Hello LTT Forum, I was hoping to find some ideas on troubleshooting here. My friend has a Corsair Vengeance 5180 Gaming PC: CPU: I7-8700 GPU: RTX 2080 MoBo: MSI B360M Bazooka Plus RAM: 16gb DDR4 + 32gb Added More information is on the hyperlink above. His PC has had BSOD issues for a while now, but has gotten gradually worse over time, from BSODing every 4 months to every 10 minutes now. Additionally, after the BSOD the system boots into BIOS instead of windows, with issues detecting the SSD [Windows Boot Manager option also isn't there in bios]. The Blue screen error says whea_uncorrectable_error with no numbers attached or around it. My friend with the issues is a great distance away, so troubleshooting has been limited. We have tried running windows memory diagnostics and completing the diagnostic, but werent able to boot into windows long enough to see the results. Thank you for the time and help!

Hi all, I've been going through my old electronics detritus lately, and happened to come across this: The connector is a standard-looking 3.5mm, and the right end is a smooth, shiny plastic dome. On the other side of the dome is some 3M adhesive. And I have no idea what it is. I tried it in both the microphone and headphone jacks on my computer with no results. Any ideas?

Hello! So I work in an emergency room and one of the nurses found this just laying around. No one seems to be able to figure out what it is so I though I would ask here! Thanks in advance! Update: I think y’all got it with the car charger. I didn’t recognize it without the plastic casing but it makes sense. To the one dude saying it’s a MOBO killer. WTF you smoking bro?

Last week I upgraded my PC to: Aorus B450 Elite AMD Ryzen 3 3600 Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) 3200 ASRock Radeon RX 5600 XT Challenger D 6G OC Be Quiet! System Power 9 700w I reused my SSD for my system and one 2TB WD Black for storage First days everything was fine, just installing stuff as usual with a new PC. I did a clean windows 10 install. Then out of the blue one of the screens went green and the main one black and the system rebooted. Ever since then this has happened once or twice a day. I can't seem to pin it down to high demand of the PC or just browsing the internet. It happened to me once with just chrome open while I was on the phone. I have tried BIOS update (came up to date out of the box) MemTest86 (ran for 6 hours with no issues) Upgraded the BIOS of the GFX card Changed from the optional drivers from AMD to the one from the ASRock site (with DDU) Unplugged my ZBoard Fang which is the only thing giving issues in the event viewer but it didn't help either Bluescreenview gives me nothing and the event viewer gives me nothing either. I don't know where to go from here. I played games for several hours without issues and then another time it's 15 mins in and it crashes. Yesterday in an attempt to monitor my PC I took this video while COD:MW was doing it's thing on the main menu and installing shaders, I have since observed the same thing in other games too: Youtube Any help would be appreciated.

Personally i found an file in my appdata local called "111.jpg.md.tar.gz.zip.torrent i guess it was a torrent to download a compressed image of a text file with instructions for an installation in linux? The magnet link didn't work if you're wondering

So my friend gave me his GTX 770 that he's owned for one year. As soon as I installed the card into my system I realized that my computer would crash while gaming about once or twice a day, but it doesn't always happen daily. I'm 100% certain it's the GPU as the problem subsided once I switched cards out. The highest temps I've seen the card go to is 80C after a couple of minutes of gaming. I've never dusted the card out or changed the thermal paste so maybe that's the issue? I have a 750w psu and also the card is under-performing at a GTX 760 level. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Not sure if anyone is following the Chiliad Mystery, but after the release of the Gunrunning DLC, there has been a pretty big discovery. https://www.reddit.com/r/chiliadmystery/comments/6i86zq/we_finally_found_the_alien_egg_damship_call_in/ As I said, not sure if people are following this, but it's pretty exciting news if you have! Background In GTA:SA there was a secret that allowed you to obtain a jet pack, when GTA:V was released people started hunting for its existence in GTA:V. Once GTA was released, there was a lot speculation about the mural found in the cable car building at the top. Since then, there have been a lot of theories some more mental than others, some that actually made a little sense. Since then, there have been discoveries regarding UFOs that appear at the top of Mt. Chiliad in the rain, at 3am. After around 3 years and thousands of posts, it seems that the latest update contains obfuscated code relating to a potential UFO crash scene, that's as far as they've managed to work out so far. The other big discovery as a result of the investigations have been the peyote's which also lead to the community finding the beast you have to fight. That's a VERY short version, it's hard to summarise all of the things they have found, as well as the theories they've come up with, but if you want to just veg out and read something, sort the subreddit my top and crack on.

For last few weeks my PC has been waking itself up after being put to sleep for reason I can't pinpoint and it is driving me mad. I have tried every solution I could find without any lack. Event log always claims that the reason is unknown. I have disable basically everything in Device Manager from being able to wake up the PC (except keyboard, but when I use keyboard to wake up the PC I got all the information that it was keyboard in a wright way). I went to registry, I have disabled network card from being able to do that, I have been checking every device plugged in (by unplugging it and seeing if that helps), I have changed power plan to never allow wake up events etc. - no luck! PC mostly wakes up up to 2 minutes after I put it to sleep and will keep waking up if I put it to sleep again. 2 minutes is not a rule though, it can be 15 minutes or even few hours. If I restart the PC before putting it to sleep then for 90% of the time it will stay asleep, but even that is not the rule. I thought it could be some application, but I wasn't able to determine any link between the app and waking up. I keep my PC generally clean (2 months ago I formatted it), I have pretty basic programs/games ans setup as well. This is what I have: MSI Z87-G43 mobo Intel i5-4670K @4.5GHz (I have also tried disabling the OC and putting bios to its default state, did not help - and BIOS has the newest version) Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming (no OC) 2 SSDs - one Samsung 850 EVO where the System is located and one older Kingston HyperX for files 2x 8GB HyperX RAM (no OC) Windows 10 (upgraded from a genuine copy of 7) I keep my PC really clean and temperatures low. I keep my software updated, Windows included. I feel pretty powerless at this point and this is why I am reaching out to you guys - I really hope that I will find help here, cause in other parts of Internet I did not. I am attaching 3 screenshots, if you need anything more, please let me know. Thank you!

I've recently acquired what is almost certainly an Intel RAM card/board released in 1990. It says this particular card was manufactured on November 18th 1991. There are many different numbers and letters on it, but I think the pertinent one is "PB 503591-001". I've searched for this and everything else that looks like a model number on this card, but to no avail. I'm not that surprised, seeing as it was made before the internet was widely available, before almost all sites that are still online now were created, and before you could send images over the internet. It's not like it's a CPU or something. It's a RAM card. What's really interesting is that it uses RAM modules. In fact, I am missing one of them. It looks like a cursed motherboard just for RAM that you then stick into a motherboard of the time. Whenever I look up RAM cards or boards from this era, I just see cards with DIMMs soldered straight onto the card. I have also tried to identify the bus it uses to connect to the motherboard, but to no avail, yet again. I did, however, manage to identify the RAM chips of half of the modules as Mitsubishi M5M41000BJ and the other as Panasonic MN41C1000ASJ-08. There are also some Intel and Texas Instruments chips on there, like the TI SN74AS1808N and the Intel S09297-001. I'll link some pictures for you to look at. View of the modules. View of what seems to be the controller chips. Full view of the card. Closeup showing the modules, RAM slots, a capacitor, and part of the Bus.

So for the past week IV had nothing but random issues. Random unlinked postcodes, Post coat hangs, BSOD ERRORS all seemingly different, hibernation/ sleep mode cycle crashes, graphical erroes, exceedingly slow R/W rates the works and as soon as one problem would start it would disappear just as mysteriously thankfully I have two drives my boot and my libraries. Ended up doing a complete reinstall so as it turns out so far this has fixed all my issues. Hopfully this pattern holds as I reinstall the majority of my software so far everything is holding together. Anyone else experiance a similar issue?

Hello Linus tech tip forum I have a mystery I'm trying to figure out about my television funai television I am using as a monitor via serial cable. The average resolution i can run max is 1280x768 with black bars at the bottom and top, but every once in a while after I restart my computer it does something diffrent and allows me to run my monitor in 16:9 wide screen with everything stretched and small. I know about HDTV's being able to run about any res they want but my hardware is highly outdated and doesnt allow stretched 4:3 so its a miracle when I get a 16:9 resolution. What I'm asking basicly is if someone knows a consistant way of entering my monitor into a 16:9 aspect. Ratio from load up since that seems to be the only way to consistently load up a 16:9 aspect ratio. Thanks in advance this is the first time using a forum for help, I usually lurk along forums looking for answer's applying to my problem but this is my first time asking a question directly. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi everyone, So this happen to me 2 days ago. At about 1:30 in the morning on December 5th, 2018. I fell asleep in bed while watching twitch and left my laptop open, the stream was still playing. Until at about 6:00 am, I suddenly woke up. My room door was still closed. I looked at my laptop which was still open and running since when I slept. I saw a tab of amazon website is open and active. I saw a line said that one of my order is pending. I was really confused and still sleepy at the moment. I tried to use my track pad to move the cursor but I couldn't seem to find the cursor anywhere cause I see no movement on the screen. I attempted multiple swipe but didn't see any cursor movement on my screen. At the time, I thought that my laptop could have just froze, but the weird thing is the sound from the stream is still playing. Anyway I put my laptop to sleep using the power button, since I was still very sleepy to investigate any further. I powered my laptop back on and everything seemed to be working normally. I was able to move the cursor again. After that I went in to my order history on amazon website and see that someone made 5 purchases including 3 amazon gift card reload using someone else visa card and 2 playstation gift card using the reloaded balance. I was extremely confused to how that even happen since I was sleeping the whole time. I checked the payment method for the 3 amazon gift card reload. It was my name and one of my old address for billing info and the visa card ending number wasn't my card. Even more confused of how that card was added to my account under my name and my old address. I pulled myself together, and did a little thinking. Since I saw the amazon tab open on my laptop when I woke up, I pulled out the browsing history and surprisingly all of that happened on my own laptop at 5:24 am until about 10 minutes before I woke up. I contacted amazon and reported about this incident. This is the first time this ever happen to me and it bugs the hell out of me how it can possibly happen on my own laptop while I was sleeping. I don't if anyone ever had this happen to them or can help me crack this case. Thank you... Update: I did reset my password later on that day after I contacted amazon support. My suspicion is that I had twitch opened that whole night, and since amazon is the owner of twitch and I had my amazon linked to twitch. There must be something related. Cause I also have all my shopping accounts saved on my chrome browser. My question is though why did the person use my amazon account but added someone else debit/credit card to my account and use that card instead of my card? and also because the person bought 2 playstation gift card. Is it possible to track down the person playstation account if he/she redeem those codes?

I have AT&T fibre internet (gigabit) and the only way to get internet into the home off of their fibre line is to pass it through their provided router (there is no cable modem because of the nature of fibre). And in creating the second network I simply ran a CAT6 cable from one of the AT&T LAN ports to the WAN port on my Asus RT-AC5300 router in a second story room. However in doing so I ran into the issue that the AT&T router will not give more than 100 mbps to the second router even if I passed it through a switch first. Does anyone have any idea why this is? Also on a different note, I am trying to switch my main PC/server over to 10GB so are there any recommendations for some affordable sub $200 network switches and RJ45 NICs?

I just installed my new EVGA 1080ti FTW Hybrid and it is my first AIO water cooled GPU. I plan on getting the VivePro when it releases so I wanted something that can stay cool through long tough GPU demanding VR sessions. I sold my 980ti lightning from MSI which was air cooled with a beast cooler but now I had an extra fan in my rig with the AIO attached to my new GPU. I put this fan as an exhaust in the rear of the case as per EVGA recommendation. I had the previous exhaust fan plugged into my fan hub controller of my Phanteks enthoo evolve temp glass but now that fan has been replaced. I thought this may affect my fan speeds, but upon reboot, FAN SPEED WAS NORMAL. HOWEVER, after installing new software from EVGA and MSI then a reboot, my case fans now have ramped up to over 2300 rpms and my CPU is below 30°. The fans of my AIO cooler for my CPU are normal as well as the fans of my GPU and GPU AIO fan. So it's just the case fans that are ramped up. I even tried altering the bios fan curve and uninstalled the software of MSI and EVGA but the fans are still stuck at high rpms! I noticed my software for my motherboard has rendered useless after the windows security updates and Asus has said on their website that there are no work arounds as of yet. So how do I get these fans back down, is it because I unplugged a fan from the fan hub controller, I just don't get it. Right now I shouldn't have any software affecting fan speeds, just the bios but I have bios settings on a low speed until 40° but they remain high somehow? Any ideas?
