Hey guys, I'm in the mids of planning my first ever self-built rig, trying to figure out which parts I want to use. Most have already been chosen but I am having trouble with the GPU. I am trying to compare GPU's to each other and determine which will do the job. I am using an XFX R9 270X so my method was simply to compare every GPU to my current one. The new rig is supposed to be a present for my brother who doesn't play very demanding games (Hearthstone, League of Legends, World of Warcraft- You name it) so it doesn't have to be super powerful. A better graphics card could aswell be a possible upgrade as a present for another occasion. I am looking at a.. Gigabyte R9 270X 2 GB that runs on 1050 MHz stock speed core clock and 1100 MHz boost with 5.6 GHz effective memory clock, (174,99€) Sapphire R7 360 OC 2 GB running on 1060 MHz stock speed core clock without boost and 6.5 GHz effective memory clock, (118,99€) Gigabyte R7 360 OC 2 GB with 1200 MHz stock core speed, no boost and 6.5 GHz effective memory clock (119,99€) and a MSI R7 370 Gaming 2 GB on 1000 MHz stock core speed and 1050 MHz boost along with 5.7 GHz effective memory clock (161,90€) Hands down, I'm on a pretty tight budget but still want to go for a neat looking, red AMD build. The MSI GPU is very tempting because according to HWcompare.com it performs relatively similar to my R9 270X or at least good enough for its purpose. 1050 MHz core speed seems really good to me and I might tinker with overclocks on this particular build if the performance is not good enough. However, looking at both of the R7 360's makes me feel like I could save a good chunk of money and still have a good-enough GPU for its purpose. I watched a lot of LinusTechTips and TechQuickie videos and have read up on a lot of product reviews in preparation for this build but I still don't know what I have to pay attention to when buying a GPU. I usually just go to HWcompare.com but then again, they do not consider different manufacturers which makes me believe that they only compare reference models. So, now, to me- Somebody who doesn't know a great deal about GPU's- It looks like Gigabyte's or Sapphire's R7 360 OC's are actually better than the more expensive R7 370 from MSI. If there's a video that can help me out and I somehow missed out on it, it would be great if you guys could link me to it. Otherwise I would really appreciate some help!

Hey! I'm searching for a 8GB DDR4 Kit for my Skylake build. I've got 80€ left for the RAM. What about the Kingston Fury X 2666MHz CL15-17-17? (71€) Is it better than the kit with 2400MHz CL15-15-15? (65€) I also found G.Skill Ripjaws V clocked at 2800MHz CL15-15-15 for 75€ (best deal, isn't it?) Or should I take something cheaper like Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 2400MHz Cl16-16-16 for about 60€ Which Kit would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

So I have an AMD FX 8350, and whilst playing Battlefield 4, Planetside 2, and sometimes in CS:GO, (Any Semi-Intensive or Intense game) I will drop frames, and having hardware monitor up on my second monitor, I see that I drop "CPU VCORE" Voltage from 1.325V to 0.888V and my clocks go down from 4.0 GHz to about 1.4 GHz, and sometimes even 233 MHz or higher for brief miliseconds, 233 just being hardware monitor's recorded lowest value ever. 90% of the time it stays at 4.0 GHz. Anyways, I am not sure if this is some dumb power saving option, or if I need a new PSU or Motherboard. I am no BIOS genius, but I've tried to turn off every possible "Power Saving" option in UEFI BIOS, and set all "auto" clocks to manual standards instead of automatic. Hello, i was watching a LinusTechTips video and he said that lower latency makes your RAM faster, and when looking at other forums, someone said that for DDR3, anything over 1866MHz is useless, it's better to go with lower latency at that point. So i was going to get some TridentX 8GB (2x 4GB) sticks and i was looking for the lowest latency, but i didn't know what those number even meant. What i think is the lowest latency is this: F3-2400C9D-8GTXD. so my question is after 1866MHz is it true that MHz don't matter and i should focus more on lower latency. And if that's the case is the TridentX 8GB (2x 4GB) F3-2400C9D-8GTXD memory stick the lowest latency. any answer is appreciated!

So I just realized that my ram speed isn't 1600mhz as it should be, instead its 667mhz. I looked around a bit and it says that that speed is for 1 channel, i have dual - channel so 667x2 is 1334. How can i run it at full speed at 1600. I have corsair vengeance 2x4 1600. I also tried to put it to 1600 in bios, but then it just fails to boot.

Is lower memory clock better? Like the Asus - GeForce GT 740's 5k MHz memory clock and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770's 400 MHz memory clock.

So I'm currently planning my PC build, but the ram that I selected's promo expired, and is no listed at $176 CAD...$176 for 2x4GB 1600Mhz Dual channel memory...But what I really wanted to know is, is there any noticeable difference between most 1336Mhz ram and 1600Mhz ram? http://www.ncix.com/detail/adata-xpg-v1-0-8gb-ddr3-1600-45-93607-1928.htm Is this something special? Have I missed out on a great deal?

Hi everybody, I have a problem, I recently started playing world of tanks again and encounterd extreme low fps. While before i runned at 60-80 fps. I searched on the internet and found that the new updates lowered the fps somewhat, yet my 15 fps with a i5 4670k and gtx 770 seemed way to low for me. So i began to search the problem, and found it. My cpu frequency is running at 800mhz and wont go up. Sometimes it gets to 1000 but then goes back to 800. When i start the pc it is the normal 3400 but then just 1 min later it drops and wont go up anymore. I tried other programs but nothing will cause it to go up. I looked at the temps and they seem fine running at 40 degrees celsius. I looked in the bios if any settings were weird but could not find anything. So can anyone of you explain what causes this. Full specs: i5 4670k (not overclocked) msi gtx 770 Gigabyte GA-Z87P-D3 Coolermaster G650M 120gb ssd 1000 gb WD blue Thanks, Daan

Look at the screenshots before trying to answer... For a while now my Windows 7 machine and some programs including but not limited to: NZXT CAM, CpuZ, and Samsung Magician think that my Intel i7 4790K is running at 800mhz. wot. Check screenshots because I'm having a hard time describing this. Preface: I recently re-installed windows about a month ago while installing a new Samsung 850 Evo SSD. I followed a guide on "how to install windows properly" which gave me a couple tips I didn't know of, but didn't feature anything out-of-the-ordinary. I like to keep my system optimized and clean using some trusted, automated tools that include registry cleaners. I also have similar tools that notify me of any updated drivers, which doesn't currently notify me because they're already updated. All windows updates are installed Bios seems to be updated Oh and yes, I did restart Specs and Versions: LTT Build Page PC Part Picker Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Service Pack 1 CurrentBuildNumber 7601 System summary: The problem: Specific programs that have minimum required specs to perform certain actions wrongly say that my CPU is running at a whopping 800mhz (.8ghz) When it's actually overclocked to 4.8, 4.7, 4.6, 4.6ghz for the 4 cores respectively. This is an issue because I can't do things like Enable RAPID mode in Samsung Magician or even reserve windows 10 for my computer. (see screenshots) Screenshots: What I've already tried: Yes, I know that overclocking could be the cause of the issue, that's why I tried with optimized defaults. I've run 'sfc /scannow' I've cleaned the registry I've re-seated the cpu and applied new TP I didn't kick it yet I'm sure I tried other things that I can't think of right now. I'll try to respond to any questions as soon as I can. Treat me like a human being and this whole process will happen a lot smoother/quicker. Thank you for your time and effort in advance.

if i have a fm2+ motherboard and my rig has just one ram i.e 2133 mhz and if i want to add another memory i.e 2400 mhz . will they support with each other ? and if they do , will there be performance issue ?

I am building a new pc and was wondering if its worth getting the higher mhz ram. I was originally going with 1600 mhz but then thought as my motherboard can take up to 3300 mhz why not go with a higher hertz. What do you think?

hi guys, i have resently built a new computer, with an intel i5-4690K and i have been using it for about a month now and everything is going smoothly appart from when i check the task maneger one day it said my max speed was 800 Mhz, so i thought that was a bit weird, so i looked it iup on google and people have been saying that it is an idle speed, so i thought i would run a CPU stress test to see it that would make a difference, it didnt.... , so i went in the bios and again it said it was clocked at 800 MHz, so i overclocked it to see if it would make a difference, it then restarted and said it was running at 4.5 GHz, this was good i thought i had fixed it, so i went onto windows and it again said i was using 801 Mhz, so a vast improvement as you can see.... is there a problem with windows or is a probklem with the CPU? if any one can help i would be very greatful. Thanks Shaved Cloaca

Hello everyone, This is my first post here so if this is in the wrong place tell me and I'll move it. To my question- I'm giving a friend my old rig its not terribly outdated. It's from when AMD launched their FX series CPU's and it still runs great, I kept in in great shape and I'm not making him pay for it since I don't need the money. However I kept the RAM for my new build and told my friend he just needed to order some RAM for it and he's good to go. He ordered the RAM but he ordered DDR3 2133 sticks. The board only supports up to 2000 O.C.'d. So my question is will the RAM still work on the board or will he have to return them and get something else? My guess is that the RAM will just automatically run at a lower speed like 1600 or something but I'm not certain. Or will I have to go into the BIOS and set the speed manually? Still waiting on the sticks to arrive so I can install them and find out for sure. Still figured I'd hop on here and see what people say. Let me know guys! Here are some links one for the board and one for the RAM he ordered: Board-http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3907#sp RAM-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231689&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-

Hi every body that are reading this post. im building a "Gaming" pc and I want to use for editing videos too but right now I don't know what memory ram is better for me. i acepts advice about my components list too. My Components Motherboard: MSI Computer ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97-GAMING 9 ACK Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz) HDD: WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache Power Supply : Cooler Master V750 - Compact 750W 80 PLUS Gold Modular PSU (SLI/CrossFire Ready) Graphics Card: MSI Graphics Card R9 290X LIGHTNING Case: NZXT Phantom 410 Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Case - Red SSD: Intel 520 Series Solid-State Drive 120 GB SATA 6 Gb/s 2.5-Inch Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H100i And so i was thinking in G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 Mhz i like too: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin SDRAM DDR3 1866 Mhz I would like know witch one is better for gaming because latency and mhz are different in order of what you want, i want nice gaming experience, stable system and nice performance. I hope you can help me, thanks you.

hi, can I buy x4 single kits and it will work on mobo ? or should I save and buy x4 kit ? QVL shows no support for single kit but shows support only for x2 and x4 kits ? is there a firmware or pcb version difference ? I ask because on my current mobo I tried upgrading with different kits and the mobo didn't turn on the kit was corsair xms 1333mhz 5,12 and tried to upgrade with another xms 1333 same cl and all but different version maybe 2.12 or 8.12 so I had to return it and am using 4gb U.C 1104mhz

Hello everyone So I'm searching for a gaming PC, and I found one, but I don't know if it's good or just unbalanced : 2400 MHz RAM seems high for me, I don't know the case, and because it's got an i7 4790K, I don't want to deal with thermal throttle Here's the link : http://www.magicpc.fr/ordinateurs-pc-gamer/35407-PC-Gamer-OC-Maxwell-980.html Thank you PS : I'm french so that's why the page/site is written in french
