Hello, I am very novice when it comes to building and am building my very first gaming PC. I've purchased about 4 parts now and just want to know what the community thinks would be best for the build. I'll let you know all the parts I have and then go in to parts I'm thinking about purchasing, I just want to know if these are good enough parts, and if you have recommendations to stay in the general price range. Here's the parts I currently have: Case: Corsair Spec-02 ATX case: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139043&cm_re=corsair_spec_02-_-11-139-043-_-Product MOBO: MSI B350 Gaming pro m-atx: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813144019&cm_re=msi_b350_gaming_pr-_-13-144-019-_-Product EVGA 500w Power Supply: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA7HN50K6623&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= Optical Drive: Asus DRW 24B1ST: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= And here are the some of the components I'm looking to possibly purchase: GPU: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137018&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= CPU: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113445&cm_re=ryzen-_-19-113-445-_-Product I know I have to purchase more such as HDD, SSD, etc. I do not plan on overclocking that much, just here and there if I can. I would just like to know what the community thinks about this, and if I'm doing it right. lol. Thanks for all the help!

Hello!! I'm just wondering if someone can help me with a little bling question. Im planning on building a fairly budgety build with a "R7 1700" and an "Asus prime B350M-A". Something i just noticed while checking out the motherboard is that it does not state support for ASUS AURA. So i was just thinking i may as well use the rgb if it comes with it. I did also check the Asus Aura page and the mother board isnt listed in their motherboard section.Im just wondering if there is another way to control the lighting or if Asus aura would actually work with that motherboard? I know this is silly but thank you for your help hahah!!!

I've finally settled on the iStarUSA M-3120-ATX 3U for my unRAID chassis. My problem now is determining the correct combination of motherboard and expansion cards to utilize it fully. Documentation says that an ATX board will fit, but be partially restricted, so I can't necessarily rely on the boards build-in sata ports. My current favorite board is this one from Supermicro. By sheer coincidence (seriously), this is also the chassis Linus uses for his home NAS, which is reassuring. It can be done!

Hi, I have a Lenovo Yoga 300. I was experiencing some keyboard issues, sometimes the trackpad would suddenly stop working, the keyboard stop working and the windows randomly started asking me if i want to switch to the tablet mode. So on the lenovo official forum I was advised to update my BIOS. In the middle of the update, the laptop restarted and asked me to press any key to proceed with the update. I kept on pressing the keys, but it didn't register and in a matter of minutes, it shut itself down. Since then I have not been able to even switch the laptop on again. Even the battery charging indicator won't glow even which i plug it in. Don't even get any screen, it's like it doesn't even start. I've checked forums about this issue and putting the BIOS files in the usb and then letting it do it's stuff, but if the laptop doesn't even turn on, how do i go about it? The battery is internal and I don't get covered under their warranty. Can anyone suggest a solution?

I have a master upgrade roadmap for switching my FX system to Ryzen, it involves a fairly budget purchase of CPU, MoBo, RAM, and an SSD for now. What seems smart to me is a Ryzen 3 or 5 paired with a decent motherboard, and upgrade to an R7 later. My question is, would there be much difference between say, a B350 PC Mate and a Gaming Pro Carbon later on, would pairing an 1800X with the PC Mate later on be a bad thing? Would it be worth it to shell out extra cash on the Carbon so i don't have to upgrade it again later, or just spend it on an R5 and an extra 4 threads?

Can you put the video in one of the "video slots" for example PCIE1 and the NIC in PCIE7 as shown above with both of them working at the same time ???? Can you put a video card in PCIE1 and an NVIDIA Tesla in PCIE5 if those slots are each allocated 16 lanes ???? In bios, you can set the individual speeds (#lanes ???) of the PCIE1 ... PCIE7 slots, but what restrictions are there ???? Is this typical of all the recent motherboards with SLI/Crossfire ???? please note if you are absolutely certain about your reply before I pay for the motherboard. my existing computer is 11 years old, and I can not afford to waste my money. MUCH THANKS regards

High folks, as some one that has never built a computer before I need some detailed help. If you look at my case and mother board on my profile you will see what I'm talking about I hope. On my ASUS Mother Board looking were the cpu goes just to the right are two power connections, one is a 6 pi which goes to the power supply and then you have the ATX power 4 pi connector, now one of my questions is the 4 pin where dose the other end connect to? On the case I have fan controls and HDD hot swap which I have connected together but there is a connector that supposed to connect to the mother board were on the mother board dose this connect to? Please see pictures. The manual is not detailed enough for me to understand how to make the connections correctly. thank you all for your help

Hello everyone, currently I have a PC with specs below:- 600 watt shitty zalman power supply - msi z170a gaming pro - core i5 6500 - 8gb single kit kingston 2666 hyperx memory -gigabyte g1 gaming gtx 980 -zalman z1 neo caseSo I bought this PC around 2016 May. It still is a decent PC I know, but when it comes to streaming on twitch, well let alone the x264 encoder, even with quicksync or NVENC encoders, it affects my FPS during the games. And back in 2016 I had hopes to upgrade my intel CPU and overclock further in future with kaby lake later coffee lake(we all know how that turned out). Then AMD came out of nowhere and busted the market, and since they said they will be supporting their AM4 socket until 2020, now I am in love with R7 1700 processor which will be way enough for both streaming and gaming at the same time.So here is my dream PC now :-AMD RYZEN 7 1700 ( I am planning to overclock it to 4.0ghz, if wont work, at least 3.9) -GIGABYTE AORUS AX370-GAMING K7 -Be quiet! PURE BASE 600 -G.SKILL 16GB KIT DDR4 3200MHz CL14 Flare X for AMD (RAM prices are freaking high) -CoolerMaster Vanquard Gold Series 1000W -Corsair H110i Extreme (maybe NZXT kraken x61) -Samsung SSD 850 EVO - 500GB, BasicI am definitely not thinking a new graphics card since I'm using 1080p monitor for games. G1 Gaming gtx 980 is a god damn good card with a huge overclock potential (if not compared to pascal overclock ). In worst case I can just put another second hand gtx 980 for sli for 150 usd or so.Coffee lake is about to happen I know but still I dont think intel will be able to overcome their hunger for cash and offer us some reasonable prices as well as AMD, let s say i7 8700k will be around 330$ but I still think that it wont beat the r7 1700, at least it will match up and since I realized how intel is trying to manipulate the market one handed and milk us all, I decided to support AMD so at least there can be a competitive rival for intel(yea right buying one cpu from amd will do that but maybe some others will think the same as me).I have lack of knowledge about AMD motherboards, as well as their CPUs although I still continue to watch and read about the technology behind AMD CPUs and performance reviews. I have never used watercooling systems. I believe Be quiet pure base 600 is a beautiful case on its price range.About the power supply I deliberately chose high powered power supply so it is possible to upgrade the graphics card or have SLI in the system or some other sh.t that can require more power in future.I am open to any kind of suggestions about the parts, when to buy, market analysis , wait or not wait for another gen of processors(either intel or amd).Oh and when I bought my 1 year old PC last year, I was not employed, now I am so I have bit more money to spend. I am planning to make this build happen in a month or two. Thanks in advance anyone who comments&shares ideas!

Hi I am really new to hardware things... I am planning to use 4 GPU each with 16 PCIE for my WS. I am not sure whether a single CPU is enough for that, as the single CPU has only 40 PCIE. I saw on other place that ASUS X99-E WS can support 4 GPU with single 40-PCIE CPU. But I am confused...PCIE are for communications between GPU and CPU (if I understand it correctly), so if the CPU has only 40 PCIE, how could the motherboard make a difference?

What MSI AM4 motherboards support Nahimic software? Is there a specific branding for the ones that do support it? I've been looking for an AM4 motherboard for a R5-1600 and I discovered these features that Nahimic offers for MSI products, but I also noticed that some of the ones I saw don't specify anything about it.

I was looking to get some advice on what to upgrade in my PC. I am looking to upgrade any part with a total of around 350 American Dollars or roughly 420 Canadian dollars. Which of these is better and why? http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/AB350M/ https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B350M-PRO-VDH.html#hero-overview I don't care about the additional 2 Ram slots on the msi motherboard. How good are they for overclocking quad and hexa cores?

I've posted about this ALOT ..So long story short : My PC keeps freezing in games and when I try to do some Prime95 stress testing it also does the same. the reason I keep posting is because I always find out somethings new and the problem never left. So here is what I tried so far : Ran memtest and it kept freezing on the 6th test till I reinstalled it and ran it overnight with about 8 passes (I think) Blend test freezes after 50 minutes Large FFT also crashes in about 50 minutes and small FFT aswell. Everyone is convinced that my 350w psu was not enough and I didn't agree till I eventually got a 550w psu but the problem still exists .. Ran Furmark today for an hour and a half but never freezes (games freeze in way less time) So today I found out something new which is If I turn the PC on and leave the mouse without touching it for about 15-20 minutes it causes the PC to freeze . I've googled it a bit and found out some things about "PCIE Latency" . What is that exactly ? So after this occurred I'm kinda thinking its a software problem after all And I don't wanna go and buy new RAM or mobo because I've spent the money I have on a good psu so I wanna make sure whats wrong first . System specs : AMD FX-6300 @ stock speeds asus m5a78l-m le Kingston 8gb ddr3 low profile single channel Ram GTX 1050 2gb Corsair CX550m 80+ bronze So what the hell am I facing right now ?

Hi, Just here to get some feedback and possibly a discussion going as to where motherboard technology is currently compared to technology in general. Fair Warning, I am looking more at the extreme side of PC technology. This may come off to most as a rant. A lot of these may also be niche in terms of how many would use these features. To start off, The Macbook with USB-C came out two years ago in 2015. Since then we have seen laptops with more and more USB-C. We have also seen Phones with USB-C and other devices such as Monitors. USB-C is also an interface for Thunderbolt 3 technology that allows for 40Gbps, Dual 4k Displays at 60Hz and 100w Charging. This would be tremendously useful on motherboards, and I don't just mean on the back IO. With more and more devices like phones switching to USB-C, it would be very useful to have USB-C Front header connectors that case manufacturers could take advantage of. I'd also like to see Thunderbold 3 USB-C / More USB-C on the back for use with External Storage and Monitors. Another issue I see (on gaming motherboards) is not enough attention to Audio. 7.1 surround? Congrats, your still not there yet. I'd like to see more work put into quality audio interfaces. Especially since enthusiasts see graphics as a reason to spend upwards of $1,000 or more. Not to mention but I would highly appreciate having 2 HD_Audio Headers on the motherboard (if possible). 10G Lan ports? Where are they? If I am paying 200+ dollars for a motherboard, then I would love to see a 10G Lan port, and not just on Workstation based boards. Even better would be 2 10G Lan Ports with Teaming Functionality. I'd like to see more Motherboards with built in WIFI and Bluetooth. This may come off an unnecessary but a lot of people still use wifi over lan due to being able to put your Pc in multiple rooms of the house. Having to buy an extra adapter for Bluetooth devices seems outdated. being able to connect your phone, speaker, or headset to your PC via Bluetooth is a really under-appreciated feature. With Bluetooth 5.0 coming out I hope to see more connectivity to the PC. Vanity plates. These allow for customization with 3D Printers. Because being able to put your logo on the motherboard just makes it that much cooler. MSI has added these recently. More Intel Optane compatibility. (This is new so I don't expect too much of this yet) 2 or more USB 3.0 Headers and 3 or more USB 2.0 Headers. (I know that sounds ridiculous but having the option helps a lot. Powered USB Ports for Charging. Feel Free to comment other feature you may have that you would like to see/see more of.

Hello. Long time reader, first time poster. I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this. I have a LAN build in the node 202 that I take to friends houses and stuff. It the monitor I use there is a spare my friend has and it's only 900p and I don't wanna bring my 1440p monitor over every time because it's mounted and just a big hassle. So I was looking into portable monitors and saw that AOC has i1601fwux coming out next month. It seems fairly decent specs wise. 1080p, 5ms, etc... and the display and power are both from a single USB-c cable. Now my question is, if I plugged it into my USB-c on my motherboard, would it only use the igpu on my i5-7600 or would it somehow go through the 1060 I have in it? I feel like the answer is the first one but just wanted to make sure. Thanks and sorry for the long post.

I have a dell optiplex 7020 MT. Motherboard is this Genuine-Dell-Optiplex-7020-Motherboard-DP-N-F5C5X-LGA-1150.See this pic: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1ZxG1j27AlgMGNFZ01OS...In the pic, can I install my pciE x1 wireless adapter in the number 1 labeled black slot? And install a gtx 750 ti graphcis card on the number 5 labeled slot? I can't install the pcie x1 card on the 3 labeled because the gtx 750 ti requires two brackets, and it would take the place on the pcie x1 slot.I dont have the gtx 750 ti yet. I will still buy it. Before buying it, i tried installing the pcie x1 wireless adapter on the number 1 labeled slot. But computer would turn on, but my mouse, keyboard, monitor wouldn't. Is it becuase the number 5 slot is empty right now? So when I get my graphis card and install it in the number 5, and my wireless card in the number 1, will everything work fine?I'm sorry if i confused you a lot. Please help me. And btw i installed a 520w power supply. Will the gtx 750 ti work?
