Here is my setup that I will be building soon: CPU: Intel Core i7-5960X GPU: 2x Titan X Hybrids in SLI SSD: Samsung 950 Pro (boot drive) SSD: Intel 750 series So as you read, this build needs a X99 motherboard. My build is red/black themed so I need the best red and black X99 motherboard (in terms of PCIe lanes because I'm using a lot of them for this build) It would also be nice if the motherboard has a built-in WiFi card. Note: I was going for the Asus Rampage V Extreme but decided not to go with it after I read all the bad reviews and the hard time that it gave to people) so please don't suggest that unless if maybe you can convince me

Will the MSI GAMING 9 ACK let me do the following: 1. Install 2 Titan Xs running in SLI. 2. Install a Samung 950 Pro SSD as a boot drive. 3. Install a secondary Intel 750 Series SSD. 4. Install a network adapter. Thanks in advance.

This is kind of an old question however, I'm a lawyer and a nerd, and I'm throwing together a class action lawsuit against MSI for t he failure rate of their z87 xpower motherboard. As I myself have had to RMA the fucking thing 3 times in 2 months then got sick of spending more money on a motherboard I bought for 450 dollars lasted about 3 months and have never received a quality one yet. I'm convinced it's a lemon, I mean 32 PWM's people don't even do that now. Who needs that? However I would be interested in anyone who had similar problems with the board, as well as other MSI boards, with repeated RMA's and repeated failure rates. By the by I"m not a noob, I have custom water cooling loop my temps are phenomenal, my cpu is delidded and lapped, and liquid ultra pro is directly on the die coupled with gelid extreme OC on the IHS. Also I would be interested in anyone who can provide me the statistics ( reported statistics ) for major motherboard manufacturers circa 2014. A link, not a breakdown please. I have no faith in MSI as a company anymore, I called their "international office" in Taipan city taiwan because it wasn't an international number and it led to a Nissan dealership in Georgia. So I proceeded to call their other numbers, two lead to random red necks, and all were cell phones. Also the QOS or whatever barcodes on their website, a lot of them are fake they're just for show, and the apps do not exist, they're just pictures to give value to a shady ass company. Which given the number of idiots and clueless rednecks answered their "help lines" I'm pretty sure they are guilty of tax evasion as well. Now after I bitched they changed them on the website to lead to a dead end recording at least. I mean really get creative.

After I got some experience building my gaming/school PC my mother asked me if I could build her a desktop because she doesn't want another store bought P.O.S. The most intense thing she does with a computer is watch Netflix and Blu-Ray movies so I know the kind of components needed for my gaming rig would be massive overkill for her needs but unfortunately my brain is still in "gaming performance" mode and I'm having trouble trying to figure out how far to downscale this build for her needs. (My first pricing run for this was near $800 and I'd like it not to go over $700 if I can help it) Motherboard-I'm having a heck of a time trying to find a ATX motherboard that isn't near $100 and meant for gaming. Any suggestions? I mean it's no big deal if I have to use one it just strikes me as unnecessary. Processors-Would I be right in assuming I could probably save some money and take the AMD route over Intel for this build considering the lower performance demands? Or is there any reason for me to stick with Intel here? Graphics Card-I'm aware that a motherboard with HD video would do the job but I'm worried about pixalated images, video stuttering, and low frame rate. I heard the frame rate especially could be a problem for motherboard dependent HTPC and that would be the only reason for a basic graphics card, is it true or just a rumor? The monitor will be a 50 inch 1080p TV if that makes any difference. RAM-am I right in assuming 4GB would be more than enough for this build?

So, I have an old pc, like 5 years old. And now I'm planning on upgrading it! But I am really scared of buying parts that don't fit because that have happened too many times. So what I have right now is an Asus aspire M5811 build (link http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/acer/aspire_m5811_desktop_pc/336717/ it's the I5 500w and 8GB ram) and now I have found a new case, new graphics card and 2 motherboards(I've just not decided which one yet) so it's a D480 black case (link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353085&ignorebbr=1) and a msi GeForce gtx 950 2G (link https://www.msi.com/product/graphics-card/GTX-950-GAMING-2G.html#hero-overview) and the two motherboards (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4958#ov and https://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/B85-G43-GAMING.html#hero-overview wow a lot of links) So I would really wanna know, if it's possible for me and which solution is best in your opinion. Thank you for reading this, good day

I've been planning to but this motherboard however I can't find many reviews at all about it. https://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h170apcmate I've been able to find more info about this one however I wanted to run it by you guys, the experts, first. https://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gah170gaming3 Which one of these is the better or the 2? Or is there a better option around this price range anyway? Here is my current planned build for reference: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/68s7kL Thanks guys

Hi I would like to know which motherboard is better. I really like the MSI one but the Asus one has better reviews.

(Before you read about the pricing and the availability...I'm from Hungary, so prices may vary) I often get asked to suggest a budget computer build for home use, and I usually suggest an AMD A4 based build (Usually the cheapest one available). When you read that you're like: OMG! One of the worst available processors right now... But it's actually not that bad. 2 cores/threats and an integrated graphics processor that's able to play 1080p. From the feedback I've got it's more than enough for home use. Where I live...You can buy an FM2+ A88X Asus Mobo for about 55$ and pair it with an AMD A4-4000 that costs 30$. If you put it together that's only about 85$. However I'm ALWAYS tempted when I see Integrated CPU motherboards... Such as the Asrock J1900M motherboard, with a 4 core Intel Celeron CPU clocked at 2GHZ onboard...For only around 65$. I know we lose CPU/APU upgradability with the Embedded CPU motherboard, but usually the buyer of such budget computer consider 4 cores a bit overkill already, seeing how they were fine with their E4300 s775 chips for so long. So, what do you say? Was I right suggesting the FM2+ socket mobo with an FM2 APU? Or maybe I should have told them to get that Asrock one?

having some issues with the ole pc Was performing some routine upgrades including adding an ssd, some more ram, and second gpu for crossfire i have had lying around Inserted ram and wouldnt post, so removed added ram and posted and booted into windows fine, so left ram out and added in second gpu and would post but not boot into windows, ssd is being detected no probs so left that in. ram is crucial ddr3 and new gpu exact same make and model as existing gpu. Motherboard bios has never been updated so wandering if a new install of windows and reflash of bios would help out, seeing as bios updates might help out, even just for firmware and stability fixes seeing as its in original state all those years ago from the manufacturer. Any ideas will be helpful cheers gang/guys/peeps

Today I was overclocking my GTX960 and was running a stability test, and I noticed that my motherboard temps were at 118 degrees! I opened my case and felt the motherboard, but it was Luke warm.

Hey, I am building a PC using an intel i7 6700k. I would like to overclock the processor up to 5 ghz. I have cooling handled but I am a bit confused about what motherboards support overclocking or if it is usually universal. My budget for a motherboard is low and I chose this Gigabyte H170. Link: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9836115&CatId=11986 I just want to know if I can use this motherboard for this purpose or If I need to buy a different one. I would appreciate any recommendations at a similar price. I cant really go over $120 as far as my budget goes right now.

So... here's the catch! Building a new rig and going straight to Skylake from laptop (yeah I know that's a big leap!). I will be using this for extreme gaming and mild rendering (3D). Now all the parts are settled, it finally came down to the main one!! So which is better, comparing to the price? Is the extra cash on the ROG board worth it?? I like the looks though!! And here's the rest of my system... 1. Intel Core i5 6600K 2. Corsair H100i 3. Asus Strix R9 390 Direct CU III 4. GSkill Trident Z 8X2 (3200 MHz) 5. Adata SP550 240GB SSD 6. Seasonic M12II 620W 80+ Bronze 7. NZXT H440 Red/Black *note: I'm planning to overclock till smoke comes out of my cpu!! *note: will upgrade the ram (32GB) and cpu (6700K) in about a year *note: might add another 390 at the same time of upgrading cpu and ram if you guys have any suggestions other than these two within the price bracket, please do mention!! anyone has first hand experience on these or any other Z170? share your thoughts!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE for your valuable opinions people!! ROG: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS-VIII-RANGER/ Pro Gaming: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z170-PRO-GAMING/

I am building a new computer as an upgrade from my PC that I bought in 2013 as a newegg shellshocker deal. I am looking to spend under $150 USD, but if the motherboard has enough features then I am willing to spend up to $170 USD. I'm looking to overclock my processor but have never done it so I want a very solid motherboard that won't die on me. Also if an I5 6600K along with a LGA 1151 socket mobo isn't very much more expensive then I would be willing to cough up the money for one of those. Any suggestions? I would also prefer if it had a red and black color scheme but that isn't at the top of my priority list Parts: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gMJkYJ

I was going to buy a full ATX motherboard for my new build: ASUS B150-PLUS D3 LGA 1151 Intel B150 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX But then my friend suggested that I get a micro ATX because it can support all my expansion cards (graphics and wireless network) but if half the price. I know that motherboards don't effect the computer's performance, but are there any other drawbacks to having a Micro ATX? Can most micro ATX boards support intel i7 processors, and if so, are they more expensive in that case? Also, are there generally enough fan control thingys on the board to control two case fans and a CPU fan? Thanks for any help i really appreciate it. -insta kill

Hello, I am planning on building a small computer in the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Itx. I am going to be using a Intel Pentium G3258 (and before you say go z170, I only need the pc to last 2/3 years and I can upgrade to a 4690k or 4790k anyway, which is why I want to go z97.) I plan on cooling the cpu with a NZXT Kraken X31 (unless there is something else you would suggest) and therefore am hoping for some healthy overclocks. The PC will be sitting on my desk (hence itx) and it will be used for school work and gaming. Games I play frequently are GTA V, Project Cars, CSGO and Just Cause 3. I would ideally like to play these games at good settings in 1080p 60fps, however I know that the budget (of £600/$900 max although ideally less) may not accomodate this and as such 30fps is ok. My Current Parts List is this: PCPartPicker part list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Pd8G99 Price breakdown by merchant: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Pd8G99/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor (£51.96 @ Aria PC) CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X31 69.5 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£54.89 @ Aria PC) Motherboard: MSI Z97I AC Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard (£89.99 @ Amazon UK) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£31.08 @ Amazon UK) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£31.08 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£57.70 @ Amazon UK) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card (£158.99 @ Ebuyer) Case: Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ITX Mini ITX Tower Case (£45.98 @ CCL Computers) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£63.31 @ Amazon UK) Total: £584.98 The parts list above is not what it will necessarily look like. I am planning on adding a second 250gb 850 EVO later and also the second stick of ram (which is why 2 sticks are listed). So my questions are: What is the best z97 itx motherboard? (The max I can spend on one is £110/$160) Is there anything I have overlooked, or any parts I should swap out? Is the 4gb 960 worth it? Thanks for any help

So I decided to buy some parts to build my first PC from Newegg, when I received my shipment for the parts, I proceeded to open my Asrock z97 motherboard when I did, stupid me decided to remove the cover for the socket, I then proceeded to put it back on but instead I accidentally hit the CPU pins and bent two of them, now I'm freaking out and not sure if I should call Newegg or Asrock for a RMA or purchase a extended warranty from newegg that says it covers accidental damage but I'm not sure if it covers bent CPU pins or if it's to late, also it costs 12 U.S. dollars. Please help me, thanks!

Hi! I have a $350 (US) budget. I want to upgrade something, but I need your guys' awesome input - would a new CPU or graphics card influence my performance more? Here is my current build - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PGKc8d I've wanted to move from and AMD chip to an Intel chip and board, and I have the opportunity now, and also the chance to upgrade the graphics card too but I can't afford both. So it's either - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YN6BhM or - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cwyy23 Which would yield more performance for my money?? Feedback is very appreciated

Gday folks! Just a quick question here. How much would I get for a Gigabyte GA-P55a UD3P Motherboard on EBay? It is in great condition and has no damage to it. Please note this is in Australia! Thanks!

So I noticed that when you have a laptop the hdd/ssd is usually connected by a single sata/power in one. Why aren't we seeing these on desktop motherboards at all? Or are there some and I just don't know about them. I could see if you couldn't have these with like, 5 or more drives because of power draw but I feel like from a cable management bonus stand point it'd be worth it for 2-3.

Hey guys and girls i was wondering I almost always see Tek Syndicate, Linus, JayzTwoCents, and other PC builders use Asus motherboards. I am wondering why nobody deviates away from Asus. What's the reason do Asus really produce really high end motherboards better than everyone else. I personally prefer a gigabyte motherboard over Asus they usuallly tend to provide better features for a better price.
