Hello everyone and welcome to Project Evo worklog! First of all a quick presentation, my name is Alberto and I'm from Portugal! Was you can see on the topic title this project is in Case Mod World Series contest, Cooler Master propose me to mod a Master Case 5 for the contest and offcourse I accpeted it. The project is already in a good phase since I started it in Febuary. Well I dont intend to win anything to be honest I do this as a hobby and I dont have a big bugget to add WC system and all that fancy stuff, but I got to start with something so hope you guys like this project So speaking about the idea, basicly I'm on the Tower Mod category and like previous years I notice most tower projects never leave the "Box" concept, and for a "scracther builder" being stuck on the "box" is a bit strange so I started to think outside the "box" ( ), to be honest I really needed to think that way because was I said I cant afford all the fancy WC's system most "box" projects have, so finding a new design as really challenging since the Master Case 5 was been already so modded. So basicly the idea was finding a new way to look at the Master Case 5. So Idea found () and Project Evo born, lets see how things are going! #1 Video Images Concept evolution: Work evolution: Actual State Best Regards Tankian The Man

Hey everyone, I'm getting a laptop with red backlighting, because the cheapest with rgb backlighting and the same specs is a whole 350 USD more. I'm sure I can find a way to take apart the keyboard, but I'm not sure how to add some rgb backlight (preferably per key). If any of you have any suggestions, please comment. here is a picture of the laptop below:

So due to some poor homework on my part and buying parts used without looking at the specifications I have come to a very bad point. My GPU (ASUS STRIX GTX 960) won't fit in my Mini-ITX CoolerMaster Elite 110 case. The dimensions of the GPU are 5mm too large for my case so it doesn't fit. Now part of the ASUS covering/cooling system is simply plastic and extends outward from the actual GPU and it's PCB. The plastic extends about 20 mm away from the heatsink. Now, I was thinking would it be safe to cut part of the plastic bit off of the GPU? And, what would be the best tool to do so? (never done anything like this soooo...) Would sandpaper work or no?

Hi, I have this graphics card here: http://sapphirenitro.sapphiretech.com/en/rx-470-4.html I do not have the nitro+ model, whoch has a backplate. I have the nitro model, which does not. I would like to create a backplate for it but I am unsure as to what to make it from or how to mount it. I was originally planning on buying a backplate but I have been unable to find any compatible with my exact model. Any help would be much appreciated, Dan

I've been planning to build a pc with a yellow and black colour scheme, however no motherboards that are skylake or kabylake compatable that are yellow. So I've decided to paint the heatsinks on a motherboard. This one to be specific: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/KfRFf7/gigabyte-ga-h270-hd3-atx-lga1151-motherboard-ga-h270-hd3 But I have a few questions: How much will this effect the temps of my mobo? Which is better, high heat or non conductive paint? Do all motherboards have screws to remove the heatsinks? To the pros, any tips?

I'm planning on painting the interior of the EVOLV TG and the IO shroud and PCH heatsink on the Maximus IX Hero. I've seen people paint the whole interior of the Enthoo EVOLV on PCPartPicker but was wondering how to do it and if I would need to break the rivets and re-rivet the interior. In the motherboard's case, I don't want to paint any PCI-e or RAM slots (not gonna pull a Linus,) and I don't want to paint any of the metal on the heatsinks. Painting just a section of the PCH bridge may be a tad tricky, so I also wanted a few tips for that as well.

I really like the look of the inside portion of the enveyus H440 case: https://www.nzxt.com/products/h440-envyus. However, because of the ugly white exterior and $200 cad price tag I've decided to paint a regular H440 instead. I'll paint the interior in the same places as the special edition enveyus is painted as well as the exterior parts that are coloured. I plan to use this paint: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Automotive-12-oz-500-Degree-Ford-Dark-Blue-Engine-Enamel-Spray-Paint-Case-of-6-248959/204620670. I was watching a video on how to paint your case and they mentioned that the Corsair Air 240 is "Powder Coated" so it doesn't need to be sanded before applying the primer. So what is powder coating and is the H440 powder coated? Link to video:

I was planning to paint an MSI Gaming X rx 480 green (the part near the left fan), however I heard that some of the lights on the card (lights near right fan) are not rgb, is this true? If it is true could I replace the lights with pieces of plastic, replace the light, or paint over them?

I have an 2013 HP Envy 17 and I believe it could do a little better and last me a couple more years if I transplanted it from the red hot HP plastic case into a well ventilated Mini ITX case such as this. I'm not expecting to save the onboard screen. Can it be done? What are some challenges I might face, such as fitting and adapting components? Maybe someone has done this before.

Hey Guys! I want to ask if someone did an Powermod before? With Liquid Metal and a high end GPU? How did you do it and how "safe" is it?
-
Hey guys, I picked up the GTX 1080 FE (used) last week and it's been really awesome. But when overclocked, I noticed a lot of the power throttling going on, causing the core clock to rapidly fluctuate. Now, after a bit of Googling, there does seem to be a fix - the power limit mod. Now, there's a video by Der8auer showing exactly how to do this (applying liquid metal over a shunt resistor allowing more voltage to pass over than resistor - shorting it). However, in addition to shorting that one resistor in that video, there are others who say you need to short two other shunts (both labelled 5M0) as well to really benefit from the mod. Can anyone who's done this confirm this for me please? Also, I will be swapping the stock heatsink with a Kraken G10 and a H55 AIO cooler (with aluminium heatsinks for the VRM and VRAM). The guys over at r/nvidia and r/overclocking on reddit say that I shouldn't even dream of doing anything like that because I'll supposedly brick the card the moment I try any sort of mod. So it would be very helpful if I could get your insights as well. Any other tips, tricks and advice is also welcome. Thank you.

Hi everybody, So sadly my old pc is starting to chugg down on me (had it for almost 5 years now) and i've been thinking about an upgrade path. As I don't use my pc for much else than studying (math major) and the occasional game (i'm mostly a console peasant :P) I started to look for relible parts on a tight budget. After some searching I couldn't actually find any cases that I like, until today ! As an homage to my first system, i've decided to build the thing inside a FAT ps2 . My only inner debate now is will everything fit in such a small case... I'm thinking about ordering the case off ebay and mesuring everything myself (about 10 eur) so I can get a feeling of size, but it would be really helpful if someone who already owns the console (sadly mine died many moons ago) could tell me if he thinks it can actually fit in there / how big it actually is once you take the disk drive out. Not sure what im actually going to fit in there but I'm thinking about: CPU: I'll wait and see about the new Ryzen 5 but if its a spoof than I'll go with the I5-7500 Cooler: whatever I can possibly fit in there. possibly this one due to high reviews but i'll need to check clearence first. Ram: 16 GB low profile ram Power supply: I literally have no clue, did not think that far GPU: I want to take out the disk tray and instead shove a GPU with a PCI extension cable, and drill vents into the chasis for fresh air. possibly this one Storage: I have a 500GB SSD that i'm gonna use it should be plenty (I have my pc for 5 years and i still havent filled it ) Motherboard: No clue, need to check if there's room for a mini-ITX at least or I have no idea what to do This is pretty much it. As i said i plan to strip all the insides out, put the new motherboard where the old one was, and put the new gpu where the disk drive used to be. This is gonna be my first actual mod and I'm really siked for it. What do you think ? will everything actually fit ? Suggestions, tips etc. from more experienced builders would be great ! thanks in advance ! Mi old console ^^

I am sure this has been posted before, or at least something along the lines of it. But I want to replace the standard tubing of my AOI cooler with transparent ones, add a res (Mainly for a top up point) and run blood red coolant. I heard around that it has been done before and that the pump can more than handle it. I know they have barb fittings but as for tubing size and all round safety of my parts (Even with non conducting coolant) I also understand that the AOI is mixing metals (Copper block Ali Rad) im not sure if this is okay, I am new to custom cooling and as it stands I dont have the money to go full custom as yet. It is mainly for asthetics to fit my color. If it cant be done or is too risky so be it, but I would love some opinions/Experiences Cheers Guys. Picture to show you why I want to mod it

Hello guys I always wanted to do case modding, so finally I started it, also I am new to this forum so if you have any suggestions please feel free to share So basicly I wanted different mounting position for my AIO from Fractal Design, so I made custom brackets to mount it like I wanted. This is all for now, but I will do more very soon, stay tuned and also you can follow me on Instagram (@gg.design_) P.S. I will paint the brackets and post the pictures probably tommorow.

Trying to mod a PSU cover to my Phantom 410 - First try was "successful", kinda failed a little and over-did the angle of the bend, it fits but it looks angled and weird. Plus I only covered the PSU with it and not the bottom HDD cages (which I intend to keep for now until I have enough money for a custom loop) I also managed to chip a part of the perspex in the area of the front I\O connectors as I tried to drill a round hole using a metal bit on a jigsaw to make that hole. I aim to do a better job this time and seek some advice: Firstly, should I cut them in a circle or just got for a rectangle? If so, how do I do that for the GPU one mostly, since it should be 4cm in diameter? Second, I'd like to add a hole to route my GPU cable upwards. How should I drill through the sheet? It's 3mm thick. Rectangular hole sizes are 4x1cm for the GPU cable and 5x1 for the Front I/O connector area. Tools I've got are pretty much just a drill and a jigsaw, both with only metal and wood drill bits (maybe got some cement drill bits, also they're all less than 1cm if I'm not mistaken), could get my hands on a dremmel\circular saw but that'll take more time. Thanks in advance!

Modding 2 x 6pin into a single 8pin So silly me didn't realize the GPU i just ordered requires a single 8pin and i only have 2 6pins on my PSU Here is my PSU Its a 460W from Delta Electronics with the following ratings I have measured its output and its given ratings are true. My question is since the 2 x 6pin connectors in question come off of the same 6 wires in theory the wire should be rated to handle 150W aka 8 pin spec, so i should be able to plug the 6 pin in the left side of the 8pin and than cut 2 grounds off of the second 6 pin and use those no?

I'm using nv mod organizer to mod my game and I've downloaded archiveinvalidation file generator and when l double click to install it tells me no game data on top level. Btw, when l enter getNVMEversion in fnv it shows l have version 5. Does this mean l am running the 4gb script extender? Thanks.

So today I revieved the Cablemod sleeved cables that I ordered last week. Now I took a closer look at them, and I want to check that this is how the cables are supposed to look, and not a defect. In the first picture there are some cords missing in the connector, this is a molex cable. The second is a PCI-E cable and has to cords in the same place on the connector, but on spot in the connector is empty. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi. So I've been recently looked into modifying my MasterCase 5 Pro, and got a lot of recommendations on using the NZXT's Hue+ with the 4 RGB strips. And beyond that I was also looking to upgrade my case fans and thought the Corsair's 120mm ML120's would do justice for the build. But then I stumbled upon a problem. See, I want my case to be well lit as the result of this build, so I'd like to know, should I go for the ML120 which have white lighting on them, or should I just go with the regular ML120 without any lighting? Does the lighting of the fans have big impact on the rest of the case lighting? -Sebbyy

Hey y'all, I'm sure this question has been answered in the forum before, but I was wondering if anyone had some tips they could share when painting/stenciling a large case. I've decided to recolor my case and spray an image onto the side (I'm going for a Fallout Nuka-Cola theme), but was wondering what the best material would be to cut the stencil into, as well as the best way to keep it from sliding around on my behemoth CoolerMaster HAF X case. I've seen people use frisket film, construction paper, tape, and adhesive sprays on Youtube, but haven't found any good tutorials specifically for computer cases. Thanks!

Hey guys, since my last build was over a year ago, I decided to start a new project. I bought a used pc from eBay for a small home server. It cost me about 100 Euros. Now I will try some kind of a budget, sick looking, modded Pc build :-)
