I am currently looking for a new MacBook Pro, and I was wondering if anyone has experience using the 4 v 6 v 8 cores and how it effects logic pro x. There is a lot of videos on Final Cut but very little videos on logic.

I'm about to regret my purchase from 2 years ago...also sorry for the poor focus of the picture. First of all, apologies if I sound really stupid. Now, as the title says, my 2016 MacBook Pro w/ touch bar is slightly warped. One of the bottom corners is slightly lifted upwards, and it rocks whenever I try to type. I cannot think of any situation where I added so much force to the thing, because I always made sure to carry it carefully by always putting it inside a sleeve, etc. I also checked if the feet were wearing off but no, that wasn't the case either. Here comes the stupid question: could the 2016 MBP and models beyond it possibly warp because of poor heat dissipation? I was very skeptical of this too since the warped corner is on the opposite side of the heat pipes and fans, but I can't really come up with other reasons why the body would warp in the first place other than force. I'll take this to the Genius Bar within the next few days, but I believe I won't be repairing it since I already spent about ¥95,000 (US$867 in recent rates) in my last repair just to get the display unit replaced (*crying intensifies*). Anyways, I'd like to hear from you guys about this and what could be the problem. Thank you in advance for your feedback

I'm streaming from OBS in Bootcamp (Windows10) on a MBP (2018). (yeah I know, just go with it)... I have this old (as in I got it when I got my Pixel C) USB-C to ethernet and 3-USB A dongle. I've noticed that sometimes my Ethernet just plain craps out when pushing heavy data loads through it. This happens only on this adapter in Windows and in MacOS. My question is: Has anyone done any testing on actual throughput and limitations on the adapters out there? (Sounds like a good video. hint. hint.) Am I crazy in thinking that it could even be the adapter, my backup one (which is a super one with VGA and HDMI and all sorts of crazy on it seesm to work fine.) What adapter can I buy that's just straight Thunderbolt 3 to Gigabit that works well? Amazon reviews are mixed for the Belkin USB-C to Ethernet adapter... (Which is the Apple Store sanctified version.) Is a TB3 ->TB2 -> Apple Gigabit adapter chain just stupid? Yes, I'm an apple fanboy but it's only because I have to use Mac only software; I do really advanced printing... I could totally use some help. Thanks. CMYKninja

I am not too sure if this is the right area of the forums, but I was hoping someone would be able to help me troubleshoot my macbook pro. So, I was given a seemingly dead 2015 Macbook Pro 13 inch by a family friend and told if I could fix it, I can keep it. So, I am eager to see if I can fix it. I took it apart, cleaned it thoroughly, and checked all the connections and capacitors. It appears that there may have been very minor water damage as a few of the indicators have turned a slight pink but the vast majority of the board is in perfect condition and I didn't see any signs of water damage other than a little bit of corrosion by one capacitor that was easily cleaned up with a little alcohol. The SSD looks to be in good condition too. It wouldn't boot at all until I took it apart, cleaned it, and reassembled it. Now, I have to hold the power key down for 10 seconds, then connect the magsafe and keep holding the power key for 30 seconds more and release it. The light on the power cable doesn't come on. Then, after about 5-10 seconds I hear the chime and a grey screen greets me and the fan ramps up. After about 30 seconds I get the flashing folder with a question mark. If I pull the power cord, it shuts off. Has anyone had a similar issue? Could it be the magsafe port? The SSD? Is it water damaged beyond fixing? I've been trying all my troubleshooting steps and just need to talk it through with some other like-minded techies. Thanks in advance!

Hey, so I just bought a refurbished 2013 15” MacBook Pro, and I’m looking to upgrade the internal storage. So I’m trying to figure out how much acceptable storage is possible in this system, I know 1TB of flash is possible, however I’m wondering about larger capacity such as a 2TB (I have seen some not many) or anything larger.! Now, cost wise I’m sure the 1TB is a great deal, however jumping to 2TB’s seems to be a significant cost increase. is 2TB’s even possible.!? i was thinking along the lines of Samsung’s 1TB 970 evo.

I’m looking to purchase a refurbished MacBook Pro 13 inch preferably with touchbar but has to be 2016 or newer, and I’m having trouble finding a good one that meets my price range. Budget: $1,600 and lower please (nothing over $1,699). If you manage to find a good 15 inch model for a similar price (doubt it) i would be okay with that too. Also, color does not matter. heres what I’ve found so far. https://www.apple.com/shop/product/FPXX2LL/A/Refurbished-133-inch-MacBook-Pro-31GHz-dual-core-Intel-Core-i5-with-Retina-display-Silver?fnode=edbbe20908e15cc00284e348cb9acb3a1383365fc587cf550c4ba04036ac95b51a2ccadce3a618b5569f69986df20f04890925bce05e04842433004910aae2c4e9e9da26f5afb6589518b7e16265d48f 2.9 GHz boost up to 3.3 GHz Intel core i5, 16GB LPDDR3 Ram, 512 GB SSD and Intel Iris graphics 550 (couldn’t link) $1,689.00 https://www.apple.com/shop/product/FR9V2LL/A/Refurbished-133-inch-MacBook-Pro-23GHz-quad-core-Intel-Core-i5-with-Retina-display-Silver?fnode=da993c620f7d4beb1fb3dfa0ef37febae26d5f16afd5e12365dd914be13a07ac1fb096b3f651d62bd51b165db84f4907781353741dd8a84a84fc6c759bab786c733a471f5bd8b5e5fcdfbe63798ee041 If you have any alternatives, different websites are okay. If not please tell me which of these 3 is the best for me. I do a lot of art, video editing and I’d say light gaming like the sims and gta V. Thanks

Hello there ! [Talking about MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013- 2,6 GHz Intel Core i7- Mac OS Mojave 10.14.5] First time here but few months watching LTT on YouTube, now, I really need your help. First things first, what the problem ? My MacBook Pro, few months ago started to crash randomly, like once a month. I thought at the time that it could be the battery, but even when plug-in, crashes happened. Now the crashes happens extremely often : like every 5 minutes. Because I am not an Anthony, I let my MBP on the "expert" hands of iStack (Official Apple at Orléans, France). After 2 weeks of tests they said "Motherboard has a problem, needs to be replaced : 800 euros". My wallet made me understand the truth : we cannot change it, so it is not the motherboard. (Beside the fact that i am broke, I heard a lot of shitty things about iStack which made me question their diagnosis) After a complete erased of my Apple intern SSD, I re-installed Mojave from scratch. Those are the System logs I have just before the crashes happen : Number 1 : https://pastebin.com/6k4byFRp Number 2 : https://pastebin.com/wk1svJGP I have tried Memory cleaner app, and fan controllers app but I don't think these will help anyway. After few research I found someone with the same problem : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7683355 But it was posted 3 years ago, I don't think I will be able to get information from him. (And yeah btw, I already tried to reset the PRAM and the SMC). Anthony-s I need your help ! If you need more informations, logs and stuff, do not hesitate. I am available. PS : Do not forget that I am French, so avoid extreme complicate sentences. Would be appreciated. - And be nice with my English (even if you are welcome to correct me) Love you.

I have a MacBook Pro 2010 15". It has a pretty weak i3 processor. I was wondering if I would in any way be able to upgrade it? I'm not sure if it's socketed or not, or if there are any other complications.

apple Why only 16 Gb memory in a 13" Macbook Pro?
shoffa posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
So... I only use my laptop when i work and with that i have a Macbook Pro (2016 edition) with 16 Gb memory and I where very happy when the Macbook Pro got upgraded so that you could have 32 Gb because i use Parallels to work with more than one OS at a time. But i don't want to walk around with a 15"... Mostly because i also travel a lot and use my laptop in coffee shops, airplanes and so on. After a long rant about me... here is my question... Why can't I add 32 Gb memory to the Macbook Pro 13" edition? There should't be a difference between the 15" edition and the 13" right? It's the same 8th gen Intel chip. What am I'm missing? -
I'm running windows on a macbook pro and i just wanted to try something out; my dedicated graphics card has 1GB VRAM where as my internal graphics card has 1.5GB so i just wanted to try running the internal graphics card instead but windows has automatically chosen the dedicated graphics card as the only graphics card in the system is there a way i can change this. The CPU is a i7-3635QM and the GPU is a geforce GT 650M.

So I'm looking into eventually buying myself a new laptop, but I'm not really sure which one I should get. I'm becoming a video editor, filmmaker, and all that jazz. And from my experience plus with what I was told, getting a MacBook Pro would be the way to go. However, I'm looking into other options in terms of a Windows machine. Plus see if I can save a few hundred dollars since I know the model i'm looking at in terms of the MacBook Pro costs pretty much $3000 USD. I also am a gamer if that is a factor that I should consider, but if I have to sacrifice gaming if I get a MacBook Pro, that’s okay with me.

I have a 6700k, 1070, 32gb ram build with a Z90 motherboard i was wondering if I could add a Thunderbolt 3 card and patch the motherboard’s firmware to turn one PCIE, a couple USB, and another SATA slot to become an external EGPU/SSD enclosure for my MacBook Pro. I’d install a Radeon 580 and a 1tb ssd and then use my monitor and peripherals with my laptop when I dock it in. (Or use the 1070 and the HDD that are already in the PC) I mean all the parts are there and it would theoretically be possible with some tweaking, no?

I recently got a 2009 17inch MacBook Pro, and the install of El Capitan 10.11.6 didn't have iMovie installed. I use iMovie to edit my videos, and while I have managed to download a REALLY old version of iMovie 9, I would really like it if I could get a newer version. I have tried going to that download page on Apple Support but they only have version 9. I have also tried going into the app store to update it, but it wouldn't let me. I would really appreciate some help if someone out there has a solution! If you have any questions for me just leave them below and I will answer!

Hello guys, I have a very interesting problem with my working station. Inspired by the cleanliest setup LTT video I wanted to create a one-cable desktop station for occasional gaming and office work. So I got myself a Phillips 27" monitor with usb c dock, which provides 3 USB 3.0 RJ45 and 65W power to my MacBook Pro 13". I absolutely love it how I connect just one usb c cable to my MB and all my peripherals light up, my MB is charged and is getting an ethernet internet as I have a 500 mbps internet connection and that makes a huge difference as due to my neighbours WiFi interference I have to have the range of my WiFi signal lowered and my 5 GHz WiFi is giving me just 20-40 Mbps. And the internet connection is the problem. My internet providers protection software (??? not sure how to call it, I'm not really an IT guy) started to shut down my connection whenever my MB is connected via RJ45 using usb c which is also powering the MB because of "packet storms" that would occour according to them. I found a few threats on reddit reporting the same issue but noone really has a solution. I also have this problem using a usb C dongle with both rj45 and powering. I also tried two different ones, no luck. So it seems that when the MB is connected with one cable with both power and internet it causes some ghost packet requests which make my provider disconnect me. We went through 4 technicians visits, 2 new routers, rewiring the whole network, they even changed the cisco switch in the basement which is providing the whole apartment building. Through this lenghtly process as we eliminated all the usual options I came up with this and it seems to be the true problem. As I am now writing this, I thought of one more thing to try, I will connect the monitor/dongle to one Thunderbolt 3 port and a usb c to rj45 adapter to the other and see if it helps, I will report back. But that would kill my one cable solution I absolutely love. Does anybody have the same problem or even better a solution to this? Im getting desperate here. Thank you very much and have a great year 2020. Regards, Ondra

Hello to any MacOS experts, I am currently in the process of repairing a friends 13 Inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro (Model 1278) after the Apple Store quoted over AUD$400 to replace the internal HDD with a 250GB SSD (That Apple magic smoke does not come cheap). After replacing the horrifically slow 5400 RPM HDD that came in the system, I proceeded to replace the current, dead HDD and replace it with a 250GB Samsung 860 EVO. After this, I proceeded to boot into the Internet Recovery utility and proceeded to format the SSD as HFS+ for use with OS X Mavericks (The operating system the recovery tool attempted to install) and start an OS X installation. After about 6 hours of waiting for the OS to install, I was greeted with a screen showing me that the installation of OS X Mavericks had succeeded and all that was left to do was restart the system with this handy button provided. Upon restarting the system, came the first issue, upon the restart, I was greeted with a flashing grey cross (as can be seen in an image attached). Thinking this was just a failed installation, I proceeded to reformat the drive and attempt the installation again, but without success, once the system restarted, I was greeted to another flashing grey cross. This time I enabled verbose startup and took a photo of the errors that appeared (images attached). After this, I have tried to install MacOS Sierra, MacOS High Sierra, and MacOS Mojave all with similar results. Does anyone have any solution or tips to help in solving this issue as I have not been able to find much help on the Googles (not in English anyway)? I hope the pictures below also help in solving the issue. Thanks, Kale04

Hello this might be better in the laptop section but my MacBook Pro 2011 gets really hot. Earlier today I had a google doc open and it alone was using 100-130% of the cpu, (not sure how accurate that is). Basically I need a cheap way to cool the laptop that will be relatively easy to do. Thanks in advance.
