Recently switched from Xbox to pc and having issues with just plugging and playing with my Xbox controller. There’s buttons that do multiple things at once, like 2 or 3 things bound to the same button and only 2 buttons work at a time on basically all games. Literally 2 buttons out of all will work. None of the keybinds are correct like jump is on rt on some games. I’ve messed around with steam controller settings, tried multiple cables and downloaded Xbox accessories. Only game that works absolutely fine is forza horizon 5. My pc doesn’t have Bluetooth built in so I’m using charger cables as a wire and took the batteries out. I even updated firmware through, Xbox accessories and checked through device manager for drivers so I’m unsure what the issue could be as my friends haven’t had any issues with theirs. Id prefer not to buy a new controller when mine works fine on Xbox. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I just wanna play some games p.s controller is wireless and I’m uk based if that helps at all idk

So I currently have this motherboard Z590 AORUS PRO AX, and I have 500 gb M.2 in storage. I'd like to upgrade to a minimum 4tb SSD. I'm new to PC stuff. My computer was made by a guy at a PC shop in my home town an hour and a half away. I'd like to start upgrading my PC myself to not deal with the hassle of bringing my PC all over the place. Upgrading my storage seems really simple to start, but I'm confused on how to tell what storage I can get, and how many slots I can actually use. The storage they recommended I get is SSD, 4TB M.2 NVME PCI-E G4 HIGH PERFORMANCE, but they are charging a bit more then I want to install it. My other dilemma is I want to upgrade to 12th gen Intel CPU, as it runs Unreal Engine 5, and Maya soooo much better for rendering. And as far as I can tell those are not compatible with this motherboard. Is it better to upgrade my motherboard and CPU first, then storage to make sure it is all compatible? What are good recommendations for a new motherboard if this is the case? I need to be able to run large Unreal files, and Maya files. As well as a lot of various heavy Adobe files, and then I'd like my games to run well as well so I can relax after work. My current setup: Z590 AORUS PRO AX 11th gen Intel 17-11700k 32 GB ram RTX 3080 Ti 850 power supply

Budget (including currency): roughly $800.00 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Regular zoom meetings, gaming, small productivity Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I already have a 600 watt Thermaltake 80+ Gold Power Supply. Also already have 4x8 G 3200 MHz DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RAM. Used these to upgrade my current SFF refurbished office PC (HP Elitedesk 800 G2 with an i5 6500) Thinking of buying towel my build Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow Motherboard: Prime B660 Plus D4 CPU: i5 12600k RAM: 4x8 G 3200 DDR4 CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 (dual fan/ tower 6 heat pipes, comes with LGA 1700 socket I believe) Power Supply: 600 watt Thermaltake 80+ Gold Extra Cooling: full allotment of 6x120 mm Case fans Storage: 256 Gig SSD with Windows 10 Pro plus 5 Tb external HDD Game drive GPU: (currently have but going to sell- RX 6400 Form factor version) thinking of upgrading to RX 580 (older but cheaper with decent reviews and performance from what I can tell) or RX 6600 or 6650 xt if worth it. Open to other options. I run a dual monitor setup both 1080p For gaming I like a lot of RPG, MMO games (RuneScape, SWTOR, Star Trek Online) as well as RTS like the Total War Series (Napoleon, Empire, Shogun 2, Rome and Warhammer), Ultimate General, and Turn-Based strategy/ Base Building Games. Also enjoy games like Battlefront, Battlefield, State of Decay. Haven’t bought anything yet but been looking, researching and shopping, but I’d like to save more money if I can while also maybe potentially moving it to where it’ll be worth it. looking for feedback on what’s good, what to improve, for my first time plus any tips. Thanks a lot, In advance !!

Hi guys, I would like to ask about this build. I ran into some problems such as Warning! Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions. Note:The NZXT Kraken X52 Liquid CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard. Note:The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled. Note:Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders. Can anyone help me like adjust my components. Thanks! https://pcpartpicker.com/user/BryanZeraph/saved/HNvsXL

Im building a PC for video editing (Premiere pro, After effects ) and some 3d work (C4d, blender, Octane). My Macbook pro just isn't cutting it anymore. Im in the US and have a budget of 2,500-2,700 including a monitor and keyboard. I want to use two 1920 x 1080, 23"monitors. I want to be able to upgrade to get into GPU rendering eventually as well as get into some light overclocking. Ok, so yesterday I was doing sh*t on my laptop, you know, watching YouTube, playing Doom mods, stuff like that. Today, I woke up, booted up my laptop, and, for whatever reason, it just keeps freezing ever second and a half or so for two to three seconds. I tried updating my drivers, restarting, checking my BIOS, nothing has helped. So, can anyone here help me? It’s an HP Pavilion n028us, with 6 gigs of RAM, with around 5 and a half gigs unused, running on Windows 10.

I am building my first pc this year and just needed some help on choosing between cpus. I know I want Ryzen but not sure which one to get for a single gaming/streaming set up. I was looking at the 3700x 3900x and 3950x but not sure which to get. I want good fps with still holding the ability to stream at a high quality and not drop frames.
-
After removing SATA cable and reconnecting it back again, I noticed that I dropped few fps in certain games benchmark. I'm a newb when it comes to PC and it was my first time removing SATA port and installing Windows on my own Did I caused some short circuit while removing SATA cable? I was extremely cautious and didn't caused any extra force while re-plugging the port but wasn't I wearing any anti static wrist band. Are PC hardware this fragile and what precautions should I take so this problem won't occur in future. My specs is- RTX 2080 GPU Ryzen 5 2600X CPU MSI B450 Carbon Pro AC Motherboard Corsair Vengeance 16 Gigs Ram

So lately I had to format and reinstall windows multiple times, probably 2-4 times because I'm still somewhat newb when it comes to PC, my PC is a pre-build and had everything installed. First I messed up device drivers and then downloaded many motherboard bloatware without knowing. It was a learning experience for sure but did this cost my SSD some harm? My SSD is Samsung 970 Pro 500GB and it had already written 6tb worth of data.

My Motherboard audio driver requires me to use Nahimic and its really buggy software. I was messing around with some settings and once i increased my mic boost to max and closed the app, after opening it again it was stuck in loading. I waited for few mins but it was still stuck so I rebooted my PC, doing that fixed Nahimic and is working fine. So far i haven't noticed any problem but i'm worried that because it was stuck in loading, it might have caused some corrupted file or anything similar. Should I be worried about this even thought it is working normally? Are Windows application this easy to break? Uninstalling and reinstalling this application isn't an option because it's extremely hard to uninstall, If I want to then I also have to uninstall Realtek audio driver and delete many registry files which is kinda scarry for a PC newb. There are many post about how hard it is to completely uninstall this app. Should I just ignore the fact that it was stuck in loading since it's working normally right now? I posted the same question in MSI Forum and got this response. "It happens to me sometimes. What you can do instead of restarting is stop the Nahimic service, end all Nahimic processes running and restart the Nahimic service."

Hey guys! So I'm about to upgrade my "old" pc, which currently has a i5-4460 on a Z97 pc mate motherboard, I'm getting to the point where my CPU can't keep up with the current games, when I want to max stuff out with my GTX 1070. First of all I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading to a new motherboard with the benefits of PCIe 3.0. If I'm not to upgrade i'll simply go for a i7-4790k/. Or should I go buy a new motherboard + CPU + Ram, I know this is a more expensive set but I don't think I have any intentions of upgrading my pc anymore for a while if I'm going with this. If going with this option, should I go for the new AMD Ryzen 1700? Or an intel build? My last concern is, if going for i7-4790k or AMD Ryzen 1700, if my BloodFreezer 510LC liquid cooler will be enough for the i7-4790k? And better than the stock cooler supplied with the Ryzen 1700? And will it fit the new motherboards? Or is the sizing different? Thanks if even just answering one or few of my many newbie questions! Appreciate all help I can get from you pros!

I used the Asus 5-way optimization (Dual Intelligent Processor 5) app to set the overclock parameters. Other than that I turned off Intel Rapid Storage Technology in the BIOS first, then uninstalled the program. See attached pictures. Does virtualization need to be on? When I run realbench, the scores range from 120k to 80k, and I usually get the "unable to parse system specs" error. My post on ROG forums didn't get much traction, so I posted here. What steps do I need to take in order to make sure my rig is running as fast as possible, while stable?

Budget NAS out of an old XPS410, worth my time?
fishnub posted a topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
EDIT: I have decided to go a head and give this NAS idea a shot. I will update this thread as I go along, primarily for my own sanity. First and foremost, I am way behind the times on technology. I found myself in need of a new computer and how no clue what I was looking at. Naturally I went to YouTube for answers and found Linus and was saved! In my house we have multiple devices and the kids are beginning to have their own storage needs as well. I have a huge problem in my house, too many storage devices. Back to LTT and I learned about this beautiful solution called a NAS . So, with that aside I never spend money that I do not have to, I want to be sure this will actually work well for my family. To test I have an old Dell XPS410 that has been in my attic for around 5 years due to a corrupt OS. As this is my first attempt I am sure I will have tons of questions. Here is what I know for sure about the donor rig: Mother Board: Dell E210882 Processor: Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8GHz (LGA775 socket and can support Pentium 4 processors, with speeds of 2.8,3.0,3.2,3.4,3.6, or 3.8 GHz) Memory: 2 GB installed, but has 4 slots that can each handle up to 1GB Compatible with PC2-3200 (400 MHz) or PCs-4300 (533MHz) DDr2 non-ECC and unbuffered SDRAM. Maximum RAM: 4GB Drive Bays: 2 Video card: NVidia GeForce GTS 450 Network Card: Conexant RD01-D850 56K V.92 PCI Data/Fax Modem Goals: 1. See if I can figure out how to do this. 2. Local storage instead of 15+ separate storage devices. 3. I currently only need about 1TB of storage, not for music but for photos and documents. So 2 drives at RAID 1 would be fine. Questions: 1. Will this work, or should I just come off the $$ and start from scratch? 2. If I am able to make this work, could it actually use FreeNAS? I know it likes more RAM that I can install. 3. This M/B has 6 SATA slots; can I use them for cache? 4.Is it smarter to go ahead and build a NAS out of better hardware and upgrade to more drives later down the road. In the future I want to build a true NAS with multiple drives to keep video files and all the works. I merely want to use this as an educational tool before I spend a bunch of cash. Here is a current Photo of the M/B taken with my trusty potato. -
I've never been in a position to buy a bleeding edge GPU until now. I have a 1080ti on order, and I'm just curious as to how much is the usual amount of time, in situations like this, for nvidia to get more inventory to the market? I'm waiting to build my new rig until this is available, so I'm anxious. Thanks

Hey guys, I am currently building a pc but it's the first time I have ever tried custom watercooling. Here is my case : http://www.corsair.com/en/obsidian-series-900d-super-tower-case My plan is to have a 480 radiator in the top of my case which will attach to my CPU, a 360 radiator in the front, and a 140mm fan in the back. I don't know if it's optimal but I think it would look cool (Do I even need that 360 rad in the front?). I am going to have 2 Titan X Pascals in SLI so I have two EKWB Waterblocks (https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-titan-x-pascal-nickel) with a terminal for them to prevent excess tubing (https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-terminal-dual-serial) and two backplates for them (https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-titan-x-pascal-backplate-black) I am new to this so I want SOFT TUBING but I'm a little uncertain as to how I want it all connected, and I have no idea how many fittings to buy or even what kind will work for what I have. SO What Pump and Reservoir should I use, and with the info above, how many fittings/what kind of fittings, how much tubing/what kind of tubing, and how should I run it? Reservoir->Pump->Etc...

Hello LinusTechTips community. I'm new here at forums but I usually watch linus from youtube videos and learned that this forums actually helps people with recommendations and advice for their build plan. I don't really have a lot of knowledge (a newb) when it comes to pc building (bottleneck, required ram mhz for ryzen to run at its most efficient and effective state, etc). So I'm asking for your help since this forum is the most reliable one that I can ask for build planning. Budget and Location I live in the philippines... Yeah... Pc components here are so expensive. My budget is around 600$-800$ = 30,536Php-40,715Php. This is the the most trusted and cheapest shop that I can get the parts to use for the build https://www.facebook.com/pg/pchub/shop/?ref=page_internal But if any of you guys are from the Philippines, I would be happy if you could recommend a much cheaper shop where I could get the parts from. AIM The system will be used for ms office stuffs, little bit of photoshop, very light rendering (in the future), I also use virtualbox for running office tasks that actually requires a different version of OS to run(windows 7) but I would like my system to run at windows 10. And a little bit of e-sports title games and mmorpg(in the future). Monitors I'm planning on doing a dual screen setup which can run at 1920x1080p for maximum multitasking so if you can recommend me some 20"-23" inches good monitors that is bang for the buck I would be happy and thankful. (Budget for the dual monitor isn't included on the said budget) Other reminders: I would like to use a Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 5 Non RGB Acrylic for the case, could fill up all the fan spaces because I'll be using the system more than 14 hrs a day, a liquid AIO will be sweet but because of the budget I'll just stick with just air cooling, it would be sweet if the build is a minimalist black build, and I'm willing to add some extra cash for custom sleeves to make the build look clean and neat. Fans could be a white led fan just to add some lightning effects for the build. That's it, hope that you guys from inustechtips community can help me achieve a decent first build that I'll ever have

Alrighty, currently I'm using a 2012 (I believe) BlackWidow Ultimate, I've had it for like 3-4 years at this point, and I'm tired of the size and aesthetic of it. It's way too big for my current desk and my plans for it, so I'm looking at 60 percent form factor, I won't miss the num pad or arrows. My problem here is finding everything I want in a keyboard. I'm prepared to build my own if I can get some help sourcing in stock parts that are compatible, not scared of solder, just scared of waiting for shipping too long, I'm incredibly impatient and I hate waiting on group buys and pre-orders. Budget is up to $150~ without keycaps 60 percent layout, RGB out of the box or a compatible PCB if building my own Pink/Purple Case, incline is workable with none or a lot, my hands can adapt to either, at least a bit would be best though. (material not majorly important, aluminum or translucent plastic/acrylic preferred though for sure), Cherry/similar Red switches won't be hard to find, hopefully on one of the same sites I'm already ordering from, and I can source my own keycaps easily enough. Stable wireless compatibility if possible with RGB, if not, that's fine, I can live with wired, I'd prefer pretty over wireless. Building my own seems like it's going to be the only way to get what I want out of this and I love taking on new projects.. I'm so sick of looking at this black keyboard with blue leds and the numpad/macro/F1-12 keys that gather dust, I want a keyboard that I smile at when I sit down, help me get there? I just don't want to order a bunch of stuff to find out it's overpriced or incompatible with something else I've gotten. Also suggestions of a good cheap soldering iron would be nice too, I haven't owned one in years and years. <3

Hello! My PC specs are in my signature, and I'm currently using a Samsung PX2370, and it's got me feeling a bit dated, I've got a few scratches in the middle and top-middle of the panel that have been disrupting me while gaming on occasion here and there, and this is prompting me for a nice upgrade. I have 25 2/8ths inches of width in my monitor cubby in my desk to play with, and height/depth isn't really an issue, so I'd prefer a 27 inch panel. I'm looking at a budget of about $500, with capacity to go slightly over if it's a great buy. Latency is important, as I play a lot of competitive games like Street Fighter and Tekken, where frame perfect combos and punishes are not uncommon at all. 1920x1080 vs 2560x1440? I'm sure my GPU could handle 1440p maxed out on most of my games and I'd like to get the best out of that. I do tend to play a lot of very pretty games and want them to really shine. 60hz vs 144hz? Is the difference really that noticeable? My research tells me yes, but I would love some practical reasons to spring for it. Gsync? I hate screen tearing but part of me wonders if I get so much of it because of the age of my current display, I'm not sure. It sounds like a great benefit, are gsync monitors bound to 144hz refresh rate though? I think so? Built in speakers are in no way shape or form required. No thanks lol. I would prefer a somewhat adjustable stand with vertical movement and tilt, no VESA mount required though. A curved monitor would be really nice, but likely out of the price range if I'm being real with myself. Who knows though, that's why I'm asking here. I think that covers most of what you need to know about what I'm looking for? Throw me some suggestions!

Hello, everyone, I'm planning a build and I just want some feedback on how things are with my build. ex. bottlenecks, overkill, that might not fit, etc. This is my first time building something of this magnitude and price range, so I want to be sure that I have all my chickens in a row on this. Budget of 1300 USD MAX 1400 USD MINIMAL RGB Play games like GTA V Some but not a lot of video editing (not the main focus) be reasonably quiet (it doesn't have to be Ninja silent) I don't think I'm willing to go lower than the 1070 for GPU <("."<) Here is what I have picked out. CPU: Intel - Core i5-8600K 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Corsair - H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: ASRock - Z370 Killer SLI/ac ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Memory: Kingston - FURY 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory Storage: Western Digital - Green 240GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: Zotac - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Mini Video Card Case: Cooler Master - MasterBox Lite 5 ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA - B3 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit

My first time on the forum so please forgive me if i dont explain whats what right away. I am wanting to install my own rack mount server system into my house for mass storage and program sharing. The reason for this is that i just want to do it and have access to the hardware, be it outdated, for a very good price. My issue is that other then slapping in drives, setting the raid, and installing windows server 2012 on every machine i dont know what i am doing. Honestly i would love to have one server control the others so as to not loose room to os but i dont know how to do that. All of the systems have network boot options but even that is unknown to my. Someone please help. I have looked online but everything just super glosses over the steps and that isnt a help at all. If you want to know what units i have for this project just ask.

I've been watching LTT for some time now, getting addicted to building my own PC so finally started planning on building my first PC. Even though it's my first build, I'm actually building it for my brother. So me and my brother were both in the U.S. Marines, when I would come back from deployment he would have to deploy like a month later so never got a chance to really game together after we joined. Now that he's out and I'm in the Reserves now, we actually live right next door to each other (I rent out one half of a duplex and he rents out the other). I remember back in the day playing computer games with my brother (Like 2moons and Cabal online days), and I've kind of missed it. So I decided to build a computer for my brother. We both live in California, USA. I had a budget of about 700$, been planning out the build for a little while and well today is his birthday so I'm going to end up buying it very soon (plus going to a little LAN party at my buddies house and hopefully now he can come too). The planned build: CPU - Intel i3 6100 GPU - Asus Strix GTX 1050ti MOBO - Asus Z170 Pro Gaming (full ATX) Cooler - Corsair H55 PSU - EVGA 450 Full Modular RAM - 8 gigs Crucial Balistix DDR4 2400 Storage - 1TB HDD Case - Corsair - Spec 2 (Red) Drive - LG UH12NS40 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XXB9HN I would've loved to go all out on his build but sadly I couldn't, he couldn't afford to help pitch in for it and I couldn't go to much further then 700$ USD maybe 100$ more but that's about it. I just missed gaming with him and that's as far as I can go right now. Any help and feed back on the build, what should I look out for when doing my first build, any input on peripherals to get, any good guides on first time boot up that's very dummie proof?
