Hello, I have been reading a lot about mechanical keyboards lately since I'm thinking of buying one in a few months but I'm still not sure which one I should pick. I mainly write code and do some gaming on my spare time, so I'm not sure what switches would be better for me. I don't have anywhere I can go and try them so i'd like to hear from your experience. I work at an office so there are other people near me. Nearest person is like 2 meters away and is constantly on the phone, so that makes me think that the Cherry blues might be a little to noisy. I don't care much for macro keys or backlight (although both features are nice). My second concern (after which switches I should use) is which brand is better (build quality and durability). I'm thinking on spending like 150 dollars if I can, but I can stretch it a little more if needed Also... I'm only looking for keyboards sold preferably on amazon, it is a pain buying from other places since I don't live in the US (things get delivered to an aunt that lives there and I go and pick them when I can ) The ones I have looked at and I liked are these: Corsair Vengeance K70 Das Keyboard Model S Das Keyboard 4 Razer Blackwidow ultimate 2014 So... what do you guys recommend? Thanks in advance. And sorry if I write weird, English is not my main language.

I've settled on a keyboard which looks just right for what I need, however I'm facing a few issues moving forwards: Living in the UK sourcing a distributor for the board itself is difficult, there seems to be some on Amazon here (blues) & here (browns). Does anyone know of anywhere else? Most importantly concerning custom key caps for this thing; I'm specifically after translucent (to take advantage of the back lighting) or at worst blank blacks (I don't need or want engraved caps). I can't find anywhere in the UK and struggled to find anywhere elsewhere for that matter offering these specific type of caps. This was further compounded by the fact the keys on this board seem to be non standard? There seems to be this but it's not compatible and these guys who I have already sent an email off to. Any more ideas? I find it hard to believe that in this day and age it's so difficult to achieve this kind of thing. Moreover the 75% boards seem to be quite rare and difficult to obtain themselves (relative to a given location).

Hey I have never had a mechanical keyboard and I am currently looking at a few. Those being the Razer Blackwidow and the Corsair K70. I am edging towards the Razer Blackwidow just because i have green LEDs' in my PC, a razer naga and krakens. I think it would be cool to stick with the green theme but I think it may be a bad choice because of the non cherry mx keys. I also would like the keys to be Cherry mx blue's or something equivalent like the razer switches. Any good recommendations? thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a relatively cheap cherry mx blue mechanical keyboard. No lights, no media keys, no added goodies. As basic as it gets really. I want this as a travel-friendly keyboard so hopefully tenkeyless and blue switches, definitely under $100. I'm considering: - CM Quickfire TKL ($80) - Ducky Zero TKL ($85) - Monoprice 109433 ($80) Maybe you have other suggestions? Has to be from amazon or some page that takes international cards through PayPal though. I could consider browns, but only if the price or availability was a huge difference. Linear switches are out. Thanks!

I was about to buy a tenkeyless keyboard while saving money for the Corsair RGB but decided that I'd be using the tenkeyless much more anyways so I'll just increase my budget for a TKL. Currently looking at a 130-150 range. What I need: tenkeyless layout (80%) mechanical tactile switches very solid construction (will carry it around with me) What I want: cherry mx blue white backlight I was hoping I could get a Ducky Shine 3 TKL but they're all out in mechanicalkeyboards.com and ncix. NCIX's website says they're "Usually available in 2-5 days" but was wondering if anyone's been checking in on this recently to know if I should expect them to restock any time soon? Any other suggestions are welcome.

Hello, I've been searching for mecheanical keyboard since 4 month but I still don't know what to buy . I love Blue Switches and I'm on wether I should get a Ducky Shine 3 or a Corsair K70. Here why: Points for the Ducky: - Extremely well built (some people say it work for DECADES) - Nice Lighting - Choice of backlight Point for the K70: - Wrist rest - Usb pass true - Media Key So, What would you choice??? Did you have other key board that might be a better choice? Let's ear about it!

I was recently watching the new Ducky Shine 3 Mechanical Unboxing and review and thought the lights show and settings were really neat. I thought it was probably about time I got a new keyboard and mouse since I recently just upgraded my computer. I came across the Roccat Kone XTD and the ROCCAT™ Ryos MK Pro and instantly fell in love with it, it had everything I was looking for. Macro keys, Cherry Browns (First mechanical keyboard), light shows and the rest. After my hype about it fell down though, I saw in the screen shots that the layout was different to the keyboards I'm used to. I was wondering if there are any mechanical keyboards out there with the same features but with the ANSI layout? Available to ship/post or whatever to Australia. If there aren't should I just keep my current keyboard and wait for the next technology expo or whatever? I'm pretty patient so if it's in a few months I could wait for it. In advance, Thanks! Edit: I was also wondering what the average lifespan of mechanical keyboards are? The price doesn't matter too much either if it has what I want.

For my first post on the LTT community, I would like to ask which mechanical keyboard I should spend my hard earnt on. I game most of the time, if that influences decisions. I have been hesitant to change keyboards as my G510 has a display, tons of macros and nice media controls, and not many mechanical keyboards have these features. I've been looking at the Corsair K70, seems pretty decent and Linus gave a solid review. Any ideas?

I live in EU and I would really like to purchase a Ducky. However, I have no idea where I can purchase one. I think it would be recommended to buy from either an EU based website (no taxes) or a Chinese one (they usually don't send the receipts in the package).

So after years of thinking about buying a mechanical keyboard, I had finally purchased a keyboard that I thought would be the one that would last me for years, was of supreme quality, and matched my needs. Well, I have only had the Corsair Vengeance K70 gunmetal grey mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches (in UK layout) for little over a month (mid November 2013) and the keyboard LEDs are breaking already! I now have 9 of the LEDs gone dim! I have barely used this keyboard! Here are some images of my Corsair K70 keyboard. Keys that have gone dim are the following: 8, Home, /, S, G, |, Alt Gr, Ctrl, and . Has anyone else had this issue? Have I missed something and can it be reset or fixed somehow? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as I don't want to have to send it back. Many thanks, ToKo1188

I love LED backlit keyboards and I was considering getting a second one some time next year. Would you guys recommend waiting for the new Corsair partnership with Cherry rgb switches? Or do you think the price difference will be over $100? As much as I'd love a keyboard where every key can be any color, $300 for a keyboard is kind of hard for me to justify to myself. Also, how does the Ducky software compare to the one with Corsair keyboards?

So, I have this keyboard: But the media keys are acting up, randomly activating on their own, spazzing out and canceling media players and stuff. So I think maybe I should return it, I'm just too lazy and the problem goes away if I unplug it and reconnect it. But in case they give me moneyback, or I can order something different, I'm thinking I might as well try out a mechanical keyboard. The problem is they are bloody expensive! I mean, this one was pretty steep for me for ~$70, I could go an other $30 on a good day. So I must ask the LTT community for their expertise. Can you find me a mechanical keyboard that is under $100 and has a green backlight?

I'm currently using a CM Storm trigger with cherry MX blues at home for gaming, but I need something I can take to school with me. I'm sick of typing on awful membrane keyboards that we have there. I have a few ideas but here's my prerequisites. Exclusively for typing long periods of time, barely any gaming whatsoever. I'll use my CM Storm Trigger for that. Nothing flashy, it's for school and professional use. Quiet(ish), tactile response. Probably going to be going with MX browns if I get a board with cherry switches. Tenkeyless, I need it to fit in my backpack. If not tenkeyless, It would need to still be under 16 inches or so. Nothing 60% as I hate the tiny space bars. Removable cord preferably, but not necessary. Needs to last practically forever. PBT Keycaps would be fantastic, but I can't seem to find ANYTHING in stock anywhere. For now, let's say that pricing is out of the question. I'm realistically trying to stay under $200 but I might go over that if it's really worth it. I know it's a rather tight list of requirements, but if I'm going to be spending this much on a board that I'll be using at least 4 days a week for the next few years (and even more after that once I get a job in the field) I want it to be exactly what I need. So I was looking at a few boards, and I'm looking for some advice from people with more experience in keyboards than I, and some opinions on possible alternatives. 1. Topre realforce 87u. I like the PBT caps, but I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about the Topre switches. From what I understand it's like a hybrid brown/membrane switch, if you will. I really hate the feel of membrane keys, but it's the lack of tactile feedback from them that I dislike. I've never typed on a Topre but I just continuously hear amazing things about them. I tend to bottom out my keys anyhow out of gaming habits (although I'm trying to stop doing so, I hate the sound of the plastic hitting the board) so I feel as if I would like the Topre. The only downside is while I'm not looking looking for something flashy, this thing is just unbelievably ugly. I can get over this though if the experience is really worth it. The price is a bit much, but I may be able to get over that too. 2. Ducky Shine 3 TKL. What I really want is the Ducky Pro TKL with PBT caps in all white. Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere in the world not sold out. If anybody can tell me otherwise, PLEASE let me know. I'll pay a premium for this board. It has all the features I want and I LOVE the aesthetic. The Shine 3 TKL is my alternative that I was considering. It has the majority of the features I want, albeit a lack of PBT caps. I was considering one in white LEDs as that's not too flashy, and they can be turned off when needed. I've heard both extremely good and extremely bad things about ducky though. Hopefully somebody can back up either side. 3. Filco Ninja Majestouch 2. I've heard nothing but magnificent things about Filco and their boards. From what I've read and people have told me, Filco boards are some of the best in the world. I really like the aesthetic of the front printed keycaps, but the only downside is the only place I can find this currently is Amazon and while i'd happily pay $160 for it, I don't want to pay the $70 of shipping that also comes with it. As of right now my choice is the Ducky Shine 3 TKL, mainly because of the price and availability. I don't want to just "settle" for something if I can help it. I know I'll be happy with the shine 3, but I feel as if there is a better option out there, as I feel as if I'm compromising on a few things I really desire. Any advice or feedback on any of the aforementioned boards would be greatly appreciated, as would assistance as to where I could purchase any of the above. Especially that ducky pro with PBT in browns. It just looks so gorgeous Keep in mind I am in the USA for pricing and shipping.

Hello:) Recently I was at my desk drinking a glass of coca cola then I went to type on my keyboard then I split my coke. That keyboard now doesn't seem to work properly, which is no surprise. I may be able to fix it but probably not. That keyboard is a Gigabyte K8100. Now, I'm using my first keyboard! It is about 6-7 years old and it is not very pleasant to type on. So, I'm now looking for a mechanical keyboard, because apparently they're good. So, because I am incredibly OCD, I'd like to have a Corsair keyboard to match my Corsair mouse, and I've found the Corsair K70, which looks pretty badass. So I saw how much it is in dollars, which is $129 - $149 depending on the layout. I pop that into google and that is £90, well, it should be. I then went onto Amazon and it is £120. Am I being stupid? Should it be that price for the keyboard? Anyway, I'm here to ask a question, What is the best value for money mechanical keyboard on the market right now? I'd quite like a small form-factor keyboard, one without the numbers pad because i don't use it, but it would have to have LED backlights. My budget is between £70 and £100. Thanks Jem

So, I'll be getting mechanical keyboard quite soon. As of now I'm going for the Corsair k60, mostly because I prefer the aesthetics over the Ducky Shine Zero and CM Storm keyboards. It's also Cherry MX red which is what I'm going for. Is the ducky or CM noticably better than the Corsair, or can I have my beautiful corsair aesthetics? (if the ducky or CM storm keyboards are better, I'm still happy to go with them as the aesthetics are still nice.) Budget is $130 AUD. Buying from here; mechkb.com

hey guys In regards to mechanical keyboards, i cant decide between the k70 or the k95. The k95 is £15.00 more expensive, from what ive gathered the increase in the price is only warranted by the macro keys? What keyboard would you recommend and why? thanks in advance

This post will be in direct reference to the video about the video Linus recently posted on Youtube of the Cooler Master Storm Quickfire TK keyboard. If you have yet to see this video you can check it out here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=st3dCj9gkrE My situation is that I was on a hunt for that keyboard for the longest time, it all started when I was watching CES 2012 and there had been a small showing in the CM booth of the bright keyboard, I'd never seen on brighter, it had the green lights I swear ever existed. The video also included that it had the famously unheard of Cherry MX switch in the color green. I knew instantly that is the keyboard that I want, it has those wonderful green lights to go with my system, it had heavier switches with Tactile Feedback and that oh so musical *clicky click clack* sound. The reason I knew that I wanted that sound and feel of heavier switches was because my best friend has the same model of keyboard from CM as well, except he has the blue with Cherry MX blue switches. My opinion was just that if it had green lights and then heavier switches it would be ideal for me. So I look everywhere across the internet, up, down, far and wide reaching to maybe order a custom Cherry MX green switch keyboard with no keycaps fully custom from Ducky, I would then buy custom keycaps and install the LED switches on my own. Well needless to say that would have been very expensive and I am still glad I hadn't gone that far. What I ended up settling on was the Cooler Master Storm Quickfire XT that had no LED backlights but offered those green switches. It was the only one that offered a full Cherry MX green switch layout that I could find, they had one other model that offered it but it had been quickly discontinued and other than the Ducky Idea there was nowhere to be found the keyboard I wanted, except in that video that they showed at CES with the magical keyboard that seemed was only to tease me for the rest of my life. So here I am, with this long, probably hard to read post, thinking about buying that keyboard. We'll see. Also, my keyboard when I bought it was not available (though now it is) on NewEgg, Amazon, or any websites other than ordering it from CoolerMaster themselves where I paid 125 dollars for it. So, it's a tough bargain.

I'm currently using the Razer blackwidow 2010 edition, the one that is glossy and has no back-lighting. Got it in 2010 duh.. and it has been awesome.. But I'm just wondering if I should get a new mech keyboard? the one i'm looking at is the Corsair K70. Is it worth the upgrade? i play games like Dota2, BF4 etc. And honestly i don't really use the mac keys on it, so the K70 is ok for me. What do you guys think? Is it worth the money to go for an upgrade? or the marginal difference is not worth the money and that i should wait for a few more years?
