I need to find a 12inch screen, so looking for pointers as I am struggling. I'm building what could be considered an all in one. I have my granddad's old CRT that was bought in 1971 or 72 and is a 12 inch 5:4 black and white unit. I used to play mega drive on this when I was little and I want to breathe some life into it instead of putting it into landfill as it's been around longer than I have. I've built a cheap and cheerful micro atx i5/gt980 pc for emulation, and 3d printed board mounts and fan shrouds etc. I need a non industrial/pos (point of sale- not piece of $hit!) screen as I want decent colour and contrast etc to fit the aperture which is 8x10 inches with an almost 12 inch diagonal. Best fit so far has been something like the surface pro 4 display (12 inch 3x2) but finding a hdmi/dvi driver board is near impossible. I've been looking at tablet screens as I can't find anything else that fits in terms of size, reasonable resolution and most importantly screen ratio. I originally posted in r/buildapc but I need more detailed recommendations and can't post images there so I'm spreading the net in the hope that someone has an idea... Any help is appreciated.

Hi guys, i've played all fallout games except New Vegas because i've played fallout 3 and jumped to fallout 4 thinking New Vegas will feel outdated. But i change my mind, however since i used to play Skyrim with tons of mods i was thinking there must be mods to make New Vegas feel at least less dated or just more fun to play. I know i can visit youtube but there's just too many recommendations out there and i'd probably spend my time browsing and trying the mods instead of playing the game. So if you'd be so kind, gladly give me some recommendations. Thank you in advance

Hi all, i seen this case mod for the SPEC-01 that removes the HDD bay I understand how to remove the HDD bay and that, that's not a problem, however this user as able to place it into the ODD bay to suspend their hard drives, any tips or solutions on how to do this with minimal hassle Tools etc arent an issue, just wondering if anyone has done anything like this before and are able to provide any help; because, to my understanding, the HDD bay has been cut down to size, however in doing so this would(?) remove the mounting holes for the screws. With the latest gforce driver update pushed out today. A news article was posted talking how NVIDA has handed RTX remix over to "four of half-life 2s topp mod teams." It will be interesting to see how this Ray Tracing project compares to many other that have come before it. Digital foundry did a 4 way playthrough showing just such a previous mod. source https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/half-life-2-rtx-remix-in-development/

Hello, fellow nerds! I have a pair of Astro A40trs collecting dust, bought them for random use on ebay for like $35, and I have another pair with a MixAmp. Has anyone ever tore these down and modded them? like new drivers, improved sealing and insulation, updated mobos...etc. I personally love the design and I love to make items truly "mine", maybe it's nostaligia since the original A40s were the god tier when I got into PC gaming and getting my own stuff and following gaming influencers like Seananners and Machinima then Mr Sark and so on. Would love some experiences, thoughts, assistance on this!!!

Hello, everyone. I'm suggesting a theoretical way to enhance the performance of gaming laptops that do not support Optimus. I got inspired when I saw a video on YouTube where a person repurposed an old laptop screen and connected it to a laptop via the HDMI port. We know that we can bypass Optimus when we connect an external screen via the HDMI port or sometimes the USB Type-C port. The theory is, since we can connect a laptop monitor using HDMI, why not connect the existing laptop screen to the HDMI port? It's like creating our own version of Optimus without the need for another screen. In theory, this could potentially provide a 10% to 20% boost in gaming performance. I don't possess the necessary skills to carry out this project, but I believe someone can. Perhaps adding a physical switch would be a good idea to activate this feature. Does anyone have any ideas or further insights regarding this theory?

What makes a good computer for modded Minecraft?
HunterC90 posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
This isn't about a particular build but rather how to prioritize hardware for heavily modded Minecraft There are other threads out there about what is important for modded Minecraft but they don't seem to go beyond mentioning single core performance, and having enough RAM. I have an i5-9600k and 2x8 GB of 3200 MT/s CL16 DDR4. After some time I started getting a very choppy and inconsistent 45 fps. My friend with an i9-9900k and 64GB of RAM (can't remember what spec) was also having issues. From what I understand, this loss of framerate can be largely attributed to having so many entities in a small area. After all, we built a base that was very tall and nearly everything we have was in an area of around 100x100 blocks. Playstyle can definitely be changed to improve performance - things can be more decentralized so that there aren't so many entities that a client has to load. But what I want to know is, what's really important for getting modded Minecraft to run well in terms of hardware? By this I mean, what role does memory frequency and latency play? What metrics, exactly are important for a CPU? How important are a CPU's caches' sizes? How important (if at all) is the SSD's speed? What I'm really looking for here is a more technical explanation of things. If you have any tips or resources that would be great.- 1 reply

Summary Valve does not allow you anymore to download any mods from Steam Workshop if you don't own the game. I don't have any links to news sources, but you can try it yourself using SteamCMD https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD#Downloading_SteamCMD It's just no longer possible My thoughts` It just pissed me off. So basically, if you own the game anywhere else, you're not allowed to download the mod who somebody created for free

Hey guys, I just saw the upgrade video from Linus with his retro console and got a little bit inspired. So I tought I could upgrade my PsP 3004. The problem is I can´t really find some parts or even a website with kind of that stuff. What I´m looking for is: - A Mini-USB replacement to mayby USB-C? - An OLED-Screen? or just a better alternative to then normal screen - A better Wifi Card or just a workaround to connect it to the internet again (cause WPA2+3 is not working and I don´t want to change the encryption of my WIFI) - A power conector replacement for USB-C (Thats the easy part I guess) - And, if possible, a case without the UMD-Drive (I don´t use it) in exchange for mayby something else(for example a larger battery slot) I hope someone here has done this before and got a little advise for my where to start or just the advice to stop right away Thanks

The following is at your own risk. You WILL void your warranty and you risk damaging your handheld permanently. Do not link to, or ask for ROMs, if you want to put ROMs on your G&W you'll need to supply your own and legally own them. This guide is for the Game and Watch Mario version, there are small differences with the Zelda version that I will not cover here. You can do this using a Raspberry Pi, but this guide is for a STLink, you can see the Game and Watch backup github below for help with a Raspberry Pi. Resources ; Game and Watch backup https://github.com/ghidraninja/game-and-watch-backup Discord ; https://discord.gg/rE2nHVAKvn Game and Watch RetroGo https://github.com/kbeckmann/game-and-watch-retro-go Discord ; https://discord.gg/vVcwrrHTNJ Game and Watch mods - Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/GameAndWatchMods/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What you'll need ; Game and Watch Mario, Triwing screwdriver, PC with Ubuntu (not a live CD OS, a VM with USB passthrough will do), A STLink (original or a small USB dongle one, a JLINK should work but I haven't tried), Soldering iron. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Accessing the debug pins. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OS preparation (you can use another Linux distro, Ubuntu 20.04 is what I used so the instructions I will post are for Ubuntu) Bring everything up-to-date (you can skip this if you think it's not needed). Install dependencies --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unlocking the Game and Watch Now onto the flashing, but we first need to unlock the Game and Watch, for that we'll need the Game and Watch backup I linked to in the resources. The Game and Watch needs to be connected to the STLink, the battery needs to be disconnected, the USB-C charger connected, and the Game and Watch needs to be turned on. Game and Watch backup ; --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installing RetroGo on the G&W Once done with the backup, in the same terminal window, type the following commands to start the RetroGo install ; And you're done, power cycle the G&W, unplug the STLink and screw the back cover on and enjoy!

Hi, so i'm planning to buy 2 new parts for my PC upgrade: P500A D-RGB case(it inculdes 3 D-RGB fans + D-RGB controller in the case) and the other part is AIO Lian Li Galahad 360 ( 3 ARGB Fans + ARBG PUMP + ARGB controller ) for full ARGB madness, but i don't have any ARGB headers on my motherboard. My PC SETUP ( By Far): PSU: Fractal Design 760 Ion+ Platinum CPU: 5600x (Already upraded) GPU: 980 ti AMP Extreme Motherboard: B450 Tomahawk Max.(Not new, but working with 5600x flawlessly) RAM: Corsar Vengeance Pro(2x8). My question is, can i somehow sync ARGB on my AIO and Case Fans? Maybe there is dedicated ARGB controller/hub where i could connect all of these products together and control them throught the HUB ,or it is only one way by connecting each part to their ARGB controllers and leave without syncing.

Alright, so i'm finally doing something i've been meaning to do for years! A long time ago, i went and bought a secondhand 4U server chassis. I have no clue what brand or model it is, but after drilling out some rivets and mounting a 360 radiator with some double sided tape it turned into my very first server! It started out quite small, but now it's a beast with loads of hardware and top of the line specs! Right now she's running: AMD EPYC 7551 256GB DDR4 ECC 2400 SuperMicro H11SSL-i Inno 3D RTX 2080Ti Nvidia Grid K2 with a noctua fanmod Kingston 512 GB NVMe drive EVGA SUPERNOVA 1000W G3 with a noctua NF-F14 Engineering Sample Mellanox 10G SFP+ NIC And of course custom watercooling on all the hot parts. I've had many, many hardware configurations in this thing, and it always worked like a dream. This case truly was the start of my enterprise tech obsession, and maybe even the reason why i work in datacenters today. The thing is, even tough the hardware inside is amazing, the outside doesn't really look the part. It's always been an old, secondhand server chassis i got for cheap. Here it is in my current rack. It's the middle server without any drive bays. This buildlog is finally going to change that! Here's the plan: Mods! - Swap out the front panel for something better looking and less restrictive - Swap out the front of the case with a proper radiator mount from a donor case - Paint the chassis (outside and inside) - Remove all excess brackets from the old case configuration - Re-do the watercooling - Add easy to use drain and fill ports - (maybe) add a PSU shroud I've already purchased a proper donor case for this. Enter the Zalman T7: I went with this case for a few reasons. First, this case has a symmetrical front panel, which is almost exactly the size of a 19" 4U rackmount. And because i will place it on it's side basically, this is a very big plus. Second, almost the entire front is mesh, and there are no secondary filters or other stuff to restrict the airflow. Noice! Third, this case has a 360mm radiator mount in the front which i can cut out and mount in the front of my server chassis. And last but not least: This thing was 35 euro's brand new! That's it for now, updates as the case arrives and the mods begin!

Currently I have my rig sitting with the side panel off to allow for two fans to point directly at the back plate of the 3090 to cool the vrm. Passive cooling isn’t enough when I turn the card over to mining Bitcoin in between gaming sessions. Currently this works fine giving the back extra airflow and cooling to keep the vrm from thermal throttling. I’m moving my rig into a planned 10 fan o11 dynamic xl in the next week or 2 and wanted some advice or ideas any one might have to keep this level if cooling up. I plan to have 6 intake fans (3 bottom and 3 on the front (which is also the side)) and 4 exhaust (1 rear 3 through a CLC radiator top) I've considered mounting the gpu vertically to make use of the 3 bottom fans but I’m now realising the pcie riser cable will block the area of the card most needing the direct airflow (directly behind the gpu/over the pcie slot). I’m looking for ideas or pci gen 4 risers that don’t restrict the bottom fans airflow or ways to mount up to another 3 fans in the case to direct air over the back plate directly. Without sacrificing too much aesthetic if possible.

I need help to build custom case for iMac 27 inch late 2015 A1419. The LCD display broken, and I don't want to spend money to buy it's display, instead of using cheaper external display. Another case is.. There is 2 and half of 4 led indicator. I believe.. First led for power supply, second is for the mainboard, third for GPU, and fourth for display. Third LED not fully bright. Fan spinning faster since starup but somehow, the external monitor working good.. So.. I just thinking to bring all the machine out of the iMac steel. And put into a custom case. Or if you having any solution and advice please, I love to know it.. Thanks..

Looking into getting some Witcher 3 mods and I've seen Nexusmods pop up but before I just download random stuff, is it legit? Anything I should be careful with?

Hey guys - so I’ve had my new rendering rig for around 2 months, and I’m absolutely loving the performance and aesthetics. I’m looking into a few ideas to give the rig a “fuller” look, if that makes sense. I’m currently considering a vertical mount for my 3070 FE and some sweet CableMod cables. I’m basically just looking for suggestions. Thanks! A photo of my build is below. Max
