On a whim I built this via curbside pickup parts from best buy during the quarantine to replace my aging overclocked 4670k with an modern overclocked ryzen 3700k let me know what you think and I'd be interested in suggestions for tweaks or links to similar systems. I also run an overclocked gtx1080, I mean do I really need raytracing? Asking for a friend. Everything is air cooled with and with stock cpu cooler. Although I am thinking about getting a new cpu cooler... which one? And also how would I go about liquid cooling the gtx?

Budget (including currency): Under $800 Goal Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly Gaming, Article Editing (College & Work). This system is deigned for a friend of mine who is an avid computer gamer but has never really had their own personal system or one that was able to play current titles. I want to help them start their own system they will be happy with but not have invested too much money because they are not an enthusiast. We have not included the case yet in the build until after all the part selecting is set in stone. Other details: - Existing parts: Monitor, Keyboard & Mouse only, no original system. - When you're going to buy: Before October 1st - Desired Resolution and refresh rate: 1080p @60FPS minimum. Link to the Newegg Wishlist: https://secure.newegg.com/wishlist/sd/pCTg81EmQ2lfZdcqaOVfbA== I haven't designed a system in a few years so I had to do some research first and then come register here for the expert advise of this community. I would really appreciate to hear what you guys think! edit: fix hyperlink

Budget (including currency): 1200-1500 USD (A bit more flexible than this if necessary) Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly general gaming but want it to be able to smoothly run VR games if possible. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Would like to play at least 1080p at 144hz.. I don’t know a lot about most of the more technical aspects but I will most likely not OC at least at first just because I hope to not have the need. I don’t care to save money on storage at the moment, will most likely be adding more later either way and same with RAM. Also not sure as far as waiting on new GPU releases This is the current list I put together PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9Hhzq3 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($289.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard ($209.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory ($168.98 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($87.31 @ Amazon) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER ($699.99 @ Best Buy) Case: Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB ATX Mid Tower Case ($137.98 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($139.99 @ Best Buy) Total: $1734.23 i’m guessing the 7 3700x it’s not necessary as well as the motherboard? Frankly I’d like to leave room for upgrading my GPU possibly but not sure on it. Also won’t lie, wouldn’t mind a free copy of assassin’s creed Valhalla. Not in a hurry to build btw.. Thanks to anyone who helps, and sorry if I’m completely incompetent

Budget (including currency): ₹ 4,00,000 Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Training Neural nets, Bioinformatics and NAS Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I work in a research lab and are investing in a brand new system for our varying workload. We plan to use Linux as the main OS on 2 x 500 GB SSD on RAID-1 and have 4 x 4TB Drives on RAID-5 for storage. Our lab is setup such that we also need other researchers to have access to the data. The Workstation shall process the data and also allow other users on the network to access that data. We will be training neural nets and will be running bioinformatics simulation too. Here is the planned system configuration: 12 Core Xeon W-2265, 128 GB ECC, RTX 4000 (8GB) and a 10 Gigabit NIC with a 4K monitor. Will support RAM and GPU expansion slots for future upgrade. After revisiting LTT videos, I felt unRAID solution of hardware passthrough would set me up nicely with Processing and NAS. I'm here for suggesting on my setup. Reason for RAID is only because we want some kind of safety when we're running the simulation or neural nets for long hours lasting days. Data shall be backed up in some intervals, but the protocol is not set. Does my use case even warrant against the cost of unRAID license?! Windows will also be used, but initially planned to be run as a VM inside Linux. Going for ZFS on Linux with 'samba' for SMB share would be a better solution for my use case? I'm not sure. HELP ME! Should I go for RAID-6? Please help me understand. And do I really need a H/W RAID card for my comparatively small setup. I would appreciate any kind of suggestions over my choices and any help me to avoid obvious pitfalls. Thank you very much for your time.

Hello! This is my first PC I ever built, I was working in a very tight budget but it works and looks kinda decent, I'm looking for ways to improve the looks of my PC since it looks kinda ugly. Specs: Intel Core i3 9100f Asus Prime B365m/a MSI GTX 1070 Adata 2x8GB @ 2400mhz Adata 480 SATA3 M.2 SSD EVGA 500w 80+ Corsair Lightning node + RGB strip Cheap 120mm AiO Sirius Loop 120mm RGB Cheap Chinese ATX Case VictSing Mechanical Keyboard Corsair Ironclaw Wacom CTL-480 (Does the Macbook Counts?) The cost I've spent was around $230 dlls since the CPU and GPU were donated to me I'm planning to buy some white PSU extension cables and maybe a White Corsair 220t Airflow Since the GPU red PCB is kinda ugly I am also looking into 3D printing one backplate using ABS or lasercutting acrylic to fix it.

Today just assembled a new PC. Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Motherboard: MSI B450M Pro VDH MAX GPU: Galax Geforce GTX 1650 Super RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 3200Mhz * 2 PSU: Corsair CV650 80+ Bronze HDD: Seagate 2TB Barracuda SSD: WD Green 240GB M.2 SSD Problem is when I assembled the PC and started it for first time it didn't show anything on screen while every FAN and RGB inside the case was working. Then I noticed EZ Debug LED were blinking. So, I powered off the PC and started again. Upon startup CPU white LED blinked for a sec or two and after it the GPU light blinked for a sec. Searched for error on MoBo manual tried everything listed, tried everything as well from diff forums. Nothing helped. So, I re assembled the PC from start but error still persists. Checked CPU pins, those are completely perfect. Tried CMOS reset, didn't help. Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Having issues getting my new build to boot through USB. I’m having to use MacOS to get the windows 10 64 bit installer onto a drive. I’ve been using Etcher to flash the ISO file (I’ve even tried boot camp which doesn’t even get a bootable drive on the BIOS) but when the installer begins on the new PC I get a message stating “the media driver is missing” and “no device drivers were found”. USB is in a 2.0 port, I’ve tried plugging into a different port and rescanning, and running the boot in UEFI but still the same message. MOBO - Asus X570-PLUS TUF (WiFi)

Budget (including currency): +/- $1200 USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Graphic Design, CAD, Gaming in general but probably not top tier but would like the option. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): See description Posted this earlier in the wrong place (Sorry BTW). Greetings all! First time on the forums here though I have been a fan of the YouTube channels for a while now. I am a computer repair tech and got out of the game maybe six or so years ago to explore other things in my life. Things have changed a great deal since I built my last system and I am in dire need a major upgrade from this ENVY laptop. So, I've puts some funds together but I find myself hesitating on what to pull the trigger on. I don't have a huge budget but I would love some opinions on the best routes to go on some hardware decisions. I have not been a huge gamer in recent years but would like the option if I decide to go that direction and I primarily do graphic design now professionally. I use Photoshop, CAD / SketchUp but would also like the umph to use some more resource intensive programs should they become available. Any advise would be greatly appreciated! So in a nutshell, given my needs for the computer, if you had a budget of around $1200 - what would you build? (In lieu of budgetary reasons, rgb and other flashy options which add expense are second priority, performance first) Also wouldn't mind a nod on some good monitor options that you have had good experiences with. Would like a wide format / or dual screen setup - possibly curved? Thanks a ton in advance ltt community! Jim

Components: Motherboard: X570 Aorus Pro Wifi CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X GPU: RX-580 8GB MSI Armor(Temporary) PSU: Corsair Rm850x RAM: Gskill Trident Z 32GB 3200MHZ Dual Kit. Hi, My Motherboard won't post and there are no beeps either. The CPU fan is spinning and lighting up, RAM Sticks are lighting up too but there's no display. GPU fans weren't spinning but reason could also be that since they are 'Zero Frozr' fans and don't spin when the load is low which is why I'm not sure. I removed the GPU and plugged in the HDMI directly to the Motherboard and still no post nor beeps. I don't know if it's the CPU, Motherboard or PSU. I took out the CPU and checked for bent pins but there aren't any. I'm really confused. I'd really appreciate any kind of help. Thanks.

Hey Guys and Gals, I have a new PC build here and I had gone through the specs I dont know how many times and I cant figure out why im getting a stutter in Warzone. I have played on console for years all has been good I have a solid internet connection wired getting 120 to 150 Mbps and yet im getting frame drops and random freezing mid game on warzone. (I know a lot of people do not have nice things to say for the game but I have to stay faithful to where I found my love for gaming years and years ago with COD and then its all my mates like to play so no choice really lol). The specs for the PC are below. Mobo: Gigabyte B450M CPU: Ryzen 5 3600x GPU: Palit 2080 Super Ram: Vengance 2x16GB DDR4 2666MHZ HDD; Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM M.2: Samsung 256GB - Game installed here PSU: Aerocool Integrator 600W And the case has plenty of Fans and ventilation with no temp spikes. I did try a sligh OC to see if this would improve it but it did not change anything so has been reset back to stock. Can anyone find anything in there that could be the issue. I think it might be the PSU but from everything I have ready there should be plenty of power in the 600W for the set up. Any info would be much appreciated.

So i started buying parts for new pc, at the moment i use a I5 2320 with a rx580 Parts i have : AMD Ryzen7 3800X CORSAIR - iCUE H150i XT ASUS - ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING AM4 Motherboard corsair vengeance rgb pro 4x8GB CORSAIR - RM850x Modular ATX PSU - 850 W i have ssd(m.2 and some 2TB drives). case not decided on yet :/ am i missing any think ? Question is 1: does this build so far look ok ? 2: Do i go for a 2070Super/2080Super/2080TI or wait for 3000 series and use the rx580 for now, if i wait i will get a top end 3000 series, will the jump from 2080ti be worth the wait(i know most dont know but most can guess ? At the moment i use a 1080p display but that will change in the next week or so to a 27inch 1440p 144hz or a 32inch 4k 60 - 100hz do you have any recommended displays that dont cost the earth ? At the moment i mostly play World of Tanks and i want it max out at 144fps or more for 1440p (60+ or more 4k). Thanks all

Budget (including currency): USD 800 max. Country: Indonesia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games : Mostly Sims 4 & Cities Skylines at high (if not maxed out) settings, MSFS as a bonus (if it can run at all), and a ton of their mods. Programs : Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, & Premiere (or something else for light 1080p video edits). Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Build priority is still for as low of a cost as possible, while being able to comfortably play at 1080p60. Already have a color-accurate 1080p60 monitor, keyboard+mouse set, and external drives for work projects' storage. Living at a shared house so please include an 802.11ac wifi module on the build. Will purchase within 3 weeks. Hello all, Please help compose a build for me. I already scoured the market for parts but got more confused than before lol. Ideally it should cost as low as possible, and I understand that in my country prices tend to get inflated so I'm more concerned of the specs actually. Function over form, so RGB or flashy cases is not necessary. Not going to OC either, it needs to just work for the things I mention above and be properly cooled. Thanks before!

Hi guys. I just want your opinion on this setup for gaming/streaming. Hey everyone, so I was thinking about buying a new PC a while ago but then the thought of upgrading my current one occurred to me. The only thing about my current one is that it's prebuilt, and thus I don't know the compatibility of its components if I were to upgrade it (The computer is around 4 years old). My currents specs are: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790S CPU @ 3.20GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 12 GB RAM (not sure if ddr3 or ddr4) 1 TB Harddrive Asus K30AD_M31AD_M51AD Motherboard (I'll attach a word doc with more specifics) The GPU is pretty outdated, and I want to upgrade that first. However, to avoid bottle-necking I figured I should install more RAM and replace my CPU and Power Supply as well. I'm also gonna open up my PC to check the components I can't find out automatically and have to physically see, and I'll update it here in the future. What would you guys say is the best course of action? Should I try upgrading this one or just buy a new one entirely? Anything would help, thanks so much! Hardware.docx

THis is my first post, so please notify me if i am doing anything off-topic, against the rules or other stuff. so. my little brother has been looking to get into pc gaming. he wants to play mostly e-sports titles like overwatch, fortnite, csgo. my parents tasked me (older brother) to help with the configuration of such a pc. i have been watching linus tech tips build guides and built a nas and a render server with parts from ebay. however, we went to the pc store (Webhallen, sweden) and i choose parts. the goal was a ryzen 5 and a gtx 1050. the budget was 8000 SEK (900 dollars) including peripherals. to fit this budget i cheaped out on the motherboard, which was approximately 56 dollars. i also cheaped out on the psu, which was 40 dollars. the psu is a 600w kolink 80plus power supply. all the compnents that i (think) wont drastically affect gaming performance where the cheapest compatible from a reputable reseller (webhallen). now to my question. is this a good practice for future value optimised builds, or is it worth spending some extra money on quality motherboards and higher rated psus? will this negatively affect the lifespan of the pc? psu: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/kolink-core-series-600w-80-plus-certified-power-supply-ca-02p-kk.html psu from place that it is bought: https://www.webhallen.com/se/product/281746-Kolink-Core-PSU-600W-80-Plus

newbuild HELP with Components best selection
kyrios01 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello!I would like someone to tell me if i am not about to commit a mistake.im going to buy a new MOBO, CPU and RAM, and i selected this:1. i5-7600k2.ASUS B250 ddr43. corssair 8gb 2400MHZ LPXbut the seller also gave me the following components as options:1. GIGABYTE GA-B250M-DS3H 2. i5 7500My need:im wont overclock even with a "k" CPU, but i like that extra raw power of the "k" version of the 7600, and that's why i didnt go for a z170 o z270 mobo.so, with that mindset, is the asus mobo a better option from gigabyte? am i too crazy choosing a "k" cpu just for raw power?what i already have:1.asus strix gtx 9702.PSU 550watts3.500gb samsung SSD4.2Tb seagate HDDthanks in advance for the help and advice- 14 replies

Hi guys, i want to build a VR ready gaming Pc for around 1300$ or 1100€. It also should be capable to play games on high settings on 1080p. No RGB and other esthetics needed. I thought using an Intel core i5/i7 7/8 generation and maybe instant of an secondary SSD for games an Intel optane 32gb m.2 and a 2TB Barracuda drive. A boot SSD and 16GB Ram should it be. Do you have any ideas for an good configuration?

1. Budget & Location I'm looking to spend less than $1,000 US. (I'm in the Phoenix, AZ area if anyone knows any good brick and mortar shops around that may be cheaper than online) 2. Aim Basically, I have this (probably far-fetched) dream of being able to make money off my favorite hobby and quit my normal day job, so I want a system that is a good starter for gaming of all types plus streaming. I'm not necessarily married to the idea of having a total beast at first, my idea is to invest a little bit now just to get started, with the intention of upgrading down the road if it pays off and I decide stick with it for the long run. So upgradeability is a pretty big factor. 3. Monitors I plan on just using 2 monitors at first (one for gameplay and the other for everything else). I already have a 32" 1080 led tv I plan on using for the main display. I can probably get a second display pretty cheap and easy so I'm not concerned about that. Eventually, I'd love to change the tv to my secondary monitor and run either dual or triple 4k displays for the gaming, but again, thats long-term goals. 4. Peripherals I have a simple logitech bluetooth mouse/keyboard combo that work okay for now. Eventually I'll upgrade to proper gaming stuff. I also have been looking into getting a streamdeck to help make the streaming side of things a bit easier. I'd like to run either windows 7 or 10. I already did a little browsing and created a parts list, but with this being my first build, I'm not 100% confident in it, so I'd appreciate some feedback in things that may work better/places to cut costs/etc. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Churdle/saved/NCRJ8d

Hello everyone, hope you're all having a wonderful day. I just need help and advice planning my first PC build. I need a good PC which can smoothly edit up to 4k footage, run 3 monitors(1 4k and others just normal FHD) and a 4k tv. I have not spent any money so far and have just been trying to plan a good PC that will last a long time. A few of my friends have suggested these ideas; 1920x with a GTX 1080 or i7 8th gen. I was first thinking of going big with a really high budget and an overkill PC with i9 7980xe, GTX 1080Ti, 64gb Ram. I dont even know much about build but I've tried to do some research and get an idea of what I want. Money isn't really a problem, its just that I don't want to over spend money on something that I will only use for editing and rarely 4k footage. Thank you for reading. Please reply if you could help me out with suggestions. Enjoy your day.

I wan't your opinion:. I'm building a new personal rig update, i have a fx8320, i wan't a Ryzen 7 1700 or a i7 8700 (not the K), i wan't it for streaming and gaming. Maybe just a little video editing. Sorry for my english, it's not my first language.
