AlphaCool rads, a pile of Noctua high(er) pressure 120mm fans, and a Swiftech Maelstrom V2 pump/res combo. There's a side story to the Maelstrom which I'll get to in a moment. In my inventory, I had a Swiftech 280mm radiator, which I intended to add to the loop at the bottom of the case; remember those 2 140mm Noctuas I was using at the top of the Cosmos? They'd work perfectly with the 280mm rad. I don't do "pretty" colors when it comes to my PC, form follows function. Clear tubing, and the liquid of choice: plain 'ol distilled water with a silver coil. To top it all off, a pile of Swiftech quick-disconnect ends for the tubing, rads, blocks, and res. Maelstrom aside: I actually had the Maelstrom V2 purchased and installed in my Cosmos II prior to receiving all of the other goodies. I wanted to put it through its paces in the old build by bypassing the Swiftech H240x and instead using that previously mentioned 280mm rad. I was having a ton of trouble getting the pump in the Maelstrom to start sending fluid through the circuit, and the problem is the design: the pump's intake is actually upside down. Instead of a gravity fed intake, it's a pressure (water weight) feed: the water presses itself into the intake chamber of the pump, and when there's enough pressure: up into the pump's intake. The problem: air bubbles. It's very easy for a large air bubble to form at the opening of the pump intake, thereby preventing it from pulling water from the res. You won't see the air bubble, but you'll hear the pump start to strain because it's not moving fluid. To solve this, I snagged a straw, stuck it down into the intake chamber of the res, sucked in a little distilled water, and then forced it back out. Upon doing that a few times, the air bubble popped and the pump started moving fluid. That's not all that happened. I came home from work one day to the fantastic and well-known smell of magic smoke. I ran upstairs to the office, and sure enough, the odor was coming from the PC. Oh. Shit. It took me a little while of digging, but I eventually found the problem: the pump on the Maelstrom apparently tried to pull too much juice through its SATA power cable, and it literally melted the rubber insulation off of it. The power supply did the exact right thing and immediately killed the PC's power. Best as I can tell so far: nothing else was hurt. But the stench was atrocious. What that picture is failing to show is the actual exposed copper wire. Whooooopsie. Fortunately, Swiftech replaced it without any questions asked. Anyway, on to the new build. After getting the 3 radiators and all the associated fans installed, I stopped to take a quick snap: Important to note that the 480mm rad wouldn't fit properly in the lower part of the case without first removing the bottom front fan from the case, along with the fan's bracket. So the front of my case only has 2 intake fans (replaced w/2 Noctua 120mm ones) vs 3. But that should be fine. The replacement Maelstrom finally arrived yesterday, along with my new CPU block from EK. The first thing I did with the Swiftech unit was to create a small loop between its output and one of its intakes, using the Swiftech QD ends. I filled the res with distilled water, powered it up, and had to once again do the straw trick to help prime the pump. But before too long, the water was circulating between the res' output and intake. There: primed. Time to install it. Seen below is a very bad photo of the leak testing. Bad because of the poor lighting: I was using an LED flashlight to try and illuminate the innards of the case: The fluid path is Maelstrom -> CPU -> top rad -> GPUs -> bottom rad (large) -> bottom rad (small) -> Maelstrom. I had a bunch of trouble with one of the QDs: naturally the one attached to the Maelstrom's output. It started leaking when pressure was applied but would stop when I shut the pump off. I removed the entire unit, took the QDs apart, reassembled them, and reinstalled. So far, the troublemaker is holding up as I've seen no evidence of leakage from it. If it does leak again, I'll remove it and replace it with a compression fitting. I don't want to wait for Swiftech's slow-boat-from-California order processing and shipping. So how's this all performing? I don't know yet. The rig is still sitting on the floor in my dining room, undergoing circulation and leak testing. I want 100% confidence in that before I haul it back upstairs and start connecting stuff up. I'll update the thread if folks are interested.
  17. does anyone know if those ltt orange noctua fans are still available anywhere?
  18. Hey. Im wanting to get a new computer as I am sick of hearing my fans when i leave my computer overnight to download things and stuff like that. It will be used for: video editing audio editing and recording, streaming, pod-casting general home use and study being a multi-tab beast 1080p and future 1440p gaming my first AMD building experience Parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hjJXK8 Some questions and explanations: im going to use Noctua low noise adapters on all fans it says something about a bios update in pc part picker. What is this and why? Im going to remove all hardrive cages so i should be able to fit the GPU I thought that 520w would be enough for a single GPU? I really want to stick with a fanless... It says NH-D14 but im going to use the nh-d15 but pc part picker didnt list it Budget: no real budget but wanting to keep it within reason Thanks
  19. I'm trying to set up speedfan because i just got 4 new noctua fans and would really like to have m PC as quiet as possible in the realms of safety. I have an h100i and had my NF-s12a's attached to my rad and ny NF-a14's on the front of my r4. I have the front 140 fans working on a curve but im having issues with the 120s. I decided to take the 120s and hook them up via y-splitter to the mobo since corsair link is trash. In the "fans" tab in SpeedFan i have three RPM readings (which there should only be three). One for the y-splitter to my 120s, y-splitter to the 140's, and the pump in the h100i. My 120's seem to be labeled Aux3 fan. but when i go to the "speeds" tab there isn't an Aux3 fan in there... What am i missing?
  20. I bought a new case so I could have a bit better cooling than I have in the stock Dell case I got back in September. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016R3KM4M?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 The price was right, and I like the overall design because it is simple, yet still has the optical bays... When I ordered it, the price was $84.99, but the sale must have ended overnight. What I need to know now is what kind of fans to get, and how to best set them up. In the past I just threw a few fans in whatever cheap case I bought and called it good. Those were the days of Pentium 4's and very low power GPUs, and things have changed. I switched to laptops in 2006, and this is my first proper PC since, and know that cooling is an important factor, even when not overclocking. I would like something quiet and effective, yet cheaper than the Noctua fans that Linus always seems to talk about, because I simply cannot just throw $150 worth of fans into my budget. In a perfect world, I would also like to get some lighted fans, because this case lets light through in a way that seems pretty cool (at least according to the pictures.) Any recommendations?
  21. i hope this is the correct topic, maybe it has to be moved Case: beQuiet SilentBase 600 ( i removed the bequiet purewings ) actual rig in signature TOP -> H100i GTX "stock" ( i think there was a dustfilter on top too ) FRONT -> Noctua NF A14 "FLX" ca 1200 RPM @ 18 dB + dustfilter BACK -> Noctua NF F12 "FLX" ca 1200 RPM @ 19 dB bottom -> PSU exhaust + dustfilter fan placement rig ( needs to be turned around -> 90° ) ambient temperatures are 10-15°C day, night open window 1m on the right beside the pc outside air -2°C actually idle temps GPU <30°C load sometimes up to 50-60°C with fans spinning 50-60% idle temps CPU ca 40°C load ca 60-65°C devils canyon OC runs @ 4,6ghz (didnt try to get it higher) 1. are the vents good enough for the top? because it feels like only 1 fan could exhaust and the other blows against the case 2. the only thing i can hear are the aio pump + fans 3. is there a chance to reduce the voltage for the pump so it wont run 100% when the cpu only has 50-60°C 4. should i change the fan setup in any way? back to intake or something like that? the AIO fans are connected to the pump but i'll swap it to mainboard connectors possible solution for 2. i was thinking about 2 linus-style Noctua NF F12 "PWM": 22,4dB max 1500RPM static pressure 2,61mmH2O "air rate" 93,4m³/h instead of the standard Corsair H100i GTX :37,7dB max 2500RPM static pressure 4,65 mmH2O "air rate" 70,69m³/h or would you suggest some other "silent" pressure fans sorry for the bad quality i took the pics with my old wooden sony xperia typo newer will be made with oneplus2 if necesary i could take some more pictures of the complete setup etc later when i'm home current desktop setup current desktop setup with new display ;O thanks in advance
  22. Here is my current fan setup I'm planning on: http://tinypic.com/r/mv3tvk/9 The fans I will be using are all Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM. Except the bottom one, thats the 120mm version(my case has filters where the fans are). I will be also using a Noctua NH-D15S CPU cooler with the fan that come with it. My question is, will this be a good airflow config? These noctua IPPC fans also move lots of air. (Im not too concerned about noise). What can I change with the config to improve it and keep everything cool? BTW the case I will be using is a Corsair 750D Thanks
  23. So, ive just ordered parts for my new build, just waiting for them to ship (y'know, weekends). The following specs are: CPU: Core i7 6700K Mobo: ASUS Z170 Pro Gamer GPU: x2 SLI Msi GTX 970 (both to be OC'd to 1450 MHz) RAM: 16Gb Corsair LPX DDR4 2666 MHz PSU: Corsair CS850M (Whoopsie, it was of CS model, not CX. Less inferno?) Storage #1: 128Gb ADATA SX900 SSD (taken from old build, runs flawlessly) Storage #2: Seagate 1TB HDD (7200RPM / 64Mb cache) Misc hardware: Chassis: Corsair obsidian 750D Airflow Edition Fans: 5x Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition + 2x AF120 Quiet Edition Fan-hub: NZXT GRID (10 ports, not enough mobo connectors) CPU-Cooling: Noctua NH-D15 Thermal paste: Arctic Silver 5 SLI Bridge: ASUS ROG SLI Bridge (coming w/ mobo) LED lightning: NZXT Sleeved LED Kit Cable 2M Red (because why the **** not?) If this is in the wrong thread, please do move it. This pretty much wrapps up everything im shoving together, would love some feedback on this. Thanks in advance, have a great day.
  24. Hi guys, I just bough Noctua NH-D15 too cool my i7 4770K and i mounted it in my case in pull pull configuration on both of the towers of the cooler, pulling the air to back of the case where i have one case fan as exhaust. Now the reason i did this is that the fans in push push configuration interfere with the high profile RAM (Kingston Beast in all 4 slots) and I have to put the first fan a bit up on the first tower above the RAM and it looks kinda ugly, as it is a windowed case (Define R4 from Fractal Design). So the first question is do I get anything performance wise if I run the fans in push other than pull? I kinda have the feeling i don't because the amount of air going trough both of the towers is the same in either config. Or am I in the wrong here. The temps are 40C on idle and around 65C @3900MHz when running stability test on AIDA 64. Bare in mind my room temperature is a bit high, around 30C. I didn't overclock the CPU, but I am planing to this weekend and I want to optimize the cooling as much as possible. The second question is for the ASUS ROG users. Can anyone help me with the fan curves in the AI 3 suite. I have two intake fans and one on the back as exhaust, all Fractal Design S2 fans, and now i have these two AF15 on the CPU cooler. So I would like to optimize the airflow vs the noise. The normal use of the CPU would be gaming and video rendering, so that is the biggest load on the CPU/GPU. What I am trying to ask is for some guidelines on how to setup the fan curves for best performance/low noise. Thank you all in the advance.
  25. Hello all, I have an R9 390 I'm generally very happy with, performance is brilliant, however it does tend to get a little hot; especially when playing Witcher 3. One issue is definitely that I keep my room a little warmer than normal however that doesn't really account for it; the temperatures are 51-54C at idle, 78-84C in-game. I've included a photo to show what I think the issue might be. I'm using a Noctua NH-C14 at the moment which sits right in the way of both exhaust fans and also blows hot air down onto the motherboard leaving the hot air from the GPU with no-where to go (see attached photo). I was wondering whether changing the cooler to a Kraken x61 might improve the situation by at least a few degrees, do you think it might help? I want to go dual card when the 390 starts to get overwhelmed but I'm not sure that is sensible with these temps! Any help would be much appreciated.
