I have a server i'm building that's has an OEM power supply without a six pin power connector for the graphics card I'd like to use. I already burned one power supply out by just plugging it into the card and bridging the green power cable, my card might be fried. So, do I need to add a common ground? Why didn't it work? Is my card destroyed? HELP? I have a dell poweredge r410 based build. Two Xeons, and only one of which was detected in the task manager however, another problem i'll need to solve.

Hey Guy's and Gal's, So I am building my first AMD Gaming computer, I have build Intel computer's before, most of them were frankensteins and restorations. I have a small Clue of what I am doing but not that much. My parts list is as follows: Motherboard: Biostar TA970 Ver. 5-3, CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5 GHz CPU Cooler: CORSAIR Hydro Series H55 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler 120mm RAM: Team Vulcan 16gb (2x8gb) PSU: CORSAIR RMx RM750X 750W Boot Drive: Corsair Force LS 2.5 SSD Storage Drive: Seagate 1TB HHD Case: Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus My Questions are; What graphics cards should I be looking at? GTX 1070? Radeon 480? Or should I look at something else? I've always used hand me down parts so looking for new equipment is very unnerving because I have no clue what I am doing to be honest. My microphone picks up sound fine but say when i am in a call with someone on Skype etc they will hear what ever sound my headset is giving out say i'm playing a game they hear that and themselves talking so i don't know a lot on this nor, do i know what information i need to provide. p.s. i thought it was the headset so i bought a new one didn't change a thing. Not really sure on this any help or suggestions is really helpful this has been such a issue for a while and i don't know how to fix this so thanks in advance

I bought a Phanteks Enthoo Pro and am happy with it but the fan controller gives me headaches. After plugging the cpu fan plug into MOBO, it works but the fan speeds seem very high but I also notices that the 4 pin connector on the controller is empty. I tried plugging the MOBO connector into that one and it didnt work... What should I do?

Hey guys! I just bought the LEPA LPWAC240-HF AquaChanger 240 Liquid CPU Cooler 240mm and installed it. Coming into this new world of water cooling i though i was going to get super duper low temps. But what do you know, i get 102 degrees on my first core and 82 on my second core. I'm pretty sure i installed it correctly, I double checked everything, changed the positions of the fans (they're sucking air in), and re-applied the thermal paste. Although it dropped to about 95-97 and 80-85, it still wasn't the results I was looking for. I looked on other fourms and saw that since i bought it today, the cooler needed time to settle letting out all the air bubbles and everything. I don't know if this is the case of not, but if you guys could help me out by leaving some suggestions that'd be great! BTW: i got this cooler from fry's for 63$! Was a steal imo. Thanks guys!

So, I need a laptop with a decent card in, and I'm struggling for choice. At first I wanted the Razer Blade, but I can't find the 2015 model ANYWHERE brand new in the UK. Then I tried for aorus but I really want a 970M in the laptop and they were like 2k from aorus. At the moment I seem to be straying towards the 14" MSI GS40 6QE as it seems to be a really good system. However there's only 1 review I can see on it and the guy complained about a dead pixel within the first month and his tab button felt really poor done. I know they're such trivial things but this amount on a laptop, really don't want anything to be wrong with it haha. Reason I'm going for a laptop is simply portability, I have a decent system now PC wise but with me travelling to my girlfriends on a weekend and for University as I do Games Dev so would be nice to be able to work when I'm out and about, and game of course. after about 20Mins my PC will turn off randomly after the time frame as if someone had cut the power to the PC, i have no idea why this is happening but i recently installed a R9 390. if it helps i have a 650W power supply

So i basically went over to an american site and landed on some site called "Newegg" and where i basically just went for the highest specs available for that laptop, which are even better specs than the one that's sold on the norwegian sites. So i was like "Ya okay, so basically, i guess this thing is going to cost like 10k more than the one i'm looking at, and the fact is that Norway sucks and we just don't have the godlike version of this laptop yet *proceeds to convert the usd into nok* *Boom. Exact same price as the shittier version sold on the norwegian website* So ya, i'm like "whuuuut", and i start digging around for the godlike version, and quite frankly, not giving a fuck if i need to spend 10k more or whatever just because this machine's got me fucking hooked, but nah, can't find it in any norwegian websites anywhere, they all list the GPU's as mobile GPU. So ya, i don't know if that's a mistake from the norwegian retailers or someshit, was planning on calling them when those lazy fuckers open their phone lines, but i figured i'd try to get some answers from you guys, if it were possible So you know like...which one is the sickest? Probably the MSI one, but does it justify the price differencial? It probably doesn't when you get the price tag as high as this, then you know, there's rarely anything that justifies price differential, but i'm willing to burn a couple of extra hundred bucks if it means i'm getting a sick laptop that i won't need to think twice with before turning my graphics up to ultra, while watching japanese tentacle porn, while making music, while video editing, while eating bagels and while lightly scratching my balls. Hey guys, I recently built my gaming PC about 3-4 months ago, and I realized I was getting less performance than I expected. From further research, I realized my CPU and GPU aren't that great. I am planning to upgrade to an R9 390, but I am stuck because I am wondering if my CPU will bottleneck my GPU(I play battlefield 4 a lot, and I get 40 frames on ultra on multiplayer with a decent amount of things going on)? If my CPU is a sad, square piece of crap painted grey with yellow pins, these are my options: * Buying a decent cooler and overclocking my CPU * Upgrading my 960 an R9 390(the original plan) * Upgrading my CPU to an 8350 NOTE: This is my very last resort, because I don't want to spend the extra money, as I don't have a job. Hello, My computer has been very up and down lately with multiple issues, recently I wiped my SSD and reinstalled windows 7 (64bit) and have experienced some weird encounters whilst running my computer. I haven't even passed the stage of even installing all of my drivers without the computer freezing, this problem doesn't go away after leaving it frozen and waiting to for it to unfreeze you actually have to hold the power button and restart. I have had some friends tell me it may be a problem with memory but I want some further assistance before making any unnecessary purchase. Thank you

Hi everyone, I've got this gaming build planned out, and I'm gonna build it at the start of December. However, I also wanted to explore my options using the Skylake/Z170 platform. I know that the platform comes with a tonne of advantages, but I'm not sure I can make the equivalent build listed below with the new stuff WITHOUT going over my budget of $3000 AUD. My local parts dealer (IT Warehouse, Adelaide) was not helpful at all when it came to picking similar parts, as the sales assistant from Hell I was stuck with seemed to know very little about computer parts (less than I do, which is saying something) and couldn't seem to spell my name correctly even once, EVEN THOUGH IT'S IN THE DAMN EMAIL. So should I stick with the cheaper 4th gen platform and upgrade to Skylake in a few years, or should I manage my budget, change the graphics card ( ) and the case ( ), and go for Skylake gold now? Okay, The problem is my PC, I don't know what's wrong about it, i just know it's wrong, and it's making me really mad. The problem started after i upgraded the system [3 months ago], The system specs are: - CPU: AMD FX-9590 Octo-Core 4.0Ghz - CPU COOLER: Corsair H60 - GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 SC - MOTHERBOARD: ASUS M5 A97 R2.0 - RAM: 8GB DDR4 - HDD: 1TB - Power: 1500w - Windows: 10 The problem i have is my PC will crash, But not like a bluescreen or file dump, But the whole screen freezes, Mouse and keyboard input no longer works, and all sound cuts out, But the PC remains running - Fans, lights and monitors stay on, So i have no idea what's going on. What i've found is that i can leave my PC on all day, Before i go to school i can turn it on, And i'll come back and it'll be fine, But as soon as i start playing games or doing anything that requires a little more that idle power, [Games, Photoshop, rendering, Opening lots of tabs] it crashes, And now it's really annoying me as i can't do anything, i don't know what's wrong, but i do notice frame drops in games like counter strike, a game that i should get 300+ FPS on, but i go down to numbers below 10 at times, i have no idea what's going on, and i'm worried that one day it wont turn on, and i'm not sure i have the money to buy the parts i want at the moment, so if any one could tell me what's wrong, Or what i can do to find out, that would be great, It's getting REALLY annoying.
