To start, I have always been a huge fan of mATX boards. They're smaller, I can still use SLI/CrossFire, the cost would be a bit less, and they still would have todays gaming/hepc features. I recently built a new cube pc, but to my dismay there was a dismal selection of z370 mATX. I found that the features I was looking for was existed for ATX in plethora (understandably) and also there are rather good gaming mITX. However, it seems that the mATX has become the model that cuts a lot of features, and are intended to be the cheap boards. In this gen, it's missing things like USB 3.1 gen2 (type a or c), rgb lighting (which isn't major), m.2 cooling, more than 4 I/O ports, etc.. Looking at Asus, their Z370 mATX seems to be a downgrade from the Z270 version. They used to have the Gene under their Maximus and Rampage. MSI however does have their Gaming Pro AC, but that seems to be the only clear choice. I was also hoping for an m.2 cooler, but I could add one on. Is mATX is dying? Do people tend to prefer mITX or ATX over mATX?

So, From my old thread that I have had issues with ASRock AB350m Pro4, I've decided to go with different brands instead. Plus, I'm locked to either ITX or Micro ATX since my case is Define Mini C. (Plus, I use another PCI-E slot for my capture card.) Which one do you guys recommend? I've not heard a bad review for both of them yet, and seems like ASUS' VRMs are better. (Last corner question since I need to get my rig up as soon as possible, as I'm using my weird ghetto laptop setup atm.) Parts I have now:

I was wondering if anyone could recommend some compact micro atx cases. I like glass, lighting and all those kind of things so id rather it not be plain. Help is very much appreciated!

Hey, I am building my dad a computer and I need a good micro atx case that is preferably OD Green. If you were wondering what are the specs it is a Ryzen 3 1200, 500w psu, gt 710 (I know bad choice but it is only being used for solitaire),1x4gb ddr4, MSI B350 MOBO, Transcend 120gb ssd. I would prefer the case to be a cube, black cases are also taken into consideration. I was looking at the core v21 but on amazon they are only letting prime members buy it.

I'm moving to a different apartment with a cramped up space and I'm in a hassle. I'm looking for the smallest of the small. So if it's possible, I want Mini ITX and the smallest case out there. So I'll have to upgrade. Which is good because I want to upgrade to coffee lake anyway, so here's my chance. There is only one big caveat concerning my wish. Most mini ITX cases recommend a founders edition blower style graphics card since that removes heat from the back of the case. Mine is a Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080 TI. It also has RGB which I probably never get to see in a mini itx case. Unfortunately I can't help I bought that card, I already did so I have to live with that. I'm also quite unlucky with my particular graphics card edition. Out of all the open air custom cooling setups for my GTX 1080 TI this particular version of a open air cooler has a copper backplating that gets the hottest. It is the copper backplating that gets the hottest out of all the sides this card has. It's the part that makes you burn your fingers during heavy gaming, not the front side where the fans are. Almost all the mini ITX cases that I can find have that side of the graphics card shielded and compartmentalized. Linus has a comparison video of mini itx cases that illustrates this quite well. This specific 1080 TI version desperately requires ventilation over the back. There is a case solution that kind of arranges things that solves this problem especially when using high pressure ventilation inside the casing. That is the... First of all It's ridiculously overpriced and I can't get it in my home country (Europe: Netherlands) Shipping it by buying from E-Bay adds lots of shipping costs and shipping time. I really don't like the idea of this for that reason, but I might be tempted if this computer case is my only option. If you skip throughout the video you'll see how it manages the orientation of the graphics card and why it offers a better cooling solution for my particular graphics card. I have yet to find out whether it barely fits my GTX 1080 TI by the way. I also don't necessarily have to have my case that small or this particular case for that matter. I just posted that link to show what type of case arrangement of similar size I would need. What I've read is that the NCASE M1 is the champion under small form factor. My future case may be larger. Do you guys know of other mini ITX cases that have good cooling options for graphics cards of my design? My case may be bigger then the above. I certainly am looking for a case of a size as close to the NCASE M1 or that particular case itself. But it's probably going to be one that is larger obviously. Obviously I can't find such cases otherwise I wouldn't post this. So basically I'm hoping any users here are better cataloged about the available options out there. If I'm really looking for something that doesn't exist I would want to discuss the smallest mATX cases. Important info in case your willing to help me. My computer desk is open on the right where my chair sits but has a build in drawer on the left side. It is a very deep and wide high gloss desk that can only fit the room in one orientation. At least, the room I'm moving over to in a month. I want to put my case under the drawer because it doesn't fit anywhere else besides on top of the desk where it will look ugly in my opinion. If the case sits under the drawer it cannot be higher then 340mm or 17" if inches sound better to you (allowing 4mm sparing) Scrap of a centimeter or 2 for top airflow to escape in case fan mounts are at the top. This is very important! I'm already thankful for your intention to help me. All you can top it of with is making me actually happy

I am really new to all this and I am really confused on what does the motherboard with the 12V ATX 8pin or 4pin power connector used for? I know its partly for powering the CPU but why, when and how do i select between 4 pins and 8 pins ? If its solely for the CPU , when do i choose 4 or 8 pins?

let's get to the point. here's my spec: - intel g4560 stock cooler - galax nvidia gtx 1050 oc single fan - galax 120gb 2.5" sata3 - WDC blue 1TB sata3 3.5" - cougar STX 450w - ASRock h110m-hdv - Geil EVO X RGB 1x8gb 2133mhz DDR4 Currently i'm using Cube Gaming Berg case, but damn that case is so big for my small and minimalistic components. so far the smallest case i've found is In Win 301 but that is too expensive if the prices combined with import cost (i live in indonesia), roughly $205 (the case only $82.23 including tax). can i have much smaller case that still support up to mATX board? with PSU cover and cable management support too... and.... can i get free shipping somehow?

Hello there fellow people of the inter-web! I'm slowly putting together a new build together to upgrade to in the december 2017. Here's the lay down for the parts I have reconsidered. Seeking advice, gimme your guys thoughts. I'm unsure on the storage for this build, I want an SSD but I don't know what will work. Not looking for anything big just 120gb nothing more. I currently have a regular one terabyte hard drive that i want to pair with it for backup storage. Also looking for a good liquid cooling system, idk if this one will work (I put the one I researched for my build here down below) (power connectors wise) I'm unsure. Anyways Thank You!!! This will be running three monitors thanks!!! (Budget isn't a issue) Motherboard: MSI B350M Gaming PRO AM4 Micro ATX Motherboard Processor: Ryzen 5 1600x Power Supply: Coolmax Power Supply ATX 600 Power Supply Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SSC GAMING ACX 3.0 Storage: ??? Cooling: MasterLiquid Lite 240 Liquid Cooling Case: Rosewill - Micro ATX Mini Tower FBM-01

I am looking to build a small gaming desktop for use in univesity, supplemented by a chromebook for classes. I'm looking at a price range of up to 1.3k CAD (~1k USD). So first off, here is my parts list right now: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/KxcZcc So I want a micro atx or mini itx case to be portable as I will be alternating between work terms and study terms in my program. Is a mini ITX rig viable in the price range I'm looking at? Also I have no idea whether these parts will actually fit in the case I have selected. In addition to my questions about the case, if you have any suggestions about parts then I'm all ears (one thing is that I have opted to go with just a 500gb SSD as I can use a spare HDD I have lying around from my old rig). Thanks you so much!

Hi guys. I currently been thinking about getting the motherboard And eveything out of my ps4 and before that i wanted to know if it is possible to put it inside a computer case, like a micro atx ?

Okay, I'm doing a dirt cheap Micro ATX build. I need a case for under $20 USD. I don't care how shady the website is or how crapy the build quality is, I just want a housing for the build. Thanks -Nick

So I have been seeing a lot on the forums here about people who are planning a new Build for their PC, but I have to ask this question because I am getting confused beyond belief about why people are recommending it. I have seen in a large number of posts the Micro ATX Board being recommended whilst people are building in ATX Towers. I understand the advantage that it takes up less space in the tower, but that doesn't actually change the fact that the backplate still typically has to be put in the same position as a full sized ATX Board. I understand the componants are closer together on a Micro-ATX board, which begs me to ask why would you want that when cooling off a rig that you are overclocking, or heavily gaming on is going to be a factor. So the Micro ATX board can support up to 32 GB RAM but only has 2 Slots available. and often I am finding it only supports 16GB RAM(not in the example given below) On almost all Micro-ATX Boards there is often only 1 PCIE lane - which ok nice as it is to have one running at full bandwidth capacity, I want to be able to Run SLI in my new Build when I finally get to it (Summer 2017) That and there is often a lot more funtionality on a Standard ATX Board that isn't available on the Micro-ATX Boards. As an Enthusiast Builder and Avid Gamer, Why would I want to Go with the Micro-ATX Board that I am finding is so often being recommended in here in suggestion lists because of it's price for budget builds. But what are your thoughts and opinions on this?

I like the idea of dual chamber, but need something with a small foot-print. Quality is key, price isn't a worry. What are your recommendations? I have already dropped $1500 on new components this month and my old Lian Li is showing it's age. Max I want to spend: $180ish USDColor: I prefer Grey/gray/gun metal, but I'm totally open to a black or white case depending on style. I like the looks of Bit Fenix, be quiet!, Corsair, Lian Li, Phantex, etc. Thanks in advance, Piggy

Hello everyone! I was recently browsing the "New Builds and Planning" sub-forum, and I have seen a lot of posts, respectively. What was weird is I saw that the majority of people were looking for budget PC builds, in the range of $600 to $1,000 US dollars. So that is where I got the idea for this. I have formed a list of PC parts to make a $720 Micro ATX blue and white Gaming PC. I have decided to post up all of the parts in this post because most of you are looking for PC's in that price range. So here it is! I am looking to build a system that I can bring with me on my occasional vacation in our RV. I am thinking if I can get a way to possibly mount a monitor or a ups system to the case if I can. Any suggestions for cases?

I know this might sound a little ridiculous, but please indulge my doubts. I have decided to go with the MSI B150M Bazooka/MORTAR for a GTX 1070 build and my CPU would be a i5 6600. I do not plan on overclocking CPU. The case I plan on using will be the NZXT S340 (white). 1. Will either BAZOOKA or MORTAR support SLI?If neither supports SLI, could you suggest any one micro ATX motherboards that will and which will fit in my case? 2. Most motherboards have around 4+ internal USB headers and the case has only has 2 USB ports in the top. Is there any way of utilizing the remaining 2 unused USB headers on the outer of the case?If that is not possible, is there a use for the extra USB headers at all? 3.What wattage PSU should I get for a GTX 1070 alone and GTX 1070 SLI?

I'm building a PC for a friend. He's living with his parents and jumps between houses a lot and as they live far away from one another, he'd like to take his PC with him. He seems insistent on having a desktop instead of a laptop. He plans on doing gaming but also does video editing. I have this build in mind for him but I was wondering if there is anything I'm overlooking as far as compatibility or any recommendations. Thank you! CPU : Intel Core i5 6600 https://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/m9Gj4D CPU Cooler : Cooler Master Hyper 212X https://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/KzfmP6 Mobo : MSI B150M Mortar https://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/kGcMnQ RAM : Kingston HyperX Fury https://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/xhM323 Boot SSD : Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB https://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/9Q7CmG Secondary HDD : Seagate Barracuda 2TB https://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/KyCwrH Graphics Card : Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 https://pcpartpicker.com/mr/ncixus/ZntWGX (As a caveat, I'm going to throw my old GTX 560 in there for free in the meantime though since he's looking to save some money right now to afford the 1070 later and when there are cheaper non-founder's editions on sale) Case : Xigmatek Aquila https://pcpartpicker.com/mr/amazon/r9sKHx PSU : Thermaltake TR2 500W https://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/bb3RsY Other : Azurewave WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 M.2 card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA9H43VT8137&cm_re=M.2_Wi-Fi_module-_-9SIA9H43VT8137-_-Product The reason I went for the Micro-ATX motherboard was because I wanted something small so he can throw it with him in his car and take it with him easily. Plus the PCIE sockets are apparently very strong which helps when he wants to transport the rig. That was also the main reason behind the case which is durable and has handles. Another great thing about the case is that the mobo is horizontally mounted which means that a full sized CPU Cooler can fit -- which is handy considering the Skylakes can run pretty hot. While I could have gone for a lower end CPU, he plans on doing a lot of video editing in Adobe Premier and capturing with his Elgato 60fps. I thought that it would ease the workload by a lot. The M.2 card at the bottom is for WiFi and Bluetooth which the mobo doesn't come with be default. I know people tend to dislike the PSU choice but it's a leftover 500w that I got brand new and I barely used before I had to upgrade to a higher wattage -- I'm giving it to him for free. Altogether, I was thinking that this is a pretty cheap build (minus the GTX 1070) and something that would be perfect for my friend considering his computing needs and living situation. If I overlooked anything or have any recommendations, please let me know. Thank you!

Hi guys, I have seen that there have been some "compact" mATX motherboards that are a bit thinner due to having 2 ram slots. Does anyone now if there are any lga1151 motherboards like this? Preferably z170. Thanks

Simple question really, starting to getting another build idea put together for a Micro atx build to maybe replace my current mid tower atx build at some point. Currently I'm thinking that my i5 4690k is perfect fine for gaming, as I have yet to have a hiccup at all. Is this still true or are there more reason now to upgrade to an i7 cpu? Most likely a 6700k.

Hello, I am thinking of making a new htpc or a small cube pc - mini itx or micro atx build and i could use all the help i can get. I am thinking of using a g3258 pentium cpu. My problem is that mini itx mobos cost more than micro atx and i cant decide. Well my budget is about 300-350 euros. The cpu cost 71 euros, an 8gb g.skill dual channel ram that i found is at 34 euros and an Adata 240 gb ssd 60 euros so my remaining budget is about 120- 170 euros. For a case i am thinking of an Lc 2008 Mb if i go micro atx which will cost me about 40 euros but not sure about that yet, it depends on the mobo. If anyone knows and can suggest of a good value Mobo either mini Itx or micro atx, a good Psu i would say 300 - 400 watts, a good small case he could help me a lot! Just suggest what you can think would be good near my budget. No gpu needed for the beginning i ll add it later so on board graphics Mobos mostly please. Thank you in advance guys. PS. i ve only build mid tower cases so i don't know a lot about small factor cases and what to be careful in the dimensions.
