Summary There is very interesting post on reddit detailing panel technology future. If you are like me, and you're just waiting for OLED monitors to really hit the market this year.. maybe read this reddit post first, just to get some insight for the coming months. Quotes My thoughts I would love to get me some 160+ PPI 27~ 4K OLED high quality panel, with whatever solid brand name slapped on it. Guess i'll have to wait at least 1 or 2 more years. Sources

I'm wondering if this would allow the 2nd monitor that's only connected by HDMI to the other monitor, that's connected to my laptop by DP to Mini-DP cable, to allow me to extend the display? When I had plugged in my main monitor to my laptop by DP to Mini-DP, that's fine, but when I plugged in my other monitor to the already connected monitor I heard a clicking noise coming from the 2nd monitor. The 2nd monitor was not plugged in to an outlet, only the HDMI cable, yet I still heard a clicking noise. Is it dangerous to do? Will one, or both, monitors blow up? I've included a blueprint as to help illustrate what I'm talking about. (And yes, I can plug the 2nd monitor into my laptop with the HDMI cable, while my main monitor is also connected with the DP to Mini-DP cable, but I'm still wondering what would happen.)

I found an additional 240hz monitor lying around and thought I'd use it as a discord monitor (portrait mode) but when I activate portrait mode it caps itself to 60hz. is there a way to get around this or is it meant to only be 60hz in portrait mode? The monitor works in 240hz in both hdmi and dp so that's nice! I tried switching out cables, changing which output and also trying with display port but nothing appears to help it achieve higher than 60hz in portrait mode.

Hiya, I'm working from home these days, and have my home and work computers connected to the same monitors (mostly). My 2 main monitors have multiple inputs, so they are connected to both computers. I had no trouble switching inputs on my previous GPUs (Nvidia GTX970 / RTX2080), but since I changed to the AMD 6950XT it's giving me some trouble. Note I'm using the screen buttons to change inputs, as reconnecting the cable in the home PC does make it work. I just would like to be able to switch inputs again normally. I generally start my home PC first, everything is fine. Once the work PC is booted up I switch inputs, no problem here. I can now work away on my work PC using both my main screens. Now at times I might want to switch to my home PC (some time for legit work reasons, other time for break shenanigans). On the Nvidia GPU's I had no trouble with this, on the AMD card it is unfortunately not working out that well anymore. If I try and switch back to my home PC (display port) on Monitor 1, it just goes to black - and back to my work pc (back to HDMI input). It's not detecting a signal basically. (Home PC is still running, have a 3rd monitor attached to that directly that's still showing an active signal). If I just take the DP cable out of the home pc for a second and plug it back in, I can switch to it right away. If I try and switch back to my home PC (hdmi) on Monitor 2, it takes a few seconds to change but does change back. It can change back and forth properly (albeit slowly, more of a struggle than before). The way it's setup: Monitor 1: DisplayPort to Home pc HDMI to Work pc. (hdmi 1.2) Monitor 2: DisplayPort to Work pc. HDMI to Home pc. (hdmi 1.2) Halp! :D. I'm hoping it's something simple and straight forward, a setting in the AMD software perhaps that I've not found (not used AMD gpu's in a loooooong time).

Hello there! I'm hoping I can get some help with a complicated situation with my monitor's Displayport. I've heard for a long time that DP cables can be iffy at best, specially with the dubious quality going around with cheap cables; however, I'd gotten scott free of trouble for about 2 years now. Couple days back I started getting problems out of the blue. Sudden black screening would come and go randomly. every so often, it'd flicker for 2-3 seconds, then spring back to life. It wouldn't happen that often. Eventually the flickering got way worse. The black screen would remain for longer, it'd flicker maybe 10-15 times, and it would just go insane like that every 5 minutes or so. Eventually there was even artifacting going on, that was when I gave up and switched to my monitor's HDMI input. All 3 HDMI inputs (a single 2.0 and two 1.4 version) work perfectly fine, not a single problem, even now. I wondered then if maybe the monitor's DP port had broken, or if it had just been the cable. I hoped for the best and bought a new cable. Now granted, it had to be one of those dubious ones. Budget limitations and shipping costs are a pain in the butt. So anyways, I try using this new cable, SEEMS to work for a single night. Next morning, flickering is back. This time, the worsening happened WAY faster, in a single afternoon. Eventually, just like with the older cable, the monitor would get stuck on a black screen, trying to handshake the GPU in an endless loop. At THIS point, I tried everything. I went and did the whole "Turn everything off, plug it back in in this specific order" (sometimes that worked, sometimes it didn't), I messed with windows screen settings AND amd adrenalin settings (this would also SOMETIMES work, but it was never a stable fix). Re-installed windows, re-installed all drivers, messed with a million amd settings, I messed with security device settings and whatnot (This computer has had problems with certain MOBO BIOS configs and amd witchcraft), nothing worked. Ultimately all the fiddling granted me about a day's worth of continuous use. It died again a bit ago. I'm basically stumped and unwilling to try and keep shooting blindly, so I'm hoping somebody might've gone through something similar and can lend a techie hand. SOME CONSIDERATIONS AND CONTEXT: The computer: Some needed context: MOBO: Biostar Racing B550GTQ *CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X *GPU: SAPHIRE Radeon 6600 RAM: XPG Gammix D30 Silver DDR4, 3200MHz, 8GB, Non-ECC, CL16, XMP (4 sticks for a total of 32GB) *PSU: EVGA 500w Bronze (In Trying to cover all my bases, I'll add some misc information about the system) *-4 running argb fans, all connected to MOBO. -CM Hyper212 Cooler -CM q300l case *-OS runs off of a 120GB ssd. *-Additional Storage: 1TB WD Harddrive, 1TB Lenovo Laptop HDD & 1TB Kingston NVME ssd -Stat Screen on inside of PC (A sketchy assembly on my part: Aliexpress stat screen hooked to a usb outlet mooshed on the inside.) *-rgb lightstrips and other decorations made out of literal junk, including old cables (None of these faux cable come in contact with a functioning device). *-PCIE expansion card with 4 USB3.0 ports (receive sata power) The Monitor: GameFactor MG600 V1 144Hz rated monitor 1 DisplayPort, 3 HDMI ports. Can cycle between DP 1.1 and 1.2 DP cables: -ORIGINAL: Came with the monitor, no-name brand, presumably atleast 1.2 as per monitor specs. -NEW: also no-name case, but fancy looking~ braided cable and all that, slightly longer, maybe 2M

I have i5 10400F and a 1650 super with 32 GBs of ram and a couple SSDs and I have 2 1080p 75 Hertz monitors. I also have between 50-300 Mbps download and 20-30 Mbps Upload wifi depending on the time and the families usage of the Wi-Fi. With all that I can usually get a pretty good live stream quality, but every now and then there's a bit of lag. Would it help if I changed what GPU my monitors are using? Should my monitors be using my integrated graphics or should they be using the 1650 super? Currently it's on auto select but if I were to change it would it have any performance difference? Or would it free up my CPU to help me with my stream?

Hello all, Atm I have two 32'' monitors with a 75Hz refresh rate connected to a RTX 3070. Now I'm thinking of getting one 27" 180Hz and keep one 32'' (for now). I assume having two different Hz won't cause any problems, right? I know, it may look a bit stupid, but I only use one monitor to game with and the other is for web/music player/Discord/other stuff (while gaming). In the future, I may want to get a second 27'' (with a lower Hz) to replace the second 32'' because of the look. Question, is this a stupid idea and can the Hz difference cause problems with the RTX 3070? Greetings Jack!

I’m looking for a 1080p gaming monitor in the $150-$200 range (U.S.). I mostly play competitive games, so I’m looking for 144hz, 1ms response time monitors. I know that’s a big ask for the price, but isn’t unheard of. I’ve got a few sitting in my cart but I wanted to hear some opinions from the community and maybe see what other budget users are driving daily. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi i am new to vr. And well everytime i put my vr headset in it picks this up as mian monitor even in bios. My main monitor uses a dvi to hdmi. My vr headset is the original htc vive. No matter what i do i keep getting my desktop in the vr, even in direct display. I cannot play anything let alone see steam vr as a result. On ubuntu. Is there some 2ay to swap the display order? So it detects the dvi as main and hdmi as secondary? And by dvi i mean the rectangular port with a diagonal corner. The picture is the monitor issue. I used the options menu for refrence. Yes that is 1080p. I could disable the display in settings using work space switcher to get to corner to confirm, per os spasifically but would that make it not work with steam? That also doesnt solve the bios issue. edit 1: the disabling of display in the os makes the headset not work at all.

I'm rocking a 670xt right now, and I currently have 4 monitors (2 HDMI 2 DP). I haven't tried this yet, but if I got some HDMI/DP splitters, would I be able to get more screens? Is there a limit? I'm planning on upgrading to a 6900xt(nice) soon, is there a limit for that one? I've found conflicting issues online and would hope someone that has actually tried this could help

Can i use my Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti (GPU) and a AMD freesync monitor. Can I use my NVIDIA Graphics card with a Free-Sync Monitor?

Hey there! I have a slight and annoying problem with my resolution. Hear me out on this, I have tried to find a similar issue on this, to no avail. So, I already had this problem before I reformatted my windows drive (Windows Reset + drive format) Basically, I have a Lenovo G25-10, a 1080p 144hz monitor. Whenever I install the NVIDIA Drivers, and I try to play a game, it has a resolution option of 4k. This is where it gets weird, no, I do not have any DSR factors on, I'm pretty sure that my monitor is only 1080p, even Lenovo's website says that themselves. When I check the change resolution in Nvidia Control Panel, it does say that the resolution can go up to 4k (Idk why, again, I do not have any DSR factors on) I can't remove the options for 4k and other multiple weird resolutions on NVIDIA control panel. Latest Nvidia driver's installed, installed the monitor's official drivers as well. My Graphics card is a GALAX RTX 2060, 6GB I know this isn't really the place for support, but I seriously couldn't diagnose the problem here. It's not an issue by any means, it's just bothering to see that even my games detect that I have a 4k monitor even though it's only 1080p. Any tips, or ideas as to why this is happening would help a lot!

Hi, I used nvidia custom resolution to set my monitor to 40Hz so that I can use Vsync at higher FPS than 30 for some games (I have GTX 1070 and like to run higher resolution than FHD). In most games I am able to get comfortably above 40FPS at near 4K resolution, but I always underclocked the monitor to 30hz. Now I tried to underclock it to 40hz, but when I turn vsync on, then the game runs at 30fps instead of 40FPS. I checked in the UFO refresh rate test and it says it is 39.999hz. Why doesnt the vsync work as expected (by me)? Thank you in advance for you help.

I have a mini pc with HDMI output from intel UHD igpu on a celeron, it can connect to a tv via HDMI to HDMI jsut fine, but with my monitor with only mini HDMI and type C inputs doesn't work for some weird reason. I use a HDMI to mini HDMI cable and no signal can be detected, I also tried HDMI to HDMi cable then try using a HDMI to type C adapter but that still says no signal. I have tested all the things individually, and they all work fine. I am now VERY CONFUSED on why my moitor doesn't work for my mini pc. Please help, thanks in advance.

I am in the process of upgrading my monitor situation to accommodate an new job that requires much more monitor real-estate. My configuration would be as follows. This monitor https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XZ342CK-Pbmiiphx-Certified-DisplayHDR400/dp/B08BW3XS12/ref=sr_1_9?qid=1642697916&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A23595194011%2Cp_n_feature_eleven_browse-bin%3A17726574011|17726575011|17726576011|17726577011|17726578011&rnid=17726572011&s=pc&sr=1-9&th=1 as the primary display at eye level (yes i know its not the best but I have a budget I need to follow) and then two of these monitors https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MDXF81K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 above that one side by side. The reason for this is I already have the 2 27in monitors and not enough desk space to put them on the sides of the ultrawide. My concern is this. I am unsure of the best way to mount it. My initial idea was to have the ultra wide on its in the box stand and then to use this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082KWH2RL/ref=crt_ewc_title_srh_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A177XTH6CJABI8 to hold the other monitors above it but I am concerned about sizing. I know that this would be very easy if I wall mounted them however I am in an apartment so I am trying to avoid holes in the walls if it all possible. If it helps with recommendations I am currently on a 59 inch desk (one of the ikea ones) with my computer on the desk just to sort of illustrate the room constraints I have. I appreciate any and all suggestions you might have.

I have a problem, when i try to connect my monitor to graphic card it says 'sygnal no supported' so i dont know what to do. I tried unpluging ram, draining power, removing GPU and testing 2 cables HDMI, checked if everything is pluged (everything is) And trying to reset monitor to starter Mode (or something like that) but nothing works. I tested my monitor on my laptop and it worked Just fine so i dont thing it's a monitor issue but at this Point i have no idea what to do. My guess is that theres something wrong with GPU but i might as well ask people that actually know what's up. Specs are -G.SKILL 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 Ripjaws V Black -Acer Nitro VG240YBMIIX -SilentiumPC Vero L3 500W 80 Plus Bronze -Kingston 500GB M.2 PCIe NVMe KC2500 -Intel Core i5-11400F -ASUS PRIME B560M-K -PowerColor Radeon RX 6600 Fighter 8GB GDDR6

Yellow tints on the sides of TN Panels? So, I just got this: https://www.lg.com/levant_en/monitors/lg-27MK400H-B second hand, and so far, it seems it has yellow tints on the sides and top of it??? Is this a normal thing for TN panels with their lack of color accuracy and bad viewing angles? I am sitting straight ahead of the monitor, but it's a 27" 1080p, so that might take into effect?? Any pointers would be appreciated!

Summary A new display from Xiaomi, the "Xiaomi Fast LCD Monitor 24.5-inch 240HZ version" sets a new low for the industry. Edit: HDMI 2.1a has been published, adding Source-Based Tone Mapping.
