Budget: $2500-ish Country: Israel (newegg though) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Half Live Alyx, Boneworks, Unity VR Development This is more or less the spec I want to get https://newegg.io/e9e72e6 This is what I came up with after watching many many build youtube vids. I still feel a little at lost with all the small details that may need to be taken into consideration. The build is intended to be somewhat high end, no water cooling or overclocking in mind (except for RAM that should be >3000) but I don't really want to waste money on components that can be replaced with cheaper components that are of similar quality. So basically, this post is more a sanity check to see the build makes sense, and perhaps get suggestions for changes/improvements. Re the RTX 3080 in the spec, this is more wishful thinking at the moment. I may end up buying one at ridiculous prices Thanks in advance to any kind soul that will take the time to provide me with some insights :)

Hi I bought a prebuild gaming pc, for some reason it was cheaper to buy it prebuild then building it myself got to love the GPUmarket. Anyway it came with the following specs: NZXT H511 Gigabyte B550M DS3H AMD Ryzen 5 5600X AMD Wraith Stealth Cooler HyperX Fury 16GB (3200MHz) Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 3070 Twin Edge Now I heard that this cooler is not the best for this CPU so I'm looking to replace it with one under a 100 Euro's. And since this is my first in time owning a pc I don't know what to get. Do u guys have any recommendations that would fit in this pc, preferably in the color black and rgb would be nice but ofc not necessary TY

Hi everyone, I have had problems with my PC and I'm going to change motherboard and processor. Since I'm going with AMD from Intel I know that I should do a fresh install of windows but I don't now how to proceed. How do I do it? Do I leave the SSD as it is until I build the new PC and once it is all set I do a clean installation from windows itself? Do I format the SSD somehow and then install Windows from a USB flash drive? I don't know if there is a particularly good way to do it. I appreciate every take you can suggest. Thanks for your time

Hello all! I am currently looking into moving parts from an old PC into a new case for a friend to use, but I am going to install new hard drives. I have a Windows boot drive but I am not sure if I can install windows using the original key, or if I need to purchase a new copy. I am using all of the same components minus the hard drives. At some point I thought I heard that a windows key/install is tied to the motherboard but I am unsure. Just figuring out the out of pocket cost. Thank you!

Budget (including currency): USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games: WoW, R6S, Destiny 2, PUBG, Apex. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So all I have is a Corsair MMO mouse and a keyboard. I have been basically playing only MTGO on a PC but with the price and just getting older I think it is time to jump to PC. Been a dirty console pleb for the past 15 years though. My biggest hurtle is without a doubt knowing what I need and what almost anything means. I have tried reading artcles and looking at prefab things but since this is post 2016 and facts and opinions are indecipherable I am here. I mostly am looking for something that is moderately future proof. Can run 2 monitors at once and won't struggle to play any of the listed games at normal graphics. I mean streaming is something I am interested in but it would just be like streaming MTGO (Magic the gathering online) which is about 200 years old and had no graphical requirements lol. ** Forgot budget. Well I mean preferably I would like be below $2000. I only work in autoparts so its not like I have a surplus of spare change lol. Please help.

System Specs: Ryzen 5 3600XT Sabrent Rocket 500gb M.2 16gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge Wifi Gigabyte 2060 OC 6gb Be Quiet Power 9 600w Issue: When I try to boot windows for the 1st time, (from a usb I made with the media creation tool), I get as far as entering the initial options, i.e. windows 10 home 64 bit, language, I'm not using a licence key currently. It copies over the files and then restarts. I get to the splash screen with the white dotted wheel and it freezes here. Tried a few options to fix it, the repeats seem to be filling up the drive as the free space drops each time I retry, (repeats being stored in windows.old). I reformatted the partition to clear it, but for some reason I'm missing 0.2gb in the partition. Total space is 468.2 Free space is 468.0. Not sure if this how it should be as I thought anything system related is stored in a separate partition? I then started getting a new error when I get to the part where I select the partition to install to, even though there is 468gb free space it says there isn't enough space to install windows "Setup was unable to use the existing partition because it does not contain the required free space". HELP!......

Hello, so I've been working with PCs for a long time, been watching a lot of builds too. Recently I decided it was time to upgrade my old PC (it was a Dell prebuilt... yeah I know) and I put on a PC Part Picker list. I use my Pc mostly as a Plex media server, but I want to game more on it and am currently waiting for stocks to "normalize" to replace my old GTX 970 with an RTX 3060ti or 3070. I got the parts gradually over a month and started building it about a week ago. The build went really well and I had no issues on that part. The real problem is with my RAM... it won't consistently overclock to the correct 3200MHz. I say "consistently" because after messing around with the BIOS I do managed to make it work a couple of times, but if I have to restart the PC for some reasons, it'll go back to the base 2133MHz. I went online to look up and see if I'm the only one with this issue (and it looks like I'm not) and there seems to have a plethora of solutions to that problem, but sadly, none of them worked for me. I tried going into the BIOS and manually input the memory clock to 32.00, I manually selected the memory profile, I manually ajusted the DRAM voltage anywhere between 1.35 to 1.39V and I even tried the overclock method using Thaiphoon and DRAM Calculator but nothing worked. That's why I'm turning to this forum. PC Part Picker list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/83TbdD (This build is mostly intended as a Plex media server, that's why I went with the Ryzen 7 and 32gb of Ram) I don't think the Part Picker list has the exact same RAM I bought so I'll leave the model and link for the specific RAM Model: F4-3200C16D-32GTZR https://www.newegg.ca/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232748?Item=N82E16820232748

LTT fans I need your help!!!! I have 2 evga 1070 hybrids in sli. They are both running the same bios version, 86.04.3b.00.70. The drivers are 27.21.14.6109 One of the built in fans runs around 1070 rpm and the other runs at 6050 rpm I am using this 6050 rpm one as my main gpu. BTW both of them say they are at 28% fan speed even though the rpms are so different. I am using techpowerup gpu-z to see this. I have tried evga precision xoc, cupid, msi afterburner. I also installed a bios that evga sent me to put on them but nothing helps. I can't change the fan curve no matter what I try. I've had these cards for 2 years and it's always been this way its just so so so loud i can't take it. Please, please any advice besides get a better graphics card lol! Thank you!!!

This is my first time building a new PC. The last PC I had is now 15 years old (with 312 MB DDR-2 RAM and an 8 GB HDD Pentium 4). I don't have a very high budget, say about 900~1000 dollars excluding the graphics card. I want my PC to be RTX 3070 compatible (for the day it finally comes back in stock). Since Black Friday is coming soon, I was planning on getting parts brought in from the US (Dad's friend in New York). What should my build be like and what'd be the best way for me to cash in on Black Friday (as a foreigner all I know is that there are some really crazy deals in this time). The parts I have decided on so far are: AMD Ryzen 3600 Processor + 16 GB RAM https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4104200 ASUS Prime X570-P Ryzen 3 AM4 https://www.newegg.com/asus-prime-x570-p/p/N82E16813119199 Future-proofing isn't really a priority for me, as my parents refused to upgrade my old PC for 15 years, I want something that my little brother can game on without worrying about games no longer running on it for at least the next 5 years. A 512 GB - 1 TB storage is fine, unless there's a really good sale. I'm pretty lost on the other parts, specially the case. Pardon me for my indecisiveness. I'll most likely get only one shot at the PC build.

Budget (including currency): 1500 USD (before shipping and import taxes, flexible) Country: Israel Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly overwatch, as well as some other indie and AAA games. In addition I will be using it quite a lot for AI and machine learning training - tensorflow, pytorch and all that good stuff. Other details: Currently my only machine is some i7 hp laptop from 2016, so I am looking for a big upgrade. However, I am planning to keep using the laptop (until it dies) cause it's convenient to bring with me to university. In the past couple weeks I've been looking a lot into different parts and I think I have reached a pretty good selection: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bvBgKp CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 3.4 GHz 8-Core Processor ($225.49 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master MASTERLIQUID ML240L RGB V2 65.59 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($84.00 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI B550-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard ($139.99 @ Amazon) Memory: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($99.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($139.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Zotac GAMING Twin Edge OC GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR 8 GB Video Card ($439.99 @ Newegg Sellers) Power Supply: Corsair RM750x (2021) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($109.81 @ Amazon) Monitor: ViewSonic VX2768-2KP-MHD OMNI 27.0" 2560 x 1440 144 Hz Monitor ($189.99 @ Best Buy) Total: $1429.25 Generated by PCPartPicker 2022-10-20 13:27 EDT-0400 If I'm being honest, I don't actually know exactly how much I want to spend and I'm pretty flexible, but I don't like spending money for nothing. I would say the two most important aspects to me are performance per dollar and recency. More detailed opinions about parts and other miscellaneous stuff: My plan currently is to mass buy all (or most) of the parts form amazon. I want a machine that will perform well at 1440p, and I will probably make a close to full upgrade in about 4 years (maybe with a gpu upgrade in between). I will be using both windows and linux on this machine. I still have not decided if I want to do any overclocking, but probably a very minor one if I do. You may have noticed there is no case in the specifications. This is because every case below 150$ i've looked at, getting it to Israel costs more than the case itself, so I will be getting it locally. I am open to suggestions As I said there will be machine learning training done, which is why I went with 8 cores of ryzen. I don't think more than 8 cores will be necessary and the 5700x is very new and has a good price, and only requires 65w of power, which I like. I considered going with AM5, but (contrary to my opinion about recency) I don't like working with something that still doesn't have that much information on it. The fact that it doesn't accept ddr4 doesn't help its case. The 3060ti looks like a good option for its price, having 4800 cuda cores and 8gb Vram. The way I see it, the next meaningful upgrade from it (at least in terms of vram) would be the 3080, which goes for twice as much money. The 240mm liquid cooler is probably overkill, but I don't mind it that much. Now we get to the motherboard, which has been the most difficult part for me to choose. I think this b550a should be enough, but I really don't have much of an idea. I do want wifi though, which this specific model doesn't have, so maybe a network card will do (don't know how to pick those either). I was also wandering whether it's worth it to wait for black Friday/cyber monday as november is coming up. The cost of the cpu has been going up so I don't know if it's better to snatch it up now or wait for potential deals. In conclusion, any and every feedback is appreciated, and I am open to suggestions.

Hi all, Just found this group via Techquickie's Youtube page & he seems to GUARANTEE I will find the answer here so I thought i'd give it a go! I have an old Asus Essentio CM6730 bought from new with an Intel Celeron G530 2 core CPU as it came (about 10 years ago now). This pc runs great & all I've ever done in that time is upgrade the Ram, GPU & the HDD. I want to upgrade the CPU for more performance (pc is only used for image editing currently but want to start doing some video editing on it). I don't use for gaming at all. I'm having trouble figuring out what Intel CPU will be compatible after hours of looking on the Asus site, Benchmark & loads of Youtube videos I'm completely lost! These are the specs that I have & would sooo appreciate any help here so I can get this old faithful pc up to speed (pardon the pun)! Asus Essentio CM6730 - shop bought in the UK around 2010. Intel Celeron G530 @ 2.4 ghz (codename Sandy Bridge)?? Socket 1155 LGA Mainboard: Asustek computer inc. CM6630_CM6730_CM6830 BUS Specs: PCI Express 2.0(5.0gt/s) Bios: American Megatrends Version 0510 I'd like to find a used i5 or even i7 on line to save money but open to all ideas.. Any help is massively appreciate for this newb to pc upgrades! Thanks in advance.

So I’ve been on PcPartPicker for a few weeks now looking for parts that I will use to build my server. I’ll be specific, money isn’t really a problem for me so I could just set the filter to highest $ and select whatever is first. But I’m not sure about what parts I exactly need. Primarily I would want the server to run “Roguelike adventures and dungeons” (a Minecraft mod) for at least 5 players at the same time at 10 chunk render distance. I tried running it on single-player with some stuff removed so I could at least play it on 30fps on my i5-9400F. Unfortunately my old cpu could only run it so good until it starts to stutter 20 seconds in, so my guess would be that I need a VERY powerful cpu. Second is the case, if the CPU is powerful enough to run the game for 5 people at the same time I would need a really good and probably a big cooler to fit into my case, additionally the case would have to have at least 8 3.5” slots in it. Storage shouldn’t be a problem for me except I have to make the server boot on by a ssd and store the rest of the game data on hard drives. Sorry for not mentioning it earlier but having a GPU isn’t really ideal for me so I’d prefer having integrated graphics in the CPU. The motherboard should have 10 6/GBs SATA ports (I can go for 8), and hopefully have at least 128gb capacity for RAM. The RAM shouldn’t be a problem, but the speed at which it operates would be ideal for a big server like that. I’m not sure if PCPartPicker is right about calculating how many watts this PC/server needs but as far as I see a 500w psu would be good. The server would also work as a storage dump for photos or videos. I don’t want a server rack or a shelf, I want it to fit into a pc case so I can at least have it somewhat mobile. I’m not asking to be gifted or sent money, I’m asking for advice for selecting prefect parts for my pc/server.

So.... I am a bit of a techie, built my own pcs multiple times, trouble shoot them, worked as an "it handyman" for a while, setting up printers, computers, fixing them, etc. .. The ONLY thing I haven't done yet is mess with in depth networking stuff... its kinda scary tbh. I have some down time at work (no work) so I decided to mess with networking. My home network is an asus wifi6 router with another router in AiMesh for backyard (I can turn it off and use a repeater if it will interfere with stuff). There are 2 desktops connected by ethernet, everything else on wifi: couple laptops, couple smart tvs, a couple tablets and phones. I have a spare older HP laptop (win7, core i7, with 16gb ram) that has no battery, that I was going to try running some VMs on/ pihole/docker etc. So far I have cleaned it, (fresh reset, but still win 7) and I can install any operating system/etc to make it work. My questions are 1. What's best way to run pihole, (should j get a raspberry pi, or is it ok to run on old laptop-> speed ,etc) 2. What's a good os that I can run VirtualBox or docker on? All I'm going to use it for is running pihole for now. 3. Is there anything to watch out for when running pihole? (I can spin up a separate wifi that runs pihole if it will interfere with work on main wifi.) TL:DR Advise me how I can get rid of ads on smart TVs and couple kids tablets.
