Hi, I'm planning to buy a sideboard from ikea (see picture) and I'm concerned about possible connectivity issues with my ps5 due to the sideboard being out of metal mesh. Does anyone have any information about connectivity issues with Bluetooth and WiFi on a ps5 in a metal mesh box? Cheers

I want to make a case for an iPhone out of solid metal. It will be more like an exoskeleton covering the corners that join at the back roughly forming a cross(X). There will be a tpu gasket between the case and the phone. Q1. Is it possible? (I guess it is because there exist some so then my question would be what problems would that cause to communications like NFC, Bluetooth, Phone call, Internet, wifi or hotspot etc. I know metal will affect them but to what degree?) Q2. How much will those problems be mitigated if I use metals that are not so good conductors like titanium or some alloy? Finally Q3: If say it is possible to make one and the problems caused won't significantly affect daily usage to the point where it's noticeable, will it be possible to add wireless charging(specifically Magsafe) through that? Like, say the cross-shaped case(made of titanium) has a circle at the center and that circle houses a circular magnet or whatever that metal is in the iPhone or Magsafe puck? (This is out of genuine curiosity, if I ask or say something absurd please do excuse me) Inspiration: gray phone case

I grew up playing the Twisted Metal games, in recent years the only game Ive been able to play that vaguely resembles it is a game called CrossOut. CrossOut isn't terrible, but even it is extremely dated at this point and even on maxed out settings it easily maxes out the game's engine limitation of 300 FPS, still not utilizing my new GPU at 3440x1440p. Plus its one of those Free To Play games with EXTREMELY slow progression if you don't give into purchasing new vehicles. Ive been playing CrossOut for quite a lot of years and yet I basically haven't progressed whatsoever as far as my build goes for the past few years. Admittedly, I got bored of the lack of progression and stopped playing for a year or two and just decided to jump back on the other day. Still though, the lack of progression is very real - its Like when you get to the higher tiers in World of Warships, only a million times worse and this progression halt happens at like tier 3-4 instead of tier 8-9. Its been fun jumping back on these past few days but its obvious almost nobody plays anymore, every lobby is about 50% bots and 50% players. So, any modern alternatives that anyone knows of?

Ive installed my cpu, ram and cpu cooler into my case but due to an issue with one of my motherboard screws I've ended up almost de-heading the screw of its philips head as it wouldn't budge which has resulted in metal shards being visible on the m.2 heatsink (shield frozr on mag b760 tomahawk wifi ddr5) What's the best way to deal with this situation? I'm going to return the motherboard anyway as its faulty but what about the ram and cpu cooler (deepcool ak620 so 2 fans, 2 radiators(??? Not sure of the definition). I'm concerned that metal could have got into the components. Is it advisable to use a hoover? Thanks,

Here are the ones listed from Apple's doc: AMD Radeon RX 560 AMD Radeon RX 570 AMD Radeon RX 580 AMD Radeon Pro WX 7100 AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100 AMD Radeon Frontier Edition Will they all work fine with Metal? There was a section that specifies a specific model, but I wonder if anything changed in the last decade I'm helping a co-worker due to Teradici (PcoIP) version 20.04 not working on his Mac Pro running on High Sierra.

Hey all, I am trying to get WiFi into a metal outbuilding. The building has windows, and the signal kinda pierces, but the back half of the shed has no signal. The shed is about 50 feet away, and poking a hole in the side of either the house or the shed is not an option. It is a fully insulated space for for staying in for extended periods comfortably. Will a repeater work at a window where the wifi signal has a few bars? Should I go mesh? Or is there a stronger WiFi router I can use? I am using a TP link Archer AX6000.

I heard that the contest is officially not happening, so I just wanted to show what I made for it ROG and LTT Like many obsessed others, as soon as I didn't win ROG Rig reboot 2021, I started planning my 2022 entry. Luckily I was 1 of 4 named honorable mention, which gave me even more drive to enter. The programs that I need and want to learn are pretty strenuous for my computer but I wanted to make art so bad, so I went for it anyway. So I am a metal worker but aspiring metal artist and half way through this year I learned how to use a plasma table, from programing to finished product. The first things that came to my mind to make, was stuff for my entry video. 20221205_155016.mp4 I made an ballin' LTT spinner painted silver and gold with fake diamonds glued to it and the chain is a 4mm thick chrome chain. Also I made another orange logo necklace and 4mm thick polished stainless LTT logo I made a ROG Rig Reboot light box that has the logos of the sponsoring brands. Made out of 24g galvanized metal, 22g perforated metal and some paint. Some other things I made for the video was a command and conquer sign, golden n64 logo, "trust me bro warranty" sign, custom minecraft diamond swords. And a "Starcraft, star wars, starfield" sign. Why did I make these? for fun, to try and set me apart from other people and well I like all that stuff, so now I have it. Then I went from flat signs to 3d sculptures. Now, I didn't make these "for" the video but I wanted them done for the video so I can show why I want a new pc and what ive learned. My life sized metal Austrian sheep dog, GOT Wolf head mount. And my sliced art which is bulbasaur and a storm trooper head. Also a picture of my little set up I was working on Sure some of it is a bit scuffed, but im learning. Everything was built on my break or by going in early. I loved the rig reboot and I used it as a reason to push myself to be better in art and video. Machines are expensive, computers are expensive, so is life. (I'm having troubles uploading the pictures in one post, so you'll see them below)

So, after the release of M1 Pro/Max chips and recent benchmarks, Apple suddenly has a lot of raw power to support AAA games. How do you think Vulkan vs Metal competition is going to pan out? With the new chips, Apple got rid of their old bottlenecks in gaming which are; poor cooling and throttled Intel chips. Which I think was the main reason Apple was so behind with the game industry With M1 chips there is no heat related throttling and we have an absurd amount of GPU power. https://www.anandtech.com/show/17024/apple-m1-max-performance-review From what I understand, from now on, the only bottleneck in letting AAA title game devs adopting MacOS, is Apple itself. What do you think?

Hello, I want to put my PS4 on a metal filing cabinet like this: I am wondering if this is a safe thing to do, as the filing cabinet isn’t as sturdy / more prone to vibration than wood. Thanks.

I have some sort of weird skin thing where holding a plastic mouse has been causing pain for my thumb pointer finger and the palm of my hand I would really love to get a metal mouse and possibly keyboard... Price really isn't an issue as long as it ships to New York. I use the Logitech m570 and Elecom ex-6 m-xt3urbk Which are both trackball mice yes I prefer a trackball but at this point I don't have a choice. I was looking at the teamwolf immortal aluminum and stainless steel structure mouse but any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Carbon fiber might also be an option Edit: if anyone else has had problems with their skin while using computer mice please let me know my doctor is baffled.

I'm trying to develop a Swift menu bar app that switches between the iGPU and the dGPU of a MacBook Pro. I've got the menu bar part right, but can't get the GPU switching working. I tried to have a look at some examples and compare code. I tried to use: let defaultDevice = MTLCreateSystemDefaultDevice() but it doesn't seem to do anything. All I want is for the dGPU to activate when I select the dGPU option in the menu, and for it to deactivate when I select the iGPU option. I understand that there is already an app to do this but it is quite old, forces the one GPU or the other (instead of simply requesting it), and I would prefer to do it myself in a leaner package. Any help will be appreciated.

Hey, so It's pretty straight-forward. I want to compose music (different styles of Metal to be more exact) and I'm looking for the best program for the job. I own no instruments, so I need it to have some sort of a library (or it could be a downloadable library or sth of that sort) with different kinda of instruments and different settings for them. Can anyone recommend me something? Thanks in advance! Free > Paid, however you can suggest paid options as well. P.S. Quality / realism is appreciated, my pc can handle it.

The thermals on this card have been out of control recently, hitting 99 degrees in csgo consistently without any oc. So I took it apart to apply some liquid metal and I noticed it's silver. I don't want to destroy an aluminum heat plate with liquid metal but it's the only thermal paste I have on me atm. One random guy on the internet said it's nickel plated copper but there's no official information I can find on this topic from msi or written reviews. Please help.

Hello! Some time ago I purchased a Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut liquid metal, don't ask why... Now I had the idea of putting it into my MacBook Pro from 2017. Is that even possible and if so, is it dangerous? Because I have heard that liquid metal doesn't like some materials... Do you think it is worth it? Thanks a lot! Michael

Hello, where can I get one open "case" like those that you use on your videos for testing various components, like the one one the video below. https://youtu.be/M3bezYerYxQ?t=130 Thank you!

This might be wishful thinking but i have a block of aluminium and was wanting to get it cut to the rough shape of a ps4 controller. Anyone know if its possible to do it though machining? Drawing1.pdf Drawing2.pdf Drawing3.pdf

Hi. I want to apply the conductonaut LM to my laptop CPU and GPU. I am curious of how thermal pad can be used to protect from LM leakage instead of electrical tape. Futhermore, electrical tape tends to insulate heat. So, will thermal pad do any different? Can I even do that? Sorry if it doesnt make sense. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm trying to find a nice cheap affordable laptop, mainly for common class work (Eg, google drive / google docs, slides ex) I'm not realy looking to spend anything much over $100 - $150 USD an im not wanting a laptop with chrome os I wouldn't need a lot of storage as i picked up 5 - 6 of the "back to school" Walmart 32 gig 2.0 usb flash drives. The essential's would be long lasting battery life, durability, Win10 / Win 7 I currently have a alien-ware Mx14 laptop, having a core i7, with 16 gigs of ddr3 ram, its only bottle neck's being 1.) GPU 2.) battery life 3.) Weight while the laptop itself is only 14-inch display, its still nearly 2 - 3 pounds. And overall i just don't feel safe caring it around in school. (although there is the plus of being able to play fortnite in class lmao wich i had) the realy only thing iv'e come across so far was this cheap laptop costing around $126.79 USD and overall it had some bad review's on amazon and seemed to sketch. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0167W1VAM/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0167W1VAM&linkCode=as2&tag=austevan-20&linkId=KD57XAUCFVO5O4IV&th=1 I don't realy have much a flexible budget with a cap being $175 usd so any help would be welcomed, thanks

I have been thinking of upgrading my Clevo p870's cooling powers with a nice and cozy Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. The two GTX 1080s and i7 6700k would benefit from the chill out time. The CPU is pretty normal, gets up in the 80s, but nowhere near the limit of 95, however, the GPUs get to 91 and stay there while under real stress (gaming and rendering mostly). The problem comes from the safety department: It says it should not operate under 10 Celsius, however, I happen to live in a country where winters tend to get to -15 or even -20 (in the area where I live) and I do carry my computer around in a backpack. Obviously I don't intend on running it in the snow, but due to how courses work, I won't always be able to wait 10-20+ minutes for temperatures to normalize, so do you think it would be able to support that, or should I just pick another product, like Coollaboratory Liquid Pro and Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut? Yes, I am talking about both on the outer side of CPU IHS and on the die itself and also on the GPU dies. Also, how well would the liquid metal solutions work in the context of being in a backpack, so a lot of movement on all axis? Technically speaking, I understand tha the safest bet is Kryonaut, but if I could get better results, I would like to be well aware of them. Thank you, community!

I've run into some issues after installing liquid metal on my Asus g752 (both CPU and GPU). I used conformal coating over a electrical tape method and replaced some of the thermal pads while I was in there. I used a thin (almost too thin imo) layer of LM on both CPU and GPU. Temps look decent with around a 7-8c drop on the CPU and an actual increase on GPU (62c->68c). Issue being, why would my GPU temps go up using LM? I would expect to see at least similar temps if not lower. Then I experienced a couple of off shut offs -no BSOD, just shut off. Was also monitoring temps during shutoff with no stress test being done (youtube watching when shut off occurred) Any thoughts to why the random shut offs now? t

Pretty big news that Apple is moving away from OpenGL API in favour of Metal for all apps. Will have massive implications for gaming on Apple devices and will probably come into effect in around two years: https://developer.apple.com/macos/whats-new/ https://www.pcgamer.com/developers-fear-for-mac-gaming-as-apple-deprecates-opengl-support/ If you're a game developer not using an off-the-shelf engine like Unity, this will make a massive difference to the workload involved in shipping to Apple devices, and probably mean a great deal for legacy games already on the platform. Edit: I should add, I'm a 3D Artist in a Games Studio, but my no means a Technical Programmer. I'm really just relaying info from the company's Tech Director sitting next to me as we discuss the changes in the office. So, am by no means the best person to speculate on the impact of these changes, but in lieu of another thread existing on the forum, I just thought I should spread the word.
