Can Someone please help me in installing Mac OS High Sierra on Vm ware. I'm having the iso file for the operating system.

Hello people, I just got ask to find 4 servers, precisely « 4 x HP Proliant DL380P G8 », to do VM stuff. They'll have to host 2 DNS servers on 2 different physical machines throught VM software. It's supposed to be running of FreeBSD with a DNS server application called « BIND », but the truth is, maybe there is a better set-up than these options. The servers will be running with 2 GB Raid Controller with 64 GB of RAM, as well as a RAID 1+0 set-up. I was asking myself if there would be other servers similar to the model I quoted just above, and if there would be any OS (ZFS with VM?) or software that would be doing the job better than these ones? If you do, please share and explain how/why, thanks! Share us your VM workstations set-up as it might light up some ideas! This is for a company, thus have in mind the same price point as the model I quoted.

How does the clock speed work on a I7-8550U
Cakeman posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
How does the I7-8550U clockspeed work? The stated base clock is at 1.8Ghz in the power settings and the Intel spec sheet states it can run at 4Ghz. Does the processor simply boost up to ~4Ghz due to what is needed and throttles when it reaches too high of temps? -
Hi. Can you help me out in picking the parts for a new gaming machine? My budget is $750. I really care about the looks. So, it would be nice if you can help me out with the lighting and other stuff like mouse and keyboard, in addition to the actual parts. Thanks!!

So I have been working with VMs and was wondering if it was possible to dedticate a GPU to run the VM. I have a ThinkPad with Nvidia Optimus and wanted to see if I could use the Intel 4000 for the host machine and the Nvidia NVS 5200m for the VM. Also can I make a VM widescreen?

I've had my ubuntu server for a while and i want to add more machines. I haven't really done anything to my server(except probably decrease the security) so i don't want ubuntu to be it's OS anymore. What's the best virtualization OS(an OS specifically designed for virtualization and nothing else.) I DON't want a host either(i.e, Linux running virtualbox running another linux/any other machine) I think VMware can do it, but that costs money(which I don't have), any alternatives? Perhaps a linux distro designed specifically designed for this? I think I saw Linus do this in his 7-gamers-1-PC video, but it might have been something different (and expensive)

So I currently use windows 10 on my laptop. I have a programming class next semester and decided I wanted to pop Ubuntu (eventually some other form of linux) onto my laptop. I'd rather not dual boot. I'd rather have access to windows via my linux os. Question is, How do I go about using this OS (with all of its files/features) via the virtual machine on ubuntu? Normally with a virtual machine I'd simply run an ISO to install and i'm good to go. I'm not sure if what I'm asking is even possible, if not I will probably just dual boot. Any help is awesome and appreciated. Thanks

Amazon: NCIX: We all know that running a virtual machine on your hardware has the potential to add some overhead to performance tasks... But can we quantify that overhead?

I've never winced or cringed as much as I did watching this than any other LMG video! I really hope those mounts hurry up, for the sake of the very expensive motherboard and CPUs!

If I find a AM3 CPU in a junk pile at work will usable for a Steam Machine budget build if it has 3 cores or is 4 minimum? I doubt I find anything usable but if I do I where thinking of getting a 750Ti or a 960 for it. Parts: *AMD FX-8370 Stock Cooler (I have this so...) *Cooler Master Elite 311 Black/Silver (I may find a ATX case at work) *Cooler Master V550S, 550W PSU (most buy) *Corsair Value S. DDR3 1333MHz 8GB KIT (could find some at work) *MSI 970A-G43, Socket-AM3+ (most buy) *Nvidia Geforce GTX 750Ti or GTX 960 (most buy) *Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (most buy)

Okay if I find a Phenom X3, X4 or X6 for the AM3 socket is this a good idea to buy for it? I aleready have a cooler from a FX-8370! Parts: *Cooler Master Elite 311 Black/Silver *Cooler Master V550S, 550W PSU *Corsair Value S. DDR3 1333MHz 8GB KIT *EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB / MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 2GB *MSI 970A-G43, Socket-AM3+ *Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD

With machines slowly replacing humans, I thought about sharing this video I saw a while back. Lamb chops anyone?

That's right boys! Here's the trailer that Konami just released for their new Silent Hill game! (No more words needed, watch the video) So, they dropped Silent Hills for this. Isn't that AMAZING? Source is the video More of my thoughts: This sucks, really hard. And I think Konami doesn't deserve more money from their fans, they dropped an amazing project (Silent hills) for this crappy game. Couldn't find a news site that posted this, just found the video, if anyone thinks this is not news please tell me so I delete this.

Hey everyone. So recently, I switch my PC on, start browsing the web, playing games etc like I normally do, then the CPU fan speeds up as if it's under a large load, and sometimes even the game fps goes right down. I start task manager to see what it is, and without fail, the largest process on my CPU is MDM - Machine Debug Manager, taking up 35-40% of my CPU, whereas a game, project cars, for instance, only takes up around 30%. Any ideas what this is and how I can prevent it from happening. Right now I just execute the task and carry on as normal, is this bad for my PC? Thanks a lot! Rhys

Hi I've bought myself a beast PC half year ago, then I refurbished my 5 year old PC for my grandparents (added SSD, installed fresh OS etc.) so that they don't have to use my parents former 10 (? - I'm not sure) year old PC. There is nothing to do with it right now - it's just hanging out in the basement. Grandparents like their PC and love to use it. Now they want one in their second house near the town lake. They reminded themselves that they have one and asked me to prepare it, make it faster, clean it etc. I agreed. I don't have it yet, but I think what I can do with it. I believe it's specs are: CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1800+ GPU: Nvidia GeForce 6200 MOBO: ? RAM: Elixir 1,25GB HDD: 160GB PATA PSU: Codegen 300W CASE: (random really old one - http://cdn.overclock.net/3/3f/3f26b555_vbattach175037.jpeg - looks like this) OS: Windows XP (idk)-bit It's space is all cramped and it runs very slowly + I'm not sure what I can do more. I came with four ideas: - format the whole HDD, - install new fresh OS, - install some programs like Malwarebytes and CCleaner and set it up to manually check the PC state every set period of time, - upgrade. While 3 first ideas aren' bad, but fourth is impossible (unneeded). Doing the first and third thing is simple, I'm not sure about the OS. Is installing new one actually a good idea? What OS shall I choose? I was thinking about Windows 10, because of low system requirements and running nice&cool on even old machines (but I'm not sure if on that old too...). I don't want to install Linux because I've already learned grandparents using Windows. What do you think about it overall? What OS shall I pick? Am I wrong somewhere? Do you have any other ideas to make this PC faster/better? Thanks in advance Thomas

I use Premiere Pro. I'm deciding between the 5820k and the 4970 (non-k, I do not OC my hardware at all.) The difference in price is quite substantial due to the X99 motherboard and DDR4 ram. It's about £200/$300. I need to know if it's really worth it.

You know, this Forbes article certainly puts forward some good points about the downsides to the Steam Machines and why, just perhaps, we need to calm our jets and view the other side and see if the Machines make any sense at all. IMHO, they don't. Your average consumer wants something that just works. 350-500 price points of the consoles fit something that was inherently designed for even a child to use. You get Linux and less games (but you can install Windows to overcome this), you get a small form factor which otherwise might be hard to build your own; but anyone who is going to do that much work ISN'T a casual user and they'd do it on their own anyways without a Steam Machine. Your thoughts? http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/03/06/ps4-and-xbox-one-have-nothing-to-fear-from-500-5000-steam-machines/

Gabe's spectacular overreaction to Windows 8 finally has a launch date attached to it. I really don't have much more to say, cause I truly struggle to see the point of something thats priced like a console yet has far less game support out of the box and of now requires a decent computer to stream all your games form anyways. They also showed off Steam Link, which sounds like Chromecast for Steam. Unless I'm missing something entirely... Source 2 Source 2 will be free to all content developers. There will also be Vulkan support in Source 2, we'll probably hear more about Vulkan (and Valve's involvement) in the upcoming GDC talk. Thats all we have so far on Source 2. Will Update as more information is released. http://kotaku.com/valves-steam-machines-will-officially-launch-this-fall-1689283215 http://www.polygon.com/2015/3/3/8145263/valve-steam-link-steam-controller-pricing-release-date https://steamdb.info/blog/source2-announcement/

With official steam machines, the full release of steam OS, and the Steam Controller/gamepad thing being announced for November I Want to build a Console Killer for my Living Room that will be able to crush my xbone-One, Xbox 360, and a Wii U that it will be sitting next to. (Note: there is no wired network were it will be and I already have a Plex server running that i want to incorperate into it) Currently this Project has no budget but its not going to be a money eater either Hardware: Im pretty open here cause i haven't defiantly decided on anything except that i defiantly want it to be a low/mid range intel/nvidia ITX box. CPU I was thinking my prototype would be the Pentium 20th anniversary Model . I was also thinking maybe an i3 of some kind. GPU might a be GT 740 2GB FTW edition Radeon R9 270? - do they even make these small enough GTX 970 ITX card - totally doesn't fit in here lol (here come the bottle-necking comments) Motherboard maybe on a z97 motherboard or a H81, i dont know how much heat im going to be able to disperse so overclocking might be a no go Case i have some ATX power supply's laying around so ill probably try to find a case to fit one of those in there. i thinkk i have most of everything else right now.

I was thinking of using a case like this for my Steamroller Steam Machine build! I am gonna put in this for part one http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Z2KtFT & part two will be this? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/38dRxr (COPY PASTE THIS LINK...) My main worry is the ventilation for stage two of the upgrade will the airflow work with a 80mm fan blowing out only? I was also gonna leave it open under the GPU and the front of the case there is some air coming in there to but its no fan.

So I recently installed Ubuntu on a VM on my computer. I've noticed though that it's a bit laggy/input delay? when using it. I'm just wondering if this is normal or not. I'm not sure what information to provide so if there are bits of info you need, ask away. What I do know: Read/write speed on the HDD is utter rubbish (I checked resources on task manager on the host computer). I don't know if this is responsible for lag in the UI though, or why the figures are so bad since I don't think the hard drive is that terrible. On that note I've allocated 2GBs of RAM for the VM. The recommended min on their website is 0.5GB so I figure this should be plenty.

So I have these parts just sitting in an old PC that nobody uses. They're great parts so I don't want to see them go to waste: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-2600 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $0.00) Motherboard: ASRock H61MV-ITX Mini ITX LGA1155 Motherboard ($75.99 @ Mwave Australia) Memory: Kingston 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory (Purchased For $0.00) Memory: Kingston 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory (Purchased For $0.00) Total: $75.99 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-10-18 02:45 EST+1100 I'm planning on buying the ITX mobo and an HTPC case so I can put it in a room and it won't draw attention (It's currently in a full tower with red LEDs). I also have a GT 440 lying around somewhere that I can throw in. My question is: should I turn this into a virtual machine server? If so, what else would I have to buy to achieve that? If not, what are some cool uses for an HTPC?

Hello everyone! I've just got a quick question reguarding an old PC I have that's simply lying about collecting dust. I like to stream from time to time on my current PC but I noticed playing really CPU intensive games such as DayZ I am limited when streaming. I'd like to set pu mu old PC as a stream machine if it's powerful enough. I used to game on the old thing before I got my current build, now it serves as a back up and a space consumption. Might as well put it to good use, right? Here's the specs: CPU:AMD Phenom 9500 quad core 2.3 Ghz RAM: 4 GB MOBO: Generic HP motherboard (It's a prebuilt system so I have't got an actual name:P ) GPU: Nvidia 9600 GSO HDD: 320GB It's also got a dvd reader/burner. What I plan to do is maybe get an after market cooler and over clock the CPU if possible on this motherboard, then get an SSD and a capture card. But my main question is would it be able to handle streaming? That's all I'll use it for is streaming. I figure if my FX 8350 can handle gaming AND streaming then this should be able to handle streaming alone, besides most capture cards like avermedia have processors in them that take load off the actual CPU. I don't expect it to be top of the line or anything but I think it can produce a pretty solid and qualtiy stream! I'll probably stream at 720p 60fps~ We'll see. I'd love some second opinions though. Thanks a lot guys!
