I was trying to update to windows 11 which said I needed secure boot enabled to work. So I enabled secure boot and then after saving changes my pc wont post. (My pc was working perfectly fine before hand) I have a i5 8600 and gtx 1060 3g I have tried a bunch of trouble shooting techniques but none have worked, like taking out cmos battery waiting for a couple hours, pushing power button to drain remaining power, trying to short the jump pins, reseating my cpu gpu and ram, unplugging and replugging my drives, and taking out all peripherals and add in cards and nothing works. Please help.

For a bit of background. A friend of mine bought a used Lenovo Legion PC from one of his friends. Now due to the ongoing GPU shortage the guy didn’t sell him the graphics card (2070 Super) and pulled it out of the PC. So I have sold my friend my old GTX 770 as all he wants to play is strategy games at 1080p. But I can’t get the PC to post. I have verified that the card works in my PC so it can’t be the card right? I have even removed the CMOS battery and reinserted it after 15 minutes just in case Lenovo have something locked down in the BIOS, but this hasn’t given me a post either. I’ve done all of the obvious things like checking the power supply cables and even trying a different power supply but it all produces the same result. I have tried just one RAM stick and using RAM from my PC, nothing. Fans spin, RGB comes on for a short while, but no display output at all. Not even a BIOS splash screen. I don’t have another Graphics card to try it with. We may be able to get our hands on the original card after Christmas but I just want some advice in case there is something super obvious that I am missing. This is the first time in PC building that I’ve truly been stumped. In any case I hope you guys are having a merry christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate, if you do. Thank you for taking the time to help me out with this! FullSizeRender.mov

Ok to start off here, this type of repair (appears) to be new territory for me. I am trying to fix this HP Elitebook x360 G2 that I received that won't post. When I power it on the fan starts to spin at full RPM and someone I know said they have seen this happen before if it's having cooling issues and told me to try cleaning the fan and thermal paste and reapplying it which I did and got nothing out of it. I believe there is something wrong with the main board and I am trying to find a schematic and a boardview to figure out what the voltage should be for what and what should or shouldn't be shorted. I'm aware that that's already a very difficult task in of itself, but I gotta learn how to at some point right? I've spent quite some time trying to look and found a couple of sites that have both the schematic and boardviews but not for this computer. Anyone know where I can go to find this or know of other models that have practically the same layout that I can use that instead? If you have other ideas that could fix this I'm all ears. The computer doesn't me any kind of error code either so I'm trying to guess and check. I have a lot of experience in fixing computers but not to this level, I tend to stick to more part replacements and fixing the software side of the computers

Ok something stupid is going on, should I *really* RMA/exchange my motherboard thru Amazon? crosshair viii dark hero Wifi seqsonic 1000w 80+ gold everything else is irrelevant it seems ANYTIME I cut the power, my pc just dies. That is, a safe shutdown, off. Flip the power switch. Wait, then unplug. Do “work”. Reverse process, hit power or start on my motherboard - zero post readout. As in, nothing, not even illuminated although my MOBO is and the start button what did I do? Uh, I just put in a distro plate. Didn’t play with watercooling routes, didn’t plug in the pump, RGB, absolutely nothing. Just put the plate in, and closed the case. Deal with that project later last time this happened I panicked and removed every little bit of hardware one at a time, even replaced the cpu with an equivalent. Nothing. Left it there for a night without power (including power cable). then it turned on… this can’t be a normal situation for a $400 USD motherboard. Do I really need to… nearly unbuild/rebuild my pc and swap motherboards??? Yes I checked all the connections yada yada. Nothing changed from A to B except opening the case and placing a plate inside. That’s it sorry if I seem angry/hostile, I’m so annoyed with this. Had to be the MOBO, but ugh so much work No chassis intrusion is setup, or available for my o11 dl dynamic. I think the MOBO has the feature, if so it’s never been used/jumped/anything. Had an old server, it would go crazy if I’d open the case

Hello all, Computer specs: AMD 5900 CPU, Gigabyte Aorus x570 elite wifi motherboard, RTX 3070 GPU, 32 gigabytes ( 2 x 16 ) Corsair vengeance RAM, NZXT x53 CPU cooler. CORSAIR RM 850W PSU. So. When I first put this build together I flashed the motherboard to bios version f36, assembled the Computer, everything posted to bios correctly. That was 2 days ago. However the Computer immediately started crashing after being on for less than 2 min. I quickly realized that the cpu cooler pump was not turning on and NEVER had been. I watch my cpu temp in the bios go from 60 C to 80 C in like 30 seconds. I promptly turned the computer off and ordered a return of the NZXT cooler and a new CPU cooler which I am still waiting on the arrival of. After this it sat on my desk for about 24 hours. This is where the problems really started. The next day I got the urge to check the installation of my NZXT again. I just had to know if I was being dumb and missed something. I felt like if I didn't check again it would always haunt me. So I opened everything back up, checked all the cable connections. Bc the case I bought is absolutely horrible (never again) and my power supply is modular, this involved taking the PSU back out of the case so I could actually access the back of it where the cables connect. To check the sata cable that the nzxt has. I never found anything wrong with the install of the NZXT. But when I put it all back together to check, the computer would not post. Fan spin good. Fan speed adjusts several times after startup. No motherboard beep code. Checked all cable connections.

Trying to get an older build to POST: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 MB: Asus Prime X370-Pro RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 8GB, 3200MHz Unsure of the BIOS version on the MB, and none of the stickers on the MB correspond with any BIOS revision I can find online. What happens: MB RGB LEDs light up and cycle when MB is powered. RAM LEDs light up and CPU Cooler/PSU/Case fans spin when the power switch is pressed. No POST beep of any kind, no video output What I've tried: Remove/reseat CPU, reconnect ATX and EPS cables, remove and reinstall GPU in various PCIe slots, reseat RAM in different locations, tried different RAM DIMM in various locations, I'd check the manual, but as of writing the Asus website is down. At this point I suspect the MB is a dud but I can't be certain yet. Are there any known issues with this board I'm missing out on?

Back in March, my computer spontaneously stopped POSTing. (Specs are at the bottom.)I went into detail in this old post here, but I will sum it up. Upon powering, I get lights and fans spinning, but no display output. It power cycles every ~30 seconds. Each power cycle, the CPU, DRAM, VGA, BOOT indicator LEDs turn on, before it settles on the DRAM light. Since my previous post, I sent my motherboard back to Gigabyte. They sent it back (after a while) and said they had completed their testing. No change. I also tested more components, so I have narrowed down the issue further. Verified working with other hardware: RAM (each stick individually and both sticks together) GPU PSU Storage So I am assuming that the issue is CPU or motherboard. The fact that the motherboard is claiming a DRAM issue is making me think it is the mobo, so I am planning on buying a new board (from a different company) from Microcenter and if the problem doesn't go away I can return it. Anyone have any other ideas, suggestions, or seen something like this before? Thank you in advance. Please read things ive tried carefully before replying to this post, thank you <3 What is the problem: My hp prodesk 705 g2 sff wont post after i installed an m.2 nvme ssd attached to a pcie card and went into the boot menu and chose "normal boot" while the pc had no windows on it (probably doesnt matter what i did in the boot menu but this is an oem so who knows). The pc hasnt posted at all since. Fans spin (not super fast), lights come on on the motherboard and ssd card. No signal on screen no USB power to peripherals. What i have tried: New ram, other ram slots, reseating cpu, removing and readding hard drives and ssd, removing all power connectors and putting them back in, a graphics card (pc normally has integrated gpu from amd a10 8750), swapping screens, resetting cmos several times and once leaving it without the battery for hours, powering without cmos battery, powering without cpu and/or ram (mobo gives the beeps for error codes about ram and cpu missing but nothing comes up on screen), removed cpu fan and cooler. I do not have a separate hp psu or motherboard laying around but is there a world where neither of those are broken on my machine??? No visible damage and i didnt shock or stab anything when installing the pcie card with its ssd.

I left my pc idle for 2,5 weeks while I got it's windows-boot hard drive for external use. After that, I reinstalled the hard drive on it and after I tried booting it , it didn't post so I removed the graphics card as it tends to cause some issues from time to time because of it's drivers . I used my pc without the GPU ,booted in windows and windows told me that it needed to update with an HP firmware update . Keep in mind that this firmware update might be caused by the fact that I have been using it's hard drive for booting on an HP laptop(HP 255 G8 with radeon R5-3500U to be precise). The update took place and it took a lot of time to post so I held the power button and turned off the pc. After that it didn't ever boot again. To figure out what was going on I used the hard drive with the enclosure to boot on my laptop which was fully successful. Continuing on my pc though wasn't that fortunate. To be more precise I tried to boot it without the hard drive and it didn't post. After some trial and error (such as putting in the GPU and getting it out while using the onboard graphics) I noticed that the CPU EZ Debug Led was on. Lastly, I cleared the CMOS by hitting the button on the rear I/O and with sorting the JBAT1 jumper . Also I removed the BIOS battery for some time and put it back and still no luck. My ram stick was reseated ,still nothing. I didn't reseat my CPU as I left it as a last resort. What do you think that it might happened to my PC ? What are my possible solutions? Is it beneficial if I remove the CPU to maybe check if any pins are bent and/or to reseat it properly. Solution: I needed to update the bios on my Mobo to the latest update to support the 5000 series Ryzen CPU. Easy fix, had my 3600 from my PC and swapped it over, updated the bios (don't have q-flash on my Mobo so needed another CPU) and I was off to the races. I just built my wife her animation pc with all brand new parts, but the computer will not post, nor will it give beeps. I have tried all different configurations for the ram, yet no avail. I tried new ram that worked on my other PC but still posting that dram led on the motherboard. I pulled the cmos battery and waited 10 minutes and then plugged everything back in and still the dram light was lit up on the Mobo. I tried without a graphics card, still same issue. No post will happen and no beeps. Fans and less on the computer turn on and the led rgb on the ram sticks light up, but gives the dram led light on the Mobo. Sometimes it will flicker back to the CPU light for a split second but normally it stays on dram led. Alright so my setup is Intel i7 8700k generic aio Used to be 32gb ram now down to 16 (more on that later) msi duke gtx 1080 ti msi z370 a pro thermaltake 600w 80+ white (yikes and probs the culprit tbh) 1tb hdd wd blue 250 gb sata ssd wd green 1tb nvme sn750 wd black so i was playing monster hunter last night when suddenly the game froze badly with a horrible screeching sound, i had to force shutdown and when i boot up again it wouldnt post at all and the EZ Debug light kept cycling on DRAM, so i checked to see if somehow the ram got moved or something by a mysterious unknown entity, after a couple reseatings it turned out that my 16gigs of hyperX ram got killed in the chaos, i had 16 gigs left which are from teamforce which came with this thing when i got it since it was a prebuilt way back on 2017 i have been daily driving it with the extra kingston since january of this year but it suddenly died on me after said crash, so since i managed to get post after thst with the kingston removed i shrugged it off as a bad couple sticks. however when i tried to boot it up today it wouldnt post again and yet the error it gave was different by which i mean there were no beeps, no lights, ez debug completes its cycle, all fans spins, rgb lights up, the gpu starts spinning as it boots, but no post. terrified i took out me graphics card to plug into onboard graphics and prepare for the worst. it was bittersweet when there was still no post since i cant really get an equivalent graphics card on this market as it is. i tried down to one stick of.ram which still worked, only the boot drive (sn750), no post and no post and no post i can feel the nvme heating, all fans spins and the cpu block does get a bit warm if not hot i checked all connections and everything is plugged in correctly and fully, i took out the mobo battery and tossed it in again and resetted the cmos, the bios is up to date as far as i could tell as i said i even daily drove it for 4 years and now it just went kaboom, i had to call up.my work to let em know i cant do anything right now, i have zbrush class in two days and web programming tomorrow, its a whole mess and im in crisis best worse scenario in me head is that the psu failed and thats that second worse is it failed bringing down the cpu and mobo with it worst case even the good ol 1080ti with it and all i can do is weep not one person i know has a desktop either so.i cant double check any component im honestly at loss for words trying to figure out what imma do if i have to replace basically the entire thing if anyone knows something that i could just yet try i would be very happy to try it out also for my bad english i apologize since im from mexico

Hello. I built a new computer yesterday and I when I power it on, all the RGB lights up and the fans start spinning but nothing appears on screen. There is a little red LED which turns on labelled 'boot'. I haven't installed anything yet, and I'm not sure if a BIOS is preinstalled. So my first pc build and i have no post. i have the bare minimum hook up and still no luck What I have hooked up right now Cpu: Ryzen 5 2600 (with the included fan) Motherboard: B450-A Pro Max Ram: OLOy 8gb DDR4 3000 MHz GPU: Nvidia quadro 4500 (no integrated graphics) Power supply: ARESGAME Power Supply 500W So when I power on all the fans kick on and the EZ De-bug light for the cpu kicks on then turns off after a few seconds. I have gone through and checked and unplugged and replugged all the wires, checked hundreds of times that everything is seated right. I have ruled out my motherboard as faulty due, as just exchanged for the same it because I thought it was the issue but nothing changed. It's not the monitor as I use it for my Xbox and laptop before it died. And the Cable is brand new, bought when I bought the computer. The gpu was bought renewed from Amazon, the VGA light will sometimes turn on after the cpu light but not frequently (only started when I went to record the video). I'm going to ask a friend who has a built computer to test it. Anything else that I should be worried abou I've attached a video and photos it turning on VID_20210413_194314.mp4

I have a home server with an aorus b550 elite, which I frequently jump the power pins to start, and kill power whenever I can't shut it off from the OS. One time after I killed the power it wouldn't give any sign of life after jumping the pins, so I tried some other basic troubleshooting and then had to take to the web for another solution. I found a post about manually jumping the psu on wire with a ground wire on the 24-pin, so I gave it a shot and the motherboard finally lit up and the fans started spinning with no boot, but after shutting off the power supply and turning it back on again the motherboard instantly lit up and fans spun like before but it refuses to boot. This happens even with nothing but the 24-pin plugged in, different psus, and no cmos battery. Interestingly enough, the leds on the motherboard were originally stuck at white but after trying to flash bios with the bios flash button they changed to blue and are now stuck. I honestly have no leads on this so any help is appreciated, my only idea is to figure out how to stop it from automatically turning on so that I can try to flash bios, but I'm far from that.

Hello All, I'm running into a common trend with a lot of older boards when trying to utilize a newer GPU, in this case the RX 470. I'm currently experimenting to see if semi-modern GPUs can be used on older cheaper boards that I have laying around to do some cryptocurrency mining. I'm experimenting with 3 boards in total; however, each board has its own unique set of symptoms with the card. The basic requirement of all the boards was to have 3 PCIe slots. Here is how I will organize the post for each motherboard: The board in use and its configuration The problems associated with the board My thoughts on the matter and my approach To preface I have tried all of the following troubleshooting measures on all boards: Reseated all components and connectors (CPU, RAM, GPUs, PSU Connections) Reset the BIOS utilizing the CMOS jumper Updated the BIOS Utilized 1 GPU Alone Utilized a second PSU to power the external cards 2 and 3 Externally tested the GPUs on a more modern motherboard to make sure they were all working, all cards passed Externally tested other components to make sure they're all working Configuration 1: Components: MB: DG45ID, Chipset: G45 Express Processor: Celeron 450 RAM: 8 GB DDR2 800 MHz PSU: 500 W GPU 1: XFX RX 470 4 GB GPU 2: Gigabyte RX 470 4 GB GPU 3: Gigabyte RX 470 4 GB Problems: The motherboard makes no POST beep and puts out no display no matter which GPU I utilize in the x16 slot. It powers on for a couple seconds, turns off, and then turns back on permanently. I've also removed the PCIe x1 to x16 riser connections to no benefit. The motherboard is able to POST as when I remove the RAM, I get 3 beeps as expected. It recently had a unexpected BIOS corruption and I had to take it for repair. Following this it worked for about a day and then ran into the issue outlined above. Additionally, this board was working fine with other configurations, including a Gigabyte RX 470 before. My Thoughts: My theories have considered that somehow the BIOS doesn't recognize the card in the slot; however, this doesn't make much sense to me as online PCIe is lauded as being backwards compatible and that as long as the slot was a x16 any card should work in any motherboard with any PCIe slot generation. Also the cards worked previously. Additionally, I learned more about how PCIe lanes were managed in the old days only by the chipset present on the motherboard. Perhaps the board is running out of PCIe lanes. I could fix this by changing their config; however, I can't access the BIOS to run the x16 slot as x8 instead since there is no output. I know the chipset supports 16 PCIe lanes, so the card with no other add ins should work; however it doesn't Configuration 2: Components: MB: DQ45CB, Chipset: 82Q45 Processor: Celeron 450 RAM: 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz PSU: 500 W GPU 1: XFX RX 470 4 GB GPU 2: Gigabyte RX 470 4 GB GPU 3: Gigabyte RX 470 4 GB Problems: The motherboard makes no POST beep and puts out no display no matter which GPU I utilize in the x16 slot. It powers on for a couple seconds, turns off, and then a blinking red LED on the board flashes twice until I turn off the power. I've also removed the PCIe x1 to x16 riser connections to no benefit. The motherboard is able to POST as when I remove the RAM, I get 3 beeps as expected. I have no knowledge if the board was working before. My Thoughts: Again my thoughts run to BIOS compatibility and possibly PCIe lane use. Though I'm still confused as to why a single card doesn't put out a signal at all. Configuration 3: Components: MB: M71E Lenovo 03T6014, Chipset: H61 Express Processor: Pentium Core G840 RAM: 4 GB DDR3 1333 MHz PSU: 500 W GPU 1: XFX RX 470 4 GB GPU 2: Gigabyte RX 470 4 GB GPU 3: Gigabyte RX 470 4 GB Problems: The motherboard makes no POST beep and puts out no display unless I utilize the XFX RX 470 4 GB card in the x16 slot alone. The motherboard POSTs and boots into linux fine utilizing that card alone. Utilizing any of the Gigabyte cards results in no POST and no display whether in the x16 slot or connected via x1 to x16 riser. Additionally, plugging the cards into the PCIe risers causes while running the XFX card yields the no post and no display from the card. My Thoughts: I think that the problem may lie with the PCIe lanes in this instance and possibly with motherboard compatibility. I've seen some horror stories about these proprietary motherboards and utilizing non standard add in parts. I just wanted to try this one so it didn't end up in the trash so fast. That being said, the pentium processor has no dedicated PCIe lanes from what I can tell and the H61 express chipset only has a grand total of 6. So perhaps that's causing an issue. All that being said, feel free to focus on one or all of the issues. With all of the issues being so similar, I figured I'd just make one big post and see if the solutions provided for one would help solve the others problems. Any thought or unusual suggestion may help. There are probably some things I don't understand about older hardware going on so hopefully someone can lead me in the right direction. Honestly after days of trying to figure this out, I'm at a total loss. Thank you community!

Hi anyone reading, I have a friend who bought a ryzen 3 1200 and bought a A520M S2H mobo and I tried putting it together for him and when I noticed it wouldn't post I found out that the motherboard doesn't support the CPU but I also did read online there is a way to get them to work but in an unorthodox way but I can't find any videos that goes through the whole process of getting it to work (if it will at all) and I was hoping someone on here will know what to do or know where to send me to get it working. They don't have any other CPUs or mobo and can't afford to get a new one and we tried to return the mobo to get one that does support the CPU but the store we bought it from won't refund us the money since we opened the box and tried installing a CPU on it. Any and all help is much appreciated.

So I’ll start with a parts list! CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K MOBO: MSI Z390-A PRO 2 x 8 GB ram (Corsair vengeance lpx) GPU: GTX 970 Here’s the pcpartpicker list but the case and hard drive are different from what I have https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kTJzt8 Here’s the story the actual problem is after it if you wanna skip it lol So this all started off one night when I left my pc on overnight and I woke up and turned it off and went to work came back and turned it on and got food came back to no display! So I realized my gpu (GTX 1070 :( RIP) was not working and I plugged in my very old GTX 660 and things were fine. So after a few days of just painful frame rates on my games I decided to try the 1070 again and yea nothing worked. So this is when I think I broke everything lol :/. I’m pretty sure I unplugged the 8pin pci cable from the 1070 while it was on and the pc instantly shut off and from there is just kept turning on and off never posting. I just assumed I killed the board and bought a new board. The z930 and the CPU listed both being upgrades. NOW FOR THE PROBLEM! This motherboard has a debug light system on it and when I turn the pc on it will flash CPU then go to DRAM for a second or two then go back to CPU for a very short flash and it just repeats forever! I have tried ram in every way you could imagine. I don’t really know what else can work at this point. I even tried rebuilding it outside of the case. So if anyone has any ideas on how I can not spend money on another new motherboard and fix this issue please help!! Thanks! Let me know if you want any photos or have questions!

Welcome to hell, i mean dell. I have an Alienware Aurora R9 Prebuilt (2019) Board: Lga 1151 Icpfl Motherboard CPU: Intel I7 9700 Ram: 2x Kingston Hyperfury ddr4 8gb 2666 Mhz GPU: Nvdia GeForce 2080 super PSU: Dell HU850EF-01 850w Micron ssd Toshiba 1 TB HDD I have been having issues with cooling on this prebuilt PC as well as fan noise. Naturally I decided to case swap into a NZXT 510i case with a new cooling system. While transferring hardware, I knew the power supply had a limited cable to the main board power due to the hinge design inside the R9, so i decided to hook everything up and get measurements. When i found the measurements I wanted, i swapped everything back into my R9 case so I could game that night to find that my pc will not Post. The system DOES power on, however, it comes on and then going back off in 1/2 second intervals. Dell will not help since I lost my warranty a WEEK ago. I figured this would be a Psu, mobo issue but cannot thoroughly troubleshoot with the limited info online and Dell’s s__t customer service. Has anyone ran into this issue before, if not, then what do you recommend I do? I miss gaming

Specs: Asrock b450m pro4 Amd ryzen 5 3600 16gb corsair vengeance lpx ram 3600mhz FE 3060ti EVGA 750 GQ Two weeks ago my PC crashed (black screen) while browsing the web. After this, it entered a boot loop where it failed to post. The CPU and case fans weren't spinning, but the GPU and HDD were. I replaced all motherboard connectors, reseated motherboard in the case, tested each RAM stick individually in each slot, reseated CPU and fan, and reset CMOS. Resetting CMOS made the fans all spin up, but the PC still wouldn't boot. I have now RMA'd the motherboard, and was sent a new one (presumably because they tested and concluded my motherboard was faulty). After installing everything, the CPU fan and case fans still aren't spinning up, and the PC boot loops without posting. What could the issue be/next steps be for trouble shooting? UPDATE: CPU was dead, presumably the motherboard died and took the CPU with it, got a replacement through Amazon

Good day, I have a newly purchased Ryzen 5600x, a known working PSU (corsair 550w), cooler, new memory (16gb gskill) DDR4, SSD (samsung evo m.2), and a known working monitor, with known working HDMI. All installed in a Gigabyte B5500 DS3H which said "Ryzen 3rd gen supported" out of the box I installed a the processor, cooler, and other equipment properly. plugged power supply into wall, turned it on, and pressing the power button got me spinning fans but no display output of any sort. This was with and without a GPU. I then tried to update the BIOS using Q-flash, with nothing plugged in other than power, but I got no lights on the USB drive at all. Then, I plugged everything back in (mins the USB) and tried to boot, and now nothing works. No fans spinning, nothing. I'm out of ideas; did I brick my motherboard? UPDATE #1: Took PC to another room; re-configured my "bench". AMD Ryzen 5600x with cooler, 16gb DDR4 (gskill, 2 sticks), samsung evo m.2 500GB ssd. USB keyboard plugged into to USB port, case power button plugged in, Monitor plugged in to HDMI, and Corsair 550W PSU plugged into 20 pin and ATX 12volt. THEN plugged in USB 2.0 flash drive with BIOS to the white USB port, pressed the q-flash button, and now FINALLY i'm getting orange LED lights on both MB and USB drive. CPU fan is spinning. This is progress! UPDATE #2: After removing everything except ATX12v and 20pin power (PSU was unplugged during that time), I re-attempted to flash the bios with F13. This appeared to work. After the orange lights stopped blinking, I disconnected power, re-installed CPU + Cooler, Memory, and SSD. Removed USB. Booted machine. The power button on the case does work again, and the CPU cooler does spin. USB keyboard lights up, but no display out still UPDATE #3: Plugged in the GPU worked. I am in BIOS now!!!!
