I just saw this video from Tested on the Avegant Glyph virtual reality headset and came away from it thinking "what the f are they up to?" (Also sorry for the sensationalist title.) In short, its a VR headset unlike most others in 2 main respects:Firstly, the tech looks awesome, instead of an LCD screen, it uses a single LED and a micro mirror array to manipulate the light and direct it directly into your eye to create the image. Its supposed to me more comfortable to view and you don't get the black grid ("screen door effect") that is a byproduct of the sub-pixel arrangement in LCD displays. Secondly, the intent looks, for lack of a better word, dumb. Unlike OR and other VR sets like project Morpheus, its not intended for gaming, at least not PC gaming. The guy in the interview said its intended for consuming media, for plane or long train journeys I can see this making sense, though there are already a bunch of devices out there that have been doing this for years. However he kept bringing up mobile gaming and this is where I disagree. Mobile gaming is making headlines as being the biggest genre of games by far and predicted to overtake the financial value of consoles this year. And when companies see that, its understandable that they want a piece of the pie (and at $34 billion in 2013 alone, that's a big pie!). But has their marketing department though this through for a second. Per capita mobile games are worth less than console or pc games, after all there is only so much you can persuade people to pay for the next angry birds, or get them to repeatedly make small micro-transactions to keep crushing candy. But because SO MANY people play, they can earn a lot of money. Lots play because its convenient and cheap, at least as long as you don't fall into a micro-transaction trap. What part of that demographic could they persuade to pay out $500 IN ONE GO so they can look like cyclops on while playing candy crush, even a racing game on their coffee break? 0.001%? And even then I doubt it will be the primary purpose of the device. And as Oculus found out, the head-tracking they were talking about implementing will likely make their users feel sick and what phone will be able to render at a high enough frame rate for a good VR experience either? It just seems like a waste of some really interesting technology. PC gaming or productivity would be great on this thing, and I'll be following its progress, hoping they will do a PC version. Just give it much (2-3x) more than the current 45 degree FoV, loose the headphones (at least on 1 version), accurate head tracking and low latency and they will have an OR killer! I'm curious. What do you think? Are you a big mobile gamer and does this appeal to you? Is there actually a market for this as is? Or like me do you wish for a PC version?

Was wondering with the new update for android allowing 64bit processors to be used, with the amount of ram in phones, (no more than 3GB), what is actually the point of having 64bit in phones. Also the introduction of more budget phones running chips like the snapdragon 410, what benefits does this give to budget phones which are likely not to have any more than 2GB of ram for a long while.

sorry if this is already mentioned cant check due to search not being there https://www.gov.uk/gosuperfast Government and local authorities are investing £1.7 billion to help bring superfast broadband to over 95% of the UK by 2017. there is a postcode checker that tells you options for broadband in the area dont know if there is any push to make things cheaper for personal broadband but there seems that there is up to a £3000 voucher for businesses which I think can only be a good thing but i do wonder how that will work if it is a £3000 for investment or to keep bills going overtime .... website is brief https://www.gov.uk/broadband-delivery-uk gives more detail with a 3 phase program to cover 90% then 95% and then test ways to provide to the remaining 5% as well as SuperConnected Cities Programme that has broadband connection voucher scheme, Wi-Fi projects and "innovative digital projects" could we see similar to whats planned in New York(?) eventually happen in the UK? as well as investments in mobile infrastructure trying to remove the black spots so everyone has some coverage https://www.gov.uk/government/policies/making-it-easier-for-the-communications-and-telecoms-industries-to-grow-while-protecting-the-interests-of-citizens/supporting-pages/improving-mobile-coverage https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-secures-landmark-deal-for-uk-mobile-phone-users Full mobile coverage going up from 69% to 85% with guaranteed voice and text to 90% having legally binding contracts with EE, O2, Three and Vodafone

My laptop is broken and I need a new computer . I have a limit of $2000aud, I want to have a great gaming experience but at the same time I need a laptop because I'm start university soon. So my plan is to get a $1500 gaming rig and $500 laptop to use a service like Google's remote desktop that allows me to stream my desktop at home. Is there and tips or help that anyone give me for this plan either from personal experience or other let me know. I.e. Better services than Google's solution. Or if this idea sounds or works great let me know so I know I'm on the right track. My logic : So if I'm wrong tell me in chat and tell me the alternate solution. So the concern I have with buy a $2000aud gaming laptop is that a. It's heavy at this price range and B it's not going to be as good as a $1500aud gaming desktop. So by buying a $1500aud and a $500 laptop I can: A. Keep all files in one place rather than starring an assignment at uni then transfer to save it at home. (I have considered cloud storage but my net caps fast and I need instant access to my work) B. Because cheap laptops have cheaper parts doing this allows me to have several word docs. open at the same time as well as other applications. (I assume the way it work is that remote desktop just streams a screen as processes are done on the desktop) C. Be all cool and say "yeah this is streaming from home" (note:Try not to go over board with tech words I'm still a console scrub. )

Who da bauss? it's been a while since audio products from Bose was removed from Apple in-stores & online stores Now it's confirmed that they will be back on the apple stores later next year(UPDATE :Maybe available early before this christmas) , While Apple's Beats label and Bose are fierce competitors, the Bose name remains a big draw for customers. Apple and Bose appear to have worked out disagreements as it was confirmed that their headphones & speakers will be featured back on Apple stores later next year..Bose-branded products disappeared from Apple’s website on October 17th without explanation from either party involved Bose Soundlink 3 Bose’s return to Apple’s retail stores follows a hiatus that lasted over a month in which the high-quality headphones and speakers were pulled from both Apple’s online and retail stores without explanation. Good move from apple i guess, but on a flipsyde apple may or maynot have bought them back just to boost profits regarding beats , although these are being sold along with Beats it's profit for them anyways.. recent friction between apple & Bose was the advertising agreement between Bose and the NFL, by which resulted in players appearing on camera during events with the popular Beats headphones being fined creating more contention between Apple’s Beats and Bose. Please do post your thoughts on this down below.. Link: http://9to5mac.com/2014/12/09/bose-beats-apple-store/

You've got mail. Now that's a huge text message On December 3, 1992, Neil Papworth sent the worlds first ever text via short message service . His 15 character missive ‘merry christmas’ was sent to colleague Richard Jarvis..Since then the technique was adapted & popularised by public medium as a must for day to day communication, A personal computer was used to type in the text since mobile phones at that time didn’t have keyboards.. Today, an estimated 2,500 text messages are sent every second in Canada alone. Origin of the SMS Hillebrand who was the chairman of the non-voice services committee for the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) was tasked with developing a technology capable of transmitting, receiving and displaying text messages. The limited bandwidth available on wireless networks, which at the time were the sole reserve of car phones, Friedhelm Hillebrand Hillebrand and his team had to find a data pipeline capable of sending short messages across all cellular carriers and to all mobile phones.the idea of harnessing an existing radio channel that was already used to alert cellphones about reception strength. They tested that it could send 160 characters, but wasn't convinced that no-one ever going to send more than 160 characters Friedhelm Hillebrand found that most complete sentences and questions ran around 160 characters, So thus the standard (old) .Now a days mobile devices support larger & much diverse ways to send a message.. Early GSM handsets did not support SMS, and when they began to, the protocol was only used to inform recipients of a voicemail. It took a further seven years for cross-network SMS to become available.SMS nearly didn’t happen. It was so slow out of the gate, it threatened to simply give up and head back to the stable. During the 90s and early 2000s, teenagers adopted the technology in turn escalated it's popularity among their generation The original Nokia phone beep was actually Morse code for “SMS.” Texting is so popular that among adults aged 26-35 only 1 out of every 10 people would prefer to meet up face-to-face rather than send a text message , Annual text traffic is expected to reach 9.4 trillion by 2016. Flipsyde: Here's a different perspective at things, Texting maybe very useful for everyone But sometimes people take it too far & it has it's "side-effects" it has accounted for numerous fatality on road while texting & driving , Drivers in their 20s make up 27% of the distracted drivers in fatal crashes according to NHTSA move bitch.. get out the waay.. get out the way bitch.. With that out of the way..Here are some fun facts: Teenager Marcel Fernandes Filho recently became the world’s fastest texter by writing this message in 18.19 seconds with the text “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human” go & try that.. Texting is so popular that among adults aged 26-35 only 1 out of every 10 people would prefer to meet up face-to-face rather than send a text message. 63% of teens text on a daily basis, with some sending as many as 100 text messages per day. British surgeon David Nott performed a life-saving operation on a teenage boy in the Congo. He had never done the surgery before few in the world had but he pulled it off by receiving text message instructions on the procedure from a colleague. Research shows that elementary school students who text are actually better spellers than their students who don’t text. (AFAIK / YOLO/ SWAG) Neils paperworth Neils paperworth was 22 years old at the time of the inaugural text, working as a software engineer for the British company Vodafone to improve pager and cellphone messaging systems at a time when few people even carried cellphones. Richard Jarvis the person who he was sending the message to was at a Vodaphone Christmas party Pretty cool news Imo, Post your thoughts on this down below... Apple Fanboys Rejoice Good news for Apple people, Firefox is planning to set foot on the iOS devices later next year , The news was officially announced by Firefox release manager Lukas Blakk Apple has been very restrictive with regard to third-party browser engines on its platform. Current third-party iOS browsers like Chrome or Opera can only operate on iOS because they use Apple’s own JavaScript and rendering engines, It’s unclear how Mozilla plans to bring Firefox to iOS, but given that Apple isn’t likely to open up its platform for third-party browser engines, it’ll likely have to work with Apple’s technology. With that, it can still support Firefox accounts, its bookmark-syncing tools and all the other features that Firefox for Android currently offers. Apple has been very restrictive with regard to third-party browser engines on its platform. Current third-party iOS browsers like Chrome or Opera can only operate on iOS because they use Apple’s own JavaScript and rendering engines, for example or, as in the case of Opera, by rendering sites on a server and then sending them to the device. Pretty cool news imo , Mozilla's been changing a lot lately , they announced the new partnership with Yahoo & made their search engine as default on later newer versions of firefox, The also changed the layout of the search box making it more easier to navigate, Please do post your thoughts on this down beloooooooooooooooooooooeeeeeeeeee Link Source: https://twitter.com/lsblakk/status/539843892300898304 News Source: http://techcrunch.com/2014/12/02/firefox-could-soon-come-to-ios/

Seriously, this thing looks like a broken door knob Just a Heads up: Any or All of the images might get taken down soon/early so.. if so, You haven't seen me first of all :This could possibly be an elaborate fake, but couple of sources are citing this as the real prototype image of the phone that has been leaked..Microsoft has yet to comment, Now read the rest of it.. Nope it's not the Lumia 1020 But this model Being called Lumia 1052 ,This prooves that Microsoft is still developing the Lumia line of the previous Nokia brand phones, The new alleged prototype of the phone was leaked by a chineese auction site. This Brand is boasting almost a whole aluminium body (except for some plastic lining at the bottom) The phone is running Windows Phone 8.1 with shown specs of 2GB of RAM and what appears to be a 5-inch 1080p display. The camera bump is the obvious addition here, dominating the rear of this device with its aluminum body. Peek into the system specs Seriously can someone translate the rest for me? Currently there's no news info on how powerful the camera is in this leaked prototype. While the camera is large, the device is fitted with an LED flash rather than the xenon flash found on the Lumia 1020, and the lens appears to lack a mechanical shutter Fishy text font Rumor is that this mysterious device could also be the canceled "Nokia McLaren" handset that was supposed to showcase Microsoft’s Kinect-like Windows Phone gestures. On-screen Windows Phone buttons, instead of dedicated physical buttons, this one is allegedly carrying that function if you don't know what that was, the McLaren version was supposed to support floating off-screen gestures that don’t require owners to physically touch the display. kinda like virtual 3d gestures that you can do to activate actions corresponding to it, just like a kinect from Xbox. So, to recap: Screen size : 5" Screen resolution : Full HD (1920x1080) panel unknown CPU : 4 cores (unknown) Camera : Unknown internal memory : 32gigs Operating System : Windows 8.1 Ram memory : 2 gigs Rest is just some fishy rumors Post your thoughts on this down below, if it's apparently the real thing, it's too thick & the design is just another recycled idea i think, Post your thoughts & rants & praises on it down beloooooooee.. Moar expensive stuffs . . i'm looking forwards to your angry rant on this image According to the recent data from IBM Digital Analytics Benchmark our beloved Apple users outspend Android users on their online shopping. The "News" was reported by CNN. Apple users are 3 times more likely to make a purchase on their mobile or tablet device, and made up 25% of total online sales on Thursday. This is despite the fact that Google's operating system is the top smartphone platform in the U.S. market. As more retailers launched their Black Friday sales a day early, shoppers realized they didn't have to leave their house or be in front of a computer to score a deal. Half of all online shopping on Thursday including browsing was done on a mobile device. according to the most recent data from IBM Digital Analytics Benchmark.Apple iOS mobile users spent about 25% more than Android owners on their thanksgiving purchases, with an average of $118.57 per order compared to Androids users $95.25 per purchase According to initial results from Adobe, Black Thursday sales made on smartphones and tablets came in at $254 million , Sales slowed down as the day continued, as earlier reports showed the average order value of Apple iOS users came in at $122.08 and $97.25 for Android users. pretty interesting News imo, Do leave your thoughts on this down there beloooooe... I've recently gotten a Moto X 2014 with Corning gorilla glass 3. I've not been able to get a screen protector just yet, but I'm getting one soon. Sadly, I've also found that I have a tiny, shallow scratch on the top bezel. I was wondering what the best way to get this scratch out was? Maybe tooth paste I've heard? Any advice on cleaning the screen before putting the protector on would also be appreciated.

Apparently the Galaxy is not expanding @OriginalPromise News comes courtesy of WSJ & TLDR is at the very bottom According to the report due to the decreased sales in their flagship mobile galaxy line which comparatively sold far less than previous flagship models Samsung is considering a shake up in their management, Samsung’s had a brutal year so far in which third-quarter profit fell 60% amid market-share declines in smartphones around the world. Samsung reportedly overestimated how much stock would be needed, leading to an increased advertising spend to get rid of units that were "piling up in warehouses." In one scenario under discussion, co-chief executive and mobile head J.K. Shin who had presided over Samsung’s rapid ascent as well as its recent tumble in smartphones could be moved out of his role overseeing the mobile division. That could mean Mr. Shin, 58 years old, loses his co-CEO role. Samsung sold about 40% fewer Galaxy S5 smartphones than expected, with about 12 million units sold to consumers in the first three months since April compared with about 16 million units for the preceding flagship phone Samsung has been feeling the heat from low-cost smartphone makers in China, India and other countries. Also Samsung has cut orders for its Galaxy S4 (last year's flagship phone) back to 5 million units from 6 million units. Sad Samsung is Sad.. the Galaxy S4, according to people familiar with the matter. Only in one major market did Samsung sell more Galaxy S5 smartphones than it did the S4 & that is in the U.S., Which is Samsung’s biggest market, Samsung produced about 20% more devices than it did of the Galaxy S5’s predecessor, basing the numbers on a survey of its carrier partners around the world, who were asked to predict demand but who weren’t on the hook for any unsold devices, The news is all speculation with a solid backing from trusted source , as Samsung declined to comment on the subject from various other news sources quoting that "We don't comment on rumors and speculation" Pretty harsh news for Sam boys (especially @OriginalPromise) ,What are your thoughts on this? leave a comment down below... The news apple fanboys have been waiting for... Original article from WSJ Samsung, the biggest Android smartphone manufacturer has announced that it would reduce its smartphone lineup offerings by about 25 to 30 percent in an effort to battle the declining profits, Samsung's financial reports last month explained that profits had almost halved in the quarter. However Robert Yi didn’t list the models the company is planning to discontinue, Head of Investor Relations said that the number of models would be cut by around 25 to 30 percent. So possibly less Galaxy Megas, Cores, Rounds, Edges and Minis, and if the company gets it right, a new smartphone star. The Korean technology giant has had been reporting poor profits since last four quarters. In October, Samsung reported a 49 percent drop in its third-quarter net profit. The company had maintained profit margins above 15 percent for 10 consecutive quarters, but now the profits have slid to an alarming 7 percent. Cheaper xoami tabs & smartphones in the market have made samsungs sales plummet where ti shined in sales of low end mid range smartphones & tablets The company is facing stiff competition from Motorola, Xiaomi, Gionee and several other manufacturers to sell devices in the developing regions, due to competitions’ impressive and cheap offerings. The company last month launched the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 smartphones, the first phones in company’s mid-level offerings to sport metal body design. a brave move from Samsung i think, instead of keeping on the same business mentality to push on pointless deal out to the market when facing such stiff competition from rising companies.. Well, this certainly seems to be interesting. Intel just announced that it intends to combine its loss generating mobile division and the heavily profitable PC division into one group. Their reasoning for this move could be summed up with the following quote that spokesperson Chuck Mulloy released: There's two ways to look at this. Either Intel is becoming super serious (or more so than the same Intel a year ago) about mobile, or this is a response to the recent cries from their investors to explain the way their mobile division bleeds money. In Q3 2014, the mobile division lost $1.04 billion while the PC guys were swimming in an operating profit of more than $4 billion (nothing really new either). By combining the two, they can easily hide their losses under a mountain of cash and pretend nothing ever happened. Guess we will have to wait and see what comes of this?
