  1. Budget (including currency): $5000 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: presentation software for multiple large screens Other details I'm building a PC for my church. I've been out of the building game for a while so I need some help on picking out the parts. I need to run 2 large screens @4K 60hz (or faster), a 4K monitor, and a 1080P screen. We need something that's going to last for years and be very reliable. We allowed a fairly generous budget for future proofing. Don't really care about RGB or fancy stuff. Preferrably air cooled for reliability as it may run for some time unsupervised and with multiple users. Budget doesn't have to include peripherals, but it would better if we could include it. Thank you guys! Edit: I want to include some extra details. Our presentation software needs about 20gb of memory just for itself plus the OS and other things. We have the top of the line iMac currently with 64gb ram and I've seen it over 90% usage. The processor and graphics can't keep up as it glitches constantly. Our software becomes more and more power hungry with every update so we want to go all out for the future. I9 processor or equivalent. 7200mbs/t ram. Roughly a 4080 graphics card or similar.
  2. Budget (including currency): Over £2,000 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1080 gaming/maybe 1440p in future, streaming/recording (maybe) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): First Off … Hi everyone! Hope your all doing Good and Keeping well enough. Hoping I've put this in the right area, never know with different/new forums. So first off I need people to understand that I am Physically Disabled and I am not able to build a Computer, so i have to rely on only companies that custom build, which have limited chooses in components, and I can't/would not be able to maintain a water cooled system, bad enough cleaning one as it. Anyway with that said I have just brought myself a New gaming PC from a UK company called PCspecialist My current gaming build is CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7GHz 12 Core CPU – 4.8GHz Turbo Motherboard: X570 Aorus Elite Graphics Card: NVidia GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 GPU Memory: 32GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX 3600MHz (2x16GB) Primary Storage Drive: 1 TB M.2 drive CPU Cooling: Be Quiet! DARK ROCK Slim CPU Cooler PSU: Corsair RM850 850W 80 Plus Gold Full Modular PSU I have just brought I new computer which is: Processor AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) Motherboard GIGABYTE X670 AORUS ELITE AX 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB) Graphics Card 12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 SUPER - HDMI, DP, LHR 1st M.2 SSD Drive 2TB SAMSUNG 990 PRO M.2, PCIe 4.0 NVMe (up to 7450MB/R, 6900MB/W) Power Supply CORSAIR 750W RMe SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET Processor Cooling DeepCool AK620 ZERO DARK I am Happy with the what i have done, with some buying nerv's as it goes but kind of what to know what people in general think to the Upgrade.... Good/Bad please explain why and what you would have done diff. Oh and I am truly hoping when the 50 NVidia series comes out (next year??) I'll be able to upgrade the GPU with this new system... just have to save those penny's again.
  3. Budget: $2000 Programs or workloads that it will be used for: an excess amount of internet browser tabs, beam.ng, GTA6, tarkov, 3dsmax, blender, CNC programs, mainly heavy gaming looking to build my forever computer, $2000 budget, would be dope to keep it around $1500 I have no parts leftover from my last computer so I'm starting over. I have a ton of free time with how the market is so I'll be using the computer alot for the next year or so, possibly daily. also any monitor suggestions? was thinking maybe a regular monitor then a monitor that's tilted, whatever they're called. also if you know anything about mouses, keyboards, headsets let me know lol, I don't have a setup at all currently, thanks
  4. Hello everyone! I've finally upgraded my good ol' trusty 1060 6Gb to a 4070 Super and it's also time for a monitor upgrade. I'm currently using a BenQ 1080p 60hz monitor and I'd like to upgrade to a 1440p preferably 27" but I have no idea what is good or not. My budget is 300~€ maybe 350€ if it's really a must have. I also got some links from the website I'm gonna purchase one with some of the popular ones in those specs and the price that I would be able to get it at. 5. Hi guys, I need help from you! So in some time I am gonna buy a new laptop and I only have two choices in my country, but I need someone to give me some advice on which one is better. Here are the laptops: 1. Asus ROG Strix G16 (G614JU-N3186) 2. Asus ROG Strix G16 (G614JV-N4072) The main difference between these laptops is the GPU and CPU. One has i5-13450HX and RTX 4060 8GB, while the other one has i7-13650HX and RTX 4050 6GB. I am quite knowledgeable about the difference in GPUs but I am not sure if there's a huge difference in CPU. I am a Graphics Designer and mainly I will use this laptop for work obviously, but I also play video games as well. I am working in Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and sometimes in Blender (but only modelling and NOT rendering), that's why I am more thinking about the Core i5 with 4060 in it, rather than i7 with 4050, but it will be great if you could give me a kind of review of how much difference is in the CPUs. The price difference is so low that both of the laptops are in my budget. Just remember that I only need a decision between these two laptops, don't list me other laptops that are "better" and cheaper, these are the only laptops that are available in my country (for my budget) and I am not considering buying the laptop online (for example Amazon or eBay). Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
  6. This post explores the current state of CPU and GPU architecture, the limitations we're facing, and the potential future developments in the computing world. It delves into topics like Moore's Law, transistor size, and the challenges of quantum effects, while also discussing the potential for new materials, manufacturing processes, and designs to overcome these hurdles. also contemplates the idea of having powerful computers as small as our phones and acknowledges the difficulties humans have in predicting the future. Let's be honest, we are starting to hit the limit of GPU and CPU architecture improvements. For those who know Moore's Law, it's an observation that the number of transistors in a computer chip doubles every two years or so. We're seeing that cards and chips don't have the same rapid improvement as they used to; for example, a CPU from 2000 and 2005 has a significant performance difference and a larger overclocking headroom. But now, look at the 13th and 14th generation Intel chips. Cards are still seeing performance improvements, unlike CPUs. I don't know when they will start to progress more slowly. How big can GPUs get? (The 40×× NVIDIA cards are massive, and if we continue like this, they'll become even bigger.) We used to have computers as large as a room that packed a few kilobytes or megabytes of power, and now we have gaming PCs in the corner of our rooms. Transistors were massive, but now they're really small—currently, they're roughly 7-10 nanometers in size, and they're on track to shrink further to 5 nanometers.. As transistors continue to shrink, they approach the scale of individual atoms. At these dimensions, quantum effects become more pronounced and can lead to issues such as quantum tunneling and increased leakage current. (Quantum tunneling occurs when electrons pass through barriers they normally wouldn't be able to), due to their wave-like properties. This can lead to increased power consumption and reduced stability in the transistors. To mitigate these quantum effects, new materials, manufacturing processes, and transistor designs are being researched. For example, Intel has been developing 3D transistor designs like FinFET and Gate-All-Around (GAA) to improve control over the flow of current in the transistors, reducing leakage and improving stability. Other companies and researchers are exploring alternative materials and technologies, such as carbon nanotubes, graphene, and 2D materials, in an effort to create smaller, more efficient, and more stable transistors. We all know that we could get video games with life like graphics but due to limitations there needs to be some cutting edges, who knows maybe we could have a computer as small as out phones and have a beast of a power beyond our thought. We as humans are terrible at prediction even history told us so but we can only estimate. * what do you think the new Architecture would be and when it might come even though we are not looking at anytime soon. Note: this is a compilation of my thoughts and research. Do you ever get that feeling when you're on a forum from 2000-2006 and think, "Wow, this is old. This is how they thought about [***] back then"? Well, someday, someone might look at this conversation the same way, or perhaps not. Who knows?

  8. Budget (including currency): 9.000.000 IDR Country: Indonesia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: FL Studio (Various VSTs), DaVinci Resolve (FHD Editing) Hi, I've been doing my own research yet I still need some opinions regarding the new build I'm going to do. I've read a couple times regarding the worth of DDR5 system and the price of AM5 motherboard, I have a high concern regarding the longetivity and upgradeability of the system I'm going to do, so I have a little concern on DDR4 system. But, again, my purpose is getting the most for my money. Here's my build plan Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 Motherboard: MSI PRO A620M-E (AM5, A620, DDR5, USB3.2, SATA3) SSD: ADATA LEGEND 850 Lite 500GB NVME PCIe Gen4x4 - R 4700MB/S W 1700MB/S RAM: Team Elite Plus Black DDR5 PC41600 5200MHz Dual Channel 32GB (2x16GB) Case: Antec NX500M ARGB PSU: 1STPLAYER DK PREMIUM PS-500AX 80+ Bronze Certified Cooler: Deepcool Ice Edge Mini FS V2 - LGA1700/AM5 Support So, based on my needs on FL Studio use and occasional gaming (classic AAA games circa 2010-2013) and short video editing for personal social media, should I go with this build or should I go the AM4 build?
  9. Okay, so I'm new to pc building, but have wanted to build a gaming rig for a while. I did my research and bought parts that would be compatible and work together. After putting everything together I ran into an issue. The computer powers on but there isn't any output to a display. The fans turn on but nothing else. I have tried everything from reseating all the parts to trying different monitors and cables but nothing works. I have come to the conclusion that the current bios is incompatible with the CPU I have purchased. Therefore, a bios update is needed for the CPU to work with my motherboard. Unfortunately, the motherboard needs a CPU (that I don't have and would need to purchase.) that is compatible with the current bios of the motherboard, in order to to upgrade the BIOS to work with the CPU I have. (A "catch 22" situation.) In addition, the motherboard I have is about 8 years old (but new in box and never used), so I'm wondering if its worth it to take it to a pc repair shop to get the bios updated. Key Points - I don't want to spend money on a new motherboard if updating the BIOS works. - I don't want to have to buy any more parts (i.e. new ram*, new CPU, new PSU, etc.) *(I did buy ram that is slightly faster than originally recommended by the manufacturer, believing it would work and still be recognized but slightly bottlenecked by rest of hardware.) - I want the PC to last a good while before needing to make upgrades. - I don't want to have to spend any more money than completely necessary. I already feel like i spent too much money on this already. - I still need to purchase Windows 11 O.S. - I still want to get more internal cooling fans So here's my question. Should I bother taking the motherboard to a repair shop to get the BIOS updated, or should I just buy a more modern motherboard altogether. Option 1 Get the BIOS updated at a local repair shop to work with my current parts. Pros: - Cheaper - Don't have to get a new motherboard. Cons: - No guarantee that the ram will be compatible after bios update. - Might need to get parts that are more compatible. Option 2 Buy a new motherboard. Pros: - More likely to work with my current parts - Bios flashing would be easier - More "Future Proof" (would last longer before needing an upgrade) Cons: - More expensive option - Might need to buy more compatible parts For reference here is my build so far: CASE: Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3.1 TG mATX (MCW-L3S3-KGNN-00) CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 RAM: TeamGroup "T-Force Vulcan Z" DDR4 3200mhz 2x8gb (16gb total) PSU: Segotep 650W 80 Plus Gold Certified Non-Modular ATX Power Supply GPU: Gaming Radeon RX 6650 XT 128-bit 8GB GDDR6 (RX 6650 XT MECH 2X 8G OC) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-AB350M-D3H (Rev 1.0) Storage: Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SN570 NVMe SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280 & Samsung 870 EVO 500GB SATA 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MZ-77E500) Any and all input and advice would be greatly appreciated. 11. I am going to build a computer and i have been fiddling with pc part picker. My budget is from 600 to 900 dollars. This is the link to the build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KLkKkJ My plan is to use the 8600G CPU from AMD. I will be doing lite gaming, like minecraft and roblox. I will also do some AI or ML stuff as well. Please tell me if you think there is any way to cut on budget or any other concerns. Thank you in advance.

I've seen recommendations for the Asrock B660M PRO RS which would need a Wi-Fi card, is there any recommended or needed for that motherboard or does it not matter?
  13. Hi everyone. This is my first post so please correct me if I’ve done anything wrong. I recently bought a Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC (Rev 2.0) as an upgrade to my current 1660ti. I bought it as used but was used only for gaming from what I was told. I took out my old graphics card and put in the new, and I’m using just one Pcie cable which is split for 2 8 pins cables. The PC turns on alongside the keyboard, mouse but there is No Display from either of my monitors (HDMI and DP ports being used). When the PC was on with the RTX inside, my motherboards VGA light was Red, which means that there is possibly something wrong with the output. From what I understand from PC part picker,my specs are suitable for the RTX Have i done something wrong? Or am I missing something? Do you guys think I’ve been given a dud RTX? I was able to reinstall my 1660ti and use my computer still. I would appreciate any and all help, I really want to play with the RTX, thank you all. Qc Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (COD/Warzone, Cyberpunk, Homeworld 3, Stalker2) and video editing Other Details: I am currently using an older EVGA x99 classified board with a Core i7 5930k with an 1080ti, and a 1000watt EVGa G2 psu. Ripjaw 4 F4-2400 (4x 8gb). Got access to a 2070 Super OC2 Greetings forums; Long time reader here! I am turning to you folks today for guidance and recommendations. Been so long since my last build. I am looking to gradually upgrade my current rig to a whole new rig in the coming weeks/months. I will replace Mobo, CPU, RAM and GPU and case. Don't think the PSU will need to be replaced since it's a 1000w gold plus already. My good old X99 has been serving me well over the years, but I am afraid I am hitting the limits of its capacity, correct me if I am wrong. It's currently running a 5930k so I got 40 pci-e lanes. And I am using a 1080ti for graphics. With 32gb of ram I am only gaming in 1080p since my current 3 monitor setup doesn't include any 4k displays and are only 60hz I would like to change my main monitor to a 4k down the line but at the moment the main focus is the rig it self. But if it is achievable within the budget I would upgrade right away. Cable management in my current case NZXT H440 is not very easy, so I would love to replace it with something with ample space and room for a CPU AIO. And since I am no longer running good old spinning drives I won't need a full size tower anymore. That this is tall AF. What do you guys think? Upgrade GPU first or Mobo CPU/Ram or everything at once? Is my CPU plenty for now? What would be the best bang for my canadian rubles...

  17. Hello, I just built a new PC and when I run games the GPU isn't on 100% usage. Depending on the game it's around 30 to 60-70%. In beamng-drive the average is 50-60% which is around 100-120fps. And sometimes the GPU usages goes up to 80-90% and then I get 170-200fps and then it drops again to 60%. most of my games run good when the GPU is on 50-60% but of course I want the performance I paid for. Any guess what it can be? I guess it is some sort of setting since I sometimes get 100% and then It drops. I play on 1080p 240hz and all games are on high to ultra settings. 19. As it says in the title. I got a new 4TB NVME drive on Black Friday (this one, specifically: Predator GM7000 M.2 up to 2TB storage and 7400 MB/s read speed (predatorstorage.com)), and the first benchmark was in line with my 970 EVO. After getting my OS and files migrated and using it for about a week, performance dropped off a cliff. Here's the before and after in Samsung Magician: Is there anything I should know/try before returning this drive and getting a replacement? Am I misunderstanding SSDs, is this just a sucky one? I thought I did my research, and I made sure to get a drive with a DRAM cache (this one has 4 GB). I know it's TLC, but I thought that impacted lifespan way more than immediate performance, and I got a really really good deal so I wasn't worried if it only lasted several years instead of 5+.
  20. Budget (including currency): $4000( ca 43 000 kr) but would rather go lower without affecting performance Country: Sweden Uses: I mainly need the pc for heavy 3D rendering and fast load times (Blender(sculpting, hardsurface modelling, artistic renders), UE5, Substance painter ect). Gaming too, but not a lot. Note: im going to upgrade to a new pc, so im going to selling this current pc. current pc: - RTX 3700 OC 8gb - ryzen 3700x - corsair vengenace 64 Gb(16x4) CL16 3200mhz. - corsair 750w 80+ gold - asus rog b550-f. - watercooling. - corsair 4000x. Other details: I have made an initiall parts list on pcpartpicker found below. I need help ensuring that I haven't missed anything incompatible with each other. Also, see if there is any unnecessary overspending. Its currently over budget. I have 3 monitors where two of them are 1440p and 1 is 1080p. I do the work on one of the 1440p monitors 170Hz. Im planning on buying this pc in the coming weeks. initial list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xMzH7R Thanks in advance!
  21. so i just recently got a prebuilt PC from a reputable company. .I love the computer and it runs all the game i want very well. This is the first PC ive had since 2016. So im very out of sync now, as opposed to 8 years ago lol. Im using an intel i3 13100f..a gigabyte B760 MB..16gb of ram, and an rtx 3050.. so my question is one i know alot of people probably bring up, and ive read alot of forums and feel like i know whats going to be said when i ask this..but this PC was a large investment..and i want to take the best care as i can of it.. and btw my cpu cooler is stock, but at some point ill move to a liquid cooler, but it wont be for a few months, maybe less. SO under load, load being when download updates for games/playing specific games..ive noticed the cpu getting to 80c, or a bit under 80c. Normally its anywhere from 32C , like right now im looking at it and its 32c, with nothing going on beside google..with certain games itll b around 50-65c..i was just installing an 18gb update for this game..and it shot up to around 75c...this MB came with gigabyte control center installed so i can see fan curves, temps, memory info, overclocking stuff, etc...so the fan curves were automatically set up to run the fans at X speed when the cpu is at X temp...so the hotter it gets, the faster they spin..but im concerned becasue the fans go up and down sometimes pretty quickly to keep the temp at reasonable levels..and im concerned the the fans going up and down that the fans will wear out or soemthing. im NOT a tech guy, i love computers and hardware but im not very educated in all the specifics and etc..so please keep that in mind lol. So is it ok for the fans to jump around, speed wise? am i being paranoid?

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Playing 1440p and at above 120hz would be ideal. I took influence from other posts here but would appreciate additional checks particulary the Mobo and GPU brand manufacturers as there are so many to pick from and they seem to vary in quality. Is the MSI MAG Tomahawk B650 a problem free mobo to use with the parts I intent to buy and is the GPU AIB I am going for a worthy one to pick over others? I have read the Noctua D15 is expensive for what it offers but from the charts I saw it performs better slightly. Is it worth having it if I have the budget for one? 25. Budget (including currency): £1300 if I can have it lower I wouldn't mind that at all Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: new AAA games, I play a few BRs like Apex Legends, Warzone. Light photo editing (not really a concern as I have very basic needs) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): CASE: My friend is offering me their old Phanteks Ethnoo Pro Link to Ethnoo Pro so I can use that instead of buying a new case. However I am opened to suggestions if a new case would be a better option than what I am being given. Monitor: I'll also be buying a monitor second hand from someone I know. It will be 144hz. Peripherals: Not required I'm looking to buy parts now due to the current sales. I'm swaying towards a AMD/AMD build due to both cost and lower power usage. I am open to Nvidia GPUs but it doesn't seem like there is one that offers what the 7800xt is capable of unless you pay a significant amount more for the 4070ti which uses a lot more power. Having thought about it more I think I would prefer to keep to AMD as the 4070 despite being lower power usage, the 7800xt looks like it would have more longevity. Would like to play in 1440p but being honest I am quite happy with 1080p based on experiences at friends and playing on console right now at 1080p. Refresh rate would like to play higher than 60hz so something up to 144hz would be nice. CPU: I've been looking at either AMD 7600 non X or the 7800x3d. From what I understand they both have around the same power usage when running games, idle or other software but the x3d offers a noticeable leap in performance. GPU: The PowerColor Hellhound 7800xt is the card I am considering as from what I have read it runs much cooler than the other GPU suppliers. However I am open to suggestions as I would like to pick a supplier that is reliable. Motherboard: I'm struggling to decide which board to pick as there was quite a lot of issues with mobos specifically with the 7800x3d. Is there a safe mobo to pick? From looking at videos online the problems looked to have been common on ASUS and Gigabyte. I've gone through different threads but i am finding it difficult to filter out anecdotal reviews from individuals having issues themselves or if it is a board issue. RAM: Would Corsair ram be a wise suggestion? There's currently CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL36 AMD EXPO iCUE Compatible Computer Memory on sale. I had a look a Linus's video on lower CL differences so would it be a wiser choice to go for something that is CL32? and something that is 6400mhz if the mobo can candle that? Storage: Western Digital Black SN770 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive & Western Digital Black SN770 500 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler Am I correct in believing this offers better peformance than the Peerless Assassin and Noctua fans? PSU: Corsair RM850x (2021) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not familiar with all the different brands, I would prefer to pick brands that are known to be reliable if that is a thing. If anymore information is required I am more than happy to provide it. Thanks for the time and help.
