  1. Hey, I've done a lot of research and I think I've finally come to a conclusion for my second build. I don't have a GPU in the build yet but I'll probably be getting a 1070ti or a 1080. I do gfx, stream, and a little bit of video editing. I was thinking about the i7-7700K but from what i've seen, the i5-8600K is incredible for the price. Also, apparently it's better for temps to put the radiator on the front.according to : But I also am trying to think how the air would best flow. I'm currently thinking about having 4 fans in my build (Not counting the aio), with the bottom fan for intake. I'm trying to see what I can do for the top two fans/the back one, airflow wise. Other than that, how's the build and what should I change in it and do for the fans. Thanks I'll also link a photo with a quick drawing of how it's set to be configured. Here is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/kcout0/saved/h9XD8d Here is the fan compatibility for my case (Meshify C): Cooling System: Top: 2x 120/140mm Fan Vents (Fans not included) Front: 3x 120 or 2x 140mm Fan Vents (1x Dynamic X2GP12 Fan is included) Rear: 1x 120mm Fan (1x Dynamic X2GP12 Fan) Bottom: 1x 120mm Fan Vent (Fan not included) Dust filters: Bottom fan + PSU Front fans Top panel Radiator: Front: 120/240/360mm 140/280mm Top: 120/240mm (max component height on motherboard 40mm) Rear: 120mm (max width 125mm)
  2. I am looking to get a new PC soon. I need it to be comfortable with mid- to high-end gaming (at least medium settings in games like War Thunder and Fallout 4), but ALSO be competent at photo editing (e.g. Adobe Photoshop Express). Also I want to pair it with a Gigabyte A320M-52H rev.1.0 motherboard, a Geforce GTX 1050 2GB GPU, a stick of 8GB DDR4 RAM (is Mushkin OK for that?) and a EVGA 600W PSU. My main question is about the processor, but I would love to hear your opinions on my choice of components as well. Thanks a bunch in advance!
  3. Hey, I am currently in the process of planning my first proper build and was looking for some advice/recommendations. In the past Ihave tinkered with systems I have bought second hand but i have have the cash to build one of my own. I do a lot of work in Photoshop and Lightroom as well as a large amount of gaming and a bit of 3d work. After spending numerous hours watching videos and reading forum posts I have come up with this list. I'm really hoping this build is going to last me a number of years! intel i7 8700k asus strix z370-e noctua dh-15 corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3000 asus strix Rog gtx1080 samsung 960 evo 250gb m.2 seagate barracuda 2tb bequiet! dark base 700 bequiet! straight power 11 850w Thank you to anyone that is able to help
  4. Hey everyone, I have recently finished building my first pc and I was hoping to get some feedback and recommendations for upgrading. Apart from the SSD I have built my pc completely from secondhand/used parts. Overall I have maybe spent $650 Nzd on everything. My pc contains: Intel i5-6400 2.7ghz (still using the stock cooler currently) Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H 8gb (2x4gb) Hyperx Fury DDR4 2133mhz EVGA 660ti 2gb San Disk plus 120gb SSD (OS) 500gb seagate HDD (games) 2 Tb seagate HDD (other files, media, etc) EVGA supernova g3 750W PSU (is overkill but was crazy cheap)) 2X Coolermaster AB 120mm fans 1x Corsair 120mm fan Corsair carbide 88r mATX case I mainly use it for casual gaming and watching twitch/youtube, occasionally using Rstudio and excel when needed. I am currently using two 1440x900 resolution monitors and can play games at 60fps on one while watching twitch on the other but am considering investing in some cheap 1080 monitors and one of the things I was wondering was if it would even be worth upgrading to something like a 1050 or would it be better to save up a little more and get a 1060 etc.. Any other feedback/eventual upgrade ideas would be greatly appreciated A picture of my rig is included below.
  5. hey im looking for a new pc for gaming and i cant deside about theese 2 builds im relly new 2 pc builds so would like your help the one whit picktures is 2000$ and the one without is 1000$
  6. Hello, I just recently did a build on my first pc, and i came across an issue. When i tried to install the win 10 after installation my pc wont boot the win10 it just goes back to black screen and only option is F1 which makes you go back to the Bios. I tried to install it to my M.2 drive. The process goes all the way to the auto restart. HHD: WD BLACK 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA3 SSD: WD Black 256GB M.2 SSD DDR4: 16gb Klevv Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F Processor: RYZEN 5 1600X Graphics card: Msi gtx 980 Ti Processor cooler: Corsair H100i Hybrid
  7. Hi so I was wondering if you guys could help me find a server that I can easily upgrade (hard drives and maybe CPU and ram). I'm looking for something that I can connect to my home network and have my PC's backup to them but to also run my Plex media server all at the same time. I have about 12 difference devices on my Plex and the computers backing up so I would like something with 10 gb/s Ethernet or be easily upgraded (upgrade to 10gb/s cost included) I dont need anything too crazy for the CPU only something like a 4-6 core like 2.5-3.5 ghz would be fine and possibly 8-16 gb of memory i would love something that i could maybe do a raid on but not necessary. talking about hard drive Im thinking about 8-10 tb for now but not all the drive bays filled up I would say about 6-8 bays and 4-6 bays filled and then have a SSD for boot nothing bigger than 240gb. I would also like to run some VM machine using VM box to test updates for my other devices to make sure it wont break them.
  8. Hi, I posted earlier about a build with intel based systems, but changed to amd with a clearer cooling system, but I would love some feedback. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Vvendetta/saved/#view=Nw6f8d The gpu is already bought, and I also have a Samsung evo 850 250gb ssd bought as well. Thanks
  9. Hi, could anyone give my build a quick look and comment on what they think? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Vvendetta/saved/ I already have the gpu purchased, and already have the SSD. Thanks
  10. would this power supply off of amazon work on my set up https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3OAFHD/ref=twister_B01G69E69E?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 MY SETUP:https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WMwFTB
  11. I'm building a new pc for 4k gaming and heavy CAD work. and might get into a little video editing. Anyway, i have a basic idea of what I want and i have chosen a few parts but i need help deciding the case, cooler, and PSU. I initially was gonna go with 1070 sli but decided to do 1080ti since solidworks doesn't support SLI and even premiere pro doesn't use a second graphics card while editing. These are the parts I have chosen so far but am more than willing to make any changes. https://in.pcpartpicker.com/list/QXTRBb
  12. So i am thinking to bulid a new PC with Coolermaster Masterbox 5 lite RGB and a MSI B350 Gaming Pro Carbon. The motherboard comes with one RGB header but i am switching the rear fan to a ML120L RGB. In total, i will have 5 RGB cables to be connect but there is only a 1-to-3 RGB Splitter Cable inculded. Can i buy one more 1-to-3 RGB Splitter Cable and connect it to the first one?
  13. I was going to purchased a prebuilt but ran into issues with them so I decided to build a new PC. Since it's a long time since I built a PC I want to make sure that I picked out parts that go together. I would like to build a computer for gaming and a little bit of photo editing. This computer is going to have to last me a long time so I'm hoping the parts I've chosen are for a good fast PC. I am concern about the CPU I've chosen as I'm aware that AMD is going to be announcing new CPUs in a couple of weeks. I don't know if I should wait to see the new line up or if I should take advantage of the discounts going on for current Ryzen CPUs. Even if I wait for the new CPUs the MoBo I picked out should still work with the new versions, correct? Please let me know what you think. PCPartPicker link below: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MXNRJ8
  14. HI guys, I have recently purchased Gigabyte's GA-AB350 gaming 3 motherboard. After the PC is built and when i have turned on the PC, All the cabinet fans along the CPU fan everything works fine. But theirs on output form the motherboard to the monitor. and on the right corner to the motherboard theirs RED LED of the DRAM which blinks. so i don't understand whats with the ram. The Ram Stick I'm using is G.Skills - Ripjaws V - 8GB 2400MHZ (Single channel). 1. In the quality vendors list under 2400MHZ it only has these Modules F4-2400C15Q-32GRR, F4-2400C15Q2-64GRK, F4-2400C17S-8GDB. ( But the module number on my ram stick says F4-240017s-8GVR) 2. Does this mean if the module number isn't in the QVL it wouldn't support.? Can somebody help. Thank you. VID_20180406_171659645.mp4
  15. Looking for people to recommend components for a build that costs between $2000 and $2500. I am upgrading from an older PC and am hoping to be able to use some of the original parts such as: the corsair AX860i power supply, 240GB Kingston SSD, and corsair h100i CPU cooler. I am uncertain if these parts are outdated and should be upgraded or they are fine as is. My intentions for the new computer are completely honorable such as gaming, minor video editing/streaming, and messing around in blender. For gaming I would like to be able to maintain 60+ frames on the highest settings for most modern games in 1440 or 4k (I haven't decided if upgrading to 4k is worth it. My current monitor is an ASUS PB278Q that has a resolution of 2560x1440). When it comes to looks over performance, I am more interested in performance. For instance not everything has to have LED's. As far as the case goes, I would prefer something that can house 140mm fans has good airflow and is moderately quiet. To sum it all up and be frank, I do not know if what I ask for is outlandish for this price so treat the price as rather fluid while still trying to keep to the original parameters. TL:DR $2000-$2500 Looking to build a new PC already have power supply, cpu cooler, and storage SSD. (*maybe read above) Want to game at 60+ max settings on most games, with a resolution of 1440 or higher Performance over looks Do not include price of peripherals Thanks for all the help. This will be the third computer I have built and am still very much a noob.
  16. Hey Guys, New here so sorry if formatting is a bit off. Looking for some thoughts / advice on a new build that I am planning. It is going to be my most complicated (Expensive) build I have ever done and I don't want to mess this up. My main question is how would I achieve full control of the lighting in this build and if at all some of you guys think my money could be better spent elsewhere? With GPU Prices as they are atm, this build is a little ways off from being a reality but I just want to take the time to plan it all out. Many thanks for any help you guys can give me.
  17. I'm doing my first FreeNAS server build for a new 20TB Array that im planning on setting up and want some advice on if my current plan for it will work and if the parts I am planning on using are compatible with freenas because I know it can be picky... And also just some general advice on how Im planning on doing things...Sorry for the length of this post <3The PC/Main Parts:Im planning on buying this: https://www.trademe.co.nz/computers...00.htm?rsqid=2b500849e2e84349b3f1c699fdea6512 Second hand, it has 6 SATA ports on it which is enough for all the drives I'm planning on using plus enough PCIE slots for network cards, an extra SATA card (https://www.trademe.co.nz/computers...40.htm?rsqid=2313b0555a7c41b099d226387c56a45f) for a boot drive and a TV Tuner Card (https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/TVNHGR1629/Hauppauge-tunersWinTV-quadHD-New-Model---WinTV-qua)The Drives/Array Plan:I currently have 3 4TB WD Blues one of which has a bad sector on it so I won't be using it.Their current use is for storing a variety stuff:- My Media Archive so TVShows/Movies/Photos&Videos etc- My GoogleDrive which is what I use for backing up anything super important.- A copy of old Server Archives for the community I run.- A Steam Cache for games that I'm not currently playing that aren't on my SSD's in my main rig.- Backups of old work I have done (Just more archives).I currently only have about 700GB free out of the 12TB total between the three drives so I'm planning on getting another 4 of them from here (https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/HDDWD1940/WD-4TB-Blue-Edition-35-SATA3-Internal-HDD-5400RPM)and putting them plus my current two that are fine (6 Drives) into a RaidZ setup. The idea being that it should give me some redundancy (With important stuff being stored on GoogleDrive) and from what I have read around it should let me Read off the disks at about 5-6x the speed of one of the drives and write at 1x the speed of one of the drives. Though I read somewhere that with RaidZ the write speeds are apparently increased as well? So if anyone could clarify that, it would be great, if the write speeds are only the speed of one drive I would likely just get a SSD for a write cache. This should give me roughly a 20TB array.Generally the only thing I would be using the Array for on a daily basis is watching my Media Collection, Downloading & Watching the daily Floatplane Videos from LTT, Downloading from steam (I plan to setup a steamcache on it so that I can cache all my downloads for quick installs to my SSD on my main rig) and probably some google drive backups too if possible...Networking:What I would really love is to be able to have 10Gigabit between the NAS and my Main Rig however they are probably going to be about 15-20m apart from each other and everywhere I looked the cost for two 10Gig cards plus that much cable was nearly 1k NZD... So, I decided that I might try a different approach.I have fiddled around with SMBMultichannel before and it has worked great allowing me to move files between my server and main rig at up to 3gb/s with 3 nics in each machine, and according to this post: https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/smb-multichannel.54926/ FreeNAS now aparently supports it. With the SATA card and the TV Tuner card I would have about 4 PCIE&PCI slots left which would be enough for me to throw a bunch of https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETTPL3468/TP-Link-TG-3468-32-bit-Gigabit-PCIe-Network-Adapte these into it. Or I might be able to put a single 4Port card in it but it depends on if I can get one I currently have working (Which I'm fairly sure is dead) or if I can take one out of my PfSense Router and use multiple of the above adaptors in that instead. With either way It will give me another 4 ports on the NAS meaning I should be able to transfer at 5gb/s over the network using SMBMultichannel and just a bunch of Network Cables which I'm happy to have over paying stupid amounts for 10gig. (Though if you know of some cheap 10gig cards/cables that work in FreeNAS and would do a distance of around 15-20m please do tell me)Software:This ones kinda complicated... I want to run a bunch of things on the FreeNAS box alongside the main file storage:Plex (Mainly for organising media but also for TV LiveStreaming & Recording to the NAS with the Receiver Card I mentioned above) < Accessing the 20TB ArraySteamCache (Specifically This: https://github.com/steamcache/generic for caching the installs of games over the network. Mainly so I can keep the SSD's in my main rig clean and whenever I want to play a game I can just install off steam at whatever max speed I can pull from the NAS) < Accessing the 20TB ArrayPrometheus (https://prometheus.io/) & Graphana (https://grafana.com/) < Accessing a SSDNode.js (For several website's/API's and also for the script that downloads daily FloatPlane videos previously mentioned) < Accessing the 20TB Array & a SSDGoogleDriveNow I know that I can run VM's and Docker through FreeNAS but I don't know how well this would actually work with everything above in regards to file system access, network access ETC. Im hoping that I will just be able to setup perhaps a single linux VM for all of them and allocate that a nice portion of resources and access to the drives so that stuff like SteamCache can serve stuff to me via all the adapters. That's kinda it... I'd really like some input as to what I could be doing better or what may or may not work... Or ways that I could improve upon it, and sorry for the length of the post
  18. I'm just starting on the pc the building thing I have priced up and sorted out my build and I have just started ordering the parts. I am just watching to know if there are going to be and any change to the ryzen 5 processors if there is going to be some kind of second generation coming for CES 2018 which is currently on going
  19. Recently, I have gotten this crazy urge to build a new PC.It is primarily going to be for gaming, but I will be doing some video editing on it. My budget is about 850$ give or take 50$. The most important part should be the functionality, but the looks should definitely be nice as I will be keeping this build for a long long time. I really like the Thermaltake Core V21 case and I want my build to be centered around it. I already have the power supply and the storage so that is not an issue.
  20. Ok, I Know I will probably catch some $hit over this because I chose Cyberpower but this is my first build and WILL have some revisions and upgrades. I have an Asus nvme vroc PCIe card coming, unfortunately, I ordered wd SSD (DOH!) did not know only intel plays well I did not do enough research. So this build is a bit ignorant but I will be asking for help In the near future this system is all in the pipe and I am hoping to have it here by the beginning of December I wanted to have it somewhat prebuilt so that it will be functional from the get-go and I didn't have to add any OS or programs off the bat as I have never done any of that . please leave comments and if your willing to help do some content creation while at it BLKFRISALE1: CYBERPOWERPC Skorpion K2 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard [+5] BLKFRISALE2: CyberpowerPC Gaming Mouse Pad [+0] BLKFRISALE3: 6-FT HDMI Flat Cable, V1.4, Supports 3D & 4K Resolution, Gold Plated Connector Cable [+5] (1 piece) BLUETOOTH: None CABLE: None CARE1: Ultra Enhanced Packaging Solution - Protect Your Dream System During Transit [+19] CARE2: Cooler Master Mastergel Maker CPU-Thermal Compound Optimized for Thermal Dissipation [+10] CAS: Thermaltake View 71 RGB Edition Full Tower Gaming Case & Four-Sided Tempered Glass Side Panels [-100] CASUPGRADE: RGB Multi-Color 16 color LED 1x interior light strip w/ Remote Controller CC: None CD: LG 14X Internal Blu-ray Burner, BD-RE, 3D Playback DVD+RW Combo Drive [+77] (Black Color) CD2: None COOLANT: High Performance Liquid Coolant (Colorless) CPU: Intel® Core™ Processor i7-7740X Quad-Core 4.3GHz 8MB Intel Smart Cache LGA2066 (Dual Channels) [-156] CS_FAN: 3x RAIDMAX NV-R120 120mm RGB Hydraulic bearing Fans ENGRAVING: None EVGA_POWER: None FA_HDD: None FAN: XSPC RayStorm 420 EX240 LCS Kit W/ 240MM EX240 Dual Radiator, X2O 420 Bayres/Pump & Reservoir, RayStorm Copper Cold Plate CPU water Block [+74] (2 x RED Tt Riing 12 Series Case/Radiator Fan [+24]) FLASHMEDIA: None FREEBIE_VC: None HD_M2SSD: 32GB Intel® Optane™ Memory Accelerator M.2 PCIe NVMe + 1TB SATA III Hard Drive Combo [ARRAY MODE] [+144] (OS Drive) HD_PCIE1X_SSD: None HDD: 2TB (2TBx1) SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD [-151] (2TB x 2 (4 TB Capacity) RAID 0 Super Performance [+76]) HDD2: None HEADSET: None INSTRUCTION: None IUSB: Kingwin USB 3.0 Internal Hub with Card Reader & USB 3.1 Port [+39] KEYBOARD: CyberpowerPC Multimedia USB Gaming Keyboard MEMORY: 32GB (8GBx4) RGB Lightning DDR4/3000MHz Memory Module (GSKILL Trident Z RGB) MONITOR: None MOPAD: None MOTHERBOARD: ASUS PRIME X299-DELUXE ATX w/ RGB, 802.11ac, USB 3.1, 4 PCIe x16, 2 PCIe x1, 6 SATA3, 2 M.2 SATA/PCIe [Intel Optane Ready] [+334] MOUSE: CyberpowerPC Standard 4000 DPI with Weight System Optical Gaming Mouse NETWORK: Onboard Gigabit LAN Network OS: Windows 10 Home (64-bit Edition) OVERCLOCK: No Overclocking POWER SUPPLY: 850 Watts - EVGA 850W GQ 80 Plus Gold Power Supply [+89] PRO_WIRING: Professional Wiring + [Black/Red] Phanteks Premium Extension Cables sleeved set [24Pin MB + 8Pin CPU + 6+2 Pin VGA] [+39] RUSH: Standard processing time: ship within 5 to 10 Business Days SERVICE: 3 Years FREE Service Plan (INCLUDES LABOR AND LIFETIME TECHNICAL SUPPORT) SLI_BRIDGE: None SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO SPEAKERS: None TUNING: None USB HD: None USBX: NZXT Internal USB Hub + USB Bluetooth Module [+34] VIDEO: MSI GeForce® GTX 1080 Gaming X 8GB GDDR5X (Pascal)[VR Ready] [-195] (Single Card) VIVE_HEADSET: None WARRANTY: STANDARD WARRANTY: 1 Year Parts WARRANTY WNC: None WTV: None _PRICE: (+2916) also like I said I have the Asus m.2 expansion coming I just bought the wrong cards SSDs due to poor research and will update the CPU and add a second GPU with SLI and probably a 1200watt titanium PSU anyway this is a start
  21. Okay, This is the first computer that I am ever building and I kina want feed back on improvement's that could be implied. I tired to keep it basic and kina in my budget but if you guys have anything suggestions, don't hesitate to let me know. The computer is mainly going to be used for gaming. But I kina want to make sure it can be used for video editing. URL: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Nightraver47/saved/Mj7Gf7
  22. Alright guys so here is my question, its somewhat long so here we go, Im planning on building a new computer , My plans was to just go with Ryzen 5 1600 or 1600x and a 1070ti Gpu because they will work well together my problem is My 32 inch monitor is only 1080p 60hz so as im not really bottle necking my parts per say it seems like it would all be a waist to go 1070ti seeing that my monitor is only 1080p but if i step down my graphics card to say a 1060 6gb I will be bottlenecking by using the Ryzen 5. Would it be better for me to just get the Ryzen 5 1600 and the 1070ti and use it with the monitor i have now and possibly in the future get a 1440p or higher monitor or be better off just to downgrade my system build? And If i should down grade what Amd CPU and GPU should i go with? Sorry if this has been ask before i cant seem to find answers on it anywhere. Thanks
  23. I just took the leap from laptop to desktop, but never thought of that I might be bottlenecking in this build. It's something that's kind of unfamiliar to me. The specs of my new computer is: Corsair CX750M, 750W PSU Intel Core i5-7600 Kaby Lake Prosessor Stock CPU cooler. ASUS Prime B250M-Plus BULK, Socket-1151 Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400MHz 16GB (2x8GB) Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Corsair Forceseries LE200 240GB 2,5" Is there something I should upgrade? I'm already planning on a 2TB HDD for storage, but performance wise, what would be the best "next step".
  24. Hey Im working on a new workstation/gaming build after a fire took out 2 desktops and a laptop. Its been a while since I did a pc build (2013 to be exact) so trying to wrap my head around the new NVMe M.2 drives and (with appropriate amounts of LTT). The pc will be used for heavy light-room and Photoshop use, with a modest amount of gaming. My main question would be what is the best configuration to set up the storage. Current spare components: Already have 6 x 500 GB 85 evo SSDS 1 Intel 540s 1T SSD 3 intel 540s 490 GB SSD HDD for long term storage New computer build plan: i7 9700k RTX 2070 windforce 32 GB 3200 MHz Ram (2x16GB) Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro WiFi or Ultra Motherboard Deep rock 4 or deep rock pro 4 cpu cooler. Corsair RM750x 750W 80 Plus V2 Gold Fractal designs s2 meshify case Initially i was considering just using the SSDs I have on hand to save some $$. Running one 500 GB SSD for the operating system + instaled files, a 500 GB SSD for my games library and the 1 T SSD to store my Adobe applications, current light room catalogue and photos (Correct me if im wrong but i believe having the applications, catalogue and the images all one the one drive gives a bit of a performance boost?). My budget probably wont let me go overboard on multiple M.2 NVMe drives, how ever i can afford one 1T Samsung 970 evo plus m.2 or two intel 660p drives (256 GB and 1T). Given the SSD drives I already have, is it worth spending the extra an the M.2, how would you implement it into the build for the best performance increase, particularly for photo/video editing? Would you go with the m.2 for the operating system drive, then have lightroom and photoshop on the OS drive as well (or the os on the 256GB drive and photography stuff on the second 1T one if i go with 2x Intel 660p). Any other configurations or options to consider? If i understand things correctly, when the M.2 is connected to the MB it uses up 2 SATA 3 ports, leaving me with only 2 SATA ports left if i get two intel m.2 drives? Does the M.2 give a significant boost to lightroom/photoshop performance or should i stick with the SSDs for now (possibly spend the budget for the m.2s on an upgrade to a RTX 2080). Other build suggestions welcomed. Cheers
  25. Hey all, Looking to build a new PC for my partner (it's been a long time coming, the old one is toast). Haven't done a build in 12 years, and obviously a lot has changed since then! Primary use for us is for gaming; we play Skyrim, Kingdom Come Deliverance, War Thunder, and are highly anticipating the new Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord and Baldur's Gate III. Ideally trying to keep costs between $750-850 CAD. Don't need to run anything on Ultra settings, but getting med-high settings would be nice. Trying to keep costs realistic right now and get the best build for my budget. Thanks!!
