Budget (including currency): 700USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: most FPS games and possible streaming in the future Other details Current parts: Case: NZXT H9 flow CPU: i9-12900KF AIO: msi mag coreliquid 360r MOBO: msi pro z790-a ddr5 Ram: Corsair vengeance 64gb 6000 PSU: Msi MPG A850G Storage: crucible p3 plus 2tb Operating system: Windows 10 Currently building my first pc, i was wondering about opinions on 3060 vs 4060. Main goal would be decent frame rates at 1080 and maybe 1440 in the future. I'm Open to different opinions on other GPUs that might be a better option as well.

I'm on a gigabyte b650m ds3h and I've done all the prerequisites to get my pc running well. in the bios if I set my CPU fan to max speed it caps at 325rpm when my system fans get up to regular speeds. I've tried to control it thru gigabytes control center, but it doesn't even give me the fan control option even after updating numerous times. I'm scared to run games bc I think I might fry my CPU. any help?

Ello people of the LTT Forums, I'm here on a grand journey of trying to get a somewhat capable system without it being an outrageous price. - Budget & Location: Looking to go probably between $800-$900 ($USD)max on the build. - Aim: It'll mainly be used for gaming most of the time, but I do occasionally stream and do some video editing here and there. The games I've been mainly playing are Fortnite and Dead by Daylight. Fortnite I need to run on higher settings to get the graphics I need for the video editing stuff. - Monitors: Both monitors I have are 1080p at 60hz. Not the best, but they do just fine for me and I don't plan on trading them out anytime soon. - Peripherals: I don't need any other peripherals at the moment unless I decide to pick up some wireless stuff like a mouse and keyboard since the cords may not be long enough depending on where the build goes. I shouldn't need a Windows license but the system may decide otherwise. - Why are you upgrading?: My old system was an ASUS TUF Gaming A15 2022 model laptop, and it lasted me only about a year and a half before kicking the bucket and dying on me. I'm currently running an old pre-built, the Alienware Aurora R8, but the specs in it are far from great and don't suffice for what I need it to do. My current plan while I slowly earn the money to build the full system is most likely to buy the parts slowly, adding them to this system while I can until I can get the proper case, motherboard, and PSU. My current system (The Aurora R8) has an Intel Core i5 9400 @ 2.90GHz, an AMD Radeon RX 560X 4GB, 8.00GB Single-Channel DDR4 @ 1330MHz, and the Alienware 0R3FWM (U3E1) motherboard. The parts I'm currently planning on getting over time are listed in the provided screenshot, grabbed from PCPartPicker. I'm not the best when it comes to all this, and it would be my first legitimate PC build, but I'm somewhat knowledgeable and should be able to understand some things about this stuff. If anything if anyone can suggest any cheaper picks that may round out to similar performance let me know, trying to save as much as I can.

Budget (including currency): $1800 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: UE5, Blender, Adobe Suite, Fusion360… Other details: This computer will be used for 3d modelling and renders in UE5 as well as Blender and Fusion 360. Aside from that, maybe some games like Minecraft, Modern Warfare, Valorant, Fortnite… Doesn’t need to look pretty, I just want something that is gonna be future proof and last a few years without having to upgrade due to hardware limitations. Hopefully someone can recommend something. Thanks

Sorry if this is too specific, I have been unable to play games on my Windows PC at home due to health issues ('prolly cause I am a keyboard and mouse jockey all day'...but that is an aside) for about three years. Out of frustration around Christmas this year (2023) I started looking at buying a controller to game on my PC with. Having never owned a PlayStation or an Xbox I will be the first to admit my starting point as unknowledgeable as you could get! Diving in the deep end I swam well past the smushy Logitech-type devices and ended up purchasing a GuliKit, no drifting joystick, KingKong 2 Pro controller. So far in this steep learning curve, I have given myself for Christmas, the controller 'life' experience has been a little muted. The GuliKit KingKong 2 Pro controller is recognised as an Xbox controller by my PC, however, the action keys Y, X, A and B did not correspond correctly with the gameplay experience. Re-reading the 'enjoy gaming easier' GuliKit manual I found out it is possible to change this easily, whew! What I have come here to ask those who know better than I do is whether there is a way to map the key actions, because, I have now noticed that unlike my gamepad some key actions are duplicated. I am not even sure if this is something that other controllers (like an Xbox controller) have issues with or if it is a GuliKit thing. Any expert can chime in, as I said I know nothing, all comments, are welcome (from other time zones too!). Cheers, Steve.

Budget (including currency): €3000 Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA games, some photo editing and minimal coding (last two due to work but I usually use my MacBook for that) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I would also like to know which monitor you recommend with, ideally, 244 Hz. Hello! First-time poster, long-time watcher. After years of only using MacBooks basically for work, I am looking to build a gaming PC and my budget is ~€3000. The main goal here is to get something that can run AAA games without a problem and do some photo editing. I would like something that can last for some years without having to upgrade every X months or that reaches bottlenecks. I have asked an online shop what components they would propose and they have shared these: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/M72zHG The quoted price in their shop is ~€2600 so there is some room in the budget to upgrade some stuff. I was thinking mainly about changing the CPU to a Ryzen 9 7950X3D and the power supply to 1000W but happy to know your thoughts based on your experience! I'm not interested in RGB or fancy colours, I prefer to invest in performance and longevity. Also, the shop has recommended air cooling the machine as it has less points of failure and less maintenance is needed.

Hello, I need some feedback on my first PC I'm going to build. I'm planning on using it for 3d animation (Blender, Unreal Engine, Nuke) and gaming (Minecraft, KSP, Assetto Corsa, etc.). My budget is about $1,300 US, including only the components, not the monitor and case. I'm hopefully going to buy it pretty soon because of the Christmas discounts. Also, I'd like the specs to be about the same, or better.

Budget: ~$1500 Australian dollars for the PC itself, another $500 for things like display, peripherals, speakers, etc. Country: Australia Use case: Will be using it mainly for gaming (hopefully at 1440p) but would be nice to have some headroom for potentially streaming. Additionally, this PC will be using wifi because my router is way too far away to realistically use ethernet. I don't play any competitive games so this shouldn't be an issue. Aesthetics: I'd like to go with a white themed PC but I don't know how well that would match with the parts I've chosen... Parts list: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/FyWDz6 CPU: Ryzen 5600 - Seems to be the best value CPU in Australia, anything Intel is a huge price increase. Have thought about going with the 5700x for the two extra cores but not sure if I'd need them (and the upgrade + decent CPU cooler would be about a 33% price increase) Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard - Motherboard with WiFi 6E, a front panel USB-C header and good reviews. Cooler: I'm gonna be using the stock cooler. Don't plan to do any overclocking at the moment, so I think I'll get away with this? RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory - Cheapest DDR4-3600 CL16 RAM I could get. I've been told this is the sweet spot for Ryzen 5000 Storage: Crucial P5 Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive - Fast NVMe storage, reputabe brand. I have a 1TB Intel 660p NVMe drive on hand that I can chuck in for extra storage, too. GPU: Asus DUAL OC GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB Video Card - Cheapest 3070 I could find, good reviews. It's about 70 aussie dollars to get this over a 3060ti - I think this is worth it? Going with NVIDIA over AMD for DLSS and NVENC. PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 PE 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply - Modular PSU with good reviews, I believe it also has some headroom for future upgrades. Case: NZXT H5 Flow RGB ATX Mid Tower Case - Nice looking case, comes with decent fans from what I've read. For the mouse and monitor, I just chose some placeholders to get a rough value of how much this will end up costing me. I've decided on a keyboard (Keychron V1) but not a mouse or display. Will be going to look at some displays today though! Appreciate any recommendations or part swaps for cost reductions or better value, and thanks for the help!

Sent here by Dan.dll and The WAN Show on Friday! Budget (including currency): $3000USD for system and monitor(s) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: MS Flight Simulator, FPS type games, racing games like iRacing Other details I am currently using a roughly 15-year-old Dell DV6T laptop as my houses only computer. It sits on my desk and it hasn't been used as a laptop in probably 10 or so years because it gets so damn hot that it's absolutely uncomfortable. I would love to get back into computer gaming with a solid desktop, since I obviously have no reason to travel with my computer, and have something my kids can use as well as they get older. I don't need to have ultra mega super high graphics on everything, but I'm used to console gaming at 1080 on my TV so something that makes fine details look good would be preferable. I have slightly above average computer knowledge, and will likely need to buy a prebuilt system because I'm not confident enough in my building skills, so give me recommendations and suggestions as if I was a grade school kid please

Hi, I've recently upgraded from i5-12400 to i5-13600k. And it's thermal throttling on 2 cores, giving about 2200 less score in Cinebench than "Average". I've reapplied the thermal paste twice to make sure that it's making full contact. So, might this be a CPU-Cooler problem? Is this cooler to tiny to efficiently cool the i5-13600k? The cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports DUO 2 x 120mm Should I upgrade to: Noctua NH-D15 I'm really not good at this and would appreciate some feedback/help in the matter. Below are the IDLE/LOAD temps and cinebench score. Let me know if there is any other info needed to diagnose this! Idle temps Idle temps seems to be okay? During cinebnech CINEBENCH SCORE Thank you for any feedback and help!

Celo posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hi guys, I could use some help picking the parts to build my new PC. Here are some details: 1. Budget (including currency): 2900€ (euros) max. 2. Country: Portugal 3. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: After effects, Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve, Illustrator and triple A games (Cyberpunk, Dying Light, etc) 4 . Aim: work and play games, I mainly work with motion design and video / photo editing. 3. Monitors: I only have one monitor (2560 x 1440p 144hz), no plans to add a second one in the near future. 4. Peripherals: Already have peripherals. Will need an OS (Windows 11 pro). 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm currently working on a budget laptop (with a GTX1650) that doesn't allow me to play many games and can't really handle heavy projects. 6. Storage: I need loads of space cause the projects I work with have huge asset libraries (especially videos). 7. RAM: I need loads of RAM (cause After effects can never have enough). 8. Style / looks: Don't care at all about RGB or looks, I just want best bang for my buck. 9. Other details: I intend to buy this PC in the coming days. I don't mind playing the games in graphic settings (Medium) as long as they run smoothly. Please notice the components are more expensive in Europe when compared to North America. I don't have any experience with overclocking so I do not intend to do that. I made a build draft list (please keep in mind I'm a noob) and would love some recommendation about the parts I picked, if you guys would change something, etc. Here's the list and the approximate price of each part (local price): CPU: i7 13700F (430€) RAM: 128GB DDR5 5600MHz CL40 Kingston FURY (4x 32GB) (491€) GPU: Palit RTX 4070 12GB (non TI version) (640€) PSU: Seasonic FOCUS 850W 80 Plus Gold Full modular (140€) Motherboard: Asus TUF Gaming H770-Pro Wifi (217€) Main storage: Kingston KC3000 2280 m.2 SSD 2TB 3D TLC NVMe (for OS, apps and cache) (160€) Secondary storage: Samsung 870 SSD 8TB QVO MLC V-NAND SATA (430€) Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition (46€) Thermal paste: Noctua NT-H2 Premium grade (14€) Case: Cooler Master MasterBox 520 Mesh Black Out edition (97€) OS: Windows 11 Pro (160€) Additional fans: Arctic P12 120mm 1800RPM black (4€ each) Total: approximately 2850€ including the assembly at the store. Truly appreciate any advice. -
Budget (including currency): 1500 CHF Country: Swittzerland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I will use it for Gaming. Games: Escape from Tarkov, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us Other details Im Not the Type of guy that needs the Best Grafics, I don't need Wifi or Bluetooth I was already making thinking of something like this: This would cost me around 1200 CHF I would just need a case and a 600-700W power supply. On pcpartpicker.com it has a warning saying: "The MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor with BIOS version 7C91vA7. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, updating the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU." Do i need to worry about this or is it an easy fix? Should i choose a diffrent Motherboard or change the Build entirely because its not good anyway?

Budget: $2200-2500 CAD (or less) Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: UE5, Blender, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator...) Other details: I don't have much in terms of understanding what parts are "good" vs "bad" but I think for my price point something like a 3060 12gb could be good, I don't know? In terms of CPU I'm thinking of Ryzen 7 3800x3d and that's about all I have so far. This computer will be used for ultra realistic renders and game dev in UE5 and Blender, as well as for graphic design programs like the Adobe Cloud programs. I'm not looking for something pretty, if it works and works great than im happy. I want something that is going to be future proof and last a few years, without having to change new parts due to hardware limitations... Hopefully someone can give me some pointers or build recommendations. Thanks

I've never done this kind of update before, tinkering with electronics is something that's always seemed intimidating to me, but this is a necessary upgrade and a friend recommended I ask this here after helping me figure out what kind of SSD I need (a PCIe NVMe M.2) Basically what the title say, I wanna upgrade my Lenovo Ideapad 5 15ARE05. I don't have a particularly huge budget nor do I have that many options in my country, but Ive managed to narrow down my options to the Samsung 970 Evo Plus and the Samsung 980 Pro, both 2TB. I just wanna figure out if either one is ok, if there's anything fairly similar I could go for instead (my friend recommended the Crucial brand as well), if I could go for the Gen 4 now for futureproofing or if the Gen 3 is better, etc. Remember, Im very new to this, so even just looking up comparisons I dont see anything in particular that tells me "get that one!" other than "the 980 has higher numbers" so I kinda need outside help to figure it out.

Hi, I buit my PC on christmas and I noticed that this clip thing (sorry idk how it's called, I circled it on the picture below) isn't actually closed (up). Question: does the clip have to be up ? If so and considering that the GPU is fixed with the screws on the side, is it a big deal if it's not ? Issue: sometimes, my monitor makes a quick white flash, and I don't know if it comes from my GPU, my monitor or anything else and I also have some ghosting issues (the previous picture stays on the screen like you can see below, it's text form a website I just closed). What I already tried: I tried pushing gently on the GPU and also tried to pull the clip up manually but it doesn't work and I don't want to break anything. On the second PCIe slot it's closed, but there is noting in this second slot. These issues happen with both HDMI and DP. Sadly I don't have a spare monitor to test if it's caused by either of the components (monitor or GPU), and it doesn't happen very often (once every 3-5 days for the flashing and once a week for the ghosting), but when I'm using it late at night and there is a bright white flash it's really annoying. Maybe it's also the monitor settings (you can find them at the end). Monitor: iiymama GMaster GB2770QSU Windows 11 Pro 64 bit B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 (rev 1.1) AMD R5 5600X 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (3600MHz XMP profile 1) Radeon RX 6700XT SSD nvme (1TP) boot drive Corsair (650W 80+ gold) (dont remember the exact model)

Hi everyone, I am planning on building and mini-itx PC for college(cause my PC while not super old has a 2080 after all is just to dam big to move), and I have saved up enough to get an extreme overkill one(though not going to realistically lol), I am looking for a cooler, be it water or air cooler that would fit in a mini itx case assuming that a rtx 4080(the largest GPU I would reasonably put in the case) would be in the build along with a ryzen CPU(looking at the 7800 3xd, I believe that's its name). If you guys have any recommendations, please suggest them. As well as any power supplies recommendations that would power the above components and would fit as well. Here is my build at the moment https://pcpartpicker.com/list/G67WNc

Back-info: I recently upgraded from the I5 4460 to a R5 3600 and with it I also bought the Thermalright AX120. I let the motherboard, MSI B450-a Pro Max, do the overclocking on the CPU with the OC Genie 4 cause I'm a newbie when it comes to overclocking CPUs. (I have experience overclocking GPUs) It's running at 4.2Ghz. Ok so, since I had this new cooler, I wanted to test if would be able to cool the cpu while running Prime95. And to be fair it did pretty good (65c at ~80w), until the cpu shot up to 137w. I had HWINFO sensors running, but I didn't check it cause as soon as I saw the temperature and the watts up in heaven I stopped Prime95, so I can't tell the voltage it reached. However I had MSI Afterburned up, and it's where I saw what had happened (I was checking the PC and the fans and only noticed what was going on when I looked at the screen). Here's the "relevant" graphs from MSI Afterburner: So, can someone explain what happened? What BIOS settings should I change to keep this from happening again, but stay with a good clock speeds. I'll provide more info if needed.

Budget (including currency): 2500 euros Country: Lithuania Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: various games like witcher 3, GTA 5, Cyberpunk. Editing programs like solidworks, adobe premiere and similar Other details So I have did some research on many things and currently I have this list : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KYwxpH . I don't need any particular recommendations on what monitor or other peripherals but what I do need is some insight on part list. Is it all good, should I look into some other components and so on. Just to be sure I get price and quality balance. Main objective of this build is to last 5+ or even 10+ years with high performance and with ability to upgrade its components.
