Hey all, just going to do a small quick build to suit budget. Currently going for: Intel i5 9600KF Coolermaster ML120L CPU cooler ASUS Prime Z390M-Plus Motherboard Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO CMW32GX4M2A2666C16 32GB 2666MHz DDR4 (2x16) *Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Founders *Corsair 650W RM650 Gold Power Supply *ASUS PCE-AC68 802.11ac Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 PCI-E Adapter *Fractal Design Node 804 Black Micro ATX Case *Storage = Sorted (* = already owned) My questions are: Am i better off going i7 for this build? Is there really a huge difference from 9600KF to i7 9700? Is the 3200 MHz ram better suited to optimize the cpu? Open to suggestions for improvement. Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone, Hope you all are doing well, stay healthy. Cut to the chase, im doing a low budget build for a friend who really does no gaming at all, he only wants to be able to listen to music, do his paperwork, watch movies, youtube, netflix, that stuff The only thing he send me to begin with was the case bc he likes the small form factor. What i now aimed for should meet his demands atleast for the next 5 years or so or atleast thats what i would expect. Im no expert but i have some atleast more than ten builds for myself and friends but maybe you have some General input/critique and i have a few smaller questions: Anyway, thx for reading to this point now Here come the parts: CPU: AMD R3 3200G https://www.amd.com/de/products/apu/amd-ryzen-3-3200g PSU: bequiet SFX Power 2 300W https://www.bequiet.com/de/powersupply/494 Mobo: Some b350 or b450 mobo with m-ATX or ITX formfactor ( example from ASRock) : https://www.amazon.de/ASRock-m-ATX-D-Sub-HDMI-Retail/dp/B07FVYKFXF/ref=mp_s_a_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=b450+mainboard+micro+atx+mini+itx&qid=1587290458&sr=8-17 Memory: Single Kit 8 GB DDR4 at 2400 Mhz https://www.amazon.de/Crucial-CT8G4DFS824A-Speicher-PC4-19200-288-Pin/dp/B01BIWK9OK/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=8%2Bgb%2Bddr4%2Bram%2Bsingle%2Bkit&qid=1587290568&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1 Case: Tacens Orum 3 http://www.tacens.es/cases/mini-towers/orum-iii/ Questions: Does anyone have particularly good experience with certain B350/B450 Mobos in the m-ATX/ITX section you'd recommend? Bc rn im just looking for a good mobo that fits the case and unlocks oc to maybe get some more juice out of the build when it gets older We all know Ryzen likes fast RAM clocks. I went for a 2400 Mhz stick bc as said my friend is far from a heavy user, slower clocks means cheaper ram and i dont think with his workload it will make a difference. What do you think? Or maybe you even suggest going blue and use the integrated graphics? ( OS not mentioned bc my friend used linux ubuntu for some time now on his current old pc and he likes it and If he decides otherwise you can buy legal oem win10 licenses for 5 bucks here in germany bc of law stuff ) Anyway, thx for reading my ramblings, have a good day

Budget (including currency): Already have most parts, just going to buy what's needed Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Plex (multiple 1080p streams, no 4k) + 1440p 140hz gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Yes it's a very weird build. Current plex Build: Current gaming build: (yes I know 980 TI isn't much for 1440p, planning on upgrading to 2070S after 3000 series launch) So the current plan is to get these two builds into a Phanteks Enthoo Mini XL with a Revolt X power supply powering both. I've got quite a few questions which I hope others can help me clear up. Do network switch expansion cards exist? I mean like the simple $30 switches just for getting 1 ethernet wire in, and another out to the second system. I would really hate to have one system on wifi; and I'm not sure if having a small switch just outside the case or in the rat's nest is any better. Storage fiasco. I don't really know anything about RAID and whatnot, I simply plug HDDs into SATA ports and fill them up. I figure when I get more storage down the line I'll look into it--would that require deleting everything I had amassed up to that point? Storage fiasco 2. Are SATA port expansion cards reliable? And I think I've seen you need to buy special, much more expensive ones in order to do RAID set-ups with them, no? Asking because I'm expecting to turn the plex build into the mITX system, but it seems to me like most mITX motherboards are limited to 4xSATA ports. I'm expecting to have a single SSD and another 4-6 HDDs for the plex side of things. Thoughts on turning gaming system into the mITX side instead? I don't expect I'll have anything other than the GPU to plug into pcie ports and I don't think I'll be generating too much heat in the system to choke mITX area. Thoughts on turning plex side into cheap AM4 alternative? I already need to buy a new motherboard, but I think I could probably get $200 for mobo/cpu/ram in current plex system, with which I could get close to making an AM4 build. It would probably have to be a 3000G though, if I got lucky on sale perhaps a 3100 would fit in budget (maybe a 1600 AF would be better? not sure what to look for in cpu for plex). Do you think doing so would have an improvement (#/quality of 1080p streams)? Plus I've still got the 95W cooler for 3600X which I could slap onto a 3100. Those are the current questions I have. Please feel free to share your input because everyone thinks I'm crazy for doing dual system and I love the ridiculousness of it hahahahahaha

Hey everyone, I saw Linus's video of him upgrading his home theater pc and notice that Cerberus claims to be the world's smallest microATX case- which inspired me to create an account and show off my rare SFF case from the mid 2000's. Here my Vinster M@X: 11.5x5.5x11.5 inches of pure glory I cut out the window on the side of the case myself, normally that isn't there, but its an amazing exhaust hole for my 2060 super. Answering any questions I can,

Budget (including currency): none but not too expensive Country: Philippines Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: all in one 70%gaming, 30% work Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently have the following parts Ram: Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 3200mhz SSD: 500gb Samsung 970 evo plus Chasis: Corsair Crystal 280x non rgb (bought cheap, second hand) since the case is black, I will repaint it with white. here are my other preferred parts for my semi white themed rig. processor: Amd ryzen 5 3600 motherboard: ? (Prefer white/black) b4550 or b550 only GPU: Any white/black RTX 2060 super AIO: NZXT kraken x62 Psu: ? will buy ll120 fans from corsair and attached it to rad and top of the case any other suggestions or reaction with this? **Update 15 Oct 2020 Current specs: - Ryzen 3600 with CTR @ 4.1GHz 1.25V - Maxsun RTX 2070 Super Jetstream (Same as Palit Super JS) - MSI B550M MORTAR -32GB (2x16GB) Trident Z RGB 3466MHz CL16 - Silverstone SX650-G with custom sleeved custom length cables - Coolerman 92mm Dual Tower 6 Heatpipe Cooler - Noctua NF-B9 Fans - Scythe Kaze Flex 1212 Slim Fans - Metalfish S5 Casing Planned Upgrade: - Thermalright Silver Arrow 130 - Arctic P12 PWM ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi there, I've been wanting to make a very small MATX build for a long time but the price of the Kimera Cerberus+ shipping to Asia has put me off for years because I'm still a university student. But when I watched Linus make that video upgrading his living room PC with my dream case I once again scoured the internet for an alternative MATX case that is just as small or even smaller than the Cerberus. Hence, I just wanna share a dream build I've wanted to do for years and an awesome, and possibly the smallest MATX case I found off Taobao for around USD60 measuring at only 13.5L It can house a full-sized MATX motherboard as well as supporting even oversized graphics cards like my RTX 2070 Super Jetstream. (My favourite carbonated drink can for scale) My Specs: -Ryzen 5 3600 -Maxsun RTX 2070 Super Jetstream (It's an RTX 2070 Super, Palit is their OEM) -16GB Corsair LPX 3000MHz CL15 -MSI B450M Mortar Max -Cryorig M9a Cooler -Silverstone SX650-G with custom sleeved modular cables -Noctua Redux NF-B9 fans -ID-Cooling NO-12015 120mm slim fans -Metalfish S5 Casing My Setup: -Acer XV272U P 27' Monitor -AOC q2963pm 29' Ultrawide Monitor -Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro M with doubleshot PBT keycaps -Logitech G403 Lightspeed Wireless -Razer Goliathus WoT Limited Edition (Used it since 2015, still love it till this day ) -Klipsch Promedia 2.1 Speakers -MassdropxHifiman HE350 Headphones -Finally wanna feature my old and broken dBrand-ed HTC 10 as a webcam and microphone Temperatures: I have the airflow configuration at bottom and rear intake with top-front exhaust near the PSU area. CPU - 70-80 degrees under load @ stock settings GPU - 75-80 degrees under load @ 139% power limits and 80 degrees target temp *CPU turbos up to 4.2GHz when single core load and 3.7-3.8GHz when using more than 2-ish cores. Some quirks to know when building with this case is that if you use normal 25mm thick 120mm fans at the bottom, you will be blocking the entire bottom PCIE slot, even by using slim 15mm thick fans you will be blocking around half of the slot. So no fancy quad 16x NVME expansion card with a heatsink, not even soundcards with tall capacitors; only Wifi adaptors, Ethernet/USB expansion cards etc. Another thing is that if you use full-sized MATX boards like mine, high chance the internal USB header will be blocked by the bottom fans due to the robust USB3.0 cable, so a right angled internal USB header adaptor may be required. And pelase only install the cooler after you've screwed the motherboard in to save yourself from frustration, but do install the cooler backplate first as only the front and left side panel comes off. I plan to order another kit of 16GB Corsair LPX Whites, totaling it to 32GB. Also plan to try out this cool little dual tower 92mm cooler I found off Taobao as well to hopefully improve the CPU temps. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.57.3e39165fT3a2I5&id=610348890581&ns=1&abbucket=14#detail Link to the Metalfish S5 PC case: https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.3.63d02dd8v9Z2QF&id=611316826534&ns=1&abbucket=14

Hi everyone! I've been planning a new build an have everything down except the case. I'm going to be living in a pretty small space so I want this to be quite compact, but without compromising too much on compatibility and options, which is why I don't think I want to go ITX. What are the most space efficient matx cases under like $100 US? I've been looking at cube cases like the Node 804 or Core V21, or maybe a tower like the H510? Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks guys!

So I have an ASRock X570M Pro4 motherboard. Truth be told, I only bought it because it was available as an open-box return item at Microcenter for a steep discount. I planned on getting the much cheaper B450M Pro4. Anyway, there is a tiny little fan directly over the chipset, attached to the "m.2 armor" This fan sucks. It sounds awful. I've taken it apart and tried to see if there's something obvious causing it to sound extra bad but it looks to just be a really cheap little awful fan. What can I do about it? Could I get away with just removing it? >_> Or, probably a better idea, replace it with a better fan? I could take it apart and get a photo of what it looks like with the 'armor' plate taken off if that would help.

I just recently upgraded my setup from i5 6600k to a Ryzen 7 3800x and Asrock X570M pro4 and cannot stop having stability issues no matter what is done. my setup is: ASUS GTX 1080, Samsung SSD 850 Evo 250gb (operating system), seagate barracuda 1TB harddrive(game library), corsair 850watt 80 PLUS Bronze power supply, G.Skill NT series 16GB (2x8GB) 288-pin DDR4 2400mhz, x570m pro4 asrock motherboard and ryzen 7 3800x cooled with a cooler master liquid lite ML240L AIO. Windows 10 64 bit home After putting together i installed windows and updated all drivers with no problems but then randomly after almost a day i notice random crashes. The crashes seem to only happen when I am NOT under any kind of load on the system. I know this because i tried stress testing everything with no crashes at all but once i end the stress test and do something basic like surf the internet or open or close simple software i get crashes. It never crashes in the middle of working on anything or gaming. For example today's case, Turned my computer on from sleep mode and opened up COD MW and played for almost an hour while also watching a twitch stream on a second monitor, fps around 130+ no stuttering and twitch stream ran perfectly and was easily able to switch between the 2. Switched from COD to League of legends and same thing awsome fps and not issues at all. I then shut down the gaming and stream and just go to amazon and i crash. The first crash was page access error then it kept crashing on startup saying Memory_management error until i finally got it to startup again then used it for a while similarly to before and the cycle of crashing began again after doing simple tasks. I notice that 9/10 the crashes are memory management errors. I have tried everything to trouble shoot i have fresh installed windows several times, run memtest86 with no errors 4 passes, i have run windows memory check tools with no errors, stressed test with prime 95 ran cinebench etc. no crashes during any stress tests no errors and no bad scores everything works fine until i lower the load to almost idle and then i usually crash with typically a memory managment error. The only thing i can think of is a memory issue becuase my memory is not on the QVL but im not sure that makes a huge difference and am working to try to get new memory. I have turned on and off XMP and tried to under clock my memory speed and increase voltage and vice versa with no changes to behavior, upgraded my bios and made sure everything important was installed and still ahve crashes. Is my board or CPU DOA, is my memory bad or could it be software related?

Choosing a mATX case for a work/occasional gaming PC
midix posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
I would really appreciate an advice from experienced PC builders who have tried the most popular cases and have something to say about them. The main points of interest for me are overall quality, durability and versatility (how easy it is to swap individual components without disassembling entire system), as I don't change my PCs often. It would be awesome to have a case to survive multiple major upgrades, moving around and on/off button that would last for 5 years. GPU length and CPU cooler height is not an issue, my current GPU is under 260mm and, most probably, I'll be using stock Intel cooler. A DVD drive bay is desired; I still haven't moved all of my movies (heh, pun intended) to a hard drive. I'm building a mid-range work/gaming mATX PC. I don't want it to look too flashy or unusual (no cube designs this time) but I don't want a "boring office box" either. The budget is around 60 EUR; I will buy from shops like Amazon Germany or UK. My current candidates are these: Cooler Master N200 - seems almost classics of the genre, lots of reviews, but the question is - can the other options beat this one? Corsair Carbide Series 88R CC-9011086-WW Corsair Carbide Series Spec-M2 CC-9011087-WW Thermaltake Versa H13 Thermaltake Versa H15 Sharkoon MA-M1000 (this might be less known to people out there, but it seems a good option and I have had positive experience with another budget Sharkoon SharkZone case before - it is solid, can be fully disassembled and has nice customization options, also has dust filters; but I'm not sure if MA-M1000 will have the same quality). What is your experience? Which of the cases in this list are more durable and versatile in general? I'm also open to other options, if only they can be found in major European shops and are within my budget of 60 EUR. -
Where should the intake and exhaust be? I cant find out where the dust filters are also.

Hello! i've been saving up to replace my old workstation with a system using the new amd ryzen 1800x. my previous system was in the massive nzxt phantom 820, and that was great for fitting my massive galax hall of fame cards and could provide enough airflow to feed them, but it's just too big for me now, and i'd like to move to something a lot more compact. i did a client build in a define nano s before and absolutely loved it, but it's still a bit too big for my future plans. here's what i have in mind: main thing is the case. i would like to get one in similar size and, if possible, style to the ncase m1 or inwin 301 (not out yet); extremly compact and space efficient, while still looking elegant. matx or mitx. the smaller the better. but it MUST support these components: amd ryzen 7 1800x 64gb of memory (4 x 16gb for matx or 2 x ecc 32gb for mitx) storage; main os on m.2 nvme on mb, 2x 3.5 inch drives and 2x 2.5 inch corsair h100i gtx aio 600w - 700w sfx/sfx-l silverstone psu motherboard matx or mitx with b350/x370 chipset. gpu size: 2.5/3 slots and 300mm+ in length and possibly having a very tall pcb. case: tbd (MUST support tall gpus like asus strix and gpus with very big coolers like gigabyte xtreme gaming). (i already ordered a ncase m1 without realizing that it doesn't support tall pcb gpus. i suppose i could go reference style, but the performance of the aib cards with their massive coolers and base performance boost is too good to pass up.) here's a few cases that i know won't work to help with narrowing down options: dancase itx; too small; no watercooling support at all, and can't hold a 2.5/3 slot gpu. fractal define nano s; too big; i won't be doing a custom loop for ease of use, making a lot of the space in the drive cage area wasted, and it won't support a 2.5/3 slot card. ncase m1; absolutely perfect, but it won't support tall gpus. if there's a great gpu that's 2.5/3 slots without being above reference height, then please let me know. anything atx: too big. price is not a concern. hit me with any suggestions. any help is much appreciated. thank you.

I don't care about colors or glowing things, I just want a case with good cable management and a simple design but not something ugly like the Rosewill FBM-01 if u know what I mean. Under 50 bucks, at least 1 case fan and decent cable management. Micro ATX

Hey all So I'm joining the choo-choo hype train for Ryzen gonna rebuild my now p.obsolete rig - and I've wanted to downsize for a little while but honestly... It's kinda nice having a big RGB case bc it impresses non-techies So my question for you guys is: 1) How do you make an mATX/small ATX case look impressive? 2) What are your top mATX windowed cases that don't break the bank? and 3) What's the smallest ATX case I can buy (I use like 11 USB devices I don't wanna rely on hubs too much, I prolly have to go B350 for the price so it'd also be nice to get a small ATX Much love, Insecure small penis man Edit: Bonus points for exotic and erotic form factors, open to anything

This is probably the most incredible budget gaming PC I have put together. I haven't actually built it, as I have no reason to (I have an i7-6700k + GTX 1070 rig). However, I was able to pull off putting a 525GB Crucial SSD, an RX 480 8GB, and an i5 processor in a $700 system. That's right...$700. How? Somebody decided to sell a used i5-3450s for $110 on Amazon. Yes, I did my research...the i5-3450s is still a decent gaming processor. Now, this incredibly-priced processor will soon go away, but the next level up is $140 for an unused i5-3450s that includes a CPU cooler. Take away the Hyper T2, and you end up with roughly the same price ($725). Anyway, enough hype. Here's the part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MbFssJ

I will be running a i5-6400 and EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB SuperClocked Gaming single-fan GPU in the CoolerMaster MasterBox Lite 3. Two intake fans and one exhaust fans, a single-fan heatsink and PSU venting heat out the back should be an adequate cooling solution, right? I do not think installing 120mm fans on the sidepanel is necessary as well as decreasing maximal CPU cooler height from 158mm to 133mm. Trivial question. The ASUS B250M-K mainboard only features one 4-pin CPU fan header and one 4-pin case fan header. Should I go with two CoolerMaster MasterFan Pro 120 Air Pressure running on one Y-split PWM signal and a MasterFan Pro 120 Airflow Y-split to the heatsink fan PWM signal? Or should I seperate CPU fan control and case fan control by daisy-chaining three EKL Alpenföhn Wing Boost 2 120 fans? And since I couldn't find EKL on newegg you can view them here. The prices for these set ups are 62.38€ and 27.30€, excluding the heatsink, so quite a saving.

Hello all, I am planning on building a pc over the summer and I have two builds. Both have intel and Nvidia, but one is an ATX build, https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Mitch7Anderson/saved/qGhdCJ, and the other is a mATX build, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dM2nCy, my question is, which is better? I know that the mATX is cheaper, but that is about all I know, thanks in advance for the help.

I currently have an nzxt s340 which I like a lot, but I am hoping to go with something a little smaller and more portable with my next build. I was looking around and can't seem to find any mATX cases that interest me. Inwin and lian li cases are beautiful but I am looking for something at around the $100 price range. Suggestions would be very helpful. I am a big fan of the minimalist black metal cases with tempered glass panels. Ideally I wish there were just smaller versions of the s340 elite and the p400 TG. I only plan to have one hard drive and use an m.2 for the OS so I don't need a ton of drive bays. Also planning on using a 240mm AIO cooler but would be okay with stepping down to a 120mm or 140mm as I don't plan on doing too much overclocking. If I don't find anything I may just put an mATX board in a s340 elite or p400TG in case something comes out in the near future I will be able to downsize. Additionally if anyone had any thoughts on those cases they would be welcome.

I have one question for the world of computers.... Why are there no great Micro ATX cases with a side window, at least 2x 3.5 drive bays, room for a full custom water loop with 2x 280mm radiators and without being massive? OK with that out of the way I am planning to make my next build with the new asus strix z270 micro atx motherboard (newegg:N82E16813132929)and have been looking at the Phanteks Enthoo (newegg:9SIAAM145C4541) and the corsair obsidian 350D (newegg:N82E16811139021) and there both "good" cases but both have there game braking flaws for me like the phantek case like great, but apparently the top 140mm fans may as well not exist with the poor airflow, and I may need to take out the 3.25 drive cage for the front if I want the front radiator (unconfirmed) a total game breaker for me, ware as the corsair looks nice but not as nice as the phantek but the air flow would not be a issue but I have the same problem as with the phantek of if I want the front radiator I have no drive bays... so I ask, does anyone know of a great matx case with a window that looks nice, has room for 2x 280mm radiators, and at least 2x 3.5 drive bays?
