So i have a relatively old computer, that i turned into a makeshift server so that me and my siblings can play minecraft together. But whenever theres more than one player on the server it becomes really laggy, basically unresponsive sometimes, constant timeouts. Im gonna post as much as i can about the pc: It has Windows Home 64-bit OS i3-4170 3.70GHz 8GB Dual-Channel DDR 3 ram B85M-K Motherboard 2x500HDD( -1. Seagate ST3500630AS -2. Western Digital WDC WD5000AAKX-60U6AA0) The server runs off of the Seagate Drive And thats about it for the specs. The server is being por-forwarded so no hamachi or programs like that are running in the backgroud. The internet speed is 250-300Mbps download and 20Mbps Upload, the upload speed might be the issue speed? Another thing to point out that maybe of interest is that file sharing is enabled over the network, so i can access some of the HDD that the server is being ran on from my pc. I did not allow access to the server folder itself. Hopefully one of you can maybe help, im really at the end of my knowledge, and i have no one to turn to.

So I want to make PC Build that is dedicated to being a server, most of the time, modded minecraft And what helps the decision is that there aren't any hosting providers that is close to our area (Saudi Arabia) that can give us under 100 ping, not terrible but not that great either Here's the build I came up with: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: Intel Core i3-9100F 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Processor ($78.00 @ B&H) Motherboard: Gigabyte B365M DS3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($74.99 @ B&H) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 16 GB (4 x 4 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($86.99 @ Newegg) Storage: HP EX900 120 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($34.99 @ Monoprice) Power Supply: EVGA 500 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($40.98 @ Newegg) Total: $315.95 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-04-01 20:03 EDT-0400 My goal: making it cheaper if possible I looked up the best single core performance CPU from here, and then picked up the best from the cheapest I thought about taking a ryzen instead, while its a bit slower and pricier, the mobo will be significantly cheaper (~$40/30) but I retained from that since it's slower and does need higher clocked RAM to get the most out of it Also, I will be running MC Eternal modpack (~300 mods), and my upload speed is around 8MB/s, Wish should cut it We are around 3-4, maybe sometimes up to 8 but mostly 3 or 4 Should this build cut it for exploring and building machines without lag/low TPS? I also got that I didn't need any cooler for the build, is this correct? because it weirded me out (I originally added 212 Evo cooler) the only thing that im not sure about is the quad channel memory, as I might want it to be 32GB in the future (to open more servers on the same machine), as I've heard quad channel might help the performance, specially in minecraft I will be running like 1 Modpack and maybe 2 Vanillas (Maybbe If I'm about that life I might open another modpack at the same time, but probably a lighter version) Also I could use it for other stuff such as storing, so its somewhat worth the investment Note: I want to build my own because I like having fun with computers and servers And im pretty sure I made poor choices or forgot something from an aspect of the build/minecraft server, any help would be appercaited! thanks

How well would running a minecraft server with mods work on a 2200G, and would you be able to play on it at the same time? Edit: for clarity the computer is being the server

Budget: I have already created a parts list for the computer I am planning to build. +-$350 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I am planning to create a local Minecraft server with this build and eventually upgrade it to become a NAS. Other details https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Blacksmith121212/saved/6swF8d I know this pc is not very power full right now, but i planned this out so it will have an upgrade path. I have already figured out how to create a Minecraft server and how to set up network drives. I only have two questions. 1, Is it possible to use a different public IP address to access the Minecraft server? 2, I have my personal pc on the same desk with the one I am planning to build, is it possible to have a USB type c connection to the (eventually) NAS, and have it act like a direct/external hard drive or should I just upgrade the storage in my personal rig?

could a 3,1 mac pro be used to run a minecraft server?
thehardwarehacker posted a topic in PC Gaming
so, this is more asking if this idea would work on any sort of small to medium scale. i have a 3,1 mac pro tower, with 8 cores, and currently 16GB of ram, all other part are base for rite now. if i want to set this up as a minecraft server for when some of my nephews come over (about 3-6 of them), and have them connect to it with laptops running the minecraft client, would that work at all? -
I would like to run a dedicated minecraft FTB server on my seperate PC, which is currently running Ubuntu 16.04, but I am having trouble on how to handle it, since I am still new to the OS. What I'm asking for, is help and guidance on how to run the file that launches the server on Ubuntu, since it is very different from Windows. Thanks! -Crafting

I was thinking about building a cheap pc for hosting small game servers (4-6 players). Mostly minecraft, but some other games as well. I have some ddr3 ram lying around as well as hard drives and a power supply. The only thing I need is a CPU and a motherboard. Would something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Asus-Mini-DDR3-Motherboard-N3050I-C/dp/B01LYCDG4H/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1497344125&sr=8-6&keywords=integrated%2Bcpu%2Bmotherboard&th=1 or this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JO1DIIM/ref=psdc_1048424_t2_B01G5I70RG be enough or do I need something with some more muscle power? Keep in mind I have a low budget and I want it to consume a low amount of electricity.

Hello everyone! My wife, kid sister, and five of my friends have been playing Minecraft together and I have been paying for a server from a website. My wife wants to get rid of the server since we pay 25 a month for it but we are trying to find a cheaper option. There are a lot of old server equiptment on Ebay but I am not sure which one I should get. We play with a very large amount of mods so I was looking at 16 or 32gb ram setups. Here is the one I was looking at: http://m.ebay.com/itm/HP-Proliant-DL380-G6-Server-2U-2x-2-93GHz-Quad-Core-Xeon-24gb-DDR3-DVD-ROM-/132041061836?nav=SEARCH Not entirely sure if that has everyone I need. Any advice would be nice.

Hello all, I’d like to start my own Minecraft: Bedrock Edition server but I’m running into issues. I downloaded the files necessary to run the server from Mojang. But...I have no idea how to actually connect to this server from my iPad. I know that usually to add a server I would go to “Servers” tab and enter a new one. I know the port for my server but how can I find what the address for my server is? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey! So yesterday I decided to make my own ubuntu server because I had some spare parts (always wanted to try it). The installation was flawless, and connecting via filezilla and PUtty went flawlessly and after installing spigot I could even connect.. via lan. Trying to connect using ipv4 (public): XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX did however not work. I then tried the obvious and added a rule in my internet config panel: https://gyazo.com/c83281c3d727ac5aab30eaf8db0a952f according to guides online. It still does not work though, and I wonder why? shouldn't Linux Server be very port-open by default? I had its built in firewall when I first tried it, I now have it on with an exception on 25565, same result though. Help? Ubuntu version: 18.04.3 LTS Minecraft version: 1.14.4 Router: Com Hem WiFi Hub C2 Thanks, olesien

Hey everyone, I am currently in the process of setting up a Minecraft server for some friends, due to the fact I have a rather complex network in my home due to how my home was built, and the fact that said server has some sketch to it (thereby making the current placement, and networking solution rather set in stone), I need to route the data through a Windows 10 PC. Thereby necessitating the search for the instructions and/or the program to port-forward the connection through this PC. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey, I want to install Mineos on an SSD, I got my USB flash drive with the Mineos installer on it, and I plugged it in. Then I configured it properly and it bootet to the screen where I could choose if install it on the SSD or to run it from the USB flash drive. I choose the installation. Ten it came all ways to the same result. It stopt and it shows me the same error over and over again. This happened also with a different SSD.. I am including a picture of the errors, witch it shows me every time. I would appreciate it, if someone could help me. Thanks in advance for all sorts of help

I am in search of a CPU. A CPU that shouldn't be too hard to find but is. A forge 1.12.2 server uses around 16 threads to operate, 3-4 cores, and a lot of memory. I work at a server center supplier and as server centers upgrade their DDR3 racks for DDR4 I am able to take as much as I want from the trash so I say to myself, my friends and I run a server on one of our PC's but what if we had a dedicated rig so I start looking into it. I figure I could use PcPartPicker to help configure it but soon find out you cant filter a CPU by memory type and so I turn to forums. I am looking for a 18 thread, 4 or more core, 4.2 or higher boost clock CPU That accepts DDR3 ECC memory. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. (I plan to use something like a R9 290 and just as much RAM as possible with whatever motherboard will support the CPU and RAM for the rest of the build)

I have an old laptop that i dont use anymore because it has such a small battery. But i can keep it plugged in on my desk, and i was wondering what to do with it. It has an SSD and a wired connection to the internet, so those wont be a problem. But im wondering if my CPU and GPU will be a problem. The thing is running on an AMD FX-7500, with the integrated R7 graphics with 6 cores of that. and 8 gigs of ram, with 1 gig divvied to VRAM. so 7 usable. Will this be fine for running a server? it'll only be for my friends and me, so not that big. Will this be okay?

Ok, so I've done a little looking around and come up dry on this one. I play Modded Minecraft like religiously (seriously is there a meeting I can go to?) I got in to it to bond with my 8 year old Son on Daddy weekends and we both enjoy it a lot. So, I was thinking about figuring out a way to make it so that I can create a Minecraft Server out of an old Windows Server 2012 R2 Server that I have but I'm not sure how I'd go about it. I know you can download the Minecraft Server Software I did find that but from what I can tell you have to pay to run a Minecraft Server. Maybe I'm wrong on that one though. I would like to set up the Server so that we can both connect to it and play in the same world. I was thinking get some headsets so we can talk and build our world and just have a good time. I guess when it comes to the Server portion though I'm in the dark on what I need to do or if the Server itself is even going to work with that since it's really nothing special (HP Proliant ML350 G6). Anyone have any experience with this and could maybe give me some input on how I might be able to go about this. I don't want to open it up for anyone else but us two. Thanks, Ryan

I wanted to run a Craft-Bukkit Minecraft server for my friends. I followed the steps mentioned in this article and this article. My router (Bell Home Hub 2000) settings under advanced options had a port forwarding option. I opened ports 25565 on TCP & UDP. When my friends tried to connect, it would time out or give an error (I forget the error). I earlier tried a vanilla server and it didn't work either. My router model is a Home Hub 2000 by Bell. OS is Windows 10 Professional 64-bit edition. Motherboard: MSI H270 GAMING M3 CPU: Intel Core i7;7700 @ 3.60GHz GPU: ASUS Strix GTX 1060 RAM: 16GB Physical Memory Storage: 500GB SSD, 1TB SSD, 2TB HDD (external) PSU: EVGA 750W or 850W BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 2.00 Hopefully it helps!
