I was wondering if you guys could look at my list of parts and tell me what you think of it. Specifically, I just want to make sure that the CPU and motherboard are compatible, but any other feedback would also be greatly appreciated! http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ngvandyke/saved/Rhnbt6

So I'm using a s5000psl motherboard (server-board) and I'm trying to USB install windows 7 ultimate x64bit on the hard drives i have hooked up. Everything boots like its supposed to, however there's a problem when I get to the windows install on the HDD (i have two hooked up). I get an error: "Windows Cannot Be Installed to This Disk. This Computer's Hardware May not Support Booting to This Disk." Here are some solutions I've tried: 1. The system reads the HDDs because they're on the screen. I've tried deleting the drives, restarting then trying the "New" option and formatting then trying to install. I get the same error. 2. Going into the BIOS and switching the SATA drive to AHCI (I get the same error as above) 3. I've tried deleting the drives, restarting the hardware, then trying the "New" option and formatting then trying to install the OS. I get the same error. 4. I also tried windows server 2012, since this is a server board... (The system will not read the HDDs because they're not on the screen when I enable AHCI.) SIDE NOTE: >>> The HDDs I have connected don't seem to be displayed in the BIOS as they are hooked up via SATA cables. Could this be a source of my issue?? Please help me try to figure out why this server board or OS is preventing me from installing on the HDDs I have. Do I need to buy new ones? Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hello, currently in the process of upgrading my rig. I got an asus 7170-ar motherboard with an intel i5-6600k. Some new ram , now im deciding on what gpu and monitor to buy. Its been awhile since I've gamed on my pc (some serious health issues, brain injury) and moving homes left me out of pcs and everything that goes along with them. I used to try to keep up to date knowledge wise or as well informed as I could be. Basically now im searching for a monitor and gpu. I'm grasping the amd freesync nvidia gsync how certain monitors work best or are built to work better with certain cards. I currently have an nvidia 660ti and Samsung 27" monitor that looks just awful im my opinion,. I had an auria high resolution display years back when they were quite the hype and were fairly cheap the first series before they had the matte screens, but I returned the monitor when I knew I wasnt going to be able to use my pc for sometime. I know this is a question that will get many different responses and I've tried searching for the answer but I have a very hard time comprehending and understanding certain things since my injury/health problems. I'm looking to get either a 25"-27" (I dont think I can afford bigger than that with the key features such as high resolution and high fps) and a new GPU that corresponds with the suggested monitor for anywhere between $600-$900. So , if it wouldn't be too much trouble, would anyone care to share what specific monitor and graphics card they would buy. I apologize beforehand for a question that normally can be researching quite easily but truth be told I'm having a hell of a time and get very frustrated trying to acclimate to my new current situation and could use any advice one may be willing to share. I suffer from severe short term memory loss so I will set reminders to check for responses but if anyone wouldn't mind emailing me their suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys for taking the time to read this. Sorry for the numbskull question I just figured this would be the best place to turn for some guidance.

Can MotherBoard Kill GPU? And IF YES how ?

MB: Asus Z97-A Processor: Intel i7 4790k Graphics Card: Nvidia EVGA GTX 970 4GB OS: Windows 7 Memory: DDR3: Kingston Duel Channel 16GB I'm not quite sure what to do here. This happens about 75-80% of the time. Either my Boot device LED comes on, VGA LED comes on, or both turn on. I kinda just press the reset switch on my case until it comes through and it starts to load up my OS. I'm not quite sure what else to say, my monitor doesn't come to life when the LEDs are on, but I imagine you all already assumed that.

I was playing a game earlier and walked about for an hour and came back to a blue screen that had stopped at 85%. I rebooted my computer and got no image on the screen. Not even a bios logo. Everything runs and I can heard all of the fans going but the power buttons on the case and motherboard are not responding. I tried switching the bios and still no luck. The Post code is 00.

What would be the best budget MB choice for Intel Xeon E3-1230 v3 (3,3GHz, LGA1150, 8MB). I want something cheap but if something much better would be just for few € more than I would probably go with that. I would like it to have: PCIE 3.0 SATA 3 connectors and at least one SATA 2 (maybe even 1 old PATA if i sometime in the future have to connect ancient HDD but that is optional) USB 2.0 and 3.0 rear and front dual channel RAM DD3 1600+ 2 slots should be enough (i am not planning to use more than 16GB) PCI slots are optional but one or two would be nice if they would be still usable with graphic card (i am planning to use R9 270) and of course compatible socket So far these caught my attention: MB GIGABYTE H81M-S2PV (1150) MB MSI H81M-P32L/ IntelH81 (1150) MB GIGABYTE H81M-D3H/ Intel H81/ LGA1150 MB MSI B85M-E45/ IntelB85 (1150) Ordered by what I am most likely to choose based on my own noob research.

I bought a new PC with an 600 VA UPS for back up. To check if my UPS has enough juice to back my PC during power failures, I switched of my mains while browsing and my PC continued to run as my UPS kicked in. A few hours later was playin NFS Rivals on max and all of a sudden there was an actual power failure and this time my PC died instantly as if there was no UPS, after which it restarted on its own with a message saying "Asus anti surge protection triggered due to an unstable PSU". I am really worried that I damaged my PC... What could be the solution My Spec: AMD FX 6300 Sapphire R9 270x Asus M5A78L/M USB 3.0 Corsair Vengeance 8 GB Seagate Barracuda 1 TB Corsair VS 550 W PSU

Can anyone give me some details about a DCCFX-P2 "paddle card"? I gather that it's used for a hybrid xfire setup between cpu/onboard gfx and a dedicated card. I just found it in an older pc and I'd like to know more about it.

Okay, so after watching quite a lot of Linus' videos I decided to come over to his site and get some answers, forgive my lack of knowledge. In some of his recent videos when he's building a 4 machine work station and some cooling system I noticed that when he's building a rig with a Xeon processor and 16 GB RAM, that not being the point, he starts up the system after a video cut and appears to be in an already existing OS!!? I tried building a machine with an existing hard drive and it didn't boot and after investigating a little, apparently you cannot achieve this without formatting the drive (unless cloning the system onto an external drive and then later copying it on after installing the OS for the first time); the reason being that the motherboard is somehow tied down to the hard drive. If anyone knows a way of getting and already OS installed hard drive onto another (not necessarily new) motherboard without formatting or cloning it, please tell me. Thanks If anyone cares, the components I used were: ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 Mother Board 8 GB of DDR3 RIP JAWS RAM Some AMD Processor I think 3.10 GHz some GPU I don't care to mention 1 TB SATA 3 Seagate Hard Drive

Hey guys so through lots of research and many screw ups and hardware changes ( going from a 2,000$ build down to 1,500$ then 1,000$ then saying F***K it and eliminating my budget completely and arriving at my total now of 3,200$ ) I'm wondering if anyone sees any problems with this build. The problem I see the most is my case which I went with because I originally was going to run a solo 770 so I didn't think overheating would be a problem and I wouldn't be adding a CPU cooler. It was also one of the first things I purchased. Also my mother board, will this be sufficient?? CPU : Intel i7 4770K CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i Mother Board: Asus Maximus Hero LGA 1150 Memory : Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x4GB 1866 GPU : EVGA 780ti w/cooler Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7,200RPM CASE: Raidmax Agusta Full tower (Replaced all fans with upgraded corsair fans) 3x120mm Sickleflow/ 3x80mmBlade master PSU: EVGA Supernova 850W Optical drive: Asus Black Blu-ray Drive OS: Windows 7 Home premium Monitor: Asus pb278q 27" 1440p Wireless network adapter: Asus pce-ac68 I know I should have gotten a bigger/better case as I can only put a smaller cpu cooler in this case with out modding. My main question however is with my mother board. Should I have upgraded to the maximus formula or extreme? Or should the hero be fine for what I have? Like I said before the reason I went with the case I did and the Motherboard is because I was only going to use 1 x GTX 770 . O and while im at it when the time comes (probably about/atleast 12 months hopefully) I want to add a second 780ti should I be good just to throw on the SLI bridge cable and be good or would any of you recommend upgrading a few components first?? Thank you , this is my first build and want to make sure im not limiting myself or anything. I ordered all of the parts within the past 3-4 days so everything should get here about the same time!! Thanks for the help!!

Hey, just recently I got my hands on a GTX 770 and I try to install it, and My MoBo Rejected it. I read and I saw it might be a bios issue, so I go and get an updated BIOS from my MoBo Maker. I Went into my bios and Try Upgrading it, but it just gives me Beeps when ever I turn it on now. I assume this means I bricked my BIOS so I have decided to buy a new Mother Board rather than replacing the Chip. I have came to ask if this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131837 P8Z77 would be compatible with my ASUS Direct CU II gtx 770

Hi everyone, I am planning to build a gaming PC and got stuck with choosing CPU and motherboard. I decided to go with intel i7-6700k processor, 64 Gbits of quad channel memory and any motherboard that supports at least 2 gtx 1080 graphic cards. The question now is, does i7-6700k support quad channel memory? does it support 2 PCIe x16 for SLI? Does it support 3200mhz RAM speed? I went through intel specification list for i7-6700k, it said it supports dual channel memory, 16 PCIe lanes. I am not sure what it means by PCIe configurations (Attached Image).

What is the best z77 motherboard for $100. Gonna pair it with a 3570k and hope to overclock a bit.
