I've been getting a gaming PC setup over the past week or so, and I was ready to plug in a monitor to see if everything worked, and nothing happened, I then noticed that just about every red LED that can turn on, did turn on. I don't know why, but something's totally buggered, any help? I'm new to PC building, so just don't have a clue. Thanks. Specs if useful. Hi, so I bought an Asus X99-A motherboard, and the manual talks about a fan extension card sold separately. I'm trying to find a place to by one other than sketchy ebay vendors, but so far I've come up empty. Does anyone know where one might be available from a non super-sketchy place?

Hello, and thanks for reading this already! I just don't know which one of these to pick, the Gaming 7 or the Maximus VII Hero. If you own one of these two, can you say the pros and cons? Looking at that, maybe an answer will appear for me! Thanks in advance! EDIT: I'm going big or going home, I'm willing to pay for a good motherboard!

Hello people of the information super highways, today with my very first post on this fourm I come with the quest of how in the world do I upgrade my bios for the MS-7721 A58M-E33 Motherboard. Now I am tryying at these bios updates for compatibility issues with a CPU I have recently bouught, now whenever I run the bios updates (After I have extracted the file) it comes up with the message of "This app cant run on your PC, to find a version for you PC check with your software developer. Now I am currently running the BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. V32.5, 3/20/2014, now I just need to know how to get this version of BIOS (http://www.msi.com/support/mb/A58ME33.html#down-bios the version on the top) onto my computer, I am so confused by the error message all I want is new bios so I can install my new CPU supported by the lastest BIOS version on MSI's website. I would really appreciate if you could help please it explain it to my as if I were two because I honestly cant get a clue with this. Thanks people.

CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory Compatibility
jet_li posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi guys, First post here, I'm building a gaming rig which I will also use for some occasional 3D CAD modelling and rendering. I don't think I can afford the i7-4790K so I'm going to settle for the i5-4690K and OC it to about 4.4 GHz, possibly higher depending on what cooling system I settle on. The motherboard I'm going with is the MSI Z 97 PC Mate, an Intel Z97 Express chipset, which supports the CPU just fine. My problem is the memory. I'm based over in Ireland, and while looking for some Corsair 2 x 8 GB 1600MHz DDR3, I found it was approximately €160 for the kit from an Irish retailer, while on Amazon.co.uk I could get 2400MHz DDR3 HyperX Savage 2 x 8 GB for €131. Will my MOB support the RAM? And in another respect, is it just a waste of money I could be pumping into a GPU? I would like to keep the 16GB RAM, the engineering programs are RAM intensive, but I was more wondering about the 2400MHz speeds and the compadibility! Thanks in advance guys! -
Apparently my ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 motherboard has been the culprit behind CPU throttling in my PC. I was just wondering what AM3+ motherboards are recommended for around £50-£70/$75-$100. Which wouldn't throttle and would be compatible with my PC: GPU: Gigabyte HD 7950 (Stock OC'd to 900 MHz) PSU: Corsair CX750M CPU: FX-8120 CPU Fan: Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme RAM: 4x4GB, Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, CL9 Case: Cooler Master Elite 330 (Mid Tower)

So I might be upgrading from a i5-760 to a i7-5820k (yay!!!) and I will also be upgrading my motherboard and RAM. I was looking at the MSI X99S SLI Plus due to the fact that it is less expensive than other options with the amount of features, I also like the full black motherboard! My question are: How reliable is this motherboard as it is my first MSI product? How is the overclocking on this motherboard? I have a H110 to cool this And any notable issues? My upgrade list: Intel i7-5820K MSI X99S SLI Plus HyperX Predator 16GB 2400

Hey guys, I am going to be building my very first gaming/recording/editing PC. Right now i am very confused on what to buy and what not to buy. I want to buy either Asus or Gigabyte. So i was just going through their websites and i just got totally lost. There are so many models!!! I couldn't make up my mind, so i came here for an expert opinion B) . I DON'T WANT A "GAMING" MOTHERBOARD. I have a few requirements for the motherboard:- 1) 50$-160$ 2) Asus or Gigabyte Only 3) Must come with at least 4 SATA cables. 4) not more than 2 PCIe ports for video card 5) I don't require SATA Express Ports I will be using a Core I7-4790k with 16 gigs of ddr3 ram. Please suggest me which model I should buy!!

Hello, and thanks for reading this already! I'm planning on getting the MSI Gaming Z97 Gaming 7, but maybe there are better, cheaper alternatives? It must have: Red colors (A big yes for color based builds). Nvidia SLI support. 1GB per second Ethernet (but that's pretty much basic). Intel's 1150 socket. Also, I do not need an integrated Wi-Fi module, I've got one planned out for when it's not integrated Thanks in advance! (Side question, what is the best? UEFI or BIOS?)

Which is a better motherboard? The G45 from MSI, or the MSI Gaming 5? If there are any better options please tell me.

Is time to me to upgrade! on a budget, ok I'm going to keep this a short as possible. Ok my needs I'm attemptin to be a graphic designer and a memebr of adobe creative cloud so I use Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro and After Effects quite heavily so a lot of cores would be nice, but I will like to enjoy some gaming too (WarThunder, Arma III, H1Z1 ect..,). Budget: $600 NOTE: I can't take advantage of rebates (I'm outside of the US) Things I have: Periferals (Mouse & Keyboard) Monitor PC Case (Standard ATX Mortheboard Size) A Graphics Card (EVGA GT 740 FTW) I know is not the best but is what I got. EVGA 430W 80Plus Power Supply Things I need: Motherboard CPU 8GB Memory RAM (can be more as long as it is within the budget) Hard Drive (SSD+HDD combo or Hibird would be nice) Note: The FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition is what I have in mind for the CPU but I want to see what you guys think. Sorry for the bad English

Hey everyone! So I am on a a budget and I was planning to build a new pc primarily for gaming. Someone suggested me this build for under $700 (my budget). And I have a few questions.... (I am horrible when it comes to these things ) Build Suggested: CPU: Intel Core i3-4160 3.6GHz Dual-Core Processor ($138.98 @ DirectCanada) Motherboard: ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($100.44 @ DirectCanada) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($79.99 @ Canada Computers) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($58.98 @ DirectCanada) Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 270 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card ($189.64 @ TigerDirect Canada) Case: Thermaltake Versa H21 ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.05 @ Vuugo) Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($82.21 @ TigerDirect Canada) So my questions are as follow: - Will the graphics card be able to run two monitors? - Will this PC be able to run modern games at high settings while running 2 monitors at the same time? I am planning to use the BenQ XL2411Z Monitor, if that matters - Is the case the right size? - Is this a decent build? Thank you so much for the help! I am very new at this and I appreciate any help that is given to me! Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong forum

I am tired of my laptop and don't want to buy a new computer that will just become outdated in 6 months. I want to build my own computer that can handle many of the games that I have on my steam account. Most demanding games are GTA 4 and Dead Rising 3.These are two different computer builds that I am working on. I love the idea of having a purely custom-made computer, and I want make sure that I do not buy something and end up wasting money on pieces that I don't need. Let me know how my set up is and if there is any major changes that I need to make or any suggestions that you would do to make this a more enjoyable computer. I am also going to be getting a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and speakers. I like a tactical keyboard and am current looking towards the Microsoft - Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop Wireless USB Keyboard and Mouse. I am going all out, so help is greatly appreciated.

Alternate Motherboard to the Z97-G45?
ValuedBuffalo posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
So in a fortnight i will be building my first build and am most likely going to use the i5-4690k and am going to overclock. i have been recommended the MSI Z97-G45 gaming (https://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-z97g45gaming) by several people but coming in at $190 AUD i was wondering if there was anything that offered the same features (or slightly less that gets rid of unimportant ones) at a better price point or if there was a motherboard that had different features but was more worthwhile? i am not concerned about colour because i can change the model/colour of my GPU easily enough. i really don't want to overspend if i don't need to so then i have some money left over for shipping which i only realised recently is not included in pcpartpicker (i can pick some of it up) . if anybody is interested in the whole build here it is http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/wMy24D opinions would be great, thanks heaps- 3 replies
