  1. So this is a very first world problem but I've been pulling my hair out over this trying to figure something out. So I have my system in my sig and I'm trying to run one game on monitor 1 using my 1080 ti, that works fine, but on the second monitor I am trying to play a lighter game on the side like The Sims 4 using my GT 1030 fullscreen (it can play it maxed at 60 fps no issues on my 1080p 75hz acer screen). However whenever I select borderless windowed and switch back to the main game I am playing Sims just freezes until I alt tab out of the game on monitor 1. I know for most games the display needs to be set as primary for a game to launch, and there are a few games you can set which display you can use but is there any way to force a game to use a specific gpu? I tried the preferred GPU option in windows settings but both the high power and power saving GPU's are listed as the 1080 ti, and vice versa if i switch the 1030 to main. I remember I did this a few years ago when I mained my R9 290X and Iris Pro 6200 on my old desktop without issues (no it did not have Optimus) and I feel like i'm missing something, anyone have any ideas?
  2. Hello, I am building a computer that is going to be used for day trading with 12 monitors and looking for some help with determining the components needed for this beast. I am going to have a budget of about 1300-1400 dollars and maybe a bit above. It is going to be running 12 1080p monitors
  3. Hi all, there are 4 4K displays on my desk that support 60Hz. I want to relocate workstations and pcs to a remote garage and use a thin client to access them via RDP or whatnot. Hence, I'm looking for an existing thin client product that supports 4 4K displays @ 60Hz, or a suggestion on how to build my own VESA-mountable thin client from suitable components. In the latter case, the GPU and case are of special interest to me. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Many thanks!
  4. I am hoping that someone can point me in the direction of a quad headed solution for kvm switch that can support upto 4k resolution it can be either hdmi or display port either one works for me but I do need to make sure it can support the higher resolutions instead of the basic 2600x1600 or so.
  5. My pc is normally connected to 3 monitors, 1-1080p, 1-900x1400, and one 4:3, I went to florida with the 1080p monitor, and I am trying to connect the TV in my room to my pc, and shortly after I get into windows the screen goes black and does not come back. I have an I5-2500k and an RX580 8gb. I uninstalled the drivers for the GPU and it is still occurring, it does happen with only the 1080p monitor connected. Any advice is helpful. -Billy_G
  6. I have both a Windows and Mac which I connect up to HDMI docks I bought off eBay. They then connect to my monitors to be able to pick and choose which monitors are displaying what system (I have 3 monitors). When I switch devices on the HDMI dock from Windows to Mac, the Windows PC no longer detects that external display. Is there a way to make it still identify it so it does not change the screen locations and number of screens located (so essentially as if I turned the monitor off as oppose to disconnecting it). NVIDIA GPU on Win 10 if that helps.
  7. Hello everyone! I've got a tricky one for you all I think... I recently built a new PC, (specs here: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Gunsmithy/saved/dYJ9WZ), but in summary it's a 8700K with an Asus Z370-E and a EVGA 1080 Ti. Pretty bog-standard stuff, with one caviat that I have a PCIe Optane 900P with Windows installed. One big reason for the upgrade was my PC lagging, mouse and audio most noticeably, whenever there seemed to be high I/O. I had the 1080 Ti in that old rig with a 2600k and figured it was time to upgrade so I pulled it. To reproduce this issue, the easiest way seems to be listening to music on Discord and see how much it stutters when performing certain actions. Most effective seems to be switching game modes in Fortnite. To further complicate things, this horrible stuttering only occurs when I have all my 4 monitors plugged in, with my main monitor, the Asus ROG PG279Q connected over Displayport. The other 3 are a Dell 1080p 60Hz over HDMI, and two LG 1080p 60Hz monitors, one over DVI, and one over DVI via a passive DIsplayport adapter. I tested every combination of monitor, and to summarize, the issue does not occur when I have all monitors connected except the PG279Q, happens to a lesser extent with only 1 other monitor connected with the PG279Q, or with all connected but the PG279Q over HDMI at 60Hz. I've also tested with new Displayport cables and even borrowed my friend's GTX 960 to see if it was a GPU issue, and the same thing occurs. This also happened with the 1080Ti in my previous PC, but I assumed for other reasons. My thoughts now are, is it some sort of issue with PCIe or GPU bandwidth? GPU usage is around the 30% mark, but I'm not sure if the GPU + my Optane drive is causing trouble. I didn't have the Optane drive on the old PC, but I also of course was only on a P67 board so it would've had its own struggles. Maybe I need to be on an enthusiast board with a Core i9-7900X or something? lol It just doesn't seem like I'm doing anything too crazy here. No SLi hogging up the lanes either and the Optane is only 4X. I've ordered another PG279Q to test on, but I'm not sure it will even help at this point. I'm wondering what you all might suggest. This one has me totally stumped! Thanks, Gunsmithy Update 1: Another way to reproduce, dragging the Netflix app window around, lol. It stutters with the PG279Q connected even over HDMI, but not with it disconnected. Really curious if it's the cause. The new one should be arriving by Monday at the latest. Follow if you're interested!
  8. Hey guys! Lifeguard here, my Dad work's as a General manager for manufacturing homes. Across the plant he has four (or more) smart TV's that he need's to display information (such as power points, excel sheets, pictures, word documents). All of these smart TV's are connected on the same WiFi as his main desktop PC. I understand that a windows wireless display adapter is the best for mirror casting my screen onto one of the TV's. However how can he mirror cast off of his PC from his office, on to the four computers in the building simultaneously? Basically what his plan is, is to be able to come in in the morning and display their daily numbers they need to hit to be on schedule for production hours & other useful information. However he doesn't want to have to walk around and upload these individually to each TV, so he wants to be able to display the same information from his PC to these four or more smart TV's. TLDR; I need to Cast (Images/Microsoft office documents/slideshows) from my PC to four smart TV's throughout a building, all of which are on the same WiFi. -Is it possible? -How so? -Would chrome cast work? Thank you guys! -A Lifeguard
  9. I currently have two identical Technika 24E21B-FHD monitors. I also have a PC running a GTX 750 (PNY RVCGGTX7502XXB-BB GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 Video Card) My main monitor is running from the DVI slot the a DVI-to-HDMI converter which goes to a HDMI cable to my monitor. Now I've bought another DVI to HDMI which fits in the second DVI slot. I plugged the HDMI in and the second screen isn't recognised in the display settings or the NVIDIA control panel. I tried switching the screens over and the only screen that'll work is the one plugged in to the first DVI converter. So the only thing that isn't working is the second DVI to HDMI. Am I being an idiot? (if so, sorry I'm new to this)
  10. I've been thinking about multi-monitor displays and the loads on them. Linus' video with the triple-ultra-wide-1440p monitors looked at the load when all 3 were used for gaming, but say I had such a setup with a more reasonable PC: would the load be more manageable if the game was only on one of the monitors whilst the rest were either idle on the desktop or showing a wiki page or something? I'm asking as my intended use would benefit hugely from more monitors, but I prefer to use only one monitor for games. Cheers.
  11. TLDR: I need a build to accommodate for around 15 displays. You know when your boss asks you to spec against one of those bespoke system builders and you are asked to plan for a 15 display PC to fit in a blade? Yeah, happens to all of us I'm sure. Well it's damn hard finding people on the internet that have already done it to verify the process. The internet has nothing except random abstract concepts like this guy who runs 7 monitors off of USB3. I wish it where that easy for me but it all needs to be fresh out of a GPU with no untested elements to complicate things seeing as how the business relies on consistency in the tech See replacing the current setup of four cheap PCs cobbled together via the input director software is a logical step for the business (private CCTV monitoring) To be quite frank though, I have no idea where to start. While it seems straightforward, it simply isn't. Caveat #1 Output =/= Display For the current PCs, it was a matter of buying cheap GPUs like GT610s or HD5450s to just add to the setup and populate the spare PCIE lanes. Each PC having six screens each. The first complication is that with a lot of older graphics cards, while having three display outputs, only support two. Something that literally nobody on here was able to verify last time I asked because believe it or not, very few people want this many screens and pair them up with crappy cards like that. Your logical assumption that there is "no reason why it wouldn't work" may not apply here and certainly isn't helpful. If any of you fine folks have source links to examples it would be great, no half baked soldering or manipulation of wires either. It all has to be above board and pass any inspection. It looks like I will certainly be using more modern GPUs for this. Caveat #2 Virtual Machines Due to software limitations, the system will need to run four Virtual Machines at once to accommodate this many screens. The software we are bound to use for monitoring CCTV has a limit of four instances per system meaning four screens each. This will be significantly cheaper than paying upwards of £10000 for the bespoke systems and software available. not only does my PC need to be capable of that with ease, but I'd also like recommendations on VM software for this very project. I have only used VMware so some insight would be nice. Caveat #3 Budget The worst issue of all when building a system. I haven't been issued with a budget. I've been issued with "Plan it and tell me how much that will cost." My boss doesnt give a monkeys pile what's in it or how it works. All he wants to know is what it is going to cost him to have one PC that can handle everything we have running right now. All 200ish cameras. The business is growing alarmingly quickly due to the diversity of services we provide and now is the time to move forward on a technical level. Care to help a fellow enthusiast out and throw in your ideas? My knowledge starts and stops at Gaming PC. What you can help with! Reliable Gigabit LAN. The company I work for is the second highest user of Data in my city on my ISP, second only to our competitor. 24/7 CCTV coverage has that effect. We currently have 300Mbps down to the property but that will be Gigabit when the data rate requires it. The PC needs to be ready for that for sure. The Build. The software and system will decode feeds using the GPU and CPU but the workload and VRAM usage is relatively small. The real issue here is getting the displays hooked up. Is there a common modern GPU that will allow me to use all of its display outputs without being a ludicrously expensive quadro? or am i going to need a motherboard with 8 PCIE slots and GPUs to match? Are workstation/high end cards my only option? If not/so what can i do? Again, validation here is important. I can tell you my own 970s are not big fans of having too many displays thrown at them. Do you have a single GPU that has four working displays plugged into it? What is it? Great I'll have 3/4 of those! Server Blades. There's plenty of rackspace, any good recommendations for server blades while you are here? The old systems will also need moving to this form type of case so anyone got any good ATX server cases in mind? I'll keep you updated with what i come up with on the build. I have an idea of the partlist but it's all irrelevant without being sure it will all work. I know we are mostly gamers here but all experiences are helpful experiences. Thanks for taking the time to read. Thanks even more for taking the time to share your experiences with multi monitor setups. -D
  12. So, when I go into the screen resolution options, Windows detects my 2nd screen, but the monitor doesn't seem to realize it's plugged in. The monitor has power, when I turn it on it says "no signal" then goes black
  13. Last week, I asked a similar question, https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/633977-5x-1080p-monitors-on-a-single-graphics-card-possible/ Now I am curious whether a single GTX 1080 could handle 12 (TWELVE) 1080p monitors, with 4 monitors connected to each displayport using these adapters: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G3BB4414&cm_re=club_3d-_-14-997-006-_-Product -maybe up to 14 monitors if I include the DVI and HDMI ports too -I plan to use DP to DVI cables on the first 4 monitors that I already have existing, that is if the setup works. Copy-paste from my previous post: "By day, I will use the PC in a small home office, with 5 12 users, each with his own monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Mostly for clerical jobs, but one of them needs to render 3D projects very often. By night, I will use the PC for gaming. (just 1 monitor for gaming, and a Vive when I order it in a few months)"
  14. Hey, all I am building a computer for my uncle and he would like to run multi-monitor( 3 monitors), this computer is only for daily task , some 3d modelling (autocad) NOT A GAMING PC. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/MCh6XH Question #1 : Can the intel hd graphics 530 provide multi-monitor? Question #2 : Would it be best to get a low profile GPU to do this? I believe that the intel HD graphics uses the system memory to utilize it. if so suggest me one, I'm not familiar with low end gpu's Question #3 : Feedback on this built? Thanks.

I've never built a pc before and have always gamed on consoles, but I'm looking to make the switch. After seeing the Phanteks case on Awesomesauce's White Build, I knew I wanted to build a PC in that case. As it turned out--I ended up picking a few of the same parts to maintain the color scheme. I'd really like to not go over about $2200. I'm currently finishing law school and could benefit HUGELY from having multiple monitors for productivity now and after school. Plus...it just does something to a person. I've selected the monitors partly due to price restraints but mainly because having the thinnest bezels between screens was really important to me. I'm planning on using three wall mounts to attach each to the wall in formation under my wall mounted Samsung 55-inch (UN55F7100AF) television. I want to mostly use the TV as a TV but want to be able to switch into a 3+1 setup when I'd like (mostly for browsing while gaming). I know this isn't the absolute top of the line, but I want it capable of being close to that with a few upgrades down the line. I'm hoping to get either of the VR setups within the next few months and plan to install another SSD at the first opportunity. Is there anything you guys can recommend?
  16. When i connect a 4th monitor to my 980ti then they all turn off/go black. my graphic card is a zotac amp 980ti that has 3 display ports, 1 hdmi and one dvi. currently im using 3 display ports where 2 of them are using displayport to vga adapters. plugging in my 4th monitor which uses dvi to vga adapter makes them all go black. however it does not care which port im using/monitor. it happends right away when i plug in the 4th monitor. im making this sound more confusing than it is so let me try and explain what works and what doesnt. 3x displayport = works 2x displayport + 1x dvi = works 3x displayport + 1x dvi = fails im using adapters for 2 of the display ports that goes from display port to vga and i also use dvi to vga
  17. Hello everyone Lastly i ran into a rather annoying trouble of my monitors not working correctly. Despite all my tries i had to put my nerd-pride into the pocket and look for someone who may know better. I basicly have a 3 monitors setup, one on HDMI (samsung syncmaster T240HD) and two on DVI (eizo low res. monitors for stuff such as data that i need or music/messages when i game). After installing latest updates for AMD my main monitor has disabled while two Eizos kept on working. I tried almost everything and it still seems to be the case . I am using r9290x for my GPU sapphire's referencial edition (hope i got that right, that's what they're called in my country ). I would be really glad to hear if any of You ran into such a thing and/or know a fix.
  18. Hi i currently have a 30" TV for my main display and a 21.5" monitor for my secondary display both of which are native 1080p. I want to have a racing sim setup where i have the TV in the middle and two 21.5" monitors on either side (after i get the other 21.5" monitor) but i cant find a way to scale the image up on the smaller monitor. I dont mind if the screen stretches out on the top and outer corner i mainly want to align the bottom and scale it so the size of the image on the smaller monitor matches the size on the larger one. I own an AMD R9 290 so i use Eyfinity. Any suggestions?
  19. Hey, so I have been wanting to get a triple monitor setup for quite some time now and was wondering how noticeable the bezels were during gaming. I was planning on getting 3 Dell u2715h monitors but as I have two Nvidia cards I am now tempted by the Acer XB270HA. As far as I can tell the bezel on the Dell is 6.9mm and the Acer has a 11mm bezel. Any info or suggestions are welcome.
  20. Hello! I was wondering if anyone has tried an dual monitor setup where you have an ultrawide under a standard 16:9 monitor. I currently have a 4 monitor setup where it's 1 on top and 3 under in surround. I'm thinking of swapping the 3 out for an ultrawide. Any thoughts? I would love to see photos if you have a setup!
  21. I'm running two gtx 980s sli'd with two 1440p monitors, gaming on a 144hz while browsing on a 60hz. If I'm not multi tasking and am solely gaming, the overclock speeds for both gpus are the same with no problems. However, when I'm browsing or watching videos on my other monitor while gaming, the overclock on my main gpu drops to stock while the slave card is still overclocked. Sometimes this causes my pc to hang, needing me to smother my power button until it falls alseep. Any help is appreciated.
  22. This may take some explaining: I used to have 2x 1080p monitors running off a 970 through HDMI and DP. I since replaced one of those monitors with a 21:9 2560x1080p. So now I have one ultrawide and one 16:9 running off of a single 970 through HDMI and DP. With this new setup, I have regular occurences of micro-stutter on the ultrawide if both screens are running at 60Hz - it lasts for about 2/3 seconds and it is really annoying. If I run the ultrawide at 59Hz, the microstutter becomes a lot less apparent, but gameplay still is not smooth 100% of the time. Note that with an FPS counter running, the FPS does not drop during these instances of microstutter. Again, this issue was not present when both monitors were 16:9 @ 1080p. The Ultrawide is currently running at 80Hz, the other 1080p at 60Hz. Microstutter remains but is not anywhere near as bad as it was. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this? Please do tell me if the explanation is not clear enough.
  23. Hi, I am attempting to run 3 monitors on a single AMD Radeon HD 7970. I have a Asus 27in 1080p 144HZ monitor with HDMI and VGA ports, HP LP2475w IPS display, and a Samsung Syncmaster 22in monitor. Both the catalyst control center and the windows screen resolution detect these displays. I also have the latest 14.12 drivers that just came out recently. Though unfortunately, this is not working. Currently I have the Asus monitor connected to the only DVI cable and the HP monitor connected to the only Mini-Display-Port. I tried connecting the third monitor to the mini display port but no budging there. Then I tried switching them around in all possible combinations but still nothing. The 7970 has 1xHDMI, 2x Mini-Display-Ports, and 1xDVI port. If anybody can help me, it would be appreciated.
  24. Alright, this has only begun a few days ago and I was wondering if there was any way to fix it So, i'm running windows 8.1 and after "a" recent patch, whenever i'm trying to switch monitor, there is a 2-5 second delay where the mouse will slide in the "in-between" space by that I mean that it's where I would leave my mouse pointer if I wanted to access the windows 8 sidebar thingy. It used to have a .5 sec MAX delay if I moved the pointer slowly and none if I moved it quickly but now I NEED to move the pointer super fast for it not to be stopped while switching monitors. So, if you have any clue on how I could reduce/disable the delay, please tell me.
  25. So AMD has release a nice statement saying that they (basically) are busting the door down on Nvidia. Check it out! http://community.amd.com/community/amd-blogs/amd-gaming/blog/2014/05/05/celebrating-a-new-generation-of-ultrahd-displays
