Is it really ok for cables to touch the back of the motherboard? In Linum's "ULTIMATE Cable Management Guide" you can clearly see a cable is behind the motherboard, and its even recommended to put it behind. Im not sure tho, sounds kinda sketchy. Heres a screenshot

Hello there everyone, I am on "the board" of a non-profit swimming organisation and we are looking into a better way to track progress for kids. Surely this can be done using excel, but this isn't ideal. I have been looking on the internet and still am going to continue that, but thought that I'd drop the question here as well since you guys might just know exactly what I am looking for. I am looking for some kind of open source program (because it needs to be free) that can track the different lessons, show which kids are in the lessons (nothing fancy, just having dropped them in beforehand and manually transferring them is fine), and which enables us to have a checklist for every kid to see how far their progress is (what techniques they can do). I am currently thinking of hosting a local ip, which can be accessed by the instructors to access the system, thats why I hope to find something working with mysql and apache or something similar. If I am at all unclear, do not hesitate to ask, I would love to get a solution out of this. Thanks in advance

I'm just some hick kid but I installed a SSD into a Dell XPS 8700, I keep getting a BSOD and the final thing (after fixing whatever else I could) that seems to error is this intel management engine. I get this troubleshooter saying restart the pc... yeah for like the 160th time? For some reason, the restart isn't finalizing the install of this driver I was going to uninstall and reinstall (checking for updates does nothing to fix it.) but I'm really worried that this might kill my pc. I guess it's responsible for the boot sequence or something some sort of security feature maybe. I want to know how to try my uninstall reinstall fix safely. Dang if you could offer any other tips I'd take them too. The dell xps is from 2013 Dell 0KWVT8 -MOBO I7 4770 -cpu Kingston A400 480GB SATA III -ssd/boot Seagate Desktop HDD ST1000DM003 1TB -hdd/oldboot 4x4gb ddr3 Original video -

Hi guys, I've been wanting to fix this problem I've had for a while. Can't find a fix on internet. When I start my computer, my overclock works fine. 3.9GHz under load and 3.6 at idle (specs & OC's in signature). But when I put my computer to sleep then wake it up again, overclock stops working and max speed is 3.6 GHz. I couldn't figure out the problem until now. In event viewer, I get errors after wake from sleep: Performance power management features on processor 11 in group 0 are disabled due to a firmware problem. Check with the computer manufacturer for updated firmware. The source is Kernal-Processor-Power (Microsoft-Windows-Kernal-Processor-Power). Event id 35. Task category (2) and windows event viewer say this is an error. This is then followed immediately by an information level log. Processor 11 in group 0 exposes the following power management capabilities: Idle state type: ACPI Idle (C) States (2 state(s)) Performance state type: None Nominal Frequency (MHz): 3593 Maximum performance percentage: 100 Minimum performance percentage: 100 Minimum throttle percentage: 100 Same source as before. Event ID 55. Task category (47) These two logs occur 11 times after wake from sleep. Not after computer start How can I fix my Overclock problem and get rid of these errors Help much appreciated.

Hello guys! I decided to finally join the Forum because I can not really find a solution!About a week ago I installed the new configuration and in the last period I find myself with a strange problem. It usually happens that while I'm streaming Fortnite on Twitch via OBS Studio, I get this BSOD with MEMORY_MANAGEMENT ntoskrnl.exe error. In addition to Fortnite and OBS, while I stream I usually keep opened Google Chrome (with two tabs), Nightbot, Streamlabels and sometimes Teamspeak or Discord. That said, however, today for example, when the streaming ended with OBS turned off and the game in Lobby the same problem came up. ERROR -> MEMORY_MANAGEMENT And I discovered from BlueScreenView is caused by ntoskrnl.exe+1637d0 Bug Check Code: 0x0000001aThis is my actual config:PSU - Thermaltake Smart SE 530wCPU - Ryzen 5 1600xGPU - MSI nVidia GTX 1050TIRAM - 2x8gb 3200Mhz G.Skill Ripjaws K2 F4-3200C15D-16GVK MOBO - Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4 SSD - Crucial 512GB M550HDD - 2x1TB WD 7200 64MB SATA3 Now let's move on to what I have done. As soon as the MOBO arrived and I mounted it, I successfully flashed twice, updating to the latest BIOS version available on the manufacturer's website. For the RAM, I only set the recommended XMP profile to reach 3200Mhz in the BIOS, no overclocking and set the Windows Boot Loader as unique and only #1 Boot Source. The sfc / scannow did not report any problems. I formatted twice, trying to recreate the Windows bootable key by downloading the 64-bit image from the Microsoft site. Then I made the various checks to the RAM, starting from the Windows Diagnostics tool that did not find errors, (8 hours, 4 full passes) test with Memtest86+, which again, did not report any kind of error. A while ago I tried to reverse the banks, move the ram from slot A2 to B2 and vice versa and perform a CMOS reset. I'm desperate, I can not afford these continuous crashes with a newly assembled pc! In the hope that some angel can help me, I am attaching here also the log of BlueScreenView. How should I move? Should I request the RMA of RAM? MOBO? (I'm a bit tilted because I did not encountered problems in the tests, and RAM are regularly read at 3200Mhz also from CPU-Z). Thanks in advance, Camo

So I've been working on reorganizing and restructuring my inventory management system at work for all of our IT equipment, and it is turning into a nightmare. Ideally, I'd love to have a barcode scanner where I can print off barcodes and assign them to individual assets, and also place them on shared equipment so that users can check out equipment and I can keep track of who was the last person in our department to use it. Now granted, our IT department isn't huge, and I'm looking at about 500-700 total assets. Right now they have physical asset tags with a number, and I have to search that item based on that number in an Excel sheet. I'd really like it if I could have everything in a SQL database or something similar where I can add detailed descriptions of some of our more complex assets (like install date, last service, item specifications, etc), such as our desktops and servers. I was wondering if anyone knew or had experience with any low cost options so that I could better organize my system.

I found out about this recently and I'm no expert but it looks really bad. Very sneaky of them to have, what looks to me, like a perfect backdoor disguised as a feature for big companies . Apparently, it affects everyone who has an intel cpu 6th gen (Skylake) onwards. Here the link to intel's detection tool. And this is intel's official response with all the details, affected systems and detection tool, etc. I unfortunately have a 6600k+Z170 Pro Gaming, so I'm going to have to update my BIOS to fix this. Atleast that's what the update tool from Asus is telling me to do. What a mess, I really don't want to brick my system for this. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/11/intel-warns-of-widespread-vulnerability-in-pc-server-device-firmware/

Hello LTT Forum! My cable management (desk cable management not computer cable management) is, well a bit more than lackluster. I know all the tricks but the only reason that I don't do them is because my parents are divorced so I have to bring my computer between the two houses. So I can't have anything permanent unless I buy all new cables for everything and aint nobody got time fo dat. So, I turn to you guys! Any ideas on how I could solve this problem? Thanks, ItsLukenotLucas

Hi, I currently have a 250GB Samsung Evo 850 (540MB/s read, 520MB/s write) and a 1TB Toshiba HDD (180MB/s read, 150MB/s write). I'm planning on buying a 256GB 950 Pro M.2 SSD. The issue I'm facing is how to manage what to install on what. I play a lot of games, mainly first person shooters, a lot of the time and I also do quite a lot of programming. I occasionally use my computer for work. Currently, I use my SSD for my OS and programs, and my HDD for games and programming. The reason I don't install games on my SSD is due to the limited space available. I would like to have my M.2 as my boot drive (OS) along with programs, my SSD for games and my HDD for programming. However, having a 1TB HDD just for programming and work is not normal, and so I'm not really sure how to manage everything efficiently. Should I just install the main games I play on my SSD, and keep the rest of my games on my HDD?

I have an open desk. It's basically a slab of wood on two legs. Probably one of the worst types of desks for cable management and for someone with OCD. Cables were a huge issue for me; case in point, any time I'd put my foot on the wall from my chair, the HDMI cable would flip out and my screen would blank out. Not to mention the microphone has like a 30 foot cable since it's designed for studios. So I spent about 45 minutes, a shoebox and the box that my R9 380 came in and when I was done I had one power cable for my entire computer setup (tower, 2 monitors, speakers, peripherals) and one cord for my lamp under my desk. All the excess cord length is stuffed in a box behind the tower and shielded by view from my monitor. Point is, even if it's a ghetto cable management solution, as long as you don't have to look at it, it works fine (which is probably why you'd cable manage in the first place, right?). What cheap and/or easy solutions do you guys have?

I've got a Thermaltake Chaser A21 and I've recently been told by a friend that my cable management is "disgusting", so I decided to have a look at what I can do with it but I'm completely clueless. There are no holes inside the case through to the back, as far as I can see so I don't know how else to route them. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I hope this is the right spot for this help request, but I have a Cooler Master Haf 922 case and a MSI A88XM Gaming mobo and the PCIe slots for this mobo is oddly placed. It offers Crossfire support, but a second R9 270X always has heatsinks that are rather large and covers the front panel headers, USB headers, and makes it impossible to use the USB 3.0 header. A solution to this I hope is getting a PCIe x16 riser cable and have my second GPU occupy either slots 6 and 7 or 5 and 6. Either way, I think a 4" Crossfire cable will reach both options, but will the securing screws and GPU bracket keep the card in place since it'll be plugged into a riser and not to a screwed down mobo? I guess I could add extra support with some trusty hot glue or something, plus, occupying slots 5 and 6 will allow for better airflow than the cards being of course in slots 1 and 2 for the first GPU and slots 4 and 5 for the second GPU. Does any of this sound okay? Thank you in advance for any help provided and I would like to say this place seems lovely so far as a year long former lurker.

OK, so I plan on replacing the cables in my PC with braided cables since my case is quiet large (Corsair 750D), and most cables in the case are too short to properly organize. I am using the cables that came with my Cooler Master V850. So my question is: what brand and pack of cables should I order? will there be enough cables in the pack to connect everthing? My Rig: Intel Core i7-4790k ASUS Sabertooth Z97 2 GTX 970's in SLI Corsair H100i 1 SSD 1 hard drive 1 CD-ROM
