I notice opinions on this topics change over time. 10 years ago, many would've said 1080p is perfectly fine for 25" and there's barely a difference between 1440p and 4K on a monitor. (Though we will eventually hit the point where where a resolution increasing further won't be noticeable without monitors getting uncomfortably larger. 8K might be that point). Assuming a viewing distance of an arm's length (2-2.5 feet). Thoughts?

I'm in the market for two monitors, meeting the following requirements: Prospective Resolution: 3840 X 2160 Size: 27/28 inches Aspect Ratio: 16 : 9 Adaptive Sync: GSync Other Features: True HDR would be nice From a reliable brand - likely to see 10+ hrs use a day VESA 80x80 or 100x100 (i have a dual monitor arm that only supports these mounting options) Inbuilt USB C hub for my Macbook - though can get one elsewhere and mount it behind my monitor Usage Type: Gaming (2-3 hrs a day) General Productivity (I am a software engineer, 7-8 hrs a day) Other notes: UK based so some monitors e.g. Innocn 27m2v are not available Current thinking: LG Ultragear 27GR39U-B Computex was just on, and there wasn't really much announced that meets this spec, while it was on LG quietly announced the 27GR93U-B. A lot of buying guides recommend it's predecessor - the discontinued LG 27GP950-B. I've been informed LG usually has pretty good build quality? I'll be using this for many years, daily for 10+ hrs - I want something that will last. Cooler master Tempest GP27U I've seen good reviews of this (Rtings), and understand it had firmware issues at release, which are now addressed. But there appears to be an ongoing flicker issues? Though I can avoid that through disabling the combination of HDR and Adaptive Refresh Rate? I'm leaning towards it, but not really sure about it given the "beta like" nature of the product described on other sites, and not sure about the longevity of a cooler master monitor.

Hey everyone, I'm in need of some serious help combatting ignorance, arrogance, and stinginess at work when it comes to monitors. The Background & Story I got authorization to get new monitors for myself at work. This came after being stuck with some old recycled Dell 21.5" (1080x1920) (that were bought well over a decade ago), I've been suffering from extremely bad headaches, migraines, and sore muscles (bad posture to compensate to use the monitors); finally my supervisor had me do an ergonomic evaluation. They were not happy that I was using such small monitors nor the fact that they were not adjustable (I have them stacked on boxes for height), they recommended that I get larger and better monitors. (Along with a desk that is not 25 year old and desk chair to match.) So I set out looking for new monitors that were somewhere in the neighborhood of ~27-30" (3840x2160) monitors. I found several that were brighter, had better contrast, etc. for around the $360; which to me is not a bad price. I write a report and send it off to the uppers so they can order the displays. This is where things take a turn. For the worst. The response I got was pretty infuriating. They said that anything over 24" in size and/or greater than 1080x1920 in resolution is not considered ergonomic, thus are not acceptable. They then sent me the info and ordering sheet for a monitor that will be ordered instead. Needless to say at this point I am extremely annoyed about the whole thing. The monitor is a ViewSonic VG2448, 24", 1080x1920, which the contracted price for us is $340. Now I'm in the situation that I either get stuck with these monitors for the. Well next eternity. Or if I can find enough sources and studies about UHD monitors, PPI, and screen size, etc. I can actually force them to update their ergonomic standards. This would be amazing for all my coworkers as we are so tired of being handed fourth rate products because, it's what a disconnected 65YO ordering manager thinks what is acceptable. More than half of my office work is working in ArcMap or Arc Pro, along with a lot of reading, excel, and data work. I've spent several hours looking for research papers on ergonomics in regards to ppi, resolution, screen size, etc. and I have come up with mostly nothing. If anyone has some solid sources or anything I can use to bolster my argument I would serious appreciate it. I'm tired of coming home sore, with a migraine, and having to sleep my evening & night away to get relief. TLDR: Got told at work to order new monitors. Sent an order up for some 3840x2160 monitors. Got told anything over 24" screen size and/or more than 1080 is not ergonomic thus not allowed. Was told the only acceptable monitor an overpriced 24" 1080 ViewSonic panel. Only way to stop this madness is to force them to acknowledge that "Ergonomic" is not and does not stop at 24" 1080x1920. P.S. First time poster, long time lurker. I'm in need of some help, I can't take the apathy, ineptitude, and technological illiteracy of my upper management. Go easy on me, I'm dying over here.

Hi, so this has been bothering me for a while now but I really want a tv that has hot-swappable cards for everything including the power supply. On top of having an open source tv os experience, I don’t need my tv to be smart. I have an Apple TV that can do it for me. I just want to be able to purchase a 55 inch monitor then plug in my power supply, HTML ports, and more. Then have a seamless experience. if I need to update or calibrate the tv then guess what I either flash it on a usb or do it wirelessly with a button toggle to allow it.

I am looking to upgrade my monitor, 144hz Zowie XL2311P, for a monitor that is at least 240hz. I just want it to be 24", 1080p, at least 240hz, good response time, and great motion clarity non of that ghosting stuff. I am stepping away from TN monitors since I heard IPS monitors can match TN monitors now in refresh, response and motion blur plus the better image quality. VA panels I'd rather avoid because I did have a few 144hz VA monitors in the past and they all had obvious ghosting whenever I play darker games, motion clarity on VAs back then did not even compare to TNs but I heard they are better now but if you are used to TNs better motion clarity you will notice, at least from what I heard. I have a list of available monitors in the store where I live but I just cannot decide what to get or if they actually differ that much. I can forgive color quality and viewing angles because I come from a TN monitor and I will mostly be gaming and looking at white a white screen for work but I just can't take ghosting in game and poor motion quality or motion blur. I need the higher refresh rate because I play a lot of competitive FPS like csgo and valorant. I will post screenshots of the monitors available to me and the pricing is in Philippine Pesos. How does the cheapest compare to the most expensive one? Is there a brand to avoid or one that is infamous for ghosting or smearing? Personal experiences with any of these monitors? Is the jump from 240hz to 390hz worth the almost $100 price jump? Or are the features really worth the extra cash? I just really want something that is plug-and-play and is at par with my current Zowie monitor in terms of motion blur/clarity but at a higher refresh rate. I know I am asking a shit ton of questions, lol, but hey if you have steam or into csgo I could trade you a skin or two for the help.

Hello, I have an issue where the bottom part of the screen is cut off/flcikers when refresh rate is 144hz. Everything works ok on 120hz. GPU is rtx 2060 zotac Monitor is aoc 27G2G4 The cable I'm using to connect GPU and monitor is DisplayPort. You can see the issue on the first image what it looks like. Funny part is - it is able to render everything ok when the background is light (shown in the video), even on 144hz. What could be the issue, the monitor or the GPU? Or something completely different? 346933879_6562212837130741_4539880826379438538_n.mp4

Budget (including currency): £1000 (flexible, laptops already purchased) Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Laptop is going to be used mainly for esports titles like Valorant, CSGO and LoL. Maybe the odd triple A but not gunning for super high frames on those, happy with 60+ Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): This is the real kicker. I'm trying to figure out how to set this up and what things I would need to buy. I work from home, with a work-provided laptop. I also game on a laptop but plugged into a 144hz monitor. The monitor's getting old and I miss having a 3 monitor set up from back when I PC gamed. In an ideal world, I would want my work laptop on the left, 3 monitors in the middle (with the central one being 1440p 144hz, others don't matter too much), and my 'gaming' laptop on the right. Currently, I have to swap all the cables over every time I finish work. I'm sure there must be something out there that I can switch at the press of a button but my google attempts have been unsuccessful. The biggest conundrum for me really has been how to get the monitors all hooked up. My work laptop is a ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE (2 x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (1 needed for power), 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1x HDMI(unsure the version)). My gaming laptop is an Acer Nitro 5 n22c1 (1x Thunderbolt 4, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2). It's just the 3 monitors (one 144hz1440p, others just aesthetically pleasing could even be 60hz wouldn't matter), whatever dock(s) might be needed, and how to route everything that I'm having trouble with. Thanks in advance guys!

I have the RX 6700 XT paired with a 24" 1080p, 144Hz Freesync Premium monitor (TN panel, SDR) that I purchased in 2017. With my budget of $250 (and under) I'm wondering if I should upgrade to: 1) A newer 24" 1080p, 165Hz IPS or VA monitor 2) A 27" 1440p, 144Hz IPS or VA monitor 3) Forget upgrading altogether and keep Old Faithful Note that both (1) and (2) comes with Freesync Premium and HDR technologies. I should also mention that I have no problem maintaining 144 FPS while gaming. What advice would you give and why?

This has been happening for the last 3 weeks and whenever I'm playing a game my monitors will turn off and all my fans ramp up but I can still hear audio like my friends in discord and they can here me (it also happened when I was doing a bench mark but only one time and not again) I've tried different DisplayPort slots on my GPU and it still happens I've also did a clean install of my drivers and its still happing I've been monitoring my CUP and GPU temps and my CPU got a high of 60°C and my GPU at 75°C when I'm playing and then my monitors shut off and the problem starts again I built this PC three years ago and the only upgrade I've made was my CPU cooler its been on my rig for 4 month and its been fine (Idk if that could be the problem) PC SPECS power supply. Seasonic FOCUS GM-750, 750W motherboard. gigabyte x570 ud CPU AMD Ryzen 7 3800x CPU cooler. h100i elite (newly added) GPU. RTX 2080 super GPU drivers. NVIDIA 431.41 Operating system. Good evening! I’m coming to the tech people to ask if my Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti would be able to run dual ASUS ProArt PA278QV monitors at 1440p resolution and at about 65 to 70 hz. Unfortunately, I don’t really have the resources to test this before purchasing, so I’m relying on you guys!!

Hi all, I am looking to buy a new monitor around £300, and I am currently trying to pick from these two monitors - the Dell S2721QS and the ASUS ProArt PA278QV. Both are IPS 27 inch monitors, with the ASUS at 1440p and the Dell at 4K. Manufacturer Links: Dell 27 4K UHD Monitor: S2721QS | Dell UK (not in stock, but can still be brought over the phone) ProArt Display PA278QV|Monitors|ASUS Global RTings: Dell S2721QS Review - RTINGS.com ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV Review - RTINGS.com Uses: Video editing & basic graphics making (namely (print) posters for charity events) Programming Typing up documents Browsing the web & watching YouTube I do not game Both of these monitors are recommended by RTings for programming and video editing, though the Dell is seen as "better". The ASUS has also received a good review from PC Monitors (but the Dell is yet to be reviewed) I should note that I am currently running off of Intel HD 630 integrated graphics, but I am hoping to upgrade to a RTX 2060 Super from a friend when he gets a RTX 3000 series card (someday it'll happen!). Pros and Cons that I have also considered: Dell has HDR, but I don't game and have a TV for HDR content (and I rarely watch TV anyway) ASUS has better I/O - but I don't think I need it ASUS has better factor colour calibration; however, I don't do anything colour critical (mostly hobby video editing, sometimes for a YouTube channel) so I'm unsure if colour accuracy is important - but I do strive for high production quality when I make videos. I also can't afford my own colour calibrator. Dell is 4K - loads more screen real estate, but unfortunately, I've heard from a friend Windows' display scaling isn't that great, and I want to end up with more screen real estate than the 24 inch 1080p monitor I currently have. The Dell cheaper than the ASUS, however, I'd need to order directly from Dell and it'll take 43 days+ to arrive (the ASUS one is available from SCAN UK with presumably quick delivery) Overall, both look like solid monitors, however I'm struggling to decide, especially since it relies on factors that I don't have first-hand experience of - namely, how 4K at 27inch is like to use, how Windows scaling looks and if it is necessary at 4K/1440p and weighing factor calibration (which might not be that important for my uses) vs 4K. Thanks in advance!

I have a lower tier that pc that is running an i5-3470 and an msi gt 1030 lp oc. I recently put the gpu in the rig and when I did that on the first boot both my monitors worked, but every other time I boot it after that my second monitor wont show a screen. I have tried to plug it into vga, and hdmi from multiple sources on my gpu and my motherboard but it will not show an image. I am led to belive that this is a software/driver issue because when I boot the pc without the gpu in the monitor works just fine, and it works when I boot it with the gpu the first time, but other than that it will not show an image. I have looked into the windows display options and windows does see the moniotor but I can't figure out why it won't boot. Monitor 1: HP Z24i Monitor 2 (The one that wont work): Dell E22WFPc

While playing Dota today, a thought crossed my mind "this would feel a lot better to play on an 1:1 monitor". In top down games threat can come from any point on the screen so it doesn't make a lot of sence to limit your vertical feild of view which is exactly what modern widecreen monitors do. Feeling exited I started googling 1:1 monitors but was let down upon realizing that there's basicaly only one company (Eizo) making monitors in this format and that they are expensive as hell. Surely im not the only one who likes an idea of a 1:1 monitor. Are there any alternatives to these overprices things out there?

hi, I'm not a beginner in pc world , I am a geek with hardware but when it comes to monitors i only know refresh rate , panel type , response time , resolution. so I want to go deeper into monitors world as I found reviewers in their reviews saying a lot of terms that i don't understand so if anyone knows a professional video or playlist or course that let me understand all of this things please share with me thanks
