http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdKd_z2_ymQ Can anyone confirm? I do have my Windows 7 disk as I legitimately bought one when it came out, this apparently removes ALL metro (charms, EVERYTHING) and bring back the COMPLETELY ORIGINAL start menu/button on Windows 7. Too good to be true?

Hey guys, yesterday I finished my upgrade build into my new NZXT Phantom 530 with new 140mm NZXT Enthusiast Fans. I reused my AeroCool Touch 2100 fan controller since I wanted to put all the fans on their lowest RPM and it served me well the past 7 month (but I unplugged/removed all the temperature sensors since they were kinda useless). But now I've run into an issue: No matter what fan speed I set on the fan controller, it always runs them at full speed (also shows full speed on the display) and one fan (on which I extended cable since it's on the sidepanel) isn't even recognised but still gets full power. Any ideas why that is? The fan on the sidepanel has it's own "limiter" attached (low, mid, high) so I guess it's regarded to that but then again shouldn't that just lower the voltage even more? Since there is absolutely no need to run the fans at full speed I shut all of them but one off - it's way too noisy with all of them on. Could the missing temp. sensors be at fault for this strange behaviour? Best regards, Trek / Alex

I was chatting away in Google's live stream chat box, and a captcha showed up. I'm fine with that. Anything to reduce spam in the chat is good. But it's soooo broken... First the visuals are completely mashed up, and I cannot put my cursor in the text box to respond. That means I cannot chat anymore! This is at 1080p, with 100% scale. *facepalm* Why Google? Why?

Hey guys, This is an annoying issue and it's kinda hard to explain so bear with me. So I'm English, but my dad lives in America, so I buy a lot of tech stuff when I'm out there, so it's cheaper. I bought my keyboard when I was there, so naturally it's in the US layout, which I actually prefer. (location of the @ is better and stuff). So I bought my keyboard and took it home to England where I plugged it into my computer and changed the input layout thing in Windows to standard US so that when I pressed the @ button, it wouldn't input the character that's there on a UK layout keyboard (" I think). You following me? Good :P So everything works fine, but I cant put a pound sterling symbol in, which I would like a fix for, but it isn't the main issue here. What seems to have happened is that there's some mode I've activated whereby, to input an apostrophe, I have to press the button then press space. This is really annoying understandably. The mode it's in appears to be optimized for people who want to put accents in really easily. If i type an apostrophe and then a C, i get this: ç I DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN. I use the apostrophe a lot because I like to have good grammar :P (ignore the emoticons, I do those as well...) I may forget once in a while but I try. Anyone have any idea how I can make it so that when I push the apostrophe button, it instantly inputs the character and doesn't wait for me to type another character to put it in and crush my hopes and dreams? Hopefully you followed. Thanks for any ideas you may have. bchampion96

I will be building a new gaming computer some time next month (4770K, 780/770) and an currently looking at a new monitor as an upgrade from my cheapo 18.5" 1366x768 monitor. I was looking through the sales on NCIX when this monitor caught my eye: http://bit.ly/18AsyG9 and I was wondering if it would be a good decision. It looked great right away, but if you look at real pictures of it the bezel is actually not that narrow. I haven't seen any reviews of it, so I figured I'd ask the forum. So, what's your opinion on the value of this monitor?

So here is my situation, I work in a computer repair shop and a client brought us their computer because of viruses. After removing the viruses the desktop will not connect to the network at all. We have about ten other computers wired and wireless that are still working. We have already tried diagnosing hardware problems, registry fixes, micro fixits, ccleaner, driver reinstalls, and winsoc fix, but no cigar. Any Ideas? Thanks.

So about 2 years ago there was quite the hype about these DAC's that somehow made your sound quality and overall audio experience so much better, you connected your headphones into it, instead of into your front panel audio on your case/mobo and it was amazing!!!!!! (Or so they claimed) My question is, to any who own a DAC or have experience with them, are the rumors true? Do I need one? If the answer to any of the above is no, then: Where do I connect my headphones, front panel audio? (Near my power button) Or at the back, straight into my motherboard I/O (Near my ethernet jack) Thanks.

Hello all, I'm having issues. Let's start with what caused the issue. We had a bad storm a few days back, and lightning struck very close to our home. Our response, was to ignore it for a while (power went out), eventually power came back, and all seemed fine. Until we noticed we didn't have any internet at all. So after further inspection, we found our router had a yellow power light, broadband light lit up, and wireless light lit up green. No amount of resetting, unplugging or anything changed it, so we called AT&T who sent us a new router. Now, we live off the beaten path, so our cellphone signal goes through a cell repeater, so we had to have internet ASAP. So I ran up to the local Best Buy, and bought a Netgear router, and modem. After fiddling with it for about an hour, I gave in, and called Netgear. After an hour phone call, they recommended I return the Modem I bought, and get a new one. Which I did, and got the same issue. I got all lights on, besides the internet light, which turned Red. My computer wasn't connecting to the modem at all, hardwired desktop btw. I gave up with the foreign technical support, and plugged the ethernet cord into my laptop. The connection worked fine, and I was able to sign into the network, and it was perfect. So I tried my desktop again, still no connection. Frustrated, and tired (it's around midnight at this point), I decided to quit working on this computer, and just play on my desktop, because I assumed the issue was with my parents tower. I got to my computer to see the same issue as my parents! No connection, and not sending anything. So, after fidding for a while, I noticed I had cell service (a hardwired connection). So I got my PowerLine adapter (one of the ones that runs signal through the wiring of the house), and plugged it into my computer. Perfect! Connected instantly. Perplexed, I went to bed. Our new AT&T Router showed up today, so assuming the issue was the Netgear router, I plugged in the AT&T one (which is Netgear too...). I got the exact same issue, Wired worked for my laptop, but neither of my desktops. I called AT&T, and after about an hour, I was told they couldn't do anything more, and they gave me a number to a company who tried to fix this stuff for a fee. So I'm reaching out to you LTT community, please help. The connections that work are: Wireless (Phones, Laptops, PS3), PowerLine Adapter, Wired to my Laptop. Connections that don't work are: Switch, Desktop run through only an Ethernet cord. The gear I bought is a Netgear DM111PSP Modem, Netgear N600 Router. Please help.

HI. I built a new system yesterday and I have this problem where all of the fans and lights inside the computer works, but my monitor don't get any signal. This happened the first time I tried booting up the system. I tried everything like restart button, power plug in and out. checked all connections inside the build. switching output from gpu, and power switch at the back. then I ate dinner and I came back and did a few more boots and it started. I installed the os and moved it upstairs. there I tried to boot and the same problem occurred. I tried plugging in and out all the stuff and then after many boots it worked. Now when I came home from school I have the same problem. Does anybody know what I can do to avoid it. My build has a amd fx 8350, a gtx 770, 8 gb of crucial ballistix tactical tracer, gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3 motherboard and corsair rm 750 power supply EDIT: I aso tried a trick I found where you unplug the power cord and hold the power button down for a minute and then boot again

Regardless if it's home made, made from someone else or re-heated fast food. Of all the things that gets reheated (and we're not even talking lazy tier microwave reheating), I have the worst luck with burger patties to the point of wanting to barf. Anyone else shares this experience with some foods being inedible after being heated back to life?

This is the build log of my new, i7 and GTX 700 series Gaming and Editing rig. My uncle very kindly payed for it, and I can say it is a beast at everything I've thrown at it. I'd like to start with an apology about the lack of pictures of the rig itself, just the separate products. This is because I spend most of my money on PC parts, not being the kind to bother buying a phone or camera. However, I hope you enjoy. It was my first time using a water cooler, my first time filling the RAM slots, first time overclocking, first time having an SSD, first time having more than one HDD. I loved it. If the Titans go down and I find myself needing a separate CUDA card or something (which I doubt) then I shall definitely also go SLI for the first time. This is going to be a kind of first look and overview of each product, instead of a review, as I've only had this PC running for three hours. There is the box for the 4930k. This is my second Haswell build (my first being a 4570 and 770, given to my uncle now). This thing is INSANE. It's huge as processors go, and it's box makes a welcome addition to my PC box collection. This is a 6-Core CPU, which doesn't help for gaming, but when I'm rendering 720p (even some 1080p) footage in Vegas Pro 12, with a lot of intense effects added, it doesn't back down. I can even render two things at once, giving two windows of Vegas 3 cores each, and half of my CUDA performance from the Titan. Rendering a 30 minutes video took me about 10 minutes for my first test, which is stupidly fast. I've got mine overclocked to 4.2Ghz, and despite the "Haswell Heat" issue, it's only hitting 70 degrees Celsius at load. I love it to pieces, and it's a nice to have a genuine reason to own one as well. I'm using a Corsair H100i 240mm all in one liquid cooler. It's awful with the standard fans, but as soon as I swapped in some SP120's, it was a dream. Quiet, good looking and effective. I have the LED coloured blue, to give my PC a slight pop on the inside. In case you haven't clocked it yet, the theme for this build is Blue and Black. Temps have been good, and whilst I wish I could have made my own loop, my clumsiness thanks to dyspraxia means that's not an option. All in all, a good option for a clumsy f**k like me. For my motherboard, I chose an ASUS P9X79 PRO ATX board. I went with this instead of a RoG or Sabertooth board because this has features that I need, and now I don't, enough fan connectors and a black and blue colour scheme. There's not much to say about motherboards, but this one looks nice, it's fairly sturdy and it's got everything I needed. 32GB of RAM. I know it seems overkill, but I do a lot of rendering, encoding and editing. I also host a server quite often (looking to buy a Xeon based server PC some point in the future), so this large amount worked for me. I have 8x4GB sticks of Corsair Vengeance, coloured blue, at 1600Mhz. The blue has a nice contrast with the black of the case insides, and looks great in the typical Corsair style. It's fast, a large amount, and it looks good. I haven't tried it's overclocking potential, but I don't really OC RAM, so there's not much point. This is my first SSD, and I can finally see what people are talking about. This thing is FAST! It holds my OS, which loads within five or six seconds of pressing the power button. It also holds my important games, and I record to it. I had to go for 250GB because of this. My recordings from DXTory end up being 20-40GB, so I needed the extra space. I have it around the back of my PC, out of site. It's nice and fast, and I'm glad I went with what most people recommend - a Samsung 840 Evo. 6000GB. It's a nice big number. I'm using two 3TB Seagate Barracudas to store everything else. They're not in RAID, but as they are technically secondary drives, they get a small performance boost from the lack of OS. Not much to talk about, but these guys were a stunningly good price for the storage space. Now I know what you're all thinking. That's not a GTX Titan. And you'd be right. That is the aftermarket GTX Titan ACX Cooler I bought from EVGA. Stupidly, they don't make one with one pre-installed. It was nice and simple to fit, and it's giving me almost 10 degrees lower temps. Here is the Titan you are more familiar with. It's stupidly fast this thing. It runs my 3 screens nicely (I only play games with one, the other two have Skype and Google or some other kind of config like that) I've been scoring at least 40FPS on Ultra with everything I've thrown at this (on 1920x1080) most of the time going much higher, to around 200-600FPS. As such, I now use VSync for every game. This card is a CUDA beast too. It cuts rendering time down a sh*t ton. I love it. This is my soundcard, the ASUS Xonar DSX. It's about £40, and very good for the price. Much better than my intergrated chip, which makes audio editing a lot easier. Highs are cleaner, lows are bassier, the mids are nice and crisp. It's good. You'll hopefully recognise this picture from the start. This is the Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl W/ Window. Wow, lots of caps. It's a beautiful case, with very simplistic designs, the window adding a slightly more "gamery" feel to the palate. I love the brushed aluminium front, and the little blue LED is one of my favourite features. But my favourite feature is the noise dampening. I've used a Define Mini, and that wasn't as quiet as this. I mean, this is literally silent. I can only hear the faintest whisper if I place my ear against the vents. And yes, my fans are spinning. It was lovely to build in, and even replacing the fans was fun. Great case, great design, suits me as a person. Win win. This picture represents my AF140's and my SP120's. Both are the quiet edition. Despite what people told me, I have found these are nice and quiet, and push a very satisfactory amount of airflow. If I hadn't gone with the windowed case, I would have grabbed Noctua's, but these are the next best thing, IMHO. The blue accent rings also really pull of my theme. Great fans, would recommend. This is my PSU, the Corsair HX850. This is the best Semi-Modular PSU I have used. It's only non modular cables are the CPU and Motherboard cables. I use a blue cable pack for the rest. It looks good, it's efficient, and it's offering me more than enough power, should I want to go with that cheeky SLI. I AM NOT REVIEWING THE OPTICAL DRIVE. I MEAN COME ON, WHO DOES THAT? IT DOES OS INSTALLATION WELL. 'NUFF SAID. So the build took me about six hours. This is because it was my first time using a water cooler, and I had to install a lot of case fans, and do some very good cable management. Overall, I'm happy with how it went. I had a slight situation with the RAM, but that was because I may have tried to put in the PCI-E slot. I was kind of drunk with excitement though, but I think we've all fallen to that. No damage done though. This thing is a beast, and I love it. It'll be a good companion throughout the rest of my school life (In Year 8/Grade 7). I want to thank you guys for all the support you gave me. Windows 8.1 is being quite nice, though I still miss 7. Thank you for reading, Jack and Melissa (the PC) signing out!

Youtube has been weird today. After exactly 9:38 into a video, I'm getting a weird bug where the video will just cut out and the video will be just a black screen. Audio is fine, but it's just a little nuisance. I have recently installed and started using Youtube Centre (or Youtube Center to you Americans) but it's not been an issue until tonight. Is Youtube doing this for anyone else? Is there a fix? (I haven't tried switching off Youtube Centre yet, I will just now).

Hello, all. Once again it's Aidan here with another hard drive related problem (a little more serious this time though). The secondary hard drive has disappeared! It doesn't show up in My Computer or Computer Management. This is a problem as it means I only have my SSD. I was going to get a new one soon but I don't have the money for it. All help is greatly appreicated. King Regards Aidan Ferguson

I'm having problem getting sound to go through the razer headset, when i connect it all the led's go up and the synapse 2.0 software that comes with it recognizes the headset. The problem is the sound still comes out through my monitor, i have tried clicking on the volume button on the bottom right in the task bar, and changed it from asus monitor to razer kraken headset. But all i get through the headset is the little tone u get when u change the volume with the slider. The sound still comes out through the monitor. Any suggestions on how to fix this? if more info is needed just post and ill get back at u asap. *EDIT* Also the Headset is USB only which is probably the problem, My Realtek HD Audio Mangager always notify's me when i connect new speakers and headsets asking me if i want to use those instead, but i dont get the notification when i plug in the Razer's

Hi there, Just got myself a new router as specified in the title. Problem is I can't connect to the internet Anyone network savy can help me out? I've updated to latest firmware, it's connected to a ISP issued modem-router combo (DSL). If I stick a cable in the modem I connect to the internet, no problem there. I can ping the modem through the new router, but if I try to ping google, I get 100% packet loss. The web-gui says I'm connected to the web, but the computer says there's no internet. WAN-ip is 0.0.0.0 if that is somehow important.

Hey all, Has anyone experienced this lately? It's really annoying. I've tried disabling all plugins and enabling them one by one but nothing seems to work. Another weird thing is that I disabled the Flash-player plugins and expected the audio to stop as well but it just keeps playing. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. -thishanTANTRUM

So I went to check news on BF4, since I haven't in a while, and saw a list of feedback for balancing they had gotten and their views on it. At first I thought "Great! They're actually listening to the community!" Nope. I was 100% wrong. Here's a list of 10 things that were brought to their attention: Nearly all of the items listed are huge balance issues, but DICE seem to think otherwise. What the hell is the point of allowing people to provide feedback if you aren't even going to listen to it? DICE has completely thrown almost all feedback out the window. I don't think that they understand that it matters far more what the majority of the players think is balanced than what DICE think is balanced. My hope for Battlefield is dwindling more and more every day. What are your thoughts on this?

Hey guys, my uncles computer started crashing or not booting a few weeks ago and since then I have it here to repair. Normally thats not a problem for me, but for some reason this one is kinda tricky. Well actually I know the reason, I have no other AM2 board to test it with and the system doesn't power on anymore at all. The system: MSI K9N NEO V1.0 2x 512MB DDR2 RAM AMD Athlon X2 (don't know the exact one - somewhere above 2GHz) Ati Radeon X1300 He has it for 4 years now and hasn't been using it very much (booted approximately 3-5 times a month and is kept in a clean environment so no dust in the case at all). Thats why I'm not so sure about my conclusion. What I've done so far: I reseated everything and powered it - no success. RAM is in the right config and worked for the past 4 years just fine. I checked the PSU and even swapped it with another working one, still no power on. I also checked the power switch and shorted the pins but that also didn't move a thing. Of course everything was unplugged except for 24pin power-brick and the power switch. The most awkward thing is that there is not a single LED glowing and even the fans don't tick like they do if there is a short somewhere and the PSU shuts down after 1 second. So my conclusion is that the MB is dead. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance! Kind regards, Trek

So I recently dug up my old laptop, and it worked. I formatted it and reinstalled windows, and everything was going fine. Until I restarted. Now it won't boot up. When I press the power button, it does not light up, the fan turns on, the disc drive moves, and the speakers pop. No image shows up on the screen. The fan doesn't ramp up to full speed for a few seconds like it normally would when the thing boots up. Instead the fan starts at a very low RPM. Here is what it sounds like when I turn it on: http://vocaroo.com/i/s1uskntD07nv I've tried removing and moving around the RAM sticks, and that wasn't the problem. I'm not really sure what's happening. I even opened it up to see if anything was damaged, and everything looks fine.
