So I'm really asking this just to confirm what I think is the problem..so. My first computer (and only one that isn't scrap) I think has bit the dust.. It started yesterday when I turned on my computer and there was no display to the monitor, which was weird. I did the old turn off and then on and it lo and behold it came on again and worked like usual. Then last night..it did the same thing..but turn on turn off didn't work. I've stripped it today doing the usual troubleshooting.I've removed the video card and only tried it with the on board graphics to no avail, removed power inputs to the mother board put them back in,no avail. Then I tried removing the ram and booting it up..and still nothing not even a post. I've tried different monitors and even different HDMI cables to see if that's the problem but all resulted in no post. As a last resort I've unplugged everything from the motherboard except the power pins, the main power header, and an HDMI to my TV..and no post. I'm going to assume the problem is with my mother hard or my CPU..but I don't have any I can swap between to confirm which one it is..so. any other suggestions for me to try(Because I'm still kinda new to troubleshooting so I might be wrong ?) to maybe get it working would be greatly appreciated :3 I was planning to upgrade this 2 year old machine soon anyways so if no one can think of anything else then it's not really a big deal I was just seeing if anyone else had a second opinion on my current paper weights or if I'm just being dumb with this and the problems obvious thank you P.S I don't think it matters too much but my specs are an i3 6100 gtx 1050 Asus H110M-A motherboard and a seasonic 430 watt bronze PSU thanks again :3

Hello to the community!! I've recently put together a new PC with all brand new parts (Budget Build). The issue that I'm having is that the system is booting up perfectly well with no errors coming from the mobo speaker or the on board issue detection lights, however I'm not getting any video... not even a post. I've seen the following on some forums and I'm struggling with it: Some Intel Z170 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaby Lake-S CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions. Does this mean that I have to find an older non Kaby Lake CPU in order to post and flash the bios? Thank you in advance to everyone for any advice. Hi, I recently ran into a problem where my PC won't POST and all I get are two different beep codes: When I try booting without RAM - rapid reoccurring short beeps, when I try booting with RAM inserted - 1 long and 3 short beeps. What I've tried so far: 1.Removed all components from the case 2. Reseated the GPU and reconnected all the cables from the PSU 3.Cleared CMOS 4.Tried booting without and with 1 stick of ram (also tried all of the DIMM slots) 5.Tried booting without the hard drive When I power on all fans are working correctly. I can't try to boot without the GPU because I don't have on board graphics. I tried to find the beep codes in my motherboard's manual, but I couldn't find it. Looked on Gigabyte's website, but it doesn't mention the code for reoccurring short beeps. This PC has served me well for a while now so I'm certain my CPU is compatible with my mobo. I've also tried using my spare pair of DDR3 sticks but got the same results. My specs: GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 270x CPU: AMD FX 8320 MOBO: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P RAM: DDR3 Hyperx fury 2x8GB 1866Mhz PSU: Cooler master 600W supply Thanks a million to anyone who tries to help me out!

Just got most of the parts for my new system (missing case and SSD) so I figured I'd put it all together on the motherboard box to make sure everything works. The system powers on fine but never posts. I've tried with no gpu and no ram. All have the same result. No beeps, no display, nada. I know the system is powering on and staying on as the GPU fans and LEDS start spinning. The CPU fan doesn't spin, but the cpu is warming up. The board doesn't switch on if there's no cpu. Specis: Asus prime z370-a i7 8700k Strix GTX 1080 16GB vengeance LPX 2400MHz Corsair RM650x The board has LEDs on it to indicate how far through post it is (CPU, RAM, VGA, BOOT) none of these light up at all. The RGB LEDS on the back of the board light up as soon as the PSU is turned on, as does the white power led on the board. Both the on board power button and shorting the pins will power it up.

Hello everybody, I have a Ryzen 5 1600 and I have heard that the faster the RAM the better the performance. I have Corsair vengeance LPX 2x4GB 3600MHz memory. So it all started with that I turend on A - XMP profile 2 since that was 3600MHz and BIOS showed it would run at 3200MHz. When booted into windows checked CPU-Z and it showed 2133MHz. Went back to BIOS to put it on XMP profile 1 which was like 2930 something MHz. If saved and restarted waited for quite some time and no post. Took put one module and tried booting again still the same (EZ debug LED) CPU and DRAM led so I turned it off without thinking. After that I thought that maybe the BIOS was getting used to it or something and maybe I have corrupted the BIOS. I sure hope I didn't. Hey all. I just completed a budget build for only running a vinyl printing/embroidering machine and light internet use. The motherboard box as well as the manufacturer said every part was compatible and no boot kit was needed. I've walked through all their steps as well as amd's and nothing has worked. I've troubleshooted in every way and i'm stuck getting this 30 second boot loop. Its super frustrating and i'm looking for any other insight yall might have. There is no post but the case lights come on and there is no cpu speaker beeps. PARTS LIST: Mobo: Asrock B450 Gaming ITX/ac Cpu: Ryzen 3 2200g APU Psu: Evga 550w Ram: Patriot Viper 2133mhz 8gb No GPU

I recently fixed my pc, about 2 months ago, after having a failing cpu and a few other problems. Everything was running smoothly until a few days ago I was playing monster hunter world and my pc froze and would no longer pass the dram test light on the motherboard. I have tested my ram, and my gpu, my cpu is new. I have attempted mem oking but this just brings me back to a solid orange light after blinking for a few minutes. I have reseated and I have tried one stick at a time, both did nothing. I also unplugged everything but the power and ram and cpu and still am receiving an unending dram light. I cannot get anything to show up on my screen and was just looking for a bit of insight on how to fix this. Edit: switched out the psu and have now been able to POST but only for a few seconds before the pc freezes or BSODs. Have tried new Motherboard, and is now power cycling, I have removed all LED’s and Extra Usbs and am still stuck with a power cycle. CPU Solid Red Light And Dram Light on slot where Ram is
sssraj2003 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I just bought a Parts to build a new computer and the parts seem to be supported and should work. Motherboard- Msi X470 Gaming Plus Processor- AMD Ryzen 5 1600 GPU- Msi Aero ITX RX 550 Ram- Patriot Viper Elite Series DDR4 8GB However once I power it on, fans spin, the CPU light lights up solid, and the slot the Ram is in, lights up. I have changed that one ram stick to all ram slots and the the PC will not post don't work. I have used a jumper to clear CMOS and Pushed the Button. I have replaced all my parts including the CPU. I have push the power connectors in so they have clicked. I have even went to a PC repair Shop and they can't find the problem. Anyway, is there a way to to fix this issue? I had this issue for over 6 months. Thanks in Advance. -
I’m building my first pc from scratch, and everything went well until I tried to see if it posts. Machine started up and I was hopefull, but then this red light lighths up. The “cpu” light lightend up a quick sec then switched. I tried with my 8GB stick Corsair Vengance LPX DDR4 2400mhz, which I know works cause I use it daily on another PC w/ i7-7700k, Z270-A mb, GTX1060, but nothing. The motherboard on this pc is a MSI B150 Mortar arctic (link). https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B150M-MORTAR-ARCTIC.html my RAM was set to XMP in my original system. Can that have caused anything? if it is my RAM, how do I know if any RAM/ what kind of RAM is compatible?

Ryzen 1600x a320m pro4 2x ddr4 8gb 2666mhz gtx 1050 a friend got himself the same system. his system was not posting, and was constantly restarting. Any ideas? (also i later noticed my friend put 2 4pin power connectors into his 8pin power connector on the motherboard may be the problem)

So recently I tried to resurrect an old system that didn't post with a GPU. Thinking it was an unstable PSU issue I ended up buying a new PSU. Still the machine doesn't post when a GPU is installed. It boots up normally with Onboard Graphics. I tested the graphics card and it works fine in my other system... Idk what's wrong here maybe the PCI slot is damaged? I only have one PCIe slot so can't verify if it's damaged... I also researched a bit and found out that if a processor is damaged (bent pins) this can be a processor issue. But since the system boots up normally with Onboard graphics and fits in well in the CPU Socket I don't think it's a damaged processor. SEND HELP! I know this or similar has been asked in other threads and other forums but I’ve had no luck with getting it to work and hoping someone has an answer. I have an NVidia GTX 1070 founders edition that I just got used. My motherboard is an Asus Crosshair v formula, not the z. I have an r9 290 that works fine with it and I decided I wanted to go for a 1070. So I got the 1070 in, placed it in the pcie the 290 had been using and powered on. I get no display, no post beep (yes speaker plugged in), and the diagnostic led on the motherboard stays lit at vga. The fans on the 1070 come on and if it sits I can feel it get warm. I’ve tried all the display ports, the dvi, and HDMI outs. I’ve tried it in other amd 990fx motherboards with same result. I brought it to a local shop and they put it in an Intel system and it works fine at least through the dvi port cause that's all they tested =\\ I have an old HIS 4670 that doesn’t require power from the psu as I only have 2 pcie rails and the 290 requires both to run so I put it in the first pcie slot and the 1070 in the third. It posts to bios with the 4670 loading a display but nothing on the 1070 display. BIOS shows both the 4670 and 1070 as being in the pcie slots they are in. I can also load into windows with the 4670 displaying, go to device manager, and get the 1070 to show up. I tried installing the latest drivers this way but on restart still no display and it shows the 1070 failed/has a problem. If I uninstall the device and then make windows detect hardware, it loads drivers for the 1070 and the displays actually start working, until I restart and then same problem. If I use windows basic driver gpuz recognizes the 1070 and shows Nvidia for subvendor but nothing like memory and clock, If I let windows install a driver or use a driver from [GeForce.com](https://GeForce.com) it does report the rest of the card specs correctly. vbios version is the same as on techpowerup except the 1e shows a 50 on gpuz but I am sure that's not important (i could be wrong) as there's only 1 bios for Nvidia 1070 FE. Things I’ve tried that I can remember: Tried in other amd 990fx mobo, even different system which was crosshair v formula-z with different psu Brought to local shop with Intel system and the card worked Used DDU in safe mode to remove all drivers Put 1070 in all Pcie slots Tried both 8 pin psu rails Reseated everything multiple times and reseated ram in different slots and 1 at a time. Also tried cpu reseat My bios is the most current version for my board and doesn’t have many of the options I’ve seen on other posts like csm, etc. The sabertooth board does have csm but I tried all configurations under that and still not working. Tried with peg/pci and pci/peg, tried with pxe on and off Fast boot off in windows but no option in bios for crosshair, on sabertooth secure boot off and fast boot off. Installed windows 8.1 on a separate ssd and used on the sabertooth board so there were no residual amd drivers. Sorry for a long post but I am at a loss why it works on an Intel system but not amd boards that it is known to work on Any help is appreciated Specs Cpu: FX8350 and FX6100 Mobo: Asus Crosshair v formula bios 1703 & Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0 bios 2901 Dram: Corsair vengeance 1333 16gb Psu: Corsair cx750m Monitors: acer s241hl x3 and I tried an old acer lcd with dvi Current gpu: xfx r9 290 dd Storage: two 250gb Samsung 850 evo ssd, one 500gb Samsung 860 evo ssd, and one 1tb WD green hdd OS: Windows 10 64bit and windows 8.1 64bit The 2 mobo and 2 os are the ones I’ve tried

SPECS : MSI X570 GAMING PLUS MOBO (Stock Bios?) AMD RYZEN 5 3600X XFX 5700XT THICC ULTRA 3 CORSAIR CX650M PSU Windows 10 64bit 32gb g.skill Ram ddr4 So, I was trying to find my fan setting in MSI dragon center (I did it before when I setup the PC and I did it when I was half awake so I was looking everywhere aimlessly..) I found a section called cpu frequency and I accidentally changed a value when reading the info buttons near a bunch of numbers. I didn't see what I changed so I went to click default and I clicked apply by accident (I kind of had a brain fart..) After that: Immediately my PC shut off. I did some googling and decided to treat this as a bad Overclock issue (I figured xpu frequency is a oc thing) and went to clear the CMOS. I turned it off, spamming the power button and reset button. Unplugged, hit the power some more and gave it 5 minutes. Unplugged the cmos battery and gave it about 10 minutes before replugging it. When it booted I clicked use Default Values as I loaded into a menu saying my cmos had been reset. I couldn't boot into windows and inside my bios settings I saw it wanted boot from my HDD not my SSD so I went and rearranged my boot order. It did boot into windows, however after about 30 seconds my PC shut off again and now it is not loading again. Do I need to clear the cmos again, and click setup rather than use default values?(Did that option just redo the accidental changes) or am I big screwed.

I have a mobo that i got from an old computer, the mobo worked fine. I changed the thermal compund and dusted the cpufan. Now the mobo wont start, it starts and stops, then it restarts and stays on without any post, with no beep or display output. I know my psu is fine, i used the same psu in my main rig, but no luck. I have tried wit a diffrent cpu, and ram, and i have made sure that my ram is ok. I have tried resetting the bios, changing cmos battery, but with no luck. I hope i can get some help with somebody that has a long experience with computer building! There are no bent pins, i did not put on thermal compund incase i needed to take off the cpu again. heres is my result: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BuUq4JESaWinAxsS5RWPpJChG8dSNF7L/view?usp=drivesdk

As the title says, my PC isn't POSTing Previously I thought it was the Motherboard and PSU so got them replaced...got the mobo replaced twice actually..order of replacement:mobo then PSU then mobo again. So I tried turning it on outside the case with bare minimum parts.. Tried turning it on with just CPU, then CPU and RAM then CPU,RAM and GPU.....here are the videos for those tries: View: https://imgur.com/a/qnDURzs Still doesnt POST. The PSU fans don't even spin when I turn it on Could it be the CPU? Hi there, the setup is a Ryzen 5 2600 on an ASUS Prime B450M-K Board with a GTX1600Supe on it. The PC was newly build and installed. All well. Windows 10 Updates were installed. While the updates were installed, the system asked for a reboot. During the reboot, when the PC is really booting new, I turned it of as I had to leave. After about 30mins I turned it on again to let it doing the final tasks for the updates. But it shows nothing since then. No POST screen, no HDD led flickering. Nothing. Even the fans are running on full speed and are not slowing down. Even the power LED of the case is not lit. I already removed the battery and shorted the "Clear RTC RAM" jumper on the board. But nothing. No Post, no nothing, but only running fans and an blinking RGB LEDs on the case/fans. Do you have any idea on how to get this running again? I really got stuck here. Thanks in advance. Greetings Axel

My pc spec's: Cpu: Core 2 duo e6500 Ram: 4gb Mobo: esonic g41cdl2 Psu: 500w (12v-16A) I just bought a used gtx 750 and hooked in up on my pc(i was using GeForce 210). First few times it booted and display showed up but after a few moments screen got gray ( i thought i did because of msi afterburner i overclocked my past gpu GeForce 210) and i had to restart (driver wasn't installed). After 3 times it wont post anymore fan still spins but i think is spins a bit slow.idk why i have tried some things with my other gpu so i know : 1)my pci slot is working. 2)dvi to vga converter is working. 3)disabling intergraded graphics doesn't do anything. 4)i have cmos battery removed for a few minutes. After a fresh windows installation still no post. But twice i saw my monitor power led turd blue(it turns blue if it gets some kind of signal otherwise it stays orange) But nothing shows up. So the gpu is dead or i need a better psu.

Hi everyone First of all thank you for taking the time to read this post. I have just received my 2nd replacement motherboard (msi b450i) and replacement cpu (ryzen 5 3600). Long story short my mobo is not showing any sign that its receiving power, no fan spins, no leds, no debug leds and this was the case of the first board I have received as well. My specs are as follow: Msi b450i Ryzen 5 3600 Corsair rgb pro 3200 mhz 16gb RAM Bequiet sfx l 500w psu Gigabytes geforce 1660 Nzxt h210i Crucial ssd 500gb What I have done to troubleshoot (I have a working i7 second computer to test some components with): - tested the PSU on my second computer which works perfectly. I also tested my new build with my current working PSU which still results in no sign of life - tested the two ram sticks on my other computer and also tried my old corsair lpx pair - breadboarded and resetted cmos. Also tried to short the power with screwdriver. And tried to power on with my working fractal design meshify c case - replaced cpu with another brand new ryzen 5 3600 - tried one ram stick, on each slot. Tried bootung without gpu, without cpu... no sign of life. Have I received a defected second board? What are the chances of that... then to top it off, I had requested scan.co.uk (my retailer) to upgrade the bios for this board to be compatible for ryzen 5 3600k. Which means this board must have worked at their warehouse. EDIT: I called in to my retailer and they found out that they have forgotten to upgrade my BIOS before sending the board. My question is now would a MSI b450i show no sign of life without CPU / or an incompatible CPU - in this case a ryzen 5 3600? I'm getting no debug LEDs on this board... Please help me, Im so stressed out because of this. Thank you!

So I was changing PSU for new and in same time was decided to clean PC as every time and then. So, of course I unplugged every cord (all USB, RJ45 etc.) to get it right and unobstructed. Plug everything back power on and Zoinks, my PC stop before BIOS post! There was only that little underscore thingy, show up in the left corner, like before every post in every BIOS - I guess. So reset - same result! All stuff inside plugged well triple-checked - stil no post! I unplugged every USB, even M & K and restart - everything working well! So I started plunging stuff in and restarting and it turns out it is a Creative Omni 5.1 (external sound card - DAC). Without it everything works well. With it - no post! And the search of the problem begins: I tried every USB port on Mobo, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, 3.1 gen2 - Nothing, still no post when plugged in. Reset bios to default - Nothing. BIOS USB Legacy settings - Nothing! UEFI / Legacy boot - Nothing! Turned on/off sound card on Mobo (Realtek) in BIOS - Nothing! I have no more ideas so far, and start loosing my mind I have to unplug it and plug it in back every time I turn on my PC :| It is a Creative Omni 5.1 plugged in MSI B450M Mortar with 1.D0 (AGESA 1.0.0.4) BIOS. Does anyone experience anything like that, or have some ideas what to do - except throw away that Creative device trough the window Thanks in advance for any ideas and suggestions!!!

So, I changed my mobo and installed a new one, my pc booted up normally the first time, although it took some time because the dram error light was on, but after a couple of minutes the fans went to low speed, restarted and booted normally. Everything was working fine. I left my brother play on the PC, and after he exited the game he said he left the pc to download some things. When he went back after a while the pc was turned off but powered on when he clicked the mouse (so it was in something like a sleep mode or something ), only that it didn't post this time. Specs: Mobo: GIGABYTE B450 Aorus Pro CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 GPU: MSI Radeon RX 570 8GB OC RAM: 1 stick Corsair LPX 8GB Storage: Western Digital Blue 1TB 7200rpm PSU: Corsair CX 550 I've tried: Reseating the ram, changing ram slots and resetting the bios through the jumper pins. Nothing works. The red DRAM error light stays on, interrupted by a brief flash of the yellow CPU error light once every a couple of minutes or so. Thanks in advance!

Hey, after a few days of running fine, my computer suddenly stopped working. After I tried to reboot into Bios, the computer just wouldn't even boot anymore. I've tried like everything what guides say would maybe work (restick ram, reset cmos and so on and so on.) Only thing I didn't do yet was replacing the cpu. Meanwhile I've got the whole thing built out of the case, and tried running it on the box (maybe I'd get lucky again with it). The weird thing about it is, that the debug cycle just stops after the CPU Check. The CPU LED just blinks for a second as it would work, and then turns off. But sadly no other debug LED will blink, they'll stay completely dead. After these few days, I also had some issues with booting. It was from time to time very slow, so that the signal came pretty late on the monitor or even on the usb devices. So do you think the Mobo is already dead? Or can I try anything else. It's still in the return window, but I kinda wanna fix this, if it's possible. Maybe you got some advices or experiences! Feel free to ask anything, if you didn't understand sth. correctly My build: MOBO: MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: RX 5700 XT Sapphire Pulse 8gb PSU: 600 Watt BeQuiet Pure Power 11 RAM: 16GB 3200 Mhz Ballistix RAM SSD: Some 1tb Crucial m.2 Case: BeQuiet Pure Base 600

Hi there! I'm new to the forum, but have searched through the troubleshooting section and haven't found something that will resolve my issue. I've just finished my first build, hit the power on button and nothing happened. Nothing to display, no case or CPU cooler fan spinning, no sounds or beeps, nothing! Configuration (all bought new, apart from GPU): CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Mobo: MSI B450M PRO VDH-MAX RAM: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 Mhz GPU: Gigabyte Windforce GTX 950 2GB PSU: Thermaltake TR2 S 500W 80+ SSD: Curcial MX500 Troubleshooting steps: - Disconnected all cables and reconnected, no change - Disconnected front panel connectors and tried to turn on by shorting the power + and - with screwdriver, no change - Disconnected all power connectors and used the paperclip trick in the 24pin connector, the PSU did turn on and it's fan started wiring, so I'm inclined to believe the PSU is working. - Disconnected everything apart from the CPU and cooler, removed the mobo from the case, reconnected the 24 pin mobo connector and 8 pin CPU connector and tried to turn on with screwdriver in FP connectors. Still nothing - the CPU cooler fan did not move at all. So since the PSU seems to be working and, even when stripping down to just CPU, it wouldn't turn on, I'm inclined to believe it's most likely a problem with the motherboard, and then, if not, the CPU. During the build, I did have some difficulty with installing the stock Wraith cooler and at one point, the CPU came clean out of the socket attached to the cooler with the thermal pad. But, as I said, it came clean out and I had a good look at the bottom and no pins seemed bent and I was able to reinstall it easily. To get the cooler screwed in, I had to use a bit more force than I was comfortable with, but the motherboard didn't appear to bend or warp much at all. Also, as a side note, I was careful with ESD and wore a wrist strap throughout. No component was dropped, or no screwdriver through the mobo etc etc. Are there any additional troubleshooting steps anyone can suggest, or any alternative diagnosis? I have no other parts at all to try and test with, and currently I'm thinking that the mobo was DOA and will request a refund. Thanks in advance!
