**SOLVED IN ELEVENTH POST** Well more of a work around for Windows Movies & TV inability to play DTS. And I wanted to use that program because nothing else correctly sent the HDR metadata. Also, I know the screen grabs I posted will look different to everyone else, but it looks amazing on my end. Hello All, I have been struggling to find a player for 4k videos and after an exhaustive searching of the Googles and several codecs that don't do shite -- I have settled on simply using Windows Movies & TV. It actually does a great job playing back 4k content, however, I have recently discovered that it won't play all audio codecs. Specifically DTS. From what I gather it's a problem with licensing and I can't find a solution to that problem so I resorted to trying VLC to play the content. VLC has no problem with the audio side of things, but as many of you are aware it struggles with the video side of 4k content. And now I have learned it struggles with the HDR color range as well. Again, I have searched and searched to find a solution and have come up with nothing that works. So what I am asking you good people for is any solution to playing this content I have been excited to see. If you have a solution that works for Windows Movies & TV audio then that's great. If you can actually make VLC play 4k UHD videos then that is also great. If I need another player then I am fine with that also. I am gonna attach pictures of the color difference between Windows Movies & TV versus VLC. I won't bother describing the other struggles VLC has with 4k video. Thanks All.

My problem: Even with all recommended "Trade quality for performance" options selected and fairly tame filtering I still get low performance (~15 fps when I should be getting at the very least 24). I really doubt a setup this old and widely-used takes hardware this good to run minimally well. Hi all, looking for a reliable laptop with best CPU, GPU, and color accurate 1080p display for about $1000 Do not care about anything else Looking at the Asus ROG GL552VW-DH71 right now, but poor reliabiliy at launch based on user reviews. Should I just give it time? I've also heard the 14nm process for gpus is expected to double GPU performance in 2016 for the same card equivalent. Would this translate to mobile as well? Should I just give it even more time? Thanks in advance.

ok so i currently have a 7970 running 4k with madvr but i want to get a r9 390. does anyone here have a 390 and able to test mpc with madvr with NNEDI3 maxed out. basically i wanna know if someone here has a 390 and is willing to test some settting i tell them??? oh and you need a 4k tv or monitor

I finally created uploaded my updated readme and files for MPC-HC + madVR. I have actually been working on this for a number of years for my self and friends. Originally I posted this for the members of the Anime Club http://goo.gl/D37X4l . Some users thought it would be better to have a topic dedicated to this for the entire forum. This should make updates and support easier. Many of us care about the visual quality of our games, yet many don't really pay any mind to video. Im hoping this will do that and well enough so that it might even get stickied. I no longer have a AMD gpu and have not yet tracked someone down willing to make the AMD GPU ini for this, so for now the ini is Nvidia only. The quick directions to setup the settings for AMD are below. There is also a way to do Intel iGPU as well and ill be looking into that once my 20th Anniversary Pentium Build comes together. I still haven't managed to write anything up about configuring madVR. My main suggestion/hint is that its basically like configuring a game. So I threw some basics together for madVR below.
