  1. Hi community. I just completed a silent, argb, budget build and still looking for some decent monitors (I use two). I want to ask you all for your personal opinion on monitors not just look for specs online and buy the first thing that fits the bill. Not sure if you can see my setup but I am not a gamer and have a weak GPU. I use this computer for admin type work and streaming Linus Tech Tips on YouTube amongst other streaming providers. I noticed my monitors are really not suited for proper movie streaming and wanted to upgrade to a good "VALUE" monitor. Good quality at a budget price. I read that the 27 inch monitors are perfect for sitting close as we all do and that the difference between 1440p and 4K is barely noticeable. Just with 4k I would need a better GPU and it would suck more power. Budget: $300ish each monitor Bonus points for Amazon link Thanks in advance
  2. Hello. My refresh rate for the resolution I most used (1280x1024) was 75Hz, on a 60Hz monitor. I felt my games not quite as well as they used to so I checked my refresh rate, where there is no 75Hz option anymore. Any ideas what it could be? I tried custom resolutions, but games do not see them. P.S. Monitor is AOC 24B1H, I never had this problem before.
  3. I had 2 monitors for a long time, and as of a few weeks I now have 3. But since I got the 3rd now i have a very weird bug/problem with one of them(kinda). In order to have an easier understanding, I'll call the monitors by both position or number, and in parenthesis name, so everyone can understand what I'm trying to say, and the number in DISPLAY SETTINGS. I have my MAIN monitor, 27inch ASUS, with 144hz - will call it ASUS, DS number 1 SECOND monitor, 27inch Dell 75hz - will call it DELL, DS number 3 THIRD monitor, 27inch ThinkVision 75hz. - will call it ThinkVision, DS number 2 When all 3 monitors are on, this is how my taskbar looks. The part on the right most monitor (ThinkVision) that that is circled in red, I am unable to click most of the time. It might sound stupid, but i'm just unable to click the buttons there. If I grab a window and try moving it down there, the window can be moved, so it's not like I'm unable to move my mouse there, and the mouse "position" is fine, as moving a windows there works fine. On top of that, if I put a youtube video on my third screen(the right most one in my case - ThinkVision), on fullscreen, I'm unable to click the play button, or volume button(so basically the same "part" of the screen I was unable to click on the buttons before). Example of video on 2nd monitor(you can see the mouse is able to click on play - the play hover appears - Dell) and 3rdmonitor(no play hover). On both those examples, my mouse is on top of the play button. Now, if i go into Display Settings to see how the screens are setup, I will see the this. So the right most monitor, has the number 2(ThinkVision), the one that is giving me problems(why I called it my 3rd monitor before is because I just counter left to right, but in the Display Settings it has the number 2) After seeing this, I went and moved them like this, and that works. I can now click on that part of the bar, and videos on top, is just that now my monitors are opposite of how they are physically placed(which hurts my brain, not going to lie). I tried a 3rd approach like this and now, the monitor with the problem is basically in the middle, and I STILL AM UNABLE TO CLICK THAT ZONE. I even tried the last possible combination, where that monitor is on the middle still, but the other way around(instead of 1-2-3, its 3-2-1), and I no longer get the problem. If I was to summarize my findings, it seems that, if that monitor is DIRECTLY on the RIGHT of the middle monitor(basically my main monitor - ASUS) it will have that problem. I say directly, as if I put the other monitor between them, I no longer have the problem. I've tried to search for those few weeks, but I cannot find how to fix this problem, as it's really specific. If anyone has any ideas, I would gladly try anything. I know that, given my findings, swapping the DELL(monitor2) and ThinkVision(monitor3) will fix my problems, but I'd rather keep them this way. That, and even further, the curiosity really grew on why is this even happening, it's so strange. PS: While i gave examples with videos, nothing works on that part. Even my steam, a bit ON TOP of the taskbar, I cannot click. That zone is basically dead for me. PS2: Also, you can see the "affected zone" in this video, because sometimes when I do... stuff... I'm not sure what "starts" this, I get the following effect, which basically "blinks" that zone itself. I know this might be badly explained, as the numbering is a bit confusing, so if anyone thinks he has any idea, but needs further info, I'd gladly provide. Thanks. TLDR: If my third monitor is directly after(to the right) my main(without the 2nd one in between), I cannot click on a bit of the left part of my taskbar, or anything that is on top of that.
  4. Hi all, Looking for some recommendations or a new Monitor, I know I can google but everyone has an opinion and I'd like to know what people think here maybe some hidden gems! My current is Samsung G5 Odyssey G55T (Having issues so going to repair and sell or bin) I've had a G7 Before and liked it but back knob issues (luckily the monitor) and Scan Lines I get a Samsung discount but not overly fussed on the brand. I work at home so spend a lot of hours gaming and watching YT so needs to be decent enough for that now the requirements! 1440p 27" (open to 32") Curved (Flat feels weird now) HDR or none HDR I won't use it Windows does a terrible job and most monitors never work with it well. Good Black levels as I hate banding on black levels. Budget: Since I can get a G7 for £350 my thinking is that usually £449 so around the 300-400 mark is good. I don't mind more and just keep an eye on pricing. I'm sure someone will say they are selling but I'd like to go new or open box/refurb something with a warranty with my monitor luck. I think that's it, I have a 1660 Super so going 4k isn't going to be doable. So far I'm thinking to try the G7 again for local dimming (ish) or the NZXT 32Q looks funky. So fire away, all advice and recommendation are appreciated!
  5. Hey Guys, i am currently running an GTX1080 with an i7-8700k and originally bought a 2k (2560 x 1440 )Monitor for Creative Work. I would really like a second one for gaming and am really interested in Mini LED as a compromise between LCD and OLED however the only monitor i can currently find is the Samsung Odyssey NEO G7 S32BG75 this is however a 4k screen wich I am somewhat sure my rig cant handle, i play a lot of Apex and Overall Shooters. Is the upscaling still so bad that gaming in 2k on a 4k screen is a bad idea or should i go for it.
  6. So im currently running this setup but i dont have enough HDMI ports so I am with two monitors at 120hz and the other at 60Hz due to the DP to HDMI adaptor... It is also a lot of workload for my GPU if i improve the image quality to ultra setting and it crash the game... Does anyone know if i can attach another GPU (with or without SLI) and take advantage of the extra ports for the monitors and also distributing the workload? And will game like Flight simulator or IRacing run properly on full ultrawide screen? (they do now)
  7. Hello there, I turn to your wisdom internet wizzard people. Short Version: I am looking for a decent monitor, and possibly a second one. Long one: PC Specs: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X ProArt X570 - Creator WIFI EVGA RTX 3080 TI FTW3 2x G-Skill F4-3600C16D-16GTZR Monitor: Lenovo C32q-20 - 2k 32inch 75Hz The Story: As a software engineer, I spend 8 hours a day working with code, so a clear display andscreen real estate are crucial to my work. In my free time, I enjoy long gaming sessions and creating 3D Blender art. The main reason I'm unsure about which display to choose is that I prioritize a large screen, accurate colors, a high refresh rate, and high resolution. I usually sit 45-50 cm away from my display, and even farther when watching movies. I'm not sure if a 4k display is worth it for me, and if ultrawide might negatively affect my 3D art. I am open to keeping my current monitor as a secondary until I have the funds for a new one, but if there is a reasonable price for a secondary monitor, I am willing to purchase one and give my current one to my girlfriend.I really enjoy the HDR feature on my mobile device, especially at night when it enhances the blacks so that would be amazing addition to the display. KVM and the ability to power one display with a single cable to the laptop are nice features, but not essential for me, since I allready have DockStation with USB C and power on desk, even tho its kinda meh. A little add-on, I am in love with mounting the monitors with VESA on monitor Arms, so there are no stands. I have no clue how to orient in that space and if you could point me TOGO one, or give me pointers on how to choose. My Current Picks: I have come across two displays that seem promising, but I'm unsure which one to go with. As I mentioned earlier, I'm not sure if this is the right approach. https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/alienware-34-curved-qd-oled-gaming-monitor-aw3423dwf/apd/210-bfrp/monitors-monitor-accessories https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-XG341C-2K-Monitor-DisplayPort-Esports/dp/B09PZBV2XJ?crid=31625NKVQCUHH Budget: Since I've already invested a lot in my computer, I'm willing to spend a little extra on an upgrade that will improve its usability. I think $1400 is a reasonable amount to pay for this type of upgrade. Games I Play: I enjoy trying new games when they are released, but I also have a list of favorites that I consistently play: Squad, Guild Wars 2, Modded Minecraft, War Thunder I apologize for any chaos or broken English I will try to answer any questions or misunderstandings as soon as possible. Thank you for your help.
  8. Hi, this is my first post, I recently bought an Acer ED320QR 32' Curved monitor. I know I know...crap monitor but it was black Friday and I needed an upgrade. I am now regretting that decision because the smearing and ghosting on this monitor is awful. I'm looking for help getting recommendations on a different monitor. Any help or feedback is appreciated!
  9. In the last 2 years I had 5 monitors, one Viewsonic XG2405, which came with 3 dead pixels and 3 stuck pixels, and then made the exchange for another one, and that one came with a dead pixel on the bottom edge. After upgrading GPU I got the itch to buy a 1440p, which at that time I bought an MSI MAG274QRF-QD. Guess what? It came faulty, with 4 dead pixels and what seemed like a big speck of dust inside the middle of the screen. I then sent it back and was refunded and then bought an ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQ which I have since a month ago, and it was good when I bought it, since It has zero dead pixels, but now, sadly again, another problem arose. You see, in a black background or any dark background, it is full of green stuck sub-pixels. Here are some photos: I also have photos of my previous monitors issues: MAG274QRF-QD Viewsonic XG2405 After all these experiences I am planning to keep the Asus since the bright sub-pixels are only noticeable if I try hard enough to search for them in a dark room. With the room's lights on and the monitor on low brightness (which is what I am accustomed to use) it is even less noticeable. Still, it is veeery annoying (maybe a bit less to people who don't suffer from OCD like me) to have to deal with all these issues and shame on all these brands for selling us faulty products as new. As I read somewhere on the internet, you don't buy a car with 3 tires instead of 4, and the car brands certainly don't expect you to think it's normal, so why do these monitor manufacturer's expect you to be alright with more than 3-5 dead pixels-stick pixels? What makes it ever worse for me is that I live in Latin America and here RMA is non-existent (when I bought in the store they didn't even let me try the monitor in the store) and in my country official support is bad since, they don't even the same model in stock to replace so, support is almost non-existent. The previous monitor I had before trying 144hz and buying a new one was a Dell UltraSharp U2414H, it was practically flawless, no issues whatsoever. I would keep using it and sell the Asus, but after trying Adaptive Sync and 144hz - 165hz, i'm not going back, I can't.
  10. I ordered my EVE Spectrum QHD 144Hz back in March 2021 and still haven't received it, nor have I received any new delivery timelines since early this year, where it was supposed to be delivered back in April 2022. Order cancellations are starting to build up, with refund requests taking upwards of 90 days for many folks, and tons of games being played by support staff mishandling the refund process. Their community managers aren't able to provide any timelines for producing and delivering orders, despite the tech shortages easing up significantly this year, evidenced by a surge in availability of many different products that were previously scarce. I really wanted this company to succeed, and it appears their monitors are being well received (1, 2), but their management and production/delivery is a hot mess right now. Rtings.com discovered that EVE / DOUGH employees were creating new accounts to manipulate vote counts in their product suggestion poll so it would get reviewed sooner, and are considering a total ban of the brand on their site if more abuse is discovered. Last, starting at $650-799 (without a stand), their pricing is outrageous compared to what the competition has to offer today. In 2020 / 2021 when they opened orders up, they had the advantage with USB-C display + 100W charging, a built-in KVM, etc.; but now, displays like the Gigabyte M27Q / M32Q offer comparable specs like USB-C w/ charging (albeit lower wattage), KVM, and high refresh rates, plus they don't charge extra for a basic stand. I realize the Spectrum line-up does offer several superior features, but at quite a premium. It all depends on what you're looking for, and in 2022, they're even less differentiated as competitors catch up. Is anyone else in the same boat? I'm so disappointed.
  11. I recently purchased a System76 laptop for home use. It has Pop_OS installed. I have 2 external monitors, connected via a KVM switch. When I first tried to connect the monitors, the OS only saw the laptop display. After rebooting a few times, it finally saw the external monitors. It was working fine until yesterday, when I attempted to run a Windows based application through Wine. As soon as I ran the Wine command, both of my external displays went blank. The Displays tab in Settings did not show either of the external monitors. I rebooted the laptop, and it now sees both of the external displays, but only in mirrored mode, not in extended mode. Effectively, I have the laptop screen showing one or two applications, and I see different "mirrored" images on the 2nd and 3rd monitors. The Displays tab now only shows display 1, and display 2. Displays 2 & 3, the external displays, are mirrored, showing the exact same windows. How can I reset the displays, or cause the displays tab to scan or see both of the external monitors, as separate devices? Thanks in advance, and have a great weekend.
  12. I have a laptop and I want to use ONE 144Hz monitor and ONE cheap capture card(no passthrough just HDMI in and USB out) with a single HDMI port. YES, I want them to be cloned but I want to keep my monitor at 144Hz and not capped at 60Hz What I tried : I bought a cheap $3 HDMI duplicator which was able to copy the 1080P60 signal to both the capture card and monitor, but as soon as I switched to 144Hz, only the monitor keeps displaying and the capture card starts blacking out (almost whole time, maybe too much of a signal for cc to handle) I want to know if there is something which sends 1080p 144Hz to my monitor and 60Hz signal to my CC(so that it can pass it to the USB).
  13. Hello, I've been having an issue with my computer over the last couple months. It's been so few and far between that I haven't been bothered to look for a fix until now. For some reason when I try to boot certain games on my pc, the monitors will go off like I've turned off the computer, but I can still hear sounds from my headset whether it is game audio or people in a discord call even though they can't hear me back after it shuts off. Turning both monitors off and back on doesn't do anything. The only way to fix it is restarting my pc fully, which only lets me use it like normal until I try to relaunch certain games again. I've made sure all my updates are caught up (windows, AMD Radeon, the games themselves, etc.) as well as checking to verify that the game files aren't corrupted. The weird thing is that it only does it to certain games. About a month ago, it was doing this with MultiVersus, but after they released a patch on the first day, it stopped and worked fine since. As of recent it has been doing this with Gundam Evolutions. I can launch the game no problem but once it starts the tutorial, the shutoff happens. I tried all manner of games- League of legends, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring- all no problems with anything related to those, whether running in full-screen, windowed, or borderless. This leaves me to think it's something with certain games themselves. Any potential help would be greatly appreciated. 14. I recently bought an LG Ultragear 32GN650B' monitor, but for some reason I keep getting this prompt: "An Incorrect DisplayPort Version Setting Will Cause The Screen To Be Blank". I reinstalled the gpu amd vision driver, also the one from the device manager, changed the cable, the DP version from the monitor settings and unplugged the monitor for one hour and plugged back in, moved the cable from a DP slot to the remaining two ones. Also the HDMI and DisplayPort slots from the GPU are not shown on the AMD Vision driver. I have an AMD Vega 64 Liquid Cooled GPU Intel I7 11700F AsRock B560 Steel Legend Motherboard Gskill 16 GB 3000Mhz CL 16 RAM Does any one have this issue and any info how to fix it? It is annoying and i am out of info how to get rid of it. @LinusTechmaybe on the future you will make a video how to get rid of this error. Seems that it only happens on LG Ultragear monitors when removing the cable from monitor and gpu and putting back in.
  15. I recently bought a MAG274QRF-QD (when it was 389,99, now it’s 407,95) for my gaming pc and it came with a black spot almost in the middle of the screen and two dead pixels. I sent it back and requested a refund and now I am planning to either buy another one and leave it to fate in order to receive a good one or buy one of these alternatives: I also considered the Dell SD2721DGF, but ruled it out because of no sRGB while being a wide gamut monitor (that in turn causes over-saturation which I don’t like). I’ve been doing some research and it seems that the LG has the worst contrast ratio out of all the three and the XG27AQ seems to suffer from a high 30ms input lag while gaming on 60hz. According to Rtings it has been fixed by updating the Hardware abstraction layer through Armory Crate (not a fan of), and I don’t even know if that fix even applies to console gaming which I do some from time to time since I have a ps5 and not all games have 120hz support. And finally the MAG274QRF-QD which suffers from qc issues (there are a lot of comments about it either on Amazon or through Reddit, it’s not just me that was unlucky). The choice can seem easy due to close prices but the thing is I am buying the monitor from amazon and importing it to my country which has absurdly high import taxes (in the end costing me almost double the price of the monitor), a price difference of 20 - 30 is more like a 50-60 dollar price difference and with the amount I’m already paying extra it’s starting to look like a small but impactful difference between the three. I didn’t know buying a monitor could be such a chore, especially since every single monitor has a defect, either from a con in the specs or a defect. Not only the msi came to me with dead pixels but the 144hz 1080p viewsonic monitor I had before it too came with dead pixels, which I had to change three times and I still ended up with a unit with 1 dead pixel What are your thoughts and recommendations? P.D: My pc has an i7 9700k and 3060 ti and that’s why I’m looking at these 1440p panels. I can’t find any 1440p high refresh rate monitors in my country since the market is very small and prices are so high nobody wants to sell them. They only sell 1080p screens.
  16. I bought a new monitor, an LG 32GN600B. When I activate HDR in Windows 11 it turns the whole screen a blue-ish or maybe pink-ish color. The OSD locks out every setting except brightness and sharpness so I can't do anything there. I know my monitor does not support "true HDR", only displaying up to SRGB but I'd still like to have the added brightness and contrast even if it's a small difference. I don't understand why it looks so strange with HDR on. Does it have to do with maybe the monitor is receiving a wide color gamut signal and the monitor can't display most of it? Can I have "SRGB HDR"?
  17. Recently I went from a single 4k (60hz) monitor to adding a 1440p (75hz) and after that a 1440p (144hz) (both hdr) all hooked up to an RTX 3070ti (also have an i7 11700K. This hasn't been the smoothest experience however. I have had issues where on startup my screen flickers and then works like normal. Some games caused my 75hz monitor to flicker at random intervals of around 5 minutes. I thought I had fixed this issue by fully removing and reinstalling my graphics drivers but some issues still retained. When I plugged in my 144hz monitor for some reason my desktop icons got shuffled around too and while this is my last concern it does add up and bother me. Recently I got an issue with games changing my monitor settings and this feels like the final straw to ask for help. When starting minecraft for example the game just sets my monitor to 60hz from 144hz and also changes the color profile from rgb to YCbCr422 and from there I cannot change it back to the normal settings. The only options I have after that are 60 and 120 hz and the color profile resets itself when I set it to rgb. It's also worth mentioning that the screen flickering comes back when a change in refresh rate is made I should also mention that when hooking up my first 1440p monitor I accidentally put in my motherboard's hdmi connection because I wasn't thinking about it. This caused issues where my integrated gpu seemed to get in the way of my dedicated gpu when starting certain games, this issue seems to be fixed by simply not using it and rebooting my pc. I know multiple monitors can also cause issues but it's still worth a try to ask because I feel like none of this should happen if I could only manage to fix these issues. Sorry for the poorly written out summary of issues that I'm having/experienced but is there some fix I can make to make my monitors more "stable" or am I simply forced to unplug my 60hz monitor. I have tried reinstalling drivers like mentioned before but it barely seemed to help. Thanks in advance.

  19. Hello, I have an issue which has driven me crazy for months now. My setup is split between a work area with 3 monitors and a drawing tablet, and a 'leisure' area with my OLED TV. I have everything plugged into one PC and as I work freelance, odd hours, and have a terrible work/life separation, I need to be able to seamlessly move between the two. Because I have 4 displays I have to run my old 1080ti as well as my 3080. However, since I bought the LG TV it has caused issues where when I turn the TV on with the remote my computer hitches and then the screens start to blink on and off for about 30 seconds but can last for a few minutes. This also happens after waking the PC when the screens go to sleep if I haven't used it for 10 minutes. It will also just occasionally randomly happen. This happens if the TV is connected or not in display settings. It also happens if the TV is on and then I plug the HDMI 2.1 cable into the GPU. I have updated drivers and tried different things with G-SYNC/HDR etc. I have tried with my different monitors in different ports or even between the two GPUs. The cables are all high quality; an optical HDMI 2.1 from KabelDirekt for the TV and StarTech VESA Certified DisplayPort 1.4 Cables for the monitors. Once the blinking stops there are no issues with any functionality etc but the disruption when going between work and play can stop me taking breaks from work or cause disruption to work when coming back off break. 20. Title. I've been having problems with my displays for almost half a year now. I'll lose display on both my monitors (they aren't turning off, they just lose display) and the only way to get them back is to turn my computer off then back on again. Unplugging, plugging in HDMI / Display Port cables will do nothing. I'm asking if a CPU can cause this, or even just a Motherboard, because I have tried everything else I can think of: Resetting the PC via Recovery Reinstalling Windows via USB Reinstalling Monitor Drivers Reinstalling and updating GPU drivers Tried different HDMI / Display Port Cables and ports in the Monitors and GPU Tried brand new HDMI Cables Tried different monitors Tried a different GPU Tried a different Power Supply Checked drives health (They're all 95-100% healthy with no problems) My temps are all fine as well. Nothing going over 60C even while gaming. Which seems more likely, if either, to cause this problem? CPU or Motherboard. I'm fairly broke at the moment due to study.
  21. I'd just bought the Rtx 3070ti upgraded from the gtx 1060 3gb and now I cant change the refresh rate on either of my 144hz monitors, thought I might have an outdated HDMI cable so I bought a new one as well as a Display port cable but nothing seems to change. My drivers for the card are up to date and I'm at a total loss someone please help me find a fix.
  22. For background, my wife is getting into video editing on her 2017 MacBook Pro, and I'm shopping for a monitor for her. I was leaning towards a 27" 4K Asus ProArt monitor, but then came across the video below. Seems like this guy bought the same one, but then ran into issues with the performance hit from MacOS scaling. I'm mostly a Windows guy, so I'm not up on what I should watch out for in the Mac world. My questions for the hive mind: Is this guy correct? Is this something, I should worry about? If he is correct, should I only consider either 5K or 1440P at 27"? Thanks for reading. Let me know what you think.
  23. I had a question. Probably about monitors especially this kind of problems, what was it? Is it the polarizer that needs to replaced or the lcd itself kind of unrepairable? Thank you for the advanced responses, i hope i can find a variable solution for this or knowing exact the problem was.
  24. I purchased a 12.3" monitor to use as a secondary display for my Steam Deck. It is sold in multiple places under a few different brand names all claiming that its native resolution is 1920x720. I have also seen that this panel is used in BMW vehicles as the infotainment/dashboard display and the documentation for that use case also shows a 1920x720 native resolution. The problem is that I cannot get Windows, or Steam OS to run the display at that resolution. I'm guessing that Steam OS will be more of a challenge, (I could be wrong...). My research thus far has at best determined that the display controller PCB included in the monitor is somehow preventing the native resolution from being "offered" as an option to the OS of the computers I have connected it to. I have tried CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) and that hasn't worked, but I haven't gone so far as editing an INF file manually as that's a bit intimidating for now. The only resolutions that work are basically 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios such as 1080p or 800x600 but, at 1920x720, this display is much closer to a 21:9 aspect ratio which is one of the main reasons I selected it. I have only tried HDMI if that matters. Can anyone help me get this thing to act right? This is a stock photo of the display/monitor: Links to the product pages on AliExpress (where I bought mine) and Amazon: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256803925900560.html https://www.amazon.com/VSDISPLAY-1920x720-VS123ZJ01A-12-3inch-Stretched/dp/B09STFLN9Z The Amazon seller being EXTREMELY helpful when I tried to ask them about it : And just for context, here's my admittedly ridiculous Steam Deck setup including the monitor in question:
  25. Hi Team, I am working in a company as a Software Developer. Recently I started WFH and purchased an LG 27UP850-W monitor and want to use this as my productivity setup. The monitor contains, an USB-C, 2 USB, 2 HDMI and 1 Display port. I am using my companies laptop. My question is, I have connected Keyboard and Mouse to the available USB ports of the LG display. Now my comp. laptop has a thunderbolt port available. 1. Can I connect my laptop thunderbolt port to the USB-C of LG Display? 2. If I can connect, can I output display along with using keyboard and mouse which is connected to LG display? 3. Will my laptop be able to get charged at the same time? Please help me with this. Thanks, Harsh.
